Readings from Today's Mass

Deuteronomy 6: 2-6

And hence, if, throughout your lives, you fear Yahweh your God and keep all his laws and commandments, which I am laying down for you today, you will live long, you and your child and your grandchild. Listen then, Israel, keep and observe what will make you prosperous and numerous, as Yahweh, God of your ancestors, has promised you, in giving you a country flowing with milk and honey. Listen, Israel: Yahweh our God is the one, the only Yahweh. You must love Yahweh your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength. Let the words I enjoin on you today stay in your heart.

Psalm 18, 2-4, 47, 51

Yahweh is my rock and my fortress,
my deliverer is my God.
I take refuge in him, my rock,
my shield, my saving strength,
my stronghold, my place of refuge.

I call to Yahweh who is worthy of praise,
and I am saved from my foes.

With Death’s breakers closing in on me,
Belial’s torrents ready to swallow me,

the God who gives me vengeance,
and subjects whole peoples to me,

He saves his king time after time,
displays his faithful love for his anointed,
for David and his heirs for ever.

Hebrews 7: 23-28

Now the former priests became priests without any oath being sworn, but this one with the swearing of an oath by him who said to him, The Lord has sworn an oath he will never retract: you are a priest for ever; the very fact that it occurred with the swearing of an oath makes the covenant of which Jesus is the guarantee all the greater.  Further, the former priests were many in number, because death put an end to each one of them; but this one, because he remains for ever, has a perpetual priesthood. It follows, then, that his power to save those who come to God through him is absolute, since he lives for ever to intercede for them.

Such is the high priest that met our need, holy, innocent and uncontaminated, set apart from sinners, and raised up above the heavens; he has no need to offer sacrifices every day, as the high priests do, first for their own sins and only then for those of the people; this he did once and for all by offering himself. The Law appoints high priests who are men subject to weakness; but the promise on oath, which came after the Law, appointed the Son who is made perfect for ever.

Mark 12: 28-34

One of the scribes who had listened to them debating appreciated that Jesus had given a good answer and put a further question to him, ‘Which is the first of all the commandments? Jesus replied, ‘This is the first: Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the one, only Lord, and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: You must love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. The scribe said to him, ‘Well spoken, Master; what you have said is true, that he is one and there is no other. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and strength, and to love your neighbour as yourself, this is far more important than any burnt offering or sacrifice. Jesus, seeing how wisely he had spoken, said, ‘You are not far from the kingdom of God.’ And after that no one dared to question him any more.

Given November 2, 2006

Messenger:             Everything I do, I do for the honor
                        and glory of God.

Today is all souls day, as members
of the body of Christ we are united
to the Masses going on around the
                        world — all day.

We are to be one in the missions
of helping to save souls and to
be able to get to heaven ourselves.

Every act we perform reflects the
purity of our hearts. If we continue
to bend the rules and allow little
sins into our lives, the devil keeps
trying to open that door until finally
we can become almost numb to
                        what God wants.

I walk in Jesus' footprints — in
joys and sufferings —  loving for the
souls He shed His Blood for.

In meditating on the passion we
                        walk hand-in-hand with Jesus and
Mary more ardently in our lives
                        when asked to suffer.

Any lie or deception drives us
away from the true purity that God wants
                        us to reach.

The devil works in deception —
we say oh I can hide this or that
and it is okay. Jesus hung bare
on the cross — look at His bare
body. His clothing was His wounds
and Blood He shed for our sins.

I want to trust what Jesus calls
me to do. Trust the Church, trust
our leaders, trust each other, but
we are all imperfect and make
                        mistakes, but we must be
constantly looking to have greater purity.

On All Souls Day — these were the
                                following readings

Wisdom 3: 1-9

But the souls of the upright are in the hands of God,
and no torment can touch them.
To the unenlightened, they appeared to die,
their departure was regarded as disaster,
their leaving us like annihilation;
but they are at peace.
If, as it seemed to us, they suffered punishment,
their hope was rich with immortality;
slight was their correction, great will their blessings be.
God was putting them to the test
and has proved them worthy to be with him;
he has tested them like gold in a furnace,
and accepted them as a perfect burnt offering.
At their time of visitation, they will shine out;
as sparks run through the stubble, so will they.
They will judge nations, rule over peoples,
and the Lord will be their king for ever.
Those who trust in him will understand the truth,
those who are faithful will live with him in love;
for grace and mercy await his holy ones,
and he intervenes on behalf of his chosen.

Psalm 23

Yahweh is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
In grassy meadows he lets me lie.

By tranquil streams he leads me
    to restore my spirit.
He guides me in paths of saving justice
    as befits his name.

Even were I to walk in a ravine as dark as death
I should fear no danger, for you are at my side.
Your staff and your crook are there to soothe me.

You prepare a table for me
    under the eyes of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup brims over.

Kindness and faithful love pursue me
    every day of my life.
I make my home in the house of Yahweh
    for all time to come.

Romans 5: 5-11

and a hope which will not let us down, because the love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. When we were still helpless, at the appointed time, Christ died for the godless. You could hardly find anyone ready to die even for someone upright; though it is just possible that, for a really good person, someone might undertake to die. So it is proof of God’s own love for us, that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. How much more can we be sure, therefore, that, now that we have been justified by his death, we shall be saved through him from the retribution of God. For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, how much more can we be sure that, being now reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. What is more, we are filled with exultant trust in God, through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have already gained our reconciliation.

John 6: 37-40

Everyone whom the Father gives me
   will come to me;
I will certainly not reject
anyone who comes to me,
because I have come from heaven,
not to do my own will,
but to do the will of him who sent me.
Now the will of him who sent me
is that I should lose nothing
of all that he has given to me,
but that I should raise it up
   on the last day.
It is my Father's will
that whoever sees the Son
   and believes in him
should have eternal life,
and that I should raise that person up
   on the last day.

November 2, 2006 message continues

Messenger:      God calls us to purity and we cannot
                            bend the commandments and say
well in our case - it's okay —
                            the commandments are to be
                            obeyed.

When Moses went up the mountain
                            and came down with the
                            commandments they were sinning —
So He threw them down —

                        When we know the commandments

The Ten Commandments

  1.   I, the Lord, am your God. You shall not have other gods besides me.

  2.   You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain.

  3.   Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.

  4.   Honor your father and your mother.

  5.   You shall not kill.

  6.   You shall not commit adultery.

  7.   You shall not steal.

  8.   You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

  9.   You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.

  10.   You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Messenger:      We know God expects us to
                            obey them.

A lady had a small spot on her
                            hand where she burned herself
                            as a child.

Later in life as she viewed the spot
she said isn't it funny after all
these years it is still here.

She did not know that a big
                            cancer was growing inside —
it was hidden from her eyes.

God gives us the commandments —
                            they are to be obeyed.

                        Moses received the
                            commandments from God —
                            coming down he saw the
                            sins, the disobedience.

All things must be done according
                            to the commandments.

Our lady said that satan tries to make
right - wrong and wrong - right.

We can work all our lives to build
                            something and God gives us
special grace to do His will if
                            we ask.

The Son of God came to this earth and
died a brutal death for His
                            precious souls.

Today when we identify with Christ —
we must want to do God's
will for our own salvation and
                            the souls He died for.

                        God is love.

                        God is light.

                        God is peace,
but satan will try to get us
                            divided —
                            to give into earthly pleasures,
                            to sin
satan wants us to get caught
                            in traps where we bend
                            the rules and then we
do not rely on Jesus, personally,
                            for our help —

Jesus wants this oneness with us —
                            Jesus wants us holy
Jesus wants us to obey the commandments
Jesus wants us to show others how
                                we obey the commandments

I will not be enslaved to
bad moods that satan wants us
                        to be in.

                            I control my thoughts.
                            Jesus is with me.
                            Jesus loves me.
                            Jesus will take care of
                                His work through
                                me.

                        On this all souls day
                            Focus on the souls
                                of purgatory.

Jesus gave His life for me —
Jesus loves me so much —
Jesus has a plan for me

I give my heart to Jesus and
                            Mary with you in love.

                        Be grateful.

Serve God for the sake of
                            serving God.
