Today is the Visitation

Sing: Hail Mary Gentle Woman

                May 31, 2011 - The Visitation

Genesis 3: 1-8

Now, the snake was the most subtle of all the wild animals that Yahweh God had made. It asked the woman, 'Did God really say you were not to eat from any of the trees in the garden?' The woman answered the snake, 'We may eat the fruit of the trees in the garden. But of the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden God said, "You must not eat it, nor touch it, under pain of death." ' Then the snake said to the woman, 'No! You will not die! God knows in fact that the day you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods, knowing good from evil.' The woman saw that the tree was good to eat and pleasing to the eye, and that it was enticing for the wisdom that it could give. So she took some of its fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband who was with her, and he ate it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they realised that they were naked. So they sewed fig-leaves together to make themselves loin-cloths.

The man and his wife heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from Yahweh God among the trees of the garden.

                R. The serpent is cunning —

He makes good look evil and evil look good —

The devil tempted Eve to do evil by
trying to convince her it was okay and
                    good —

When we choose unloving ways — we
do not do God's will —
                    this distances us from God
                    this abuses our freedom —
                    being really free is doing
                        God's will —

                Eve disobeyed God —
                Adam and Eve fell —

                God created a harmonious, orderly
                    world —

                The devil wants disharmony
                The devil wants power-over - authority —
                The devil wants challenging authority
The devil wants disobedience to God's will —
                The devil wants isolation —
                The devil wants obstinacy!!
The devil wants anger, bitterness and unforgiveness

We have to die now because Adam and
                    Eve sinned!!

Death is contrary to God's Plan —
                Death entered the world —
                Sin entered the world —

                The devil is deceptive —
The devil shows good as evil.
The devil shows evil as good.

When we sin — we prefer ourselves
to God — we raise ourselves
                    above God —

When we sin we raise ourselves
                    over our own good —

When we sin — we want to live
                    independent of God —

                Because sin entered the world
the harmony of creation is distorted —

Because of sin we see God distortedly —
Because of sin we see others distortedly —
Because of sin we see ourselves distortedly —

There is tendencies toward lust, envy, jealousy,
                    covetousness, pride etc. —

Because of sin and man's distorted vision
he will often flee his call
                    from God —

Because of fear — man will often
flee his call from God —

                Disobedience to God's will brings
                    disorder and lack of harmony

                Blame enters the world —
                Concupiscence enters the world —
The world, the flesh and the devil

Man is torn between a pull of grace or
                    a pull of concupiscence

                R. Paul's journey was a journey
                of spreading the Good News

His battle was not one of fighting
                with weapons —

Hebrews 4: 12-13

The word of God is something alive and active: it cuts more incisively than any two–edged sword: it can seek out the place where soul is divided from spirit, or joints from marrow; it can pass judgement on secret emotions and thoughts. No created thing is hidden from him; everything is uncovered and stretched fully open to the eyes of the one to whom we must give account of ourselves.

                R. Paul's weapons were his word —
Paul's weapons was his love —

Paul spread the truth of Jesus —
We read about Paul today —

We read the words of St. Luke daily
now in the Acts of the Apostles —

How the Good News was spread —
How the Gospel was spread by the
                    Apostles —

Witnessing to the resurrection of Jesus
who died for our sins —

Jesus who walked the earth —

Jesus, the Son of God, who came to sinful
man out of love, who lived and
died and rose from the dead so
                    we could share abundantly in
                    His life —

Romans 6: 9

But we believe that, if we died with Christ, then we shall live with him too. We know that Christ has been raised from the dead and will never die again. Death has no power over him any more.

                R. St. Luke speaking in the first
                    reading is telling us the
                    Kingdom of God is spread
by the Holy Spirit and men letting
God work in them to spread
                    the Gospel —

Acts 16: 11-15

Sailing from Troas we made a straight run for Samothrace; the next day for Neapolis, and from there for Philippi, a Roman colony and the principal city of that district of Macedonia. After a few days in this city we went outside the gates beside a river as it was the Sabbath and this was a customary place for prayer. We sat down and preached to the women who had come to the meeting. One of these women was called Lydia, a woman from the town of Thyatira who was in the purple-dye trade, and who revered God. She listened to us, and the Lord opened her heart to accept what Paul was saying. After she and her household had been baptised she kept urging us, 'If you judge me a true believer in the Lord,' she said, 'come and stay with us.' And she would take no refusal. It happened one day that as we were going to prayer, we were met by a slave-girl who was a soothsayer and made a lot of money for her masters by foretelling the future.

                R. Men say 'yes' to God —

The Holy Spirit fills us as we
spread the Good News of the
                    Gospel

John 15: 26

When the Paraclete comes,
whom I shall send to you from the Father,
the Spirit of truth
who issues from the Father,
he will be my witness.

John 16: 4

But I have told you all this,
so that when the time for it comes
you may remember that I told you.

  The coming of the Paraclete

I did not tell you this from the beginning,
because I was with you;

                R. St. Paul suffered, St. Paul is
                beaten and jailed

When we really love God we
see the gift of forgiveness in us —
This gift of loving and forgiving
                others bears witness to others
                and they follow Christ because
they see that spirit of forgiveness
                and love in us.

St. Paul suffered — Those who
                went before us in America,
in the Church suffered for our
freedom today — One who wants
the truth of Jesus is willing
to sacrifice and suffer for the
                freedom others receive. We
see Jesus who paid a precious
price and suffered for us —

We see people who went to
war and suffered for our freedom,
their families suffered the loss —

                    Fighting the injustices, the
                rules laid down against God's
will - will cause us to suffer
                ourselves, our lives and sacrifice
for the freedom that the world
lives more as Christ wants it
                to be.

                    We must fight the errors,
                the in-humanity-to man —
                dysfunction in families,
                communities and parishes
to make things better as God
                wants —

This is love — spreading the
                Gospel when one follows in
the footsteps of Jesus — this
                suffering leads to greater
life as the Father intended —

                    The human nature and
                its dysfunction, sinfulness,
rebellion to God's will exists wherever
                imperfect human men try to
interact — to expect ourselves to
be removed from this is to
live in a false reality — As
men grow more in this world
of the flesh, of lies, of killing
babies, God calls us to be
                witnesses to the Gospel —

So we face these divisions —
the devil working to tear apart people
God called to work together —

                    To remove ourselves from
the fight — if God has asked
us to work together is to lead
us to a place of doing our
                will and not God's —

                    Where-ever men exist together,
they are in process of learning
to be more pure, giving and
taking — obeying the authority —
                operating in the structure —
                obeying the rules —

                    Satan wants to rewrite
the rules — so people give into
                the deadly sins —

                    Seeking dominance for
                dominance sake — where ever
there are people — this is a
                struggle for power —
The more one grows in holiness —
                the more one understands
                structure and obedience and
knows God works in order —
                not disorder —

Romans 8: 5-9

Those who are living by their natural inclinations have their minds on the things human nature desires; those who live in the Spirit have their minds on spiritual things. And human nature has nothing to look forward to but death, while the Spirit looks forward to life and peace, because the outlook of disordered human nature is opposed to God, since it does not submit to God's Law, and indeed it cannot, and those who live by their natural inclinations can never be pleasing to God. You, however, live not by your natural inclinations, but by the Spirit, since the Spirit of God has made a home in you. Indeed, anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

                R. Where ever human beings
                are present there will be
                the struggles of working together
                because of the wounded human
                nature and the dysfunctional
                patterned behavior from the
                past —

We are always in the process
of becoming Fr. Carter says —

The world is in the process
of becoming - Fr. Carter says —

The Church is in the process
of becoming - Fr. Carter says — it is
                a pilgrim Church —

                    We are pilgrims on a
                journey —

                The branch that produces
                grapes, only does so, when
                connected to the vine —
We can do nothing without Jesus —
When we think we arrived and we
                are perfect and others should
                not make mistakes then we
are not living in reality —

                    We are wounded human
                creatures and we need to
                work with each other when
God called us to a certain
                vocation —

                    Not answering God's call
                is greater suffering, than
                answering God's call and
                learning to love and forgive
                and build His Kingdom —

St. Paul shows us he suffered
                spreading the Gospel — Jesus
told them some of them would
be killed spreading the Gospel —
So how can we think we will
be happy in an unreal vision
that we will not suffer —
                even tremendously in the
                battle of dealing with wounded
                human persons —

How do you think Christ suffered —
the all perfect God — with the
Apostles — all men — with
                wounded human natures
                from original sin —

If the Son of God could work
with men to give us what we
have today — if He forgave and
had mercy and love for the men
                when they sinned —
How do we think we can
                say we are following Christ's
example when we say if I have
                suffering with people problems
                "I am out of there"

                Look how Christ suffered for
                the people problems we gave
                Him — a life-time of people
                problems, unforgiveness,
                acting hastily then in pride
not saying we were sorry and
getting back to God's call —

God calls us to work together
and we are all imperfect human
                persons — What marriage or
                family would last at all
                if people didn't have 'spats'
love and forgive, work things out
                and try again —

                    The problem comes when
one forces or tries to force
                their bad habits on others
and do not work at renewal —
do not work on changing their
                bad habits, but just keep
                working out their vices on
others — like the cycle of abuse —
                they have tension, a climax,
expect to be forgiven and as soon
as they are forgiven — start again —
God calls us to see ourselves as
                a work in progress —
clay being molded by the Father
                    the potter

                Song: Jesus I Love You

                R. Jesus told us to do a work —

                    Someone was blocking us
                because they knew how,
                we didn't — they would
not help us do what we
                needed to do because they
wanted us to put up with
                their controlling it and using
                it to force behavior where
                they disobeyed —

I said "Jesus told us to do this,
we can do it, if they won't
help and they hold out for control"
We worked — heads in —
It was freedom — we did
                what Jesus wanted without
                the person holding out and
                trying to control.

It was freeing — it stopped
                one person using their job
                to force bad behavior —
We cannot do what we want —
                We need discipline —
We need to work together and
                have a leader —
A leader is put in front —
                others aren't to compete for
                control with the leader —
                There is a plan —
                There is a leader —
                There are followers —
                There are rules —

Satan wants to disrupt order —

                Tear apart people praying
                together or working on
                religious projects building
                God's Kingdom —

We base what we do on
God's will — not another trying
to hold out to stop us —
                dragging the project —
saying - what needs to be done —
                    "it can't be done"

When one is given a direction
                    from one above them —
it can be a habit to change
the direction and do it another
way — or not do it and not
                    even report it —

God expects us to obey the
                leader — work in harmony
with the leader — not be in
                competition to the plan to
                show we can get away
                with doing it our way
                because we want to show
                we're not under anybody —

God puts people in authority —

God wants us working in harmony
                    on the Plans He wants
                    done —

                Satan wants people to seek
                    dominance for dominance
                    sake —

St. Ignatius says — all sin
                    can be boiled down to
                    seeking, power, wealth
                    and affections —

God gives us the love we need —

When we try to morbidly control
                    others for our needed power
                    or affections — we miss
                    the merit we could get
                    for our good works —

                We are attached inordinately
                    to power or wealth or
                    affections —

                Instead of giving because
it is God's will and being
                happy to serve — happy
God is so good to us —

                    The fallen angels said
"I will not serve God" and
                they want people to say
"I have the power, I'll show
you — I do it my way"

                What business, family etc. would
                    grow with this attitude?

Why give it to God's work
who is so good to us —

The great gift we can give to
                    our children those after
                    us is spreading this
                    Movement Jesus gave Fr. Carter
                    17 years ago today —

                May 31, 1994

                The message was given to
                    Fr. Carter about the Priestly
                    Newsletter and the Movement

John 10: 11-15

I am the good shepherd:
the good shepherd lays down his life
   for his sheep.
The hired man,
since he is not the shepherd
and the sheep do not belong to him,
abandons the sheep
as soon as he sees a wolf coming,
   and runs away,
and then the wolf attacks
   and scatters the sheep;
he runs away
because he is only a hired man
and has no concern for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd;
I know my own
and my own know me,
just as the Father knows me
and I know the Father;
and I lay down my life for my sheep.

                R. Fr. Carter laid down his life
                    for this Movement

                R. He wasn't afraid to
                    suffer —

He did what had to be done —

                11 years ago I, the co-founder,
                    kept the Movement with
                    these messages going
with John the President and others —

The devil presses on people and
if they go farther and farther
                    from that grace God wants
                    to give, they become
                    more and more blinded and
                    angry while they aren't
                    doing God's will —

                Not doing God's will distances
                    ourselves from God —
                    then we become more
                    blinded and angry because
                    our hearts are off

                R. St. Paul suffered, he was
flogged, he was jailed — he
could have taken it easy — said
                this is too hard —

Stephen the first martyr could have
                    thought about his life —

Peter could have sat back —

Come Holy Spirit, Come Help us to
                    be soldiers in the army
                    of Christ —
                    Soldiers for Christ - fight
                        for Him —
They witness — they go out
                    They aren't caved-in

We are sons and daughters of God —
Help us to love and worship God —
Help us to do God's will

John 16: 5-11

but now I am going to the one
   who sent me.
Not one of you asks,
    ‘Where are you going?’
Yet you are sad at heart
because I have told you this.
Still, I am telling you the truth:
it is for your own good that I am going,
because unless I go,
the Paraclete will not come to you;
but if I go,
I will send him to you.
And when he comes,
he will show the world how wrong it was,
about sin,
and about who was in the right,
and about judgement:
about sin:
in that they refuse to believe in me;
about who was in the right:
in that I am going to the Father
and you will see me no more;
about judgement:
in that the prince of this world
    is already condemned.

                R. The best thing we can do is
                    labor in God's garden —
asking the Holy Spirit to fill us and
                    guide us —
                    do it God's way —
don't do it our way —
                    God's way - in harmony —

The Holy Spirit guides us —
He is the soul in the Church —

The Holy Spirit will guide us in
                    the right direction —
                    Pray to the Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit Novena

DAILY NOVENA PRAYERS

Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus, in union with Him in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in the Holy Spirit. We come to You united to the Child Jesus of Good Health and the Infant of Prague. We come to You in the perfect, sinless heart of Our Mother Mary, asking her powerful intercession, uniting ourselves to her holy tears. We come to You united to all the angels and saints, and the souls in purgatory.

Prayer for Holy Spirit

We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on us, to be baptized by the Holy Spirit, that He will descend mightily on us as He did on the Apostles at Pentecost. That the Holy Spirit will transform us from fear to fearlessness and that He will give us courage to do all the Father is asking of us to help bring about the Reign of the Sacred Heart and the triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart. We pray for the Holy Spirit to descend mightily on the Jesuits and the Poor Clares on the Shepherds of Christ leaders and members and on the whole Body of Christ and the world.

Protection by the Blood of Jesus

We pray that the Blood of Jesus will be spread on us, everyone in our families, and the Shepherds of Christ Movement, that we will be able to move steadfastly ahead and be protected from the evil one.

Healing

We pray for healing in body, mind, and soul and generational healing in ourselves, in all members in our families, and in all members of the Shepherds of Christ Movement, the Jesuit Community, the Poor Clares, the Body of Christ, and the world.

Prayer for Strength and Light

We adore You, oh Holy Spirit. Give us strength, give us light, console us. We give ourselves entirely to You. Oh Spirit of light and grace, we want to only do the will of the Father. Enlighten us that we may live always in the Father's will.

Eternal Spirit fill us with Your Divine Wisdom that we may comprehend more fully insight into Your Divine Mysteries.

Give us lights, Oh Holy Spirit that we may know God. Work within the heart, the spiritual womb of the Virgin Mary, to form us more and more into the image of Jesus.

Prayer to Be One with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit

We long for You, Oh Spirit of Light, we long to know God, we want to be one with Him, our Divine God. We want to be one with the Father, know Him as a Person most intimately. We want to know the beloved One, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and live and dwell in Him at all times, every moment of our lives. We want to be one with You, Oh Spirit of Light, that You move in us in our every breath.

Prayer to Be One in Jesus

Let us experience life in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so we can say as Saint Paul, "I have been crucified with Christ and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me...." Let us live, united to the Mass, all through the day being one in Him. Let us be able to love and know in this elevated state of oneness with our God. We long for Thee, oh beauteous God, we love You, we love You, we love You. We praise You, worship You, honor You, adore You, and thank You, our beloved God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Prayer to Dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

We seek to be one in God, to live and dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, our little heaven on earth, to experience life in the all perfect, pure, sinless heart of our Mother. We want the Holy Spirit to move in us and to be united to Jesus as the Bridegroom of our souls and be a most perfect sacrifice offered to the Father at every moment as we unite in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass around the world to help in the salvation of souls.

Prayer for the Holy Spirit and His Gifts

Come Holy Spirit, come, come into our hearts, inflame all people with the fire of Your love.

Leader: Send forth Your Spirit and all will be reborn.
All:  And You will renew the face of the earth.

We pray for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, we ask for perfection in our souls to make us holy, holy souls likened to God.

Dear Holy Spirit, we give ourselves to You soul and body. We ask You to give us the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord.

Prayer for the Word Alive in Our Hearts

We know, dear Holy Spirit, the Word in His human nature was brought forth within the womb of the woman. We pray that His word will be brought forth in our hearts as He lives and dwells in us. We want the incarnation to go on in our lives. Dear Holy Spirit, work in us.

Little Prayers to the Holy Spirit

Dear Holy Spirit, help us not to be ignorant or indifferent or weak, help us to be strong with the love of God.

Dear Holy Spirit, please pray for our needs for us.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to respect God and to avoid sin. Help us to live in the Father's will.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to keep Your commandments and to respect authority. Help us to love all things as You will us to love them. Help us to want to pray and always serve God with the greatest love. Help us to know the truth. Help us to have the gift of faith, hope, and love. Help us to know what is right and what is wrong.

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

Psalm 18: 50, 22, 23

He saves his king time after time,
displays his faithful love for his anointed,
for David and his heirs for ever.

His judgements are all before me,
his statutes I have not put away from me.

I am blameless before him,
I keep myself clear of evil.

                R. Jesus promises the Apostles
                    the Spirit will guide
                    them in the truth —

John 16: 12-15

I still have many things to say to you
but they would be too much for you
    to bear now.
However, when the Spirit of truth comes
he will lead you to the complete truth,
since he will not be speaking
    of his own accord,
but will say only what he has been told;
and he will reveal to you
    the things to come.
He will glorify me,
since all he reveals to you
will be taken from what is mine.
Everything the Father has is mine;
that is why I said:
all he reveals to you
will be taken from what is mine.

                R. Jesus came to teach us
                    how to live —

Through Him, With Him, In Him

                R. We should have every thought,
word and deed for God —

                        23. FIRST PRINCIPLE AND FOUNDATION

our Lord, and by this means to save his soul.

                Song: A Song from Jesus

Acts 18: 1-8

After this Paul left Athens and went to Corinth, where he met a Jew called Aquila whose family came from Pontus. He and his wife Priscilla had recently left Italy because an edict of Claudius had expelled all the Jews from Rome. Paul went to visit them, and when he found they were tentmakers, of the same trade as himself, he lodged with them, and they worked together. Every Sabbath he used to hold debates in the synagogues, trying to convert Jews as well as Greeks.

After Silas and Timothy had arrived from Macedonia, Paul devoted all his time to preaching, declaring to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ. When they turned against him and started to insult him, he took his cloak and shook it out in front of them, saying, 'Your blood be on your own heads; from now on I will go to the gentiles with a clear conscience.' Then he left the synagogue and moved to the house next door that belonged to a worshipper of God called Justus. Crispus, president of the synagogue, and his whole household, all became believers in the Lord. Many Corinthians when they heard this became believers and were baptised.

                R. Jesus is always helping us —
we know we are sinners —
we can turn to Jesus and
He loves us so much —

We have to be willing to let
                    go and give ourselves
                    to Jesus

Revelation 5: 9-10

They sang a new hymn:

You are worthy to take the scroll
and to break its seals,
because you were sacrificed,
    and with your blood
you bought people for God
of every race, language, people and nation
and made them
a line of kings and priests
for God,
to rule the world.

                R. Paul was brought to trial —

                Our journey can be
                    compared to child birth —
                    but our reward if
we do God's will is to
                    go to heaven

John 16: 20-23

‘In all truth I tell you,
you will be weeping and wailing
while the world will rejoice;
you will be sorrowful,
but your sorrow will turn to joy.
A woman in childbirth suffers,
because her time has come;
but when she has given birth to the child
    she forgets the suffering
in her joy that a human being
has been born into the world.
So it is with you: you are sad now,
but I shall see you again,
and your hearts will be full of joy,
and that joy no one shall take from you.
When that day comes,
you will not ask me any questions.
In all truth I tell you,
anything you ask from the Father
he will grant in my name.

Novena to the Infant of Prague
(to be prayed hourly if possible)

O Jesus, who said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted.

O Jesus, who said, "All that you ask of the Father in My Name He will grant you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Your Father in Your Name that my prayer be granted.

O Jesus, who said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted.

1 Peter 2: 9

But you are a chosen race, a kingdom of priests, a holy nation, a people to be a personal possession to sing the praises of God who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

John 16: 23-28

When that day comes,
you will not ask me any questions.
In all truth I tell you,
anything you ask from the Father
he will grant in my name.
Until now you have not asked
    anything in my name.
Ask and you will receive,
` and so your joy will be complete.
I have been telling you these things
    in veiled language.
The hour is coming
when I shall no longer speak to you
    in veiled language
but tell you about the Father
    in plain words.
When that day comes
 you will ask in my name;
 and I do not say
that I shall pray to the Father for you,

because the Father himself loves you
for loving me,
and believing that I came from God.
I came from the Father
and have come into the world
and now I am leaving the world
    to go to the Father.

                R. We need to examine our conscience —

Thank God for His gifts —

                Fr. Carter did his examine
                    10 minutes twice a day —

We ask ourselves if we are
                    in desolation —

If the Holy Spirit is leading us and we
                    are doing God's will —

If the evil one is pressing
on us and we are giving
                    in —
We pray for grace to turn
                    ourselves around if
                    we are in desolation —

We go for added prayer —
                    we need grace

Acts 1: 8

but you will receive the power of the Holy Spirit which will come on you, and then you will be my witnesses not only in Jerusalem but throughout Judaea and Samaria, and indeed to earth's remotest end.'

Acts 19: 1-8

It happened that while Apollos was in Corinth, Paul made his way overland as far as Ephesus, where he found a number of disciples. When he asked, 'Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you became believers?' they answered, 'No, we were never even told there was such a thing as a Holy Spirit.' He asked, 'Then how were you baptised?' They replied, 'With John's baptism.' Paul said, 'John's baptism was a baptism of repentance; but he insisted that the people should believe in the one who was to come after him -- namely Jesus.' When they heard this, they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus, and the moment Paul had laid hands on them the Holy Spirit came down on them, and they began to speak with tongues and to prophesy. There were about twelve of these men in all. He began by going to the synagogue, where he spoke out fearlessly and argued persuasively about the kingdom of God. He did this for three months,

                Sing: Come Holy Ghost

    Revelation 1: 17-18

When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead, but he laid his right hand on me and said, ‘Do not be afraid; it is I, the First and the Last; I am the Living One,  I was dead and look—I am alive for ever and ever, and I hold the keys of death and of Hades.

John 17: 1-11

After saying this, Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said:

Father, the hour has come:
glorify your Son
so that your Son may glorify you;
so that, just as you have given him
   power over all humanity,
he may give eternal life
to all those you have entrusted to him.
And eternal life is this:
to know you,
the only true God,
and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
I have glorified you on earth
by finishing the work
that you gave me to do.
Now, Father, glorify me
with that glory I had with you
before ever the world existed.
I have revealed your name
to those whom you took from the world
   to give me.
They were yours
and you gave them to me,
and they have kept your word.
Now at last they have recognised
that all you have given me
   comes from you
for I have given them
the teaching you gave to me,
and they have indeed accepted it
and know for certain
   that I came from you,
and have believed
that it was you who sent me.
It is for them that I pray.
I am not praying for the world
but for those you have given me,
because they belong to you.
All I have is yours
and all you have is mine,
and in them I am glorified.
I am no longer in the world,
but they are in the world,
and I am coming to you.
Holy Father,
keep those you have given me
   true to your name,
so that they may be one like us.

Jesus: This is the picture I want in My messages. When you read these messages, look at My picture and know I love you. These messages are My words of love for each of you.

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

                R. We only have so many days here —

                Children grow up —
                We grow old —

God help us to see clearly
                    how we are here to
                    serve you

                We are on a stage
                God is watching us —

We have problems of life —
                    in our job —
                    at home —
                    in ourselves —

What is God's Plan in this?

Not what do I usually do so
I can do it my limited
old, tired - do it my
                    way - way

                God give us courage
to do it Your way —

Help us to walk in the
                    truth —

                To unlock the ideal self
                    created by God the Father

                React positively —

                Do it God's way —
                    not your old habitual
                        way opposed to God's will

Believe the best — Do it
for God's honor and glory —
                    not for vain glory —
                    not for power
                    not for control
                    not for affections

                R. God has a plan for us —
                    a unique plan —
                    Seek it
                    Do it —

                Don't feel trapped!
                Don't be caved-in!

                Believe God gives
                    us all the grace
                    we need to do
                    His will —

                Believe you can do
                    God's will

                Make a commitment
                    to seek God's will —
                    to do it —

                Discipline yourself —

                Expect it to happen!

Live to model your life after
                    Jesus and Mary

Help me to always love You in return. Help me to give myself entirely to You. Help me always to pour out my life in love of God and neighbor! Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You!

"Dear Blessed Virgin Mary, I consecrate myself to your maternal and Immaculate Heart, this Heart which is symbol of your life of love. You are the Mother of my Savior. You are also my Mother. You love me with a most special love as a member of Shepherds of Christ Associates, a movement created by your Son as a powerful instrument for the renewal of the Church and the world. In a return of love, I give myself entirely to your motherly love and protection. You followed Jesus perfectly. You are His first and perfect disciple. Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15
Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15
Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts. - Cycle A (partial) Homilies by the Reverend Joe Robinson given at St. Boniface Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a tremendous honor Fr. Joe has allowed us to share these great gifts with you – for greater holiness and knowing more and more about God. $10

Spirituality Handbook. Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. did 3 synopsis of the spiritual life. The Spirituality Handbook, the Priestly Newsletter 2000 Issue 3 and the Tell My People book. The way of spiritual life proposed to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates is centered in consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. All aspects of the spiritual life discussed below should be viewed as means to help members develop their lives in consecration to Christ, the Sacred Heart, and to Mary, the Immaculate Heart. $3
Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ..." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
