Scripture selection is Day 8 Period I.

The Novena Rosary Mysteries
for March 31st are Luminous.

                R. Salvation History

                God is all good

                God created us to know,
                    love and serve Him

God created the seen and the
                    unseen —

                    God created a peaceful, loving,
                harmonious, orderly world
                without sin and violence or
                evil —

                    God made creatures in
His image and likeness to love —
love between them and God —

Love of brother for brother —
We see the story of Cain —
We see the story of Joseph and
                    his brothers —

Jesus: Now I tell you —
                    sin entered the world —
                    You are at battle —

You have a free choice to
                        love or to hate —

                    To love your brother —

                Your brother has been attacked
                    by the enemy
                    (a) will you help and love him by
                        praying for him
                    (b) will you go and cry outside of
                        his imprisoned walls and
tell him he never loved you —
                        hurt yourself and him —

The devil is a roaring lion looking
                    for someone to devour —
You need to love and pray for
                    your wounded brothers —
                    wrapped in sin —
                    bound up —

to pray that they will receive
                        the light and walk the
                        way of God —

Are you giving love to your
                    brother through prayer
                    and forgiveness —

Do you think your brother who
                    is wounded and suffering
                    can make you happy —

He needs your prayer for him —

Are you a giver as I gave
                    to you —
I suffered for your sins —
I died for your sins —
I rose on the 3rd day
to bring you new life —

So too you live My life, death
                    and resurrection in your
                    lives —

Loving and giving to your brother

Matthew 3: 16-17

And when Jesus had been baptised he at once came up from the water, and suddenly the heavens opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming down on him. And suddenly there was a voice from heaven, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; my favour rests on him.’

Matthew 17: 5

He was still speaking when suddenly a bright cloud covered them with shadow, and suddenly from the cloud there came a voice which said, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour. Listen to him.’

Jesus: You are to help each other —

                Work as a group —

The body has many parts —
if one thing goes wrong —
                    the whole body suffers —

You were created to love —

Matthew 11: 28-30

‘Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’

                R. God has given us a chance to pray
                    for the world —

He has given us this Movement —
                    Shepherds of Christ —

                R. Look at the world —
                Look at the division —
Look at the lack of love —
                Look at the hatred —

All over the earth - divided —
                    rebelling against the
                    commandments of God —

We are helping the souls Jesus
                    died for by
                    praying for the priests, the
                    Church and the world —

Words of Jesus to Members of
Shepherds of Christ Associates:

"My beloved priest-companion, I intend to use the priestly newsletter, Shepherds of Christ, and the movement, Shepherds of Christ Associates, in a powerful way for the renewal of My Church and the world.

"I will use the newsletter and the chapters of Shepherds of Christ Associates as a powerful instrument for spreading devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart.

"I am calling many to become members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. To all of them I will give great blessings. I will use them as instruments to help bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. I will give great graces to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. I will call them to be deeply united to My Heart and to Mary's Heart as I lead them ever closer to My Father in the Holy Spirit."

- Message from Jesus to Father Edward J. Carter, S.J., Founder, as given on July 31, 1994,
feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Founder of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits)

                R. This is love —
                    praying —
                    going to Mass —
                    saying the Morning Offering —

Morning Offering (for Shepherds of Christ Members)

My dear Father, I offer You this day all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings, my every breath, my every heartbeat, my every thought, all my actions, in union with Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in the Holy Spirit. I pray the Holy Spirit is with me every second today, enlightening me to do the will of the Father and filling me with the fire of God's love.

I ask Jesus and Mary to be one in me in all that I do and I unite with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory to pray continually to the Father for these intercessions, in this prayer, for this day.

For myself, I pray for grace-abundant grace, to know and love God more and more and to follow the will of the Father. I pray to the Holy Spirit to transform me in the heart of Mary to be more and more like Jesus. I pray that I can forever dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. I pray for conversion of all those I hold dear who need conversion. I pray for each member of my family that they will be filled with Your abundant grace to grow in their knowledge and love of God.

I pray for all my friends that they will receive abundant grace to carry out the great plan of the Father, that they will grow forever closer to Jesus' Heart through Mary's heart, that we will all be led by the Holy Spirit to do His work, that we will, together, carry out the plan of the Father as He intends us to, to spread the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary's heart to this world.

Jesus, I pray for myself so the Holy Spirit descends upon me and opens my heart to Your love so I will grow more and more deeply in union with You. I pray that I do not worry what other people think but try always to please the Father and do His will. I pray that I may help lead many to Your burning love.

I pray for the following people in particular that they will be filled with the Spirit and grow deeply in their union with You, that they will receive abundant graces to know, love and serve You more. (Include special friends by name...)

I pray for priests the world over, for the success of the Priestly Newsletter, the Chapters and for the finances needed for the Newsletter. I pray for the circulation of the Blue Book messages, rosary meditations and tapes. I pray for all those involved in the publication of these messages.

I pray that You will shower Your abundant graces onto the priests reading the Newsletter the people reading and hearing the Blue Book messages and Rosary Meditations and all of Fr. Carter's publications.

We pray for the intentions we hold deep within our hearts, for our families and friends, for those requesting our prayers. We pray for children the world over and for the souls in purgatory. We ask God to shower His abundant grace on us and the members of our Shepherds of Christ chapter so that we may grow more and more in our knowledge and love of God.

We consecrate ourselves to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. We pray for Father Carter, for Father Smith, for Rita Ring, and for John Weickert, for all leaders and helpers in the Shepherds of Christ Movement, for Shepherds of Christ Ministries, and Our Lady of Light Ministry. We pray for all those who are working in these ministries.

We bind ourselves and our children and our friends to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We place the precious blood of Jesus on ourselves, and all we touch, so that we will be protected from the evil one. We pray to St. Michael to cast the devil into hell.

We love You, God, we love You, we love You. We beg that we may receive the grace to love You more and more deeply. We adore You, we praise You, our beloved Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Morning Offering for Children

My dear Father, I offer you this day all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings in union with Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in the Holy Spirit.

I unite with our Mother Mary, all the angels and saints, and souls in purgatory, to pray to the Father for myself, for each member of my family, for my friends, for all people throughout the world, for all the souls in purgatory, and for all other intentions of the Sacred Heart.

I love You, Jesus, and I give You my heart. I love you, Mary, and I give you my heart.

                R. These prayer chapters since 1994
has provided a network of prayer
for the priests, the Church and the world.
After we are gone they can still
be praying if we work hard at
                keeping them connected and pray
for the prayers from Prayer Chapters
because Jesus told Fr. Carter to begin
                them 17 years ago —

                    In praying the prayers dedicated
to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart
one can grow in deeper oneness with God
and with all others. This unity can help us be
a stronger Church to help bring down
greater graces for the priests, the
                Church and the world —

We love our priests and the Church
so much — lets dedicate our
lives in praying for the souls
                Jesus died for —

                Hear Jesus say
I love you, I love you, I love you —
                    I died for you

                Song: A Song from Jesus

                R. The pope, the hierarchy, the priests
are a precious gift God has given to
this troubled world - The hierarchy
are the successors of the Apostles —
We must live to be more holy ourselves —
God has called us to this mission to
                be greater intercessors praying for
the priests, the Church and the world —
Fr. Carter, S.J. our founder wrote
18 books on the spiritual life —
What a gift God has entrusted to
                our hand —

God has given us the writings
of Fr. Carter, Fr. Pasquini, the homilies
of Fr. Joe based on the voice of the
Good Shepherd, the wisdom of the
                saints, the Word, prominent theologians
                and these 3 priests —

We have spent hours in front of
                the tabernacle and attending Mass
praying for the priests, the Church
                and the world —

John 3: 16

For this is how God loved the world:
he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
    may not perish
but may have eternal life.

                R. In this troubled world we bring a
warmth of God's love to the
hungry souls of the earth —

As we spread the consecration of
the Two Hearts — we see the poor
banished children of Adam and Eve
dwelling in the pure and Holy Hearts
of Jesus and Mary — the New Adam and
                the New Eve —

The children of this earth, then, can
live more deeply as God wanted from
the beginning doing the Father's will
and living in love as the Father's family —

Mary said in this Fatima message

Excerpt from The Spirituality of Fatima

...Tell everybody that God gives graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Tell them to ask grace from her, and that the Heart of Jesus wishes to be venerated together with the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Ask them to plead for peace from the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the Lord has confided the peace of the world to her. (19)

                R. We need to grow in the way
the Father intended us to grow —
Jesus gave Fr. Carter this mission —

It is a privilege to be called
to the Shepherds of Christ Movement

The Good Shepherd leads us to
                abundant life in Him

                Today's Readings

Deuteronomy 4: 1, 5-9

‘And now, Israel, listen to the laws and customs which I am teaching you today, so that, by observing them, you may survive to enter and take possession of the country which Yahweh, God of your ancestors, is giving you.

Look: as Yahweh my God commanded me, I have taught you laws and customs, for you to observe in the country of which you are going to take possession. Keep them, put them into practice, and other peoples will admire your wisdom and prudence. Once they know what all these laws are, they will exclaim, “No other people is as wise and prudent as this great nation!” And indeed, what great nation has its gods as near as Yahweh our God is to us whenever we call to him? And what great nation has laws and customs as upright as the entirety of this Law which I am laying down for you today? ‘But take care, as you value your lives! Do not forget the things which you yourselves have seen, or let them slip from your heart as long as you live; teach them, rather, to your children and to your children’s children.

 Psalm 147: 12-13, 15-16, 19-20

Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem,
Zion, praise your God.

For he gives strength to the bars of your gates,
he blesses your children within you,

He sends his word to the earth,
his command runs quickly,
he spreads the snow like flax,
strews hoarfrost like ashes,

He reveals his word to Jacob,
his statutes and judgements to Israel.
For no other nation has he done this,
no other has known his judgements.

Matthew 5: 17-19

‘Do not imagine that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have come not to abolish but to complete them. In truth I tell you, till heaven and earth disappear, not one dot, not one little stroke, is to disappear from the Law until all its purpose is achieved. Therefore, anyone who infringes even one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be considered the least in the kingdom of Heaven; but the person who keeps them and teaches them will be considered great in the kingdom of Heaven.

Psalm 110: 4

Yahweh has sworn an oath he will never retract,
you are a priest for ever of the order of Melchizedek.

                R. Trust in God —

We can see the trouble in the
                    world —

It comes closer and closer —
Are we not seeing the flood
                    waters raising on the
                    door outside our own
                    house as we say —

Oh the trouble is over there
                    far away

                R. Let's listen to these messages
and do what Jesus and Mary
                    are telling us —

                R. Dear God increase our faith —
                    help us to be faithful

Excerpt from The Spirituality of Fatima

by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

Before receiving the six apparitions of Our Lady, May through October of 1917, the three Fatima visionaries were visited by an angel on three different occasions during the preceding year. He appeared to them in the spring, summer, and fall. Lucia (now Sr. Lucia) describes the springtime apparition of the angel:

"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You."

Then, rising he said: "Pray thus. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive to the voice of your supplications."

His words engraved themselves so deeply on our minds that we could never forget them (3)

During the summer of 1916, the angel again appeared to the three visionaries. He said to them:

Pray! Pray a great deal. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary have merciful designs on you. Offer prayers and sacrifices continually to the Most High. Make everything you do a sacrifice, and offer it as an act of reparation for the sins by which God is offended, and as a petition for the conversion of sinners. Bring peace to our country in this way.... I am the Guardian Angel of Portugal Accept and bear with submission all the sufferings the Lord will send you. (4)

In the fall of the same year, the angel visited the visionaries a final time:

The angel came...bearing a golden chalice in one hand and a Host above it in the other. The amazed children noticed that drops of blood were falling from the Host into the chalice. Presently, the angel left both suspended in mid-air and prostrated himself on the ground, saying this beautiful prayer: "Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly. I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and [the intercession of] the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners." (5)

Sr. Lucia relates how the angel gave them Communion:

Then, rising, he took the chalice and the Host in his hand. He gave the Sacred Host to me and shared the Blood from the chalice between Jacinta and Francisco, saying as he did so:

"Take and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by ungrateful men! Make reparation for their crimes and console your God." (6)

Reflecting upon these messages of the angel, we see how much they contain for our spiritual instruction.

                R. Let's praise Jesus —

Thank God for all the gifts He has given
                    to us —

                Gratitude to God

Accountability for the times we wasted
                    time blocking God's will

                From the Prayer Manual

Holy Spirit Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit, almighty Sanctifier, God of love, who filled the Virgin Mary with grace, who wonderfully changed the hearts of the apostles, who endowed all Your martyrs with miraculous courage, come and sanctify us. Enlighten our minds, strengthen our wills, purify our consciences, rectify our judgment, set our hearts on fire, and preserve us from the misfortunes of resisting Your inspirations. Amen.

                R. We pray for healing so we will do the
                    work of God

So we will use the talents God gave us —

God is the Divine Healer —

                Prayer

Oh God, fill us with Your love!

You healed, Jesus, when You walked
                    the earth —

                Heal us physically, spiritually —

You healed the lepers, Jesus —
                You raised the dead —

                Come Holy Spirit Come —

We need God's healing power in our
                    hearts

We need God's healing power in our
                    bodies —

We need to look back and pray for
                    healing in our past relationships
                    that are wounded —
                    that needs healing —

                The emptiness we feel —

                The old sin —

The blaming of Adam and Eve —

That if we feel empty — lonely we
                    start looking for someone to
                    blame —

                Rather than obeying the greatest
                    commandment of God —

Matthew 22: 36-40

'Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?' Jesus said to him, 'You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too.'

                R. God commands us to love —

                The devil is hate —

We need to heal from wounds of
                    the heart —

We need to love and forgive those who
hurt us in the past —

We pray for those who hurt us —
we forgive those who hurt us —
we give them our love by our
                    prayers for them —

                We want peace

We want to obey the greatest
                    commandment of God —

Not blame others for our own
                    feelings of abandonment —

Not blame others for our own
                    putting a wall around
our heart because of wounds —

We were created in the image and
                    likeness of God —

                God is love —

To grow in that image and likeness
                    we must love —
                    God is love —

Father Carter says when we act
unloving to others we sin —

                Baptism takes away original sin,
but the effects are still there —

                Bondage —

Jesus gives us this sharing in His
                    life in baptism —

Jesus feeds this life with Himself
                    in the Eucharist —
Jesus shows us His Heart —

We see that God flooded the earth
at the time of Noah —
                    because of corruption —

  Exodus 34: 6-7

Then Yahweh passed before him and called out, ‘Yahweh, Yahweh, God of tenderness and compassion, slow to anger, rich in faithful love and constancy, maintaining his faithful love to thousands, forgiving fault, crime and sin, yet letting nothing go unchecked, and punishing the parent’s fault in the children and in the grandchildren to the third and fourth generation!’

                R. God is merciful —

                Holding onto hatred hurts our
                    health

                Holding onto hidden unforgiveness
                    hurts our relationship with
                    God and others —

Praying for light to fill us —
To be set free of sin —

Sin that those over us were guilty of
anger that was sprayed on us
like a spray can from generations
                    past —
                    Deception —

To get ahead we need to know the
                    truth about ourselves —

                We are blessed every day!!

Not blame others for our isolation —
                    lack of love —
loneliness because we isolated ourselves —

We were taught by others over us —

We must seek PURITY to be as God wants —
We are here to learn — to love —
Our ancestors may have been addicted to pride —
Our ancestors may have been addicted to perfection

Do we want the old trap they were caught
                    in?

                This is bondage —

We want to be pure to go to heaven —

                Heaven is for lovers —

Heart problems are past down —

                Diabetics can be hereditary —

                Anger, perfectionism, jealousy,
                    envy, prejudice,
                    pride —

                Cause - effect —

                A child is learning —
                The parents are imperfect —

We know what to do —
                We must love —
                We must forgive —
                We must be merciful

Not blame others for our roots of
                    isolation — blaming others
                    for our loneliness — when
                    we made the choices with
our free will to forgive or not —
to love or to not love —

                Dear God —
                    Forgive us —

Forgive us for not forgiving our
                        moms and dads, brothers
                        sisters, significant others in
                        relationships —

There must be a cleaning of defilement
                    to get into heaven —

                We must love and forgive

                What is Lent about —

To look at ourselves and to be more
                    holy —

To be accountable for our unloving,
                    blaming sins —

To let go of those who hurt us,
                    by really forgiving them —
not spending a life - time
                    acting out the unfinished business
                    on others —

Jesus went into the desert for 40 days —

We must not give into sin —
                    being unloving to those who
                    did nothing to us —

                    by our unloving, blaming
                        thoughts — we can project
                        hatred on others

If we are full of vices in our ways we must focus on heaven —

Lent is a time to be cleansed of
                    our sins —

                Jesus died for us

We are to die to our sins —

Come out of the bondage —
Come out of the tomb —

To come to new life in Him —

If you have fear of abandonment,
why do you sin more by
hating and hurting others? Jesus says —

Jesus: Why heap sin upon sin? —

I was whipped for your sins — your
                    hatred, your unloving ways —

I carried the cross for your sins —

To get to heaven you are to love —

                Anger against your brothers and
acted out by a bitter heart
in retaliation is a sin —

Jealousy shows the devil is working —
                A spirit of jealousy —
                Emotional jealousy —

Basing ones actions on their jealousy
not on doing God's will —

A person can act because of their
                    jealousy —

                Discernment of Spirits —

                R. Punishing someone because of
our own sins of jealousy is wrong —

                False domination —

                Controlling money —

Stopping the freedom God wants —

Controlling for the sake of using
                    that secretive ways for
                    their own power —

                Jesus: Bondage —

                Violence to others
Punishing others, for ones own sin
                    to block the freedom to
                    operate as God wills

                        23. FIRST PRINCIPLE AND FOUNDATION

Man is created to praise, reverence and serve God
our Lord, and by this means to save his soul.

                Song: Take Lord Receive

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

                R. Depression, anxiety can be caused by
                    sin —
                    jealousy — acting out of
                    jealousy is a bondage —

                Jealous eyes —

                Watching in jealousy —
Wanting to punish in unloving ways
                    for one's own wounds
                    and jealousies —

Genesis Chapter 3

Now, the snake was the most subtle of all the wild animals that Yahweh God had made. It asked the woman, ‘Did God really say you were not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?’ The woman answered the snake, ‘We may eat the fruit of the trees in the garden. But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden God said, "You must not eat it, nor touch it, under pain of death." ’ Then the snake said to the woman, ‘No! You will not die! God knows in fact that the day you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods, knowing good from evil.’ The woman saw that the tree was good to eat and pleasing to the eye, and that it was enticing for the wisdom that it could give. So she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they realised that they were naked. So they sewed fig–leaves together to make themselves loin–cloths.

The man and his wife heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from Yahweh God among the trees of the garden. But Yahweh God called to the man. ‘Where are you?’ he asked. ‘I heard the sound of you in the garden,’ he replied. ‘I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.’ ‘Who told you that you were naked?’ he asked. ‘Have you been eating from the tree I forbade you to eat?’ The man replied, ‘It was the woman you put with me; she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.’ Then Yahweh God said to the woman, ‘Why did you do that?’ The woman replied, ‘The snake tempted me and I ate.’

Then Yahweh God said to the snake, ‘Because you have done this,

    Accursed be you of
    all animals wild and tame!
On your belly you will go
and on dust you will feed
    as long as you live.
    I shall put enmity
    between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring and hers;
    it will bruise your head
and you will strike its heel.’

     To the woman he said:

I shall give you intense pain
        in childbearing,
you will give birth to your children
        in pain.
Your yearning will be for your husband,
      and he will dominate you.

To the man he said, ‘Because you listened to the voice of your wife and ate from the tree of which I had forbidden you to eat,

Accursed be the soil because of you!
Painfully will you get your food from it
     as long as you live.
It will yield you brambles and thistles,
as you eat the produce of the land.
By the sweat of your face
     will you earn your food,
until you return to the ground,
as you were taken from it.
     For dust you are
and to dust you shall return.’

The man named his wife ‘Eve’ because she was the mother of all those who live. Yahweh God made tunics of skins for the man and his wife and clothed them. Then Yahweh God said, ‘Now that the man has become like one of us in knowing good from evil, he must not be allowed to reach out his hand and pick from the tree of life too, and eat and live for ever!’ So Yahweh God expelled him from the garden of Eden, to till the soil from which he had been taken. He banished the man, and in front of the garden of Eden he posted the great winged creatures and the fiery flashing sword, to guard the way to the tree of life.

Cling to Me

May 13, 1993

Jesus: My dear child, if you stay close to Me, then I live in you and you live in Me. I am He Who created you and I love you with such an intensity that you will never know. My words are your truth. You must abide in My heart in all things. There is no room for doubt. My ways are steadfast, direct, and without error.

You must stay rooted in Me to ward off the power of the evil one. His grip is paralyzing and crippling. His power is stronger every day.

When you live in Me, I am in your heart and he has no power over Me. I am your God. I am your true lover. I want to protect you. I want to guard you from this force. Stay rooted firmly in Me and he will have no power.

I am He Who comforts you. My hand is upon you. Hold tight to Me, My child. My eyes are fixed right on you. You are My most precious child. I love you as no other can. My arms are about you. My tenderness surrounds you. My love is in your heart. You go not alone. I walk with you.

I share every aspect of your life with you. Cling to Me, feel My presence. It is warm and secure within your chest. There is no room for fear, for I cast out fear and bring you comfort and joy.

                R. Jesus is the Divine Healer —

We need to be healed —
Not act out bad habits —

Wanting to be set free of
                    sins of jealousy, anger —
                    by filling our lives with
                    giving love —

                Giving —

                Not selfishly focusing on others
                    giving to us

May the Blood of Jesus be poured
on all of us in the Shepherds of Christ,
all we touch and our families —

All our donors, all that touch
                    them — all their families

All the Priests, the Church and
                    the World —

We unite our prayers to the
Holy Sacrifice of the Mass —

God hears the prayer of those
                    who do God's will —

We must want to let go of sin and
                Then quit sinning —

Then ask God for healing —

We have to quit sinning —

                We are responsible for our
                    actions —

                We are accountable

                Jesus is the Savior —

But we must have a contrite
                    heart —

                Quit sinning —

                Pray for reconciliation —

                Restoring relationships with
                    God and others —

We don't expect God to take
the sin away without changing ourselves.
We must choose to not sin —

We have to be sorry, quit
                    sinning

                Be in right relationship
                    with God —

 Exodus 34: 6-7

Then Yahweh passed before him and called out, ‘Yahweh, Yahweh, God of tenderness and compassion, slow to anger, rich in faithful love and constancy, maintaining his faithful love to thousands, forgiving fault, crime and sin, yet letting nothing go unchecked, and punishing the parent’s fault in the children and in the grandchildren to the third and fourth generation!’

                Perfect love

Excerpt from Response to God's Love by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

... In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us briefly look at this inner life of God.

The Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent expression of God's fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise, from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in a perfect act of loving.

At the destined moment in human history, God's self-expression, the Word, immersed himself into man's world. God's inner self-expression now had also become God's outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself, about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through Christ.

                R. God made us to know, love and serve Him —

                Praise God
                He deserves it —

                Don't listen to satan

                Seek healing —

                Quit sinning in jealousy, anger,
                    control, pride, unloving
                    hateful ways —

The examine Fr. Carter did 10 minutes
                    twice a day
                    KNOW YOURSELF

                Pray for grace

Pray to do God's will — obedience
The fall of the angels — they said
                    "We won't serve God"

Pray for grace to be obedient to God's will

When we sin — we have consequences —
                    darkness —

                Sin is ingratitude to God
                Sin hurts our loving relationship
                    with God —

                Hell: the ultimate consequence of
                    sin

Matthew 25: 26-31

But his master answered him, "You wicked and lazy servant! So you knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered? Well then, you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have got my money back with interest. So now, take the talent from him and give it to the man who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has will be given more, and he will have more than enough; but anyone who has not, will be deprived even of what he has. As for this good–for–nothing servant, throw him into the darkness outside, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth."

‘When the Son of man comes in his glory, escorted by all the angels, then he will take his seat on his throne of glory.

                R. We must forgive our enemies —
                Pray and love them

                God made us to love
God made us to praise Him
God made us to help build His Kingdom

We want to be intimate with God —
                    deeply one in Him —
                    saturated with His grace

                Sin hurts our relationship with
                    God

                God is love

Deuteronomy 30: 19

I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live,

Sin is a choice that hurts our
                    relationship with God

Sin is saying "no" to serving
                    God who is love,
God who is all good —

136. THE FOURTH DAY

        A MEDITATION ON TWO STANDARDS

The one of Christ, our supreme leader and lord,
the other of Lucifer, the deadly enemy of our
human nature

PRAYER.   The usual preparatory prayer.

window at a former Jesuit Seminary

137. FIRST PRELUDE.   This is the history. Here it will be that Christ calls and wants all beneath His standard, and Lucifer, on the other hand, wants all under his.

138. SECOND PRELUDE.   This is a mental representation of the place. It will be here to see a great plain, comprising the whole region about Jerusalem, where the sovereign Commander-in-Chief of all the good is Christ our Lord; and another plain about the region of Babylon, where the chief of the enemy is Lucifer.

139. THIRD PRELUDE.   This is to ask for what I desire. Here it will be to ask for a knowledge of the deceits of the rebel chief and help to guard myself against them; and also to ask for a knowledge of the true life exemplified in the sovereign and true Commander, and the grace to imitate Him.

FIRST PART

THE STANDARD OF SATAN

140. FIRST POINT.   Imagine you see the chief of all the enemy in the vast plain about Babylon, seated on a great throne of fire and smoke, his appearance inspiring horror and terror.

141. SECOND POINT.   Consider how he summons innumerable demons, and scatters them, some to one city and some to another, throughout the whole world, so that no province, no place, no state of life, no individual is overlooked.

142. THIRD POINT.   Consider the address he makes to them, how he goads them on to lay snares for men and bind them with chains. First they are to tempt them to covet riches (as Satan himself is accustomed to do in most cases) that they may the more easily attain the empty honors of this world, and then come to overweening pride.

The first step, then, will be riches, the second honor, the third pride. From these three steps the evil one leads to all other vices.

SECOND PART

THE STANDARD OF CHRIST

143.   In a similar way, we are to picture to ourselves the sovereign and true Commander, Christ our Lord.

144. FIRST POINT.   Consider Christ our Lord, standing in a lowly place in a great plain about the region of Jerusalem, His appearance beautiful and attractive.

145. SECOND POINT.   Consider how the Lord of all the world chooses so many persons, apostles, disciples, etc., and sends them throughout the whole world to spread His sacred doctrine among all men, no matter what their state or condition.

146. THIRD POINT.   . . .

Jesus calls us to be humble

March 13, 1997

Junior Shepherds of Christ

Glorious Mysteries

The Resurrection

1. R. This is a great gift to be able to pray the rosary together, let us join in one mind and one heart and sing the Holy Spirit Song.

Song: Come Holy Spirit

2. R. The devil is working very hard in the world today, in order to influence the youth, to lead them astray. For he wants the souls of all the young people if he can.

3. R. Many times, in our life, we go through so much suffering. Throughout the day it is hard many times at school, it is hard when we relate with other people. We must know that in growing, we go through this process of relating to one another, and it is difficult when we relate to each other.

4. R. There is much suffering in our life, but there is also great joy and there is the resurrection. For Christ came to show us that our life is a combination of death and resurrection.

5. R. As we grow more and more to be like Jesus, many times we must go through hard lessons, and it is very difficult.

6. R. As difficult as it is, we must pray to God, to ask God to help us change those ways in which we act that are not like Him.

7. R. Satan presses down, and tries to get us focused on our self. Jesus looks at us, and Jesus tells us how much He loves us and how much He wants to give us His life.

8. R. Jesus came to this Earth, Jesus died so that we would share in His life.

9. R. The world tells us that we should have constant pleasure and joy in our life. But if we follow the path of Jesus, we follow the path as He carried the cross, as He was crucified. And we see that on the third day He rose from the dead. Jesus lived and died and rose from the dead. We live the pascal mystery of death/resurrection in our lives.

10. Song: A Song from Jesus

R.  Left us focus on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, our risen Savior. And let us realize that He came to give us a sharing in His Divine life through baptism.

The Ascension into Heaven

1. R. The Almighty God came to this Earth, Jesus showed us His way of love. Jesus ascended into Heaven and Jesus left behind the Apostles to carry out His work.

2. R. We are the Junior Apostles that will go into the world, that will spread His love to the young people of the world.

3. R. Jesus no longer walks this Earth, He lives in us. As we interact, people see the Christ that lives within us. They love Him as we love Him. We love one another, and as we love one another we are loving Jesus.

4. R. The Father created us that we would live in harmony and in love, as one happy family, as brothers and as sisters.

5. R. God gave us the commandment, we must love God and must love one another.

6. R. This is what is most important to the Father, that we live loving one another and that we do His Holy will.

7. R. And so we carry out His life, death, and resurrection, in our lives. Loving one another.

8. R. The devil wants to make confusion and division in our hearts, he tries to divide our hearts. God wants us to be united.

9. R. Many times people do not act loving, many times they are angry and they want division. Jesus tells us that we must be soldiers that spread His love. It is so difficult to love when others are cruel to us.

10. R. Jesus is not telling us to run after them and to tell them that we love them. Jesus is telling us that in our own hearts we must not have thoughts of hatred and division. In our own heart, we are loving even when they are cruel to us. We are the apostles, we must go into the world. We must carry His love.

The Descent of the Holy Spirit

1. R. The apostles were gathered in the upper room with the Virgin Mary, and there was a gigantic-like wind and there appeared over their heads parted tongues of fire. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in foreign tongues.

2. R. We need to ask the Holy Spirit at this time to fill our hearts with the fire of God's love. To come upon us that we may know love in our hearts. For within our hearts, sometimes, there are thoughts of division toward our brothers, and it is hard to let go of those thoughts. Let us ask the Holy Spirit to fill our heart with love, at this moment. And to help us to let go of any bitterness or anger toward any person. So that we may be as God wants us to be, loving one another.

3. R. But I do not want to, Jesus, I do not want to. For this person has made me angry, and I do not think that they treated me right.

4. R. This takes God's grace, to let go. We must beg Him, beg the Holy Spirit to fill our heart. Go to the heart of Mary and ask the Holy Spirit to help us to have hearts of love. Even if others are divided from us, in our heart we want peace and love.

5. R. If we must talk to our brother about a problem that we have with them, we must talk to them in love. If they want to fight with us and continue to argue and to treat us mean, then we can walk away. But within our hearts we must remain with hearts of peace and love.

6. R. The apostles were not always so courageous as they were after the Holy Spirit descended upon them. They were afraid, they were thinking about themselves. They wanted to be first. After the Holy Spirit descended upon them, they were fearless apostles. They went out into the world, they preached the word of God. They were not afraid.

7. R. If we stand up for God today, many times we are mocked and persecuted.

8. R. We must stand up for what is right. We must pray to Jesus and to ask Him how He wants us to act. For our main purpose is to have peace and love in our hearts for God and for others. We may not have to go and confront another person, but within our own hearts we must try to remain loving.

9. R.  Come Holy Spirit, fill our hearts with the fire of Your love. We ask you, with the greatest fervor in our hearts, to help us to be like the Heart of Jesus.

10. R. So what do we get if we have hearts of peace and love? We are being as God intends us to be, loving God and loving one another.

The Assumption of Mary

1. R. Mary was taken, body and soul, into Heaven.

2. R. Mary is the only human creature who's heart is sinless. God gave us Mary, that we would go to her and that we would be able to unite more deeply to the pure and loving Heart of Christ.

3. R. The last words of Christ, on the cross, are very important. In those words He gave to us His holy Mother. His Mother, to be our mother, to lead us on our journey to Him.

4. R. Mary loves us with the most perfect love, for she has a pure and sinless heart.

5. R. Mary was chosen, by the Father, to be the mother of the Almighty God. And Mary is our mother, always with us and by our side, loving us, with the greatest motherly love.

6. R. Mary loves us far more than any earthly mother could love us.

7. R. Mary is the gateway to the Heart of Christ. Mary will lead us to the most intimate love, with the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

8. R. When we feel afraid, when we feel trouble in our life, Mary wants us to run to her. And Mary will put us in her loving protection. Mary will guard us and help us as our Holy Mother.

9. R. We must get the message out to the youth, how much Mary loves them and how important Mary is for them to become close to God.

10. We must pray through Mary's powerful intercession.

The Coronation

1. R. The Father gave Mary such an important role. Mary is the Mother of Jesus.

2. R. God came into this world in the womb of the Virgin Mary. If we want to unite to God we must go to Mary, and Mary will lead us to God.

3. R. Jesus came as a baby, He was carried in the arms of the Virgin Mary.

4. R. Mary stood beneath the cross of her Son, and Mary watched Him. Mary watched Him suffer and die, and then Mary held His lifeless body under the cross.

5. R. Mary truly is our Mother. Mary is Queen of Heaven and Earth. We cannot leave Mary out of the picture, the gateway to the Heart of Christ is through Mary's Heart.

6. R. Mary appeared at Fatima to three children. The last apparition, the sun looked as if it would crash to the Earth. What a sign that was! When Mary appeared she told them they must pray the rosary and they must give their heart to her and to the Heart of Jesus.

7. R. Mary is the Queen of Peace. It is in giving our hearts to Jesus and to Mary, that we will have peace and love in our hearts.

8. R. This is what we call consecration, where we renew the consecration that we were given at baptism. Mary wants us, all through the day, to tell her that we love her. Jesus wants us, all through the day, to tell Jesus that we love Him.

9. R. Mary, as the Junior Shepherds of Christ Movement, as the core group for all of these Shepherds of Christ Movements, in this world, we give you our heart and we love you. Jesus, we give You our heart and we love You.

10. R. We want the Heart of Jesus to be King and center of our hearts, of our lives, of our families.

This book Light, Happiness and Peace is a journey into the spiritual life — an awakening of deeper life IN HIM. Here are some of the comments we received from bishops and cardinals about the book. Cardinal – Pontifical Council for Culture – Vatican City “I am sure that this book, Light, Happiness and Peace through a discussion on traditional Catholic Spirituality will contribute in bringing back prayer into the mainstream of life.” $10

In Imitation of Two Hearts - Prayers for Consolation, Renewal and Peace in Times of Suffering Fr. John J. Pasquini leads a suffering soul to the gentle Hearts of Jesus and Mary. In these most loving Hearts - the prayers by Fr. John Pasquini - help the person suffering to know more deeply the pascal mystery of death/resurrection. President of the Pontifical Council for Health $10

The book of prayers Authenticity by Fr. John J. Pasquini is to help one grow ever deeper in the Unitive life. “In Medicine of Immortality, Father John Pasquini offers his readers the richness of Catholic devotional prayer, the wisdom of the Fathers and, most of all, the fruits of his own prayer and meditation before the Blessed Sacrament. I recommend this book to all who wish to grow in their love for the Lord, who sustains the life of His Church through the precious gift of His Body and Blood.” Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago $10

Ecce Fides is a work dedicated to defending Catholic beliefs through reason, Scripture, and the life of the Holy Spirit. "It is important that we (as people of God) return to the source of life, our faith, which is usefully exposed in this volume, and take it out to our contemporaries, evangelizing them and their cultures and inculturating the Gospel." Cardinal – Pontifical Council for Culture – Vatican City $10

Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15
Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15
Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts. - Cycle A (partial) Homilies by the Reverend Joe Robinson given at St. Boniface Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a tremendous honor Fr. Joe has allowed us to share these great gifts with you – for greater holiness and knowing more and more about God. $10

Shepherds of Christ Prayer Manual. The Shepherds of Christ has prayer chapters all over the world praying for the priests, the Church and the world. These prayers that Father Carter compiled in the summer of 1994 began this worldwide network of prayer. Currently the prayers are in eight languages with the Church’s Imprimatur. We have prayed daily for the priests, the Church, and the world since 1994. Associates are called to join prayer Chapters and help us circulate the newsletter centered on spreading devotion to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and helping to renew the Church through greater holiness. Please form a Prayer Chapter & order a Prayer Manual.

Holy Spirit Novena Booklet. In four languages with the Imprimatur with 18 scripture readings for two complete novenas – this very powerful Holy Spirit Novena has prayers for prayers for Protection by the Blood of Jesus, Healing, Strength and Light, To Be One with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, One with Jesus, To Dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Prayer for the Holy Spirit and His Gifts, and the Word Alive in Our Hearts. All these prayers take about 10 minutes daily recited out loud. $1

Spirituality Handbook. Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. did 3 synopsis of the spiritual life. The Spirituality Handbook, the Priestly Newsletter 2000 Issue 3 and the Tell My People book. The way of spiritual life proposed to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates is centered in consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. All aspects of the spiritual life discussed below should be viewed as means to help members develop their lives in consecration to Christ, the Sacred Heart, and to Mary, the Immaculate Heart. $3
Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ..." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
