                1st & 2nd Readings

Acts 9: 26-31

When he got to Jerusalem he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him: they could not believe he was really a disciple. Barnabas, however, took charge of him, introduced him to the apostles, and explained how the Lord had appeared to him and spoken to him on his journey, and how he had preached fearlessly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. Saul now started to go round with them in Jerusalem, preaching fearlessly in the name of the Lord. But after he had spoken to the Hellenists and argued with them, they became determined to kill him. When the brothers got to know of this, they took him to Caesarea and sent him off from there to Tarsus.

The churches throughout Judaea, Galilee and Samaria were now left in peace, building themselves up and living in the fear of the Lord; encouraged by the Holy Spirit, they continued to grow.

1 John 3: 18-24

Children,
our love must be not just words
    or mere talk,
but something active and genuine.
This will be the proof
that we belong to the truth,
and it will convince us in his presence,
even if our own feelings condemn us,
that God is greater than our feelings
    and knows all things.
My dear friends,
if our own feelings do not condemn us,
we can be fearless before God,

and whatever we ask
we shall receive from him,
because we keep his commandments
and do what is acceptable to him.
His commandment is this,
that we should believe
in the name of his Son Jesus Christ
and that we should love one another
as he commanded us.
Whoever keeps his commandments
remains in God, and God in him.
And this is the proof
    that he remains in us:
the Spirit that he has given us.

Why worry about your image before
                    men?

Think of what God wants you to be and
                    do God's will —
Think of how God sees you —
                    Are you His instrument in
the world as He intends —

Are you being formed more and more
in the image of God —

                God is your Father —
                    Are you His little docile
                    child — always being formed
more and more in the image
                    of God —

Be a child — living obedient to the
                    heavenly Father —

God loves all of His children and He
                    wants them to be obedient
                    to Him

God has a Plan for us

In this lies our happiness —

We live to please Our Father
                    and do His will

People who are married can grow
in love and holiness as they work
                    together to be more perfected
                    as God intends

People who are religious — priests
are married in a special way
                    to God —

They are not to be unfaithful to
their vocation — they are married to God —
It is God who has picked them —
Look how it is in marriage between
a man and a woman, when
one is unfaithful to their spouse —

Think of how it is to be married to
God and be unfaithful to one's call

                God says

Matthew 19: 5

This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and the two become one flesh?

A religious, too, are to recognize the
calling of God — to be the spouse of God and
not be unfaithful to God —

A religious should not see themselves
as free, but as the special spouse
of God and not be unfaithful to his
                    calling —

Some see themselves as free and doing
what they want — married to the things
                    they want —

A person married to God has many children —
the children of the Church —
think of how it is when one married
                    abandons his children —

What about a religious who neglects
the calling to be a light to the
people of the world — the Church —
Wear a habit, a ring, a crucifix and a veil,
                    a collar and then
act as if they are free —
when in fact God has called them and the
children of the Church are dependent upon
their holy lives in prayer and service —

Pope John Paul II said — if God wants something
                    give it to Him —

Give God what He wants — you are here to love
Him and serve Him with your whole heart,
your whole being and to love your neighbors
                    as yourselves

John 15: 1-8

I am the true vine,
and my Father is the vinedresser.
Every branch in me that bears no fruit
he cuts away,
and every branch that does bear fruit
     he prunes
to make it bear even more.
You are clean already,
by means of the word
that I have spoken to you.
Remain in me, as I in you.
As a branch cannot bear fruit all by itself,
unless it remains part of the vine,
neither can you unless you remain in me.
I am the vine,
you are the branches.
Whoever remains in me, with me in him,
bears fruit in plenty;
for cut off from me you can do nothing.
Anyone who does not remain in me
is thrown away like a branch
—and withers;
these branches are collected
     and thrown on the fire
and are burnt.
If you remain in me
and my words remain in you,
you may ask for whatever you please
and you will get it.
It is to the glory of my Father
that you should bear much fruit
and be my disciples.

Without God we can do nothing —
We need Jesus all the time
We need Him when we are 60 and 70 as
we are when we are little —

                God cares for His people
God wants obedience to His commandments
                We are God's people

From Fr. Joe May 10, 2009

Fr. Joe says — "Jesus says of Himself in the Gospels"

                    "I am the Good Shepherd"
"I am the Light of the World"
"I am the Bread of Life"
"I am the Vine you are the branches"

Jesus says He is the vine —
He draws His life from the Father —

There is a mysterious connection between us
as members of the mystical body of
                    Christ —
                    Christ is the head —

Pope Pius XII wrote an encyclical on the
                    mystical body of Christ —

"By your fruits you will know them"

Our lives will tell us how we lived
                    in Christ or did not

                end of Fr. Joe

Whether we are called as religious, married or single —
What we do in our lives affects every one else —
There is a mysterious connection in us as baptized
Catholics — like a body — we are to
live in our vocation in Him

"I am the vine you are the branches"

                Communion —

Living, dwelling in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic —

                Sing: Holy, Holy

In baptism we receive a sharing in His Divine life —
He feeds us — He feeds this life with Himself —
He gives us Himself — Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist

We are to be children of the light —

                We are one in Him

We have a calling as members of the mystical body of Christ —

"All who live in Me will bear great fruit"

Our Father

Our Father, Who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. * Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.

"For the Kingdom, the Power and the Glory
are yours - now and forever. Amen."

                Dear Jesus:

I was overwhelmed by Your presence —
                        Your love for me
How real this all is —
                        The Church

Jesus truly coming to me —

Jesus truly gives Himself to us —
                How AWESOME is this

We walk the isle and the Divine Almighty
God comes to me, but it is in
                    knowing His presence —
In knowing God in me in the Eucharist

                Song: I Love You Jesus

Song: Your Presence Pervades My Soul

"I am the vine, you are the branches and all who
dwell in me will bear great fruit"

God gives us this sharing in His life in baptism —

The Father, Son and Holy Spirit live in our graced,
                    baptized soul —

Oh God on this Mother's Day — help us to realize
how we are to spread the Good News —
tell all about Mary and her Immaculate Heart —
                    Mary — our Spiritual Mother
Mary is the spouse of the Holy Spirit

John 19: 25-27

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. Seeing his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing near her, Jesus said to his mother, ‘Woman, this is your son.’ Then to the disciple he said, ‘This is your mother.’ And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

                This IS REAL

                SHOUT IT FROM THE HOUSETOPS

I receive Jesus in the EUCHARIST —

                    BODY, BLOOD, SOUL and

                        DIVINITY

Pray for grace for the world —

Live deeply as members of His mystical body —

                Sing: "We Have Been Told"

             JESUS COMES TO ME

             THE MASS IS THE SACRIFICE
                  OF CALVARY SACRAMENTALLY
                  MADE PRESENT

Jesus says: I love you, I love you, I love you —

Excerpts from the Rosary of February 3, 2009

The Annunciation

                2. R. What a gift God has given us in the Church.
                What a gift,
                A gift —
                A gift beyond price —
                A gift beyond measure —
                A gift beyond words —
A gift that God gives to us in giving
us Himself in the Eucharist —
                    Jesus is truly present —

Oh God how can I tell You how much the Eucharist means to me? How much it means to have Your grace in me, to know the presence of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit dwelling within me, to know the gift of baptism, and to be so ever grateful, to love the Word as I do, more and more the gift of the Word. The Word feeds my hungry soul. Oh God, the treasure is beyond price or words and we thank Thee.

7. Jesus: And you feel like you are tried in doing My will, and yet you look at Me on the cross, you see My body covered with wounds, My hands with nails and the nail in My feet. You see My head crowned with thorns, and you know that they nailed Me to the cross.

8. Jesus: And I did it for you, and I did it for the love of My precious souls. And I call to you today from this building to spread this love to the whole world, that you pray your prayers to help make reparation for the sins of the people of this earth, and that you never lose hope, but you feel that deep connection with Me and with My Mother, and that you know that we are giving you this commission to spread the love of Our Two Hearts to the world, to never falter or to become weak.

But to become empowered, because this is the place given to you from God the Father, and to those that I have called to help you, to help you in the payment. Continue to pray. Pray ardently. Pray for your donors. Pray that you will be able to keep this place, a place in which great grace and healing will be granted to those who come and pray fervently, and pray with you in these retreats. I will outpour My richest graces. Do you hear Me, My child? I am speaking to you in clear tones. You must listen and take My message to heart.

The Visitation

3. Jesus: Pray to the Holy Spirit, that you will answer with a willing spirit, that you will see always, with the right reasoning, of looking through the Father's eyes at the world below, rather than looking through the tainted vision and tainted habits, that you have allowed yourself to acquire. Pray to the Holy Spirit to rid you of vices, that have stopped you and slowed the process, for souls are at stake. And I, Jesus Christ, who died for these souls, call out to you this day. You are here and they are here struggling. Do not focus on yourselves and be selfish. Focus on the souls that you will be able to reach, if you pray hard to the Holy Spirit and give with a willing spirit of love.

First Rosary Meditations

The Sorrowful Mysteries

May 10, 1994

Note: These letters were received on April 25, 1994, at Medjugorje, from Our Lady.

1. The Agony in the Garden.

Jesus: I knew full well every blow, every wound, the crowning, the crucifixion. I saw My mother's suffering. I knew all that would happen. I sweat blood. I suffered so much mental anguish for you, beloved one, for you. I said yes to all I knew would follow, yes to you, knowing how you one day would love Me, too. Oh, how I love you. Will you say yes to the suffering I send to you? Will you say yes to loving My beloved ones? Say yes to Me today. I loved you so.

2. The Scourging at the Pillar.

Mary: I am the Immaculate Heart. I love you with my tender Heart. I heard the blows they gave my Son. I could scarcely look up. I heard the blows, the awful blows. My Son stood in silence while they beat Him.

Jesus: All the whipping, all the brutality! The blows covered My entire body. I bled profusely. I stood in My own blood. These were My beloved ones who beat Me. They tore My flesh until it hung from My body and they laughed at their handiwork.

Do your brothers persecute you and say mean things to you? Do as I did. Respond with love. Anyone who is hating you is suffering from connectedness to Me. Pray for their conversion. Live to help them get to heaven.

3. Crowning with Thorns

Jesus: Think of someone you love very deeply yelling awful accusations at you. How it wounds your heart, My child. I sat there while they crowned Me with thorns and they hollered awful accusations at Me. They were My beloved ones, yet they stood there spitting at Me and hollering awful things at Me. Those whom I dearly loved, and they mocked Me and insulted Me and hurled their ugly hatred and lies at Me. I accepted all they did with a bleeding Heart and forgave them and loved them still.

Oh, you do not know suffering. Suffer for Me and lessen My load. This world is wounding My aching Heart. People are indifferent and hateful. They mistreat one another and are proud of their actions. Pray for your beloved persecutors. Don't hate them. It is as with those who tore My flesh and mocked Me. They were so engulfed in darkness! They did not know what they were doing.

All that matters is how you love Me and one another. Love those who hate you. My way is a hard way. When they hurt you and holler every ill thing at you, look to heaven and praise the Lord for the trial. It is in suffering that you are drawn closer to My precious Heart. I shed My blood for you. I suffered for you. Will you not suffer when I ask you to?

4. Carrying of the Cross

Mary: I could scarcely stand to walk the way with Him. I was so sick at what they had done but I wanted to be with my Son. I walked by the grace of God.

Jesus: My suffering was intensified by the sorrow and suffering of My mother. My eyes met hers and I saw her red, teary face. All they did to Me, but to watch My beloved mother suffer! She heard the cross as it thumped up the hill. The sounds were so loud and, at the sight, she had to look away.

Stand by Me and walk this road to Calvary. Listen and see My beaten body. Hear the jeers of the crowd. Hear the thumping of the cross. Listen when it falls hard on Me and I can scarcely go any more. Walk with Me and be there, then think of the little crosses I ask you to carry. Do not put them down. Accept them for Me. It is in your crosses that you are drawn closer to Me. I endured all this suffering for deep and ardent love of you and I would do it today for you alone.

5. The Crucifixion

Mary: They hung Him on the cross. I was so weak I could barely stand. I was held up by John. I watched my Son in such agony. Oh, my beloved Son! What had He done to deserve such suffering? He loved you to His death. He was crucified for love.

Jesus: How do I tell you that I died for you? Do you even know I would do it today, just for you? They nailed My beautiful hands and feet to the cross. Big, gigantic nails they pounded into My precious hands. Such hard hearts! They pounded the nails through My feet. Blood spurted out and they continued. Such hardness of hearts. Look at your hands, My child. Would you allow someone to nail them to a cross? Would you withstand this torture for love? This is My love for you. It is not a little lip service love. It is the love that made Me lay down My life for you.

Surrender. I call you to surrender. Open your arms as I did when I died on the cross. Let all your worldly possessions drop around you and you will experience the joy of being free, united only to Me, of letting go and knowing that I, God, tend to your every need. To My death on the cross I loved you and I love you this way this very day. Let go and give it all to Me. I will care for you far better than you could for yourself. I am God and I love you more than you can love yourself.

R. Jesus is dead, hanging on the cross, arms outstretched. His feet are not even on the ground. He is hanging by nails on a piece of wood. What do we hold on to? He wants us in midair in total surrender.

Jesus: Oh, little ones, how you squander your possessions. How you hold on to people, how you won't let go! See Me in total surrender. I gave My very life for you. What do you hold on to, My little ones? Little bits and pieces you give to Me and you hold tightly to your lives. All will go up in smoke and only the things of God will remain. Not one pair of shoes do you take with you, only your love given to God and to others.

The bond of marriage is a holy mystery —

God calls religious to be married in a
                    special way to Him —

                Christ loves His Church —

Religious are to take care of children
                    of the Church —

Their children are the children of
                        the Church

A man and woman has a responsibility to be faithful
to their bonds in marriage —

A religious, priest has a responsibility to
                        be faithful to God —
Not think of himself as single —

                    Pray for their children —

                    The children of the Church

Religious pledge their love to God —

Married couples pledge their love to
                        each other in God —

May the lives of those married, religious,
priests, singles — always bear witness
to the reality of their love for God and
                    each other —

May they be faithful to their vocation —

Proverbs 31 10-13, 18-20, 30-31

Aleph   The truly capable woman—who can find her?
She is far beyond the price of pearls.

Bet       Her husband’s heart has confidence in her,
from her he will derive no little profit.

Gimel   Advantage and not hurt she brings him
all the days of her life.

Dalet    She selects wool and flax,
she does her work with eager hands.

Tet      She knows that her affairs are gong well;
her lamp does not go out at night.

Yod       She sets her hands to the distaff,
                her fingers grasp the spindle.

Kaph    She holds out her hands to the poor,
she opens her arms to the needy.

Shin      Charm is deceitful, and beauty empty;
the woman who fears Yahweh is the one to praise.

Taw       Give her a share in what her hands have worked for,
and let her works tell her praises at the city gates.

Psalm 33

Shout for joy, you upright;
praise comes well from the honest.
Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre,
play for him on the ten–stringed lyre.
Sing to him a new song,
make sweet music for your cry of victory.

The word of Yahweh is straightforward,
all he does springs from his constancy.
He loves uprightness and justice;
the faithful love of Yahweh fills the earth.

By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made,
by the breath of his mouth all their array.
He collects the waters of the sea like a dam,
he stores away the abyss in his treasure–house.

Let the whole earth fear Yahweh,
let all who dwell in the world revere him;
for, the moment he spoke, it was so,
no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!

Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations,
frustrates the counsels of peoples;
but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever,
his heart's counsel from age to age.

How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh,
the people he has chosen as his heritage.

From heaven Yahweh looks down,
he sees all the children of Adam,

from the place where he sits he watches
all who dwell on the earth;
he alone moulds their hearts,
he understands all they do.

A large army will not keep a king safe,
nor his strength save a warrior's life;
it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety,
for all its power it cannot save.

But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him,
those who rely on his faithful love,

to rescue them from death
and keep them alive in famine.

We are waiting for Yahweh;
he is our help and our shield,
for in him our heart rejoices,
in his holy name we trust.
Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us,
as our hope has rested in you.

Philippians 4: 4-9

Always be joyful, then, in the Lord; I repeat, be joyful. Let your good sense be obvious to everybody. The Lord is near. Never worry about anything; but tell God all your desires of every kind in prayer and petition shot through with gratitude, and the peace of God which is beyond our understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, let your minds be filled with everything that is true, everything that is honourable, everything that is upright and pure, everything that we love and admire—with whatever is good and praiseworthy. Keep doing everything you learnt from me and were told by me and have heard or seen me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Matthew 19: 3-6

Some Pharisees approached him, and to put him to the test they said, 'Is it against the Law for a man to divorce his wife on any pretext whatever?' He answered, 'Have you not read that the Creator from the beginning made them male and female and that he said: This is why a man leaves his father and mother and becomes attached to his wife, and the two become one flesh? They are no longer two, therefore, but one flesh. So then, what God has united, human beings must not divide.'

1 John 4: 16

...God is love,
and whoever remains in love
    remains in God
and God in him.

1 John 1: 5

...God is light,
and there is no darkness in him at all.

God accept our love for You and give us
the grace to live our vocation as
You have called us — in love

                Let us love one another

Isaiah 25: 6-9

On this mountain, for all peoples,
Yahweh Sabaoth is preparing
a banquet of rich food,
    a banquet of fine wines,
of succulent food, of well–strained wines.
On this mountain, he has destroyed
the veil which used to veil all peoples,
the pall enveloping all nations;
he has destroyed death for ever.
Lord Yahweh has wiped away the tears
    from every cheek;
he has taken his people’s shame away
    everywhere on earth,
for Yahweh has spoken.

And on that day, it will be said,
‘Look, this is our God,
in him we put our hope
    that he should save us,
this is Yahweh, we put our hope in him.
Let us exult and rejoice
    since he has saved us.’

Revelation 20: 11

Then I saw a great white throne and the One who was sitting on it. In his presence, earth and sky vanished, leaving no trace.

Revelation 21: 1

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; the first heaven and the first earth had disappeared now, and there was no longer any sea.

Matthew 11: 25-30

At that time Jesus exclaimed, ‘I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and of earth, for hiding these things from the learned and the clever and revealing them to little children. Yes, Father, for that is what it pleased you to do. Everything has been entrusted to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, just as no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

‘Come to me, all you who labour and are overburdened, and I will give you rest. Shoulder my yoke and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Yes, my yoke is easy and my burden light.’

Betty is a handmaid who has prayed in the

China Church for 11 years. To get from her

house to the church she uses a walker and

must go over a creek and a little bridge.

We wanted a little place she could rest

by the Church. We need about $1,000 to

make this happen. Can you help us?

We are trying to get

Words of Jesus to Members of
Shepherds of Christ Associates:

"My beloved priest-companion, I intend to use the priestly newsletter, Shepherds of Christ, and the movement, Shepherds of Christ Associates, in a powerful way for the renewal of My Church and the world.

"I will use the newsletter and the chapters of Shepherds of Christ Associates as a powerful instrument for spreading devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart.

"I am calling many to become members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. To all of them I will give great blessings. I will use them as instruments to help bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. I will give great graces to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. I will call them to be deeply united to My Heart and to Mary's Heart as I lead them ever closer to My Father in the Holy Spirit."

- Message from Jesus to Father Edward J. Carter, S.J., Founder, as given on July 31, 1994,
feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Founder of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits)

Yes — All the ends of the earth have seen
the power of God.

God has called us to be united as a family in
the Shepherds of Christ.

This is a vocation — to pray deeply for
the priests, the Church and the world and
to help support the Newsletter and the
Ministries.

Remember the image of Our Lady
of Clearwater on the building. We have
very special Fatima statues so you can
have a special place of prayer in your
homes, praying the rosary for your family
and for the priests, the Church and the
world. If you are interested in these
very special Fatima/Clearwater statues
e-mail me with your phone number
and address
info@sofc.org.

     Those using the special statues
will be united to us in a special way —
We want you to pray the Shepherds of
Christ prayers for the priests, the Church
and the world from your special place
in your home.

When people have set up a prayer corner/niche
with this statue, Fatima/Clearwater glass, they have
reported that their families have received special
blessings. With this statue it is important to pray
the prayers in the red prayer manual and consecrate
your home and family to the Sacred Heart and
Immaculate Heart.

Call Sheila or Doris about statues or go to China or
Clearwater.
