Mary: I stood beneath the cross of my Son, Jesus.
Today there is so much confusion in the world. Families
that pray the Shepherds of Christ Prayers as a family and
pray the rosary can receive very special blessings and
                healing graces, Jesus promised.

Use the Fatima statues with the glass as
a special remembrance of my presence,
as your Heavenly Mother, with you.

You should pray for healing of your family tree as
Jesus told you during the March Florida and China
                retreats.

You should pray for children and grandchildren
and future children in the family.

I want you to have a piece of the glass which
came from my image face and a statue of
Our Lady of Fatima in every home.

Give these statues to your family and friends.
When you pray the rosaries in the Blue Books
and the prayers, Jesus promises special graces
of healing for you and your family
                and for your needs.

We have given Rosaries from the Hearts of Jesus
and Mary from when Jesus and I appeared delivering
these rosaries. Pray them by candle-light and
we will be there with you in a special
way as you pray the Rosaries from the
Hearts of Jesus and Mary given in the Blue Books.

Pray for each other, pray for those you
are troubled about. Live in love.

                Today's Readings

Deuteronomy 4: 1, 5-9

And now, Israel, listen to the laws and customs which I am teaching you today, so that, by observing them, you may survive to enter and take possession of the country which Yahweh, God of your ancestors, is giving you.

Look: as Yahweh my God commanded me, I have taught you laws and customs, for you to observe in the country of which you are going to take possession. Keep them, put them into practice, and other peoples will admire your wisdom and prudence. Once they know what all these laws are, they will exclaim,  No other people is as wise and prudent as this great nation! And indeed, what great nation has its gods as near as Yahweh our God is to us whenever we call to him? And what great nation has laws and customs as upright as the entirety of this Law which I am laying down for you today?

'But take care, as you value your lives! Do not forget the things which you yourselves have seen, or let them slip from your heart as long as you live; teach them, rather, to your children and to your children's children.

Psalm 147: 12-13, 15-16, 19-20

Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem,
Zion, praise your God.

For he gives strength to the bars of your gates,
he blesses your children within you,

He sends his word to the earth,
his command runs quickly,
he spreads the snow like flax,
strews hoarfrost like ashes,

He reveals his word to Jacob,
his statutes and judgements to Israel.
For no other nation has he done this,
no other has known his judgements.

Matthew 5: 17-19

‘Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete them. In truth I tell you, till heaven and earth disappear, not one dot, not one little stroke, is to disappear from the Law until all its purpose is achieved. Therefore, anyone who infringes even one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be considered the least in the kingdom of Heaven; but the person who keeps them and teaches them will be considered great in the kingdom of Heaven.

                R. In today's world there are so many laws.
These are the laws to govern, laws
over men and their goods, their
                land, their rights –
                LAWS, LAWS, LAWS

Here are the 10 Commandments –

The Ten Commandments

  1. I, the Lord, am your God. You shall not have other gods besides me.
  2. You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain.
  3. Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.
  4. Honor your father and your mother.
  5. You shall not kill.
  6. You shall not commit adultery.
  7. You shall not steal.
  8. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
  9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.
  10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

                R. We say them every day –

They are laws God gave to Moses
to teach us how to love.

                The greatest commandment is –

Matthew 22: 36-40

Jesus said to him, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself.

                R. God gave us these 10 Commandments
                    so we have right relationships
                    with each other and God!
                    The 10 Commandments summed
                    up equal the greatest
                    commandment.

                The first 3 commandments are
                    about our relationship with
                    God.

The other 7 are about our
                    relationship with others
                    and ourselves.

They are commands from God teaching
us to relate as He desires
in the Father's will in love.

                We see in salvation history
the rebellion of man to obey
                    God.

We see the division and hatred
                    and evil, men do.

We see men enslaved to sin
                    making laws they expect
                    others to follow.

Hitler made laws – men followed
                    and killed innocent others.

Jesus gave us the Church –
Jesus gave us the sacraments –

God gives us the waters of
                    baptism – He gives us
                    a sharing in His life.

                Jesus gives us confession
                    so we can have our
                    sins forgiven.

Novena to the Infant of Prague
(to be prayed hourly if possible)

O Jesus, who said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted.

O Jesus, who said, "All that you ask of the Father in My Name He will grant you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Your Father in Your Name that my prayer be granted.

O Jesus, who said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted.

                R. God has given us a Covenant
                    of love, but we are
                    to obey the Commandments.

1st Commandment – I, the Lord, am your God. You shall not have other gods besides me.

                R. We are to believe God –

We are to worship and trust God –
to love Him above all things!

We are to practice faith, hope and love –
                    the first commandment really
                    tells us this –

John 14: 15

If you love me
   you will keep my commandments.

                R. Our relationship with God is
                    rooted in faith!

God teaches us His truths in the
Church – we are to believe
                    His truths!

We can't make up what we
                    want to believe!

We profess the faith at Mass –
We profess the faith in the Apostles Creed
when we pray the rosary –

                God wants this Profession of
                    faith – it pleases Him,
it is His will for us.

God is to be worshipped and put
                    first in our life!

We are not to despair – these are
                    sins against hope –
                    Jesus is our Savior we
                        depend on God!

We are to trust in God –
We are to love as God commands.

                2nd Commandment

Thou shalt not take the name of
the Lord thy God in vain.

                We show reverence to God.
                We don't blaspheme God –
                    or mock God – we
                    love His Church –
                    We reverence holy objects –

We don't use God's name irreverently!

                We don't curse others!

                We don't swear against God!
                    (lying)

3rd Commandment – Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.

                R. We worship God on Sunday.

There is a Church Law that
says, we are to go to
                    Church on Sunday –

We are to keep the whole
                    day holy on Sunday and
                    focus in our hearts
                    "It is God's day"

4th Commandment – Honor your father and your mother.

Sirach 3: 12-16

My child, support your father in his old age,
do not grieve him during his life.
Even if his mind should fail, show him sympathy,
    do not despise him in your health and strength;
for kindness to a father will not be forgotten
but will serve as reparation for your sins.
On your own day of ordeal God will remember you:
like frost in sunshine, your sins will melt away.
Whoever deserts a father is no better than a blasphemer,
and whoever distresses a mother is accursed of the Lord.

                R. God teaches us about parents
being so important to us –
                    God wants us to love
                    our parents.

We are to respect authority –
We are to respect authority in
                    the family of God.

Parents are to provide for the
                    children when they are
                    growing up – their
                    needs as children,
                    their spiritual life.

Sons and daughters when growing up
are to obey their parents –
when they are under age and
                    are still dependent on their
                    parents which is not in
                    opposition to the laws
                    of God or the Church.

We are to obey the Church.

Matthew 16: 18-19

So I now say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my community. And the gates of the underworld can never overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.’

                R. We are to love our country –

5th Commandment – You shall not kill.

Matthew 5: 21-26

‘You have heard how it was said to our ancestors, You shall not kill; and if anyone  does kill he must answer for it before the court. But I say this to you, anyone who is  angry with a brother will answer for it before the court; anyone who calls a brother "Fool"  will answer for it before the Sanhedrin; and anyone who calls him "Traitor" will answer for it in hell fire. So then, if you are bringing your offering to the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there before the altar, go and be reconciled with your brother first, and then come back and present your offering. Come to terms with your opponent in good time while you are still on the way to the court with him, or he may hand you over to the judge and the judge to the officer, and you will be thrown into prison. In truth I tell you, you will not get out till you have paid the last penny.

                R. We are to love our brothers as ourselves!

We are to preserve our own life,
                    take care of our health,
                    body and soul –

                Abortion of an innocent fetus
                    is wrong –

                R. We are not to have unjust anger
                    against our brother –

To kill in self-defense (if somebody is
attacking your life) is not sinful –

To be in a just war –

We are to preserve our health
                    and our life –

We are not to hate others and
                    wish evil for another.

We have a free will –
we are to love the person and
                    hate the sin.

Matthew 6: 14-15

‘Yes, if you forgive others their failings, your heavenly Father will forgive you yours; but if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive your failings either.

                R. We are not to be uncharitable
                    in our words and actions.

6th Commandment – You shall not commit adultery.

1 Corinthians 6: 19-20

Do you not realise that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you and whom you received from God? You are not your own property, then; you have been bought at a price. So use your body for the glory of God.

Hebrews 13: 4

Marriage must be honoured by all, and marriages must be kept undefiled, because the sexually immoral and adulterers will come under God's judgement.

Ephesians 5: 5

For you can be quite certain that nobody who indulges in sexual immorality or impurity or greed — which is worshipping a false god — can inherit the kingdom of God.

                R. Adultery is a sin!

We are to be modest, not
                    to intentionally try to
                    tempt others into sins
                    of the flesh!

                We are to be pure.
                We are to be chaste.

                Seek the virtue of chastity!

7th Commandment – You shall not steal.

Genesis 1: 26-30

God said, ‘Let us make man in our own image, in the likeness of ourselves, and let them be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven, the cattle, all the wild animals and all the creatures that creep along the ground.’

God created man in the image of himself,
in the image of God he created him,
male and female he created them.

God blessed them, saying to them, ‘Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters of the fish of the sea, the birds of heaven and all the living creatures that move on earth.’ God also said, ‘Look, to you I give all the seed–bearing plants everywhere on the surface of the earth, and all the trees with seed–bearing fruit; this will be your food. And to all the wild animals, all the birds of heaven and all the living creatures that creep along the ground, I give all the foliage of the plants as their food.’ And so it was.

                R. There is one God –
Father, Son and Holy Spirit –

God created us out of love.

Matthew 16: 26

What, then, will anyone gain by winning the whole world and forfeiting his life? Or what can anyone offer in exchange for his life?

                R. We must respect the property of
                    others –

                Pay our debts –

                Be honest in business –

                Pay what we owe –

                We are to make restitution
                    for what we do wrong.

8th Commandment – You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

James 3: 2-12

For we all trip up in many ways.

Someone who does not trip up in speech has reached perfection and is able to keep the whole body on a right rein. Once we put a bit in the horse's mouth, to make it do what we want, we have the whole animal under our control. Or think of ships: no matter how big they are, even if a gale is driving them, they are directed by a tiny rudder wherever the whim of the helmsman decides. So the tongue is only a tiny part of the body, but its boasts are great. Think how small a flame can set fire to a huge forest; The tongue is a flame too. Among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a whole wicked world: it infects the whole body; catching fire itself from hell, it sets fire to the whole wheel of creation. Wild animals and birds, reptiles and fish of every kind can all be tamed, and have been tamed, by humans; but nobody can tame the tongue — it is a pest that will not keep still, full of deadly poison. We use it to bless the Lord and Father, but we also use it to curse people who are made in God's image: the blessing and curse come out of the same mouth. My brothers, this must be wrong — does any water supply give a flow of fresh water and salt water out of the same pipe? Can a fig tree yield olives, my brothers, or a vine yield figs? No more can sea water yield fresh water.

                R. We are not to lie –

                Satan is the father
                    of lies!

Jesus is the way, the truth and
                    the life –

9th Commandment – You shall not covet your neighbor's wife.

10th Commandment – You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Matthew 18: 18

‘In truth I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Revelation 12: 1-4

Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman, robed with the sun, standing on the moon, and on her head a crown of twelve stars. She was pregnant, and in labour, crying aloud in the pangs of childbirth. Then a second sign appeared in the sky: there was a huge red dragon with seven heads and ten horns, and each of the seven heads crowned with a coronet. Its tail swept a third of the stars from the sky and hurled them to the ground, and the dragon stopped in front of the woman as she was at the point of giving birth, so that it could eat the child as soon as it was born.

                R. Do unto others as you would
                    have them do unto you.

                We are all sinners –
We are to work on relationships –
                    Sin is rupturing relationships
                        with God and others –

The truth is to be lived by
                    us.

We are to do God's will and
                    live in love –

                Obeying the Commandments of God
and giving a good example to others.

                This is not a complete
                    description of the 10
                    Commandments and
all the things it entails –
                    It is a discussion of
                        some of the concerns.

Excerpt of The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, by Louis J. Puhl, S.J. P.60-61

136. THE FOURTH DAY

        A MEDITATION ON TWO STANDARDS

The one of Christ, our supreme leader and lord,
the other of Lucifer, the deadly enemy of our
human nature

PRAYER.   The usual preparatory prayer.

window at a former Jesuit Seminary

137. FIRST PRELUDE.   This is the history. Here it will be that Christ calls and wants all beneath His standard, and Lucifer, on the other hand, wants all under his.

138. SECOND PRELUDE.   This is a mental representation of the place. It will be here to see a great plain, comprising the whole region about Jerusalem, where the sovereign Commander-in-Chief of all the good is Christ our Lord; and another plain about the region of Babylon, where the chief of the enemy is Lucifer.

139. THIRD PRELUDE.   This is to ask for what I desire. Here it will be to ask for a knowledge of the deceits of the rebel chief and help to guard myself against them; and also to ask for a knowledge of the true life exemplified in the sovereign and true Commander, and the grace to imitate Him.

FIRST PART

THE STANDARD OF SATAN

140. FIRST POINT.   Imagine you see the chief of all the enemy in the vast plain about Babylon, seated on a great throne of fire and smoke, his appearance inspiring horror and terror.

141. SECOND POINT.   Consider how he summons innumerable demons, and scatters them, some to one city and some to another, throughout the whole world, so that no province, no place, no state of life, no individual is overlooked.

142. THIRD POINT.   Consider the address he makes to them, how he goads them on to lay snares for men and bind them with chains. First they are to tempt them to covet riches (as Satan himself is accustomed to do in most cases) that they may the more easily attain the empty honors of this world, and then come to overweening pride.

The first step, then, will be riches, the second honor, the third pride. From these three steps the evil one leads to all other vices.

SECOND PART

THE STANDARD OF CHRIST

143.   In a similar way, we are to picture to ourselves the sovereign and true Commander, Christ our Lord.

144. FIRST POINT.   Consider Christ our Lord, standing in a lowly place in a great plain about the region of Jerusalem, His appearance beautiful and attractive.

145. SECOND POINT.   Consider how the Lord of all the world chooses so many persons, apostles, disciples, etc., and sends them throughout the whole world to spread His sacred doctrine among all men, no matter what their state or condition.

146. THIRD POINT.   . . .

Guiding Light - Reflect on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Reflect on the Word - Cycle B —  The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts

Priestly Newsletter 2000 Issue 1
Audio CD - Read by Father Edward J. Carter
$ 10.00  plus postage

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ–." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
