June 29, 2011 - Sts. Peter and Paul

                    R. Where does the sun shine on this
                    golden morning?

The sun I see shines on me,
my car and their car and their car and
it follows me — It was back
there and now it is here and on them —

Do I own the air, above me
                    surrounding me, I breathe?
I see a big building over there and a big
                    chimney and for miles around
they put some kind of smoke
into the air surrounding me —

Well Jesus died for all men —
He knew them by name —

The sun is blinding me now
for I am driving into it —
                        but its blinding all the
                        other ones too —

                    Even though the light is
                        powerful and bright it
is blinding and it works on
all around me at the same
                        time — blinding us —

The devil is like this — he wants
                        people isolated — doing
their own will — disregard for
obedience and authority — to see
                        themselves under the sun on
the golden morning and to not realize
the sun shines on many men,
                        on the earth — blinding
                        many —

They can think only of themselves
                        as down here effected, but
it may be how they see it,
                        but it isn't true, it's
                        not reality —

Does a man drive a busy
                        highway with only thoughts
                        of himself?

He wouldn't live too long —

Life is like that — God
put us here to work with
                         each other —

The devil says — go out there and
                          think only of yourself —

The devil wants people to think they
are the only people on the earth
—
to not work together — to be
                          self-centered and disharmonious —
to even try to see themselves as above
                          the natural law —

                            The devil wants anything that
                          opposes God —

                            In religious communities men
are to be under obedience and work in
love — The Trinity is the most perfect
community, but in trying to start
                        a community people who only
worked alone most of their lives —
come and want to stay isolated —

A person opposing God's will, has
a rule — do anything my way and
                            oppose anyone ever telling me
how or what to do —

                        We see Saul —

The people wanted a people - King —
                        Samuel anointed Saul, but
Saul soon wanted only to please
himself and the people — he worried
                        more about himself and what
people thought of him — rather
than being a King doing what
                        God wanted —

Building the Kingdom of God was
                        far from Saul's mind —

He disobeyed what God told him
through Samuel and he had excuses
for every time he disobeyed —
                        He offered sacrifice when he
was told to wait — saying
he had to do something —

He didn't do what God wanted —
                            He disobeyed —
He was jealous of David —
He wanted David wiped out —

He could have been a mighty —
                            warrior, serving God —

Instead his god was himself —
                            He disobeyed God and thought
God should do it his way —

Adam and Eve wanted to be equal
                            to God —

Look at the mess we got from
                            their pride and selfishness —

                        Cain slaughtered his brother —

                        There was so much corruption
at the time of Noah —

God wiped out all but Noah's
family to purify the earth of
                            these willful people.

Impart to me, oh God a clean
heart — one living by Your
                            statutes and laws —

                        One obeying Your will —

So we do all these good acts, but
                            disobey God's will —

Psalm 40: 6

"Sacrifice or oblation you wished not, but ears open to obedience you gave me."

                        R. Why do we give God something
                            else — like Samuel when
                            he wants obedience —

                         Don't we get how Jesus
                            taught us about doing
                            the Father's will —
                            how Jesus suffered saying
                            "Not My will, but Thine
                                    be done."

                         Jesus paid a big price
                            teaching us this message —

                        Today's Readings

Acts 12: 1-11

It was about this time that King Herod started persecuting certain members of the church. He had James the brother of John beheaded, and when he saw that this pleased the Jews he went on to arrest Peter as well. As it was during the days of Unleavened Bread that he had arrested him, he put him in prison, assigning four sections of four soldiers each to guard him, meaning to try him in public after the Passover. All the time Peter was under guard the church prayed to God for him unremittingly.

On the night before Herod was to try him, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, fastened with two chains, while guards kept watch at the main entrance to the prison. Then suddenly an angel of the Lord stood there, and the cell was filled with light. He tapped Peter on the side and woke him. 'Get up!' he said, 'Hurry!'-and the chains fell from his hands. The angel then said, 'Put on your belt and sandals.' After he had done this, the angel next said, 'Wrap your cloak round you and follow me.' He followed him out, but had no idea that what the angel did was all happening in reality; he thought he was seeing a vision. They passed through the first guard post and then the second and reached the iron gate leading to the city. This opened of its own accord; they went through it and had walked the whole length of one street when suddenly the angel left him. It was only then that Peter came to himself. And he said, 'Now I know it is all true. The Lord really did send his angel and save me from Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting.'

2 Timothy 4: 6-8, 17-18

As for me, my life is already being poured away as a libation, and the time has come for me to depart. I have fought the good fight to the end; I have run the race to the finish; I have kept the faith; all there is to come for me now is the crown of uprightness which the Lord, the upright judge, will give to me on that Day; and not only to me but to all those who have longed for his appearing.

But the Lord stood by me and gave me power, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed for all the gentiles to hear; and so I was saved from the lion's mouth. The Lord will rescue me from all evil attempts on me, and bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Matthew 16: 13-19

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi he put this question to his disciples, ‘Who do people say the Son of man is?’ And they said, ‘Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.’ ‘But you,’ he said, ‘who do you say I am?’ Then Simon Peter spoke up and said, ‘You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ Jesus replied, ‘Simon son of Jonah, you are a blessed man! Because it was no human agency that revealed this to you but my Father in heaven. So I now say to you: You are Peter and on this rock I will build my community. And the gates of the underworld can never overpower it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of Heaven: whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven; whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.’

                        R. In the Gospel —

Peter could admit Jesus was the Messiah —
when this was written - Peter was already
                        dead —

We see the institution that God was
                            establishing — the Church —

The Pope does not succeed the previous
                            pope — the pope comes
                            in succession — from Peter.

                        There is tradition —
                        Founded on Jesus —
Working to bring that Faith to others
                            as Paul did

Almighty God help us to know and do
                            Your will —

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994

                        R. Here are 2 men who lived to serve
God and build His Kingdom —

Jesus: They were blessed for their faith
                            for in the end —
the measure is how did you love?
How did you serve your God?
How did you live likened to Me —
who did the Father's will —

                        R. Many marriages fail because Jesus
                           is not in them —

Intercede to Mary for the marriages

John 2: 1-11

On the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. The mother of Jesus was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited. And they ran out of wine, since the wine provided for the feast had all been used, and the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ Jesus said, ‘Woman, what do you want from me? My hour has not come yet.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’ There were six stone water jars standing there, meant for the ablutions that are customary among the Jews: each could hold twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, ‘Fill the jars with water,’ and they filled them to the brim. Then he said to them, ‘Draw some out now and take it to the president of the feast.’ They did this; the president tasted the water, and it had turned into wine. Having no idea where it came from—though the servants who had drawn the water knew—the president of the feast called the bridegroom and said, ‘Everyone serves good wine first and the worse wine when the guests are well wined; but you have kept the best wine till now.’ This was the first of Jesus’ signs: it was at Cana in Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

                        R. Religious need Mary —
Religious are married to Jesus —

The union of the 2 Hearts —
Mary is the spiritual Mother —
We see Mary at the wedding of Cana
—
We know that the most perfect
                            relationship between Jesus and
man is with Mary — conceived without sin —

The most perfect community is the Trinity —
We see how Jesus taught us about
obedience to the Father's will —
To His death on the cross —
Jesus obeyed the Father's will —

                        R. In Blue Book IV we see Jesus talk about His
                            relationship with His Mother —

We see Mary talk about her love
                            for Jesus —

Everything in the spiritual life "boils"
                            down to relationships —

Asking for forgiveness when we offend
                            God — restoring our relationship
                            with God —

Asking for forgiveness when we do
                            something wrong —
                            restoring our relationship with
                                others —
and we will be blessed because what
we do to others - we do to God —

Wouldn't you like to be more
                            unselfish, more giving in love,
generosity from the heart, joy —
                            tenderness, kindness, goodness,
                            humility and self-control —

These are the fruits of the Holy Spirit —

Jesus took the apostles up Mt. Tabor and
                            He was transfigured before
                            them —

The devil is an evil spirit!!
Do we let the Holy Spirit lead us?
Do we let the evil spirit lead us?

Our mission is to be a witness to others
of God who lives in us —

                        Others see us building God's
                            Kingdom —

The Holy Spirit moves in us —

Jesus prayed at the Last Supper

John 17: 21-23

May they all be one,
just as, Father, you are in me
   and I am in you,
so that they also may be in us,
so that the world may believe
it was you who sent me.
I have given them the glory
   you gave to me,
that they may be one as we are one.
With me in them and you in me,
may they be so perfected in unity
that the world will recognise
that it was you who sent me
and that you have loved them
as you have loved me.

Cling to Me

May 13, 1993

Jesus: My dear child, if you stay close to Me, then I live in you and you live in Me. I am He Who created you and I love you with such an intensity that you will never know. My words are your truth. You must abide in My heart in all things. There is no room for doubt. My ways are steadfast, direct, and without error.

You must stay rooted in Me to ward off the power of the evil one. His grip is paralyzing and crippling. His power is stronger every day.

When you live in Me, I am in your heart and he has no power over Me. I am your God. I am your true lover. I want to protect you. I want to guard you from this force. Stay rooted firmly in Me and he will have no power.

I am He Who comforts you. My hand is upon you. Hold tight to Me, My child. My eyes are fixed right on you. You are My most precious child. I love you as no other can. My arms are about you. My tenderness surrounds you. My love is in your heart. You go not alone. I walk with you.

I share every aspect of your life with you. Cling to Me, feel My presence. It is warm and secure within your chest. There is no room for fear, for I cast out fear and bring you comfort and joy.

Jesus:  Life creeps on in petty
                    pace —
you cannot live yesterday over again —
when you go to bed tonight at
midnight the day will be gone
                    forever —

                R. The Spirit is a mystery —
The Spirit strengthens us, moves in
                        us like the wind —

The Holy Spirit wants to give us love on
fire — trying to control our
                        spiritual life is stopping this
                        gift —

The Holy Spirit is a mystery

We must seek God's Plan —

Living life as we used to — so we
                        don't have to grow
                        can be a slow death

                    We need Jesus —
                    Jesus is the Savior —

If we tell ourselves we can do it —
                        we can fail — (
We depend on God)

It is because of God's grace
                        if we are good —

The Holy Spirit moves in us
The Holy Spirit moves in the Church —

Matthew 25: 14-30

‘It is like a man about to go abroad who summoned his servants and entrusted his property to them. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to a third one, each in proportion to his ability. Then he set out on his journey. The man who had received the five talents promptly went and traded with them and made five more. The man who had received two made two more in the same way. But the man who had received one went off and dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.  Now a long time afterwards, the master of those servants came back and went through his accounts with them. The man who had received the five talents came forward bringing five more. “Sir,” he said, “you entrusted me with five talents; here are five more that I have made.” His master said to him, “Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you are trustworthy in small things; I will trust you with greater; come and join in your master’s happiness.” Next the man with the two talents came forward. “Sir,” he said, “you entrusted me with two talents; here are two more that I have made.” His master said to him, “Well done, good and trustworthy servant; you have shown you are trustworthy in small things; I will trust you with greater; come and join in your master’s happiness.” Last came forward the man who had the single talent. “Sir,” said he, “I had heard you were a hard man, reaping where you had not sown and gathering where you had not scattered; so I was afraid, and I went off and hid your talent in the ground. Here it is; it was yours, you have it back.” But his master answered him, “You wicked and lazy servant! So you knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered? Well then, you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my return I would have got my money back with interest.  So now, take the talent from him and give it to the man who has the ten talents.  For to everyone who has will be given more, and he will have more than enough; but anyone who has not, will be deprived even of what he has. As for this good–for–nothing servant, throw him into the darkness outside, where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.”

                R. Oh Most Holy Heart of Jesus help me
not to be caved in like the man
in the bucket — who has made
                    his habits his end —
It is like quick sand —
                    He stands alone —

His life can be lived trying to prove he is
                        perfect, he is right —
                        he needs no one —

He may think he does it alone —

            He has arrived —

Then if he makes a mistake he can
                        punish others further —
for his god can be being perfect (to himself) —
                        being right —

In the stuck man there is not life in his ways —
He is stuck like in a niche of
                        the tree —

We are here on a journey to love and serve
                        God and others —

The man caved in lives life — caved in —

The man living in God — filled with
                        love in His Heart —
                        lives to go out —

A child wanted to be alone —

So they created tension — to keep
                        others away —

There was always friction — so they
                        could have a problem going
on why they had a reason
                        to be divided —

Every place they went — they
                        found this division to
stay isolated, caved in and divided —

                    R. JESUS was open —

                    Jesus didn't hide —

Judas hid his evil plan —

                    The devil wants his evil
                        design to remain in
                        secret —

Song: Give me your heart oh Jesus

                    R. Jesus' Heart is a fountain of
                        blessings —

                R. We pray for the priest, the Church
                    and the world.

A man drove a motor cycle in the left lane
and everyone had to pass on the right or stay
                behind him —

                    he was little,
cars and truck — big —
when the sun shone — it shined on
                    the cars, trucks, etc. —
                    the man saw only himself.

                The morning was golden —

The gold sun shone on the street —

Cars went to and fro —

        Some couldn't see —

The sun was in their eyes —
who saw the golden morning painted by
God — as an opportunity to love and
                        do His will —
who planned the day to be alone —
                        divided
                        irritated
                        angry —

                    Addicted to division
                    Addicted to anger
Saying "no" to God when we could
do it His way and have a victory —

It is the journey we walk and the
                    reward is for doing it
                    God's way —
                    living in relationship —
not wanting to offend God —

Some drove the golden street and they
never saw the golden street —

The streets of heaven are paved in
                    gold with the price paid

                America

                    God Bless America

Look at the beauty God has
                    given us in our country

                The rich green fields —
                The snow covered mountains —
                The oceans so beautiful —
The sun shines on America —
The sun shines on many —

                God bless us —
Let us be grateful for our blessings —

                Beautiful buildings where
                    people govern and work —
                    awesome sunsets over these structures

                From east to west

We see the beauty of this precious
                    land —

Do we look to God to recognize
the sound of the birdies —
the light of the sunlit day —

Do we recognize God who made
                    oceans and rivers and
                    lands and oh God
You gave us such beauty —
                    The sky —
                    The light of day —
Oh God — thank You for Your
                        gifts —

                Beautiful trees —
                    green in summer —
                    flowers in spring
autumn leaves of such splendor and
                    oh the snow resting on
a line of barren trees —

Oh God — thank You for such beauty —
                    spring —
                    summer
                    autumn
                    winter —

Oh God the beauty of Your skies —
                    the fresh fallen snow —
                    little fields flowers

Oh God — we are so ungrateful
                    for all Your gifts given
to us — forgive our ignorance God —

Help us to see the good things You
                    give us —

Not see in a tunnel or
                Caved in on ourselves and
                miss the sunset —

                The rocks of the seashore
                The waves coming in and
                    out on the sand —

                The birds beckoning us to
relax and take it in —
                    now — now — now

Let the sun reflect like golden
                    light on the waters, the
                    oceans, the rivers —

Let the beauty of Your land
                    and sea shine in our
                    eyes —

                Let the mountains reflect
the light of a full sun or
                    show us the night by
the light of the moon —

Let waters show so blue — we
                    gasp for their beauty —
                    adorned with fur trees
                    and palm trees —
                    sailboats, motorboats,
                    ocean liners —

The sun setting on a restful
                    day — reflecting on the
                    ocean —

                The clouds hanging low —
                The fire of fall —
                The steeple of Churches —
The beauty of a red coated
                    day reflecting against
a blue sky and on the
                    ocean waters —

Let sun shine as it never
                    shown before and

Let us see from the plane the
                    clouds high above that
                    we may have missed —

                Snow so beautiful for children
                    with the snow balls,
                    sleds and
the men on the skies —
                    seeing the beauty of fur
                    trees, blue skies and
                    snow covered splendor —

Rosie cheeks for you and me —

                For this is reality —

But we could have missed this
                    while we were alive —
                    focusing on having more —
                    being angry, wanting
                    someone or something
                    to make us happy —

                A snow covered day —
                A field of white —
                A funeral of a dear fried —

Excerpt from Priestly Newsletter 1998 - ISSUE FOUR

Shortly before he was to die from cancer, Joseph Cardinal Bernardin left us these inspiring words about peace: "It is the first day of November, and fall is giving way to winter. Soon the trees will lose the vibrant colors of their leaves and snow will cover the ground. The earth will shut down, and people will race to and from their destinations bundled up for warmth. Chicago winters are harsh. It is a time of dying.

"But we know that spring will soon come with all its new life and wonder.

"It is quite clear that I will not be alive in the spring. But I will soon experience new life in a different way...

"What I would like to leave behind is a simple prayer that each of you may find what I have found—God's special gift to us all: the gift of peace. When we are at peace, we find the freedom to be most fully who we are, even in the worst of times. We let go of what is non-essential and embrace what is essential. We empty ourselves so that God may more fully work within us. And we become instruments in the hands of the Lord."

                Song: A Song from Jesus

From a Lenten Homily, March 24, 2000

Live in the Moment

Today’s Gospel in its story certainly points ahead to Jesus in His Passion and death. And as we read passages such as this during the Lenten season, we are reminded once again that the Church in her Liturgy of the Word gives us an opportunity to undergo a purification, an ever deepening cleansing of ourselves so that we may be a more fit instrument for receiving the great graces which are to be given to us at the time of the Resurrection memorial on Easter. And so all in all, Lent is a time of purification to prepare us for ever-greater gifts of the Lord. It’s a time of self-discipline, a time to renew our efforts to be self-disciplined in the service of the Lord. Self-discipline is an aspect of purification. And I suggest that one of the most difficult acts of self-discipline in the spiritual journey is to concentrate on the present moment. We have a very strong tendency to disregard the importance of the present moment by focusing in a wrong way on the past or in a wrong way on the future. There are proper occasions for thinking of the past and the future. For example, we have to learn from the past and we have to prepare for the future, but our great emphasis has to be upon the present. There is a Latin axiom which says, age quod agis, age quod agis, which means: do what you are doing, concentrate on the present. And of course we are familiar with that term in the history of spirituality: the sacrament of the present moment. And so the discipline of Lent certainly encourages us to include in a deeper self-discipline a greater determination to get as much as we can out of the present moment. People with a terminal illness have an opportunity as they prepare for death for increased prayer, contrition, love of God. However, some are taken very, very quickly. But for those who have the opportunity of knowing with some certainty the time of their death, I’m sure as they look back on their lives, they are saddened by the many times they did not use time and opportunities for the service of the Lord properly, and are overjoyed at those times in which they did use the present opportunity properly. A great means we have of living in the present properly is a greater focus upon our Lord. For if I have that awareness of the fact I am united with Jesus here and now, why should I be concerned so much about the future or the past? Yes, a great help in living in the present and deriving all the good we can from it for ourselves and others is an ever greater focus upon Jesus, because the more I focus upon Jesus and the more I live with Him in the present moment, the more I am satisfied with the present moment. And so let us in our Lenten activity resolve to grow in that self-discipline - which is very difficult at times - to really live in the presence with the fullness of our being as much as is possible, with the help of God’s grace. Now is the day of salvation. Now is the day of salvation.

Words of Jesus to Members of
Shepherds of Christ Associates:

"My beloved priest-companion, I intend to use the priestly newsletter, Shepherds of Christ, and the movement, Shepherds of Christ Associates, in a powerful way for the renewal of My Church and the world.

"I will use the newsletter and the chapters of Shepherds of Christ Associates as a powerful instrument for spreading devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart.

"I am calling many to become members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. To all of them I will give great blessings. I will use them as instruments to help bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. I will give great graces to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. I will call them to be deeply united to My Heart and to Mary's Heart as I lead them ever closer to My Father in the Holy Spirit."

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

Mary's Message
from the Rosary of August 27, 1996

Mary:  I stood beneath the cross of my Son, and my Heart was in such pain for I saw Him before my eyes. I saw Him covered with blood. I saw Him die. My Heart, my children, my Heart to watch my Son, but my Heart, my Heart, how I suffered for my little children of the world that give in to this world and give up the love of my Son. O my little children of light, I give you this message. Carry this light into the darkness for your Mother Mary, for I stood beneath the cross and I cried. I cried for the little ones. I cried for the young ones, the ones that do not care and will lose their souls. How do I make you see for you will not listen to me? What can I do? I come. I appear. I beg. I plead. I give you these gifts from my Son, and you reject me. I do not deliver messages very often anymore for I have been ignored. The message is the same. You do not read the messages I have given to you. Please help me. Help the little children. I appear. I appear. I appear, and I am ignored. I stood beneath the cross, and I cried. I cried, and my Heart was in such anguish for my little children, for I am searching for them this day as I searched for the Child Jesus. Please, please help me. I cannot hold back the hand of my Son any longer. I am Mary, your Mother. I ask you to help my children. You are my children of light.

Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15
Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15
Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts. - Cycle A (partial) — Homilies by the Reverend Joe Robinson given at St. Boniface Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a tremendous honor Fr. Joe has allowed us to share these great gifts with you – for greater holiness and knowing more and more about God. $10

Shepherds of Christ Prayer Manual. The Shepherds of Christ has prayer chapters all over the world praying for the priests, the Church and the world. These prayers that Father Carter compiled in the summer of 1994 began this worldwide network of prayer. Currently the prayers are in eight languages with the Church’s Imprimatur. We have prayed daily for the priests, the Church, and the world since 1994. Associates are called to join prayer Chapters and help us circulate the newsletter centered on spreading devotion to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and helping to renew the Church through greater holiness. Please form a Prayer Chapter & order a Prayer Manual.

Holy Spirit Novena Booklet. In four languages with the Imprimatur with 18 scripture readings for two complete novenas – this very powerful Holy Spirit Novena has prayers for prayers for Protection by the Blood of Jesus, Healing, Strength and Light, To Be One with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, One with Jesus, To Dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Prayer for the Holy Spirit and His Gifts, and the Word Alive in Our Hearts. All these prayers take about 10 minutes daily recited out loud. $1

Spirituality Handbook. Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. did 3 synopsis of the spiritual life. The Spirituality Handbook, the Priestly Newsletter 20he Tell My People book. The way of spiritual life proposed to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates is centered in consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. All aspects of the spiritual life discussed below should be viewed as means to help members develop their lives in consecration to Christ, the Sacred Heart, and to Mary, the Immaculate Heart. $3
Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ..." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
