New Cycle B - Guiding Light Homily Book

Given February 3, 2015

Dear Friends,

I give my heart to Jesus and Mary with you in love.

Well thank God we are finally able to resume the Priestly Mailing of Fr. Joe's last homily book.

This was delayed for almost 2 months and
God really wants this to reach our beloved priests.

That means we send out at least 35,000 of Fr. Joe's Homily books yearly to priests and hierarchy.
This is a weekly Newsletter, Jesus says.
If a priest preaches to  parishioners every weekend
they could reach so many people with the focus on the Word of Fr Joe's insights and knowledge he offers-the history of the scriptures and the Eucharist.

There are so many priests in New York this is the next mailing.
We will need $2,000 for the postage if we can mail it by next Monday.

Please help us with a donation for the postage if you can or the expense of this mailing now.

We need your prayers

We need your help

Thank you
Love in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary
Rita

We are praying for you  Feb 2 thru 5  and Feb 10 thru 13.
Please be united
We have had the exposed Eucharist in China 8 years today.

We had Eucharistic adoration for about 11 years for 24 hours a day.

Thank you.

Rita

                February 9, 2015 - 8:00 a.m.

                R. Peace and Justice will kiss –

We seek to live in the order God wishes
                    in relationships.
Children are to obey their parents –
                    Priests are under Bishops.

Children are under their parents, it is
because of them they exist –

Parents took care of the child to help
                    the child live –

Men must be over others in a community,
in a family, at work etc.
Men must obey other men – there must
                    be order.

We recognize Mary as our spiritual Mother,
as the Mother of God –
                    we pray through the intercession
                    of the saints.

God has told us He wants us to love
                    Mary and love the saints.

Obedience in religious life has been in
                    the rule for centuries –
In the rule of religious –
That men take the promise or vow
to superiors in religious life –

The Franciscans wear 3 knots for
                    poverty, chastity and obedience.

We are under obedience to God - to
do His will. He is the Creator
                    we are the creatures.

To have the common good of men –
there must be order among men –

Man cannot have real happiness if he
is not obedient to the will of God.

We have seen how important it is
for men to obey authority when dealing
                    in directions with countries and
                    countries –
the command of authority is to be
obeyed – or willful men down
the line could hurt the whole
                    country, but the leaders are
to be men that are just, seeking the good
of the country and seeking good God
                    would want.

The highest command is to be obeyed
when a person is under a
                    lesser command.

The person in charge is under the
                    higher command. A person under
one in charge is not to go to
those under him and tell them
what to do and tell them to keep it
                    from the high authority –

He can run a shadow government –
He can go to all the places of a
                    certain organization – tell those
in charge to obey him and then
tell them to keep that secret from
the head over all of them – This
violates the order of the institution
and the power starts with the man
who secretly tries to run things under
                    the head authority.

                    Ultimately authority is from God.

                R. This is a man seeking dominance for dominance
                    sake –
this is what Eve did in the Garden –
Eve wanted to decide what was right
                        and wrong without God –

Today we see men who want to decide
                    what is right and wrong
                    without God –

God is the Creator – we are the creatures –

We see order in all He creates –

God created an orderly world –
God created a harmonious world –
God created a beautiful world, full
of good things for men –

God made men in His image and
                    likeness –

God wants order in the world –

Men raising up for brute power over
                    other men –

Men trying to be leaders not concerned
with the good of other men
                    under God, but their brute
                    power to harm men is
                    wrong –

Power is given to men to help order,
under God, to exist for good
                    not evil –

Satan wants men to give them their
                    power so he can bring
                    down evil to innocent
                    men –

Satan did this with Eve in the
                    Garden –

                Satan wants to operate through
                    men – under authority to
                    disobey authority – to
                    challenge authority and
                    to discredit just authority –

The rules of poverty, chastity and
                    obedience have been the vows
of those in the consecrated life
                    for hundred and hundred of
years – in orders in the
                    Church –

                Given February 8, 2015

                R. Fr. Joe says

"When the Babylonians conquered the Jews,
                destroyed their cities and Temple,
and took the surviving Jews to Babylon,
as captives and slaves, the Jews
concluded God was punishing them for
                the sins of their ancestors.

They complained that God was not
                being fair to them.

We hear God tell them through the
prophet Ezekiel, it is their own
sins that created the disaster they
were suffering. Yet with God the
                situation is never hopeless.
They can always change their ways.
If we have damaged our relationship
with God, we can always change
                our ways."

God has given us a free will –

We have a choice to choose light
                    or darkness.

Remember Your mercy, Oh Lord –

                God is a just judge.

A person who loves wants unity
                    and is giving justice to
                    another –

The person of injustice is not in
                    union with another, but
                    is divided with others –

God commands us to love –

The person who wishes to inflict
                    injustice on another is
                    willing to hurt another person
and it can grow and grow and
be habitual to inflict harm in
                    bad habits on others.

God calls us to a virtuous life.
God calls us to live justly.
                God commands us to love.

If a man is untrustworthy because
they wish harm to others –
                    if they are not trustworthy
it is very difficult to be
able to work with that person –

God wants a person to be trustworthy.

A person who is a religious, wears a habit,
says to the world - they are living
                    as God desires –
                    they should be trustworthy, just,
                    and loving –

A habit tells the world – they wear
a cloth to tell the world –
they have put on Christ –
                    Christ wants love, harmony,
                    justice, trustworthiness –

                It is a paradox to
wear a habit and will to be untrustworthy –

When men are untrustworthy – you
have trouble working with them –

When you cannot tell what they do
from day to day with regard
to what is just – fruitfulness –
Jesus says, in work, is -
                        destroyed.

Injustice hurts what is good for
                    the community, for individuals –

                Justice, trust brings happiness
                    to the community, the family,
                    the society –

An example of this is a person that
                    is unpredictable –
One receives a job – God intends
them to show as a leader to
lead others to what is good –

A person who is unjust and unpredictable
is, when called by God to lead and
                    be a witness, a good example –
A person who is unjust and
                    unpredictable destroys happiness
                    of community and family because
                    they are unjust, untrustworthy,
                    unpredictable –

They bring – NOT GOOD to the
community – If they are habitually,
                    so they bring pain, problems,
                    disorder and unhappiness to
                    those God has called them
to love – to lead – to be
                    a witness to –

A person putting on Christ is bringing
                    good to others –
                    their actions bring happiness to
others because it is good –

Satan tempts a person to use their position
to do evil and to harm the
                    community, family –
                    individuals –

A person who is not serving God as
he should, can be serving satan
                    habitually and be an instrument
                    satan uses to operate through.

God wants us to be virtuous and
                    holy, trustworthy, united and
He works in us if we are pure,
                    because we have put on
Christ and He operates in us –

                Jesus: Injustice, untrustworthiness,
                    brings unhappiness and hurts
                    the family and community –
A person who is united to Me –
                    seeks unity and oneness –
                    harmony and love –

                If unpredictable, untrustworthy
                    behavior dominates an individual,
                    if willfulness, confusion,
                    abuse, punishment dominates
                    their behavior –
                    there is no growth –
                    who would subject themselves
to behavior such as this –

This behavior is the work of satan
to oppose the Father's will –

                I outpour blessings, graces
                    for order and obedience to
                    authority –

No one wants to be subject
                    to unpredictable, selfish
                    behavior –

A man serving Me in justice and
                    love is seeking to bring
                    good to souls and they
                    are able to work with
                    because their life is
                    lived to promote unity –

A person that is virtuous is humble –
they obey just authority – they
                    see authority from God as
                    the way God blesses them.

They want to be corrected to do
                    God's will in greater purity
                    and love –

Pride is not their god –

God is their God and they want
to serve God and be united to
                    God in holy love, intimately.

                Humility is truth –

They seek the truth to know their
                    faults.

In their heart they seek happiness –
                    happiness is union with God.

                They seek good –
                They seek unity –

They live to bring good not harm
to those they are to lead and
                    witness to –

They want to live in purity to be
more and more in My image
                    and likeness –

Their job is in service to God –
not a job where they use
                    people to bring darkness
                    and division –

A person living to bring harm, darkness
and division to others that are doing
God's will are being used by satan
to try to block the good work
                    in the holy ones.

A man who is My servant wants
good. I am all good –
                    I am all just –

In the end the men who do harm
to others, doing evil to others and
do not repent – will be judged
                    by Me –

I am a God of justice

Song: I Am a God of Justice

Jesus: I taught you how to serve –
I taught you how to love –
I taught you how to live

I am the way, the truth and the life.

I am the Suffering Servant –

Adam and Eve wanted to decide what
was right and wrong without God –

A leader for Me, is to be just to his brothers,
                    to live under God –
                    God is always the reason
                        they act –
They act to do God's will –
Never to inflict harm on their
                    brother to manipulate an evil,
                    punishing outcome wrought
in hatred, bitterness and anger –

                I am God

My Movement is to help renew
the Church and the world –
It is to be a Movement of
                    oneness, harmony and love –
                    not bitterness, anger and manipulation.

                Justice is a virtue.

                Justice brings good –

Man cannot make his own rules –
decide what is right and wrong
                        without God –

                Rules, Laws from God brings
                    order –

A man prays for piety to
                    be submissive
to God in their vocation –
                    to bring justice, goodness
and love to his brothers and
and to live under God –
a man who does God's will
                    is just to his brothers
a man is to operate in God's will
                    in love –

A just man is honorable before God.
A just man lives to do good - not evil.
A just man lives to be trustworthy.

In this world there is injustice
                    before Me, persecution –
                    terrorist –

Evil is done before God –

I know every evil deed –

I paid the price for your sins –

Wisdom directs all things well –

Where there is justice there is
                    wisdom –

It is only in peace in one's heart
                    with Me and order
                    according to the Father's
will can man be happy –

                A man willfully harming others
                    in evil - drives themselves
away from unity with God –

A just man wishes good for his
                    brothers doing God's will –
                    not evil - contempt, etc.

People are being slaughtered today –
                    Blood baths –
                    Beheadings –
                    Murdering Christians –
                    Killing babies
                    Burning churches –

This is My Movement to pray and be
holy – to live virtuously and to help
bring love to this world –

                Remember Your mercy, Oh Lord

John 10: 27

The sheep that belong to me
         listen to my voice;
I know them and they follow me.

Matthew 21: 12-17, 28-32

                R. The religious leaders
                    challenged Jesus because He
                    overturned the moneychangers
                    in the temple –

We see the parable of the two sons –
Jesus said, which of the two
                    did his Father's will?

The second son was all talk and
                    no action –

                Jesus compared this to religious
                    leaders who are all talk
                    and no action

                Jesus said,

Matthew 7: 21

'It is not anyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord," who will enter the kingdom of Heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven.

                R. Remember in the scriptures –
the owner is out of town and
                    if a servant serves his
master he will be blessed –

                but the other servant
                    all talk - no action!!

How does it work in a marriage
to Jesus, if you say you
will do something and never do.

A ring on the finger is significant
                    for a special union!

What about work – when one is
told to do something and they
don't do it – do something
                    else – block communication –

What about sins of holding out
what God is asking us to do.
                    Bishop Sheen says - that
                    is a choice –
                    to do nothing –
                    when God asks for obedience
when God ask for something –
                    He says, to do nothing,
is disobedience to God's will –

                Jesus: The Cross of Christ

                Division against authority,
                    in communities is against the
                    whole picture of the Church.

The Church is in the state of becoming –

                    It is to be
                        ONE, HOLY, CATHOLIC and
                            APOSTOLIC

Adam and Eve wanted independence from
what they were told by God –
they wanted to decide what was
                    right and wrong without God!

                Cain killed his brother –

The world was so corrupt I flooded
the earth at the time of Noah –

The sign of the rainbow is a sign of
My Covenant with the human race –

Genesis 6: 12-14

God looked at the earth: it was corrupt, for corrupt were the ways of all living things on earth.

God said to Noah, ‘I have decided that the end has come for all living things, for the earth is full of lawlessness because of human beings. So I am now about to destroy them and the earth. Make yourself an ark out of resinous wood. Make it of reeds and caulk it with pitch inside and out.

‘For my part I am going to send the flood, the waters, on earth, to destroy all living things having the breath of life under heaven; everything on earth is to perish. But with you I shall establish my covenant and you will go aboard the ark, yourself, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives along with you. From all living creatures, from all living things, you must take two of each kind aboard the ark, to save their lives with yours; they must be a male and a female. Of every species of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that creeps along the ground, two must go with you so that their lives may be saved.

Jesus: The animals even were put on the Ark

Noah's family put on the Ark –

                I give you baptism –

Mary's Immaculate Heart is the Ark –

I sent the rainbow to show never
again would I flood the whole
                    human race –

Jesus: Many men are constantly rebelling against God.

They built the Tower of Babel –
                    I confused their languages –

Many men want to decide what is right and
                    wrong independent of God

Abram shows his faith in God

The devil tempts men to try to do their
own will against God's will –

                The devil is real –

                God renews His covenant with
                    Abraham –

                Sodom and Gomorrah are destroyed
                    because of their willfulness.
They are destroyed by fire from
                    heaven –

Esau and Jacob were born –

Jacob is blessed by Isaac –

                Jacob marries Rachel –

                Joseph is born –

                Joseph becomes powerful after
                    all his trials –

                Joseph's brothers betrayed Joseph.

                Joseph ruled over Egypt –

Aaron was born. Moses was born.

The Pharaoh wanted all male children
                    of the Israelites drowned.

Moses was left in a basket on

                Pharaoh's daughter adopted Moses –

Moses had to leave when he was big –

Moses saw the burning bush –

The Pharaoh ignored Moses and Aaron.

God sent plagues to the Pharaoh
blood, frogs, mosquitoes, horseflies, boils, hail,
death of the livestock, locusts, darkness –
death of first-born (10 in all)

                Pharaoh disobeyed God –
even after the death of the
                    first-born –

Once again we see the dividing

                Pharaoh was made obstinate –
                Pharaoh was consumed in the
                    Red Sea –

                The Israelites were saved by
the parting of the Red Sea by

God made a Covenant with Moses
at Mount Sinai and gave him
                    the Ten Commandments.

Moses came down the mountain and
they had made a golden calf.

                Moses threw the tablets of
                    stone with the commandments
                    and they broke –

Moses again went up the mountain
                    the next day –

God does not want rebellion and
                    disobedience –

                R. We see the human race –
                    over and over again
                    rebelling against God and
                    disobeying and suffering –

                Moses was their Prophet –

God made a Covenant with Moses –

                The Israelites needed water –
                    Moses did bring forth water
                    from the rock, but
                    Moses distrusted –

God tells Moses he will not
                    enter the Promised Land –

When we disobey God mortally in sin
                    and do not seek forgiveness
we can lose our soul to hell
                    forever.

                Moses renewed the Covenant of
                    Israel with God –

                Joshua led the Israelites now.

                Joshua died.

                The Israelites were worshipping

                Solomon built the temple –

                Solomon had wives that worshipped

even with all his wisdom –
                    Solomon did disobedient

Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time

Jeremiah 23: 1-6

‘Disaster for the shepherds who lose and scatter the sheep of my pasture, Yahweh declares. This, therefore, is what Yahweh, God of Israel, says about the shepherds who shepherd my people, "You have scattered my flock, you have driven them away and have not taken care of them. Right, I shall take care of you for your misdeeds, Yahweh declares! But the remnant of my flock I myself shall gather from all the countries where I have driven them, and bring them back to their folds; they will be fruitful and increase in numbers. For them I shall raise up shepherds to shepherd them and pasture them. No fear, no terror for them any more; not one shall be lost, Yahweh declares!

   Look, the days are coming,
      Yahweh declares,
when I shall raise an upright Branch
      for David;
he will reign as king and be wise,
doing what is just and upright
      in the country.

In his days Judah will triumph
   and Israel live in safety.
And this is the name he will be called,
  ‘Yahweh–is–our–Saving–Justice.’ "

  Sixteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time

July 19, 2009

HOMILY: There was a man who worked in a museum whose job it was to explain the different exhibits. On one occasion he pointed to the bones of a dinosaur saying the bones were 100 million and 9 years old. Someone asked how they could date those bones so accurately. He said “well, when I started working here, I was told these bones were 100 million years old and I’ve worked here for nine years.”

Today I want to give everyone a little history lesson. I’m not going back to the dinosaurs, but I am going back pretty far – to King David, 1000 years before Christ. When I was in school, I hated history. It wasn’t until we studied the history of the Old Testament in the seminary that I began to appreciate it. I cannot cram 1000 years of history into a couple of minutes. I just want to touch on the parts of Jewish history that are mentioned in today’s reading. If you want to learn more, read everything in the Old Testament, but be sure you have a commentary to help you. Otherwise, you’ll give up in despair because you won’t know what it’s all about - especially the prophets and the historical books.

When David was king 1000 years before Christ, David wanted to build a house for God, since there was no Temple for God at that time. God did not give David permission to do so, however God promised David through the prophet Nathan that he would bless him and build David a house in the sense that David’s kingdom would continue forever and one of his descendants would always rule. This blessing lasted through the reign of David’s son, Solomon; but we humans somehow have the ability to sabotage God’s blessings. Solomon turned to pagan gods and over-extended the country financially by elaborate building projects and exorbitant taxes, so when Solomon died there was a rebellion and most of Israel broke away from Solomon’s successor, David’s grandson, Rehoboam. Rehoboam continued to rule over the southern part of Israel, the area we know as Judaea . For 400 years (and this is amazing) the kings of Judaea were descendants of King David. The northern kingdom that rebelled against David’s successors suffered under a succession of kings and rebellions. In less than 300 years the northern kingdom was destroyed by the Assyrians, people from northern Iraq. About 100 years after that, the Babylonians from southern Iraq conquered the Assyrians and took control of the entire Middle East. The conquest of the Babylonians brings us up to Jeremiah whom we heard in today’s first reading. At the time of Jeremiah, here was the situation: the northern kingdom no longer existed. The southern kingdom, Judaea, was still being ruled by David’s descendants but they were not loyal to God or to God’s laws. Jeremiah spoke to these kings as they came into power, the last four being: Jehoahaz, Jehoiakim, Jehoikin and Zedekiah. Zedikiah, the last reigning king, died in disgrace. After the Babylonians captured him, his sons were slaughtered before his eyes, he was then blinded and led off to Babylon in chains where he presumably died. You can read how Jeremiah spoke with them in great detail in the book of Jeremiah. He told them exactly what they needed to do to survive the invading forces of Babylon. His messages were ignored. He blames them and their leadership for the destruction that came upon God’s people. As we heard in today’s first reading, God speaks through Jeremiah: “Woe to the shepherds who mislead and scatter the flock of my pasture.” God said he would take over shepherding his people; he would bring them back from exile; he would appoint leaders over them who would serve them well and lead them to peace and security. It took 600 years before God thought the world was ready for this king who would reign and govern wisely, who would do what is just and right in the land.

But then he came, through the announcement of an angel to a virgin who was engaged to a man named Joseph of the house of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel said to her “Do not be afraid Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father, and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of his Kingdom there will be no end.”

In last week’s gospel, Jesus sent his apostles out to heal and cast out demons and to call people to repentance. In today’s gospel we are told of their return, excited over their experience and tired. Jesus wanted to some time off, but he couldn’t. The mission of Jesus and his apostles apparently was so successful that a great crowd caught up with them before they had chance to catch their breath. Mark describes Jesus taking compassion on them (his heart was moved with deep sympathy for them would probably be a better translation). He saw them as sheep without a shepherd, - people without leadership, and he began to teach them.

One of the important messages in today’s readings is that in love our Lord leads us, by teaching us and appointing others to teach us. But we need to listen, and we need to keep on listening. We’ll never be finished listening and learning as long as our world suffers from injustice, poverty, hunger, discrimination, war, hatred and killing of innocent people. Christ would be put to death before he would stop teaching. It is to our own great loss when we stop listening. That’s one of the reasons we are here each weekend, to listen and to learn. We call ourselves disciples. The word disciple means learner. When we’ve quit learning, we’ve quit being a disciple.

                Given February 7, 2015

                R. Lord, I know I have a good mind
and I have all that I need to do
what You want me to do –

We can see things as working out.
Have a positive outlook, see the
                best and expect it.

Vision – the golfer who wants
                to make a hole-in-one – sees the
ball going in – in his mind –

We have been called to live according
to His will. In order – under authority –
supporting what those over us ask us
                to do.

Hebrews 12: 4-7, 11-15

In the fight against sin, you have not yet had to keep fighting to the point of bloodshed.

Have you forgotten that encouraging text in which you are addressed as sons?

My son, do not scorn correction
        from the Lord,
    do not resent his training,
for the Lord trains those he loves,
and chastises every son he accepts.

Perseverance is part of your training; God is treating you as his sons. Has there ever been any son whose father did not train him?

Of course, any discipline is at the time a matter for grief, not joy; but later, in those who have undergone it, it bears fruit in peace and uprightness. So steady all weary hands and trembling knees and make your crooked paths straight; then the injured limb will not be maimed, it will get better instead. Seek peace with all people, and the holiness without which no one can ever see the Lord. Be careful that no one is deprived of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness should begin to grow and make trouble; this can poison a large number.

                R. Our goal is to live more and more
in the image of Jesus – in love –

We can think of all the saints and
angels in heaven. We can focus on living
in perfect love in the embrace of
                the Trinity for all eternity.

We see the vastness of the ocean,
the sky so beautiful above – can
we put such magnificence in a bottle?
Can you count the stars in the sky?
Can you ever see the beauty of how
a bird flies with such precision?
Can you imagine how the cycle of
life in animals, fish & trees continue
all over the face of the earth.

Can you ever see how a 3 pound
baby has all they need to grow to
be a perfect adult and healthy and
                live 100 years in happiness?

Do you understand the way a human eye
can see and a human ear can hear
for so many years? How about
                teeth, think of how they
chew food and last so long –

Look at the star-studded sky –
look at the beauty of the sun on
                a crystal lake –

Can you see how you have
chosen to live your life –
Was it lived in a mind that was
looking for things to work out –

Did you live to try to see things
                    working out in love and
for good in union with Jesus
                    first?

Can we live our days we wasted
                    again?

No, but we can live the rest of our
life seeing the best, working out –

Our decisions – how we choose
                    life or death make
                    the difference –

We can try to do what the Father
                    wants us to do.

                We can choose negative behavior
patterns that are acted - out
                    from survival patterns of
the past and miss a life
of love – its a lot of what
we decide in thinking about things
in our mind that makes the difference –

God calls us to live in order –
. to obey those over us –
. to know God sends spiritual guides
                        to help us
. to know the Word – so the Word
                        lives in us –

If we want to be happy we have to
see purity in heart and soul –
We can have the simplicity of
the heart of a child –

Matthew 11: 25

At that time Jesus exclaimed, 'I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children.

                R. A person can make their own
                    unhappiness or
can choose to try to be happy –

Bay in Clearwater

                R. Rely on God –

Don't try to force your will
to get a solution if it
could be the wrong solution –

Pray and let God work –

                Wait on His solution –

Be ready to say "yes" to God,
                    don't be willful.

Love helps the heart to sing –

The devil wants a person to try to
                    control everything. God works
in His way and in His timing –

God works in suffering many times –

                R. Even when some people are suffering
                    the sun shines and
                    the ocean looks beautiful.

A person who lives in anger has
a tight body – think of what
                    unforgiveness and suppressed anger
does to squeeze your own organs in
                    the body –

When a person has anger - suppressed –
they need to recover from this inside.

Why do they waste their days trying
to work their darkness on others rather
than live in purity and love –
seeing that they are trying to do what
God wants them to do with love –

We know that Jesus healed and taught –

Fr. Joe gave this homily last Sunday.

Deuteronomy 18: 15-20

Yahweh your God will raise up a prophet like me; you will listen to him. This is exactly what you asked Yahweh your God to do—at Horeb, on the day of the Assembly, when you said, "Never let me hear the voice of Yahweh my God or see this great fire again, or I shall die." Then Yahweh said to me, "What they have said is well said. From their own brothers I shall raise up a prophet like yourself; I shall put my words into his mouth and he will tell them everything I command him. Anyone who refuses to listen to my words, spoken by him in my name, will have to render an account to me. But the prophet who presumes to say something in my name which I have not commanded him to say, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet must die."

Psalm 95: 1-2, 6-9

Come, let us cry out with joy to Yahweh,
acclaim the rock of our salvation.
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving,
acclaim him with music.

Come, let us bow low and do reverence;
kneel before Yahweh who made us!
For he is our God,
and we the people of his sheepfold,
the flock of his hand.

If only you would listen to him today!
Do not harden your hearts as at Meribah,
as at the time of Massah in the desert,
when your ancestors challenged me,
put me to the test, and saw what I could do!

1 Corinthians 7: 32-35

I should like you to have your minds free from all worry. The unmarried man gives his mind to the Lord’s affairs and to how he can please the Lord; but the man who is married gives his mind to the affairs of this world and to how he can please his wife, and he is divided in mind. So, too, the unmarried woman, and the virgin, gives her mind to the Lord’s affairs and to being holy in body and spirit; but the married woman gives her mind to the affairs of this world and to how she can please her husband. I am saying this only to help you, not to put a bridle on you, but so that everything is as it should be, and you are able to give your undivided attention to the Lord.

Mark 1: 21-28

They went as far as Capernaum, and at once on the Sabbath he went into the synagogue and began to teach. And his teaching made a deep impression on them because, unlike the scribes, he taught them with authority.

And at once in their synagogue there was a man with an unclean spirit, and he shouted, ‘What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are: the Holy One of God.’ But Jesus rebuked it saying, ‘Be quiet! Come out of him!’ And the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and with a loud cry went out of him. The people were so astonished that they started asking one another what it all meant, saying, ‘Here is a teaching that is new, and with authority behind it: he gives orders even to unclean spirits and they obey him.’ And his reputation at once spread everywhere, through all the surrounding Galilean countryside.

                R. We can alter the thoughts in our mind.

We can try to play it safe and control our
life. A person can get killed going
to the grocery – Can you control
                    the events in your life?

The Word is the truth –

We can think wrong and keep on thinking
that way if we don't see to
                    change.

A wise man keeps the Word of God
in their heart and lives by this.

Psalm 27: 1-3

Yahweh is my light and my salvation,
    whom should I fear?
Yahweh is the fortress of my life,
    whom should I dread?

When the wicked advance against me
    to eat me up, they,
my opponents, my enemies,
are the ones who stumble and fall.

Though an army pitch camp against me,
    my heart will not fear,
though war break out against me,
my trust will never be shaken.

                R. Beginning to think differently means
we must seek what is truth,
                    what is right –

                The Scripture is right –

A person can live life - long living
                    unhappy thoughts and
                    dark thoughts and
                    thoughts of failure –

                                OR

A person can choose to think
                    happy thoughts and seeing
things bear fruit for the Kingdom.

                We can think destructive thoughts,
                    dividing thoughts, disharmonious
thoughts, isolating fearful thoughts, lies –

                                    OR

We can think thoughts that are rooted
in God – rooted in love –
rooted in the light harmonious, orderly
                    thoughts – the truth –

                Who controls our thoughts?

In the morning we can read the
                    Blue Book –

Jesus gave Fr. Carter the Newsletter

We can live by the Blue Books, the Word, the
                    commandments, the truth, spiritual writers
like Fr. Carter and Fr. Joe

We can have the Bible in our hearts –

Jesus is the way, the truth and
                    the life –

We can think our way to failure
We can think our way to shrinking what
God wants us to build –
rather than building up the Kingdom of God
and this movement – rooted in the Word –
                    rooted in the truth –
                    rooted in the Encyclicals
rooted in Theologians that spoke the truth

We can think our way into happiness –

                Fr. Joe said

"I think it was Abraham Lincoln
                        who said most people are
about as happy as they make
                        up their minds to be.'

We can choose to think positively –

To do so – if we are a negative
                    thinker – we have to
                    change our patterned
                    thinking behavior – but we
                    have to want to –

Love with our whole heart –

We were created to love God first
and love others as ourselves –

                God is love and
In Him there is no darkness

Jesus: Pray for an increase in faith,
                    hope and love.

Proverbs 17: 22

A glad heart is excellent medicine,
a depressed spirit wastes the bones away.

Philippians 4: 13

There is nothing I cannot do in the One who strengthens me.

Ephesians 4: 31-32

Any bitterness or bad temper or anger or shouting or abuse must be far removed from you-as must every kind of malice. Be generous to one another, sympathetic, forgiving each other as readily as God forgave you in Christ.

Matthew 21: 22

And if you have faith, everything you ask for in prayer, you will receive.'

Philippians 4: 6

Never worry about anything; but tell God all your desires of every kind in prayer and petition shot through with gratitude,

We cannot get these statues any more –
the men making them were from
Portugal and no longer do so

We will have a limited number
until they are gone –

These statues are a treasure, a work of art

At the end of this message are healings
from statues and the Jesus
and Mary waters –
