                R. The Trinity is the most perfect
                    community –

Excerpt from Response to God's Love by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

... In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us briefly look at this inner life of God.

The Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent expression of God's fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise, from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in a perfect act of loving.

At the destined moment in human history, God's self-expression, the Word, immersed himself into man's world. God's inner self-expression now had also become God's outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself, about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through Christ.

                R. There must be a sense of
                    community in the Church –
                    in institutions –
                    growth with Christ the head!

                Ceremonies in the Church –
                    rituals are important –

                Coming together with the head
                    of the community, parish –
                    as a family in love
                    is very important for
                    unity and growth –

                God intends it this way!

Jesus gives Himself in the Eucharist.
Jesus is truly present in His Divinity
                    and humanity –

Baptism gives us a sharing in Divine Life.

The Word and the Eucharist are
                    the Bread of Life –

People who come to learn about
                    our community - must
feel a sense of community –
                    a welcoming of new members
                    a community that exists
                        with Christ the head –
                        in love and truth –

These are major components for growth –

                Jesus dedicated Himself in love
                    and sacrifice –
                    Jesus opens the way for
                    mankind to know
                    God – to know the
                    Father's plan for
                    eternal salvation –

We are to gather in unity and
                    love and truth – with
                    enthusiasm to praise and
                    love God and others –

The Church is to bring greater
                    knowledge of God to the
men and God is love –
                    the Church must be
                    centered in love –
the Church must be one –

We exist in this Movement to bring
                    a community of love –
to be an instrument of God
to pray for the priests and to
                    help renew the Church
                    and the world –

We are to help build man's community
life in love – in sharing in
                    God's vision – a priestly mission.

                Jesus gives us Himself –

The Mass is the Sacrifice of Calvary
                    sacramentally made present.

We are to worship God, with
others in the Spirit of truth!

We are bringing God the Father's
                    Plan to the people –
                    the message of Christ –
                    leading men to unity
                    in Christ, with each other.

Our religion is centered in God's love
for us. God has called us to be His children
and His friends – We have been given
a free will – we can open ourselves
to His life and His love. We were
created by God the Father, uniquely,
and with a purpose in His plan for
our salvation and the salvation of
others. We help as baptized Catholics,
in the work of redemption, as members
of the mystical body of Christ, by
uniting our lives every day to all
the Masses going on around the world.

The Mass is the sacrifice of
                Calvary, sacramentally made present.
We are to live in Him, asking the Holy Spirit
to form us more and more in the image
of Jesus. We have a free will – we
can follow God's plan or close
ourselves off from God's plan and
not do what He wants – we can
close ourselves to this love and life
                God wants to give us.

Whether we go to heaven or hell
depends on how we obeyed God,
lived according to His plan –
                cooperated with God's call
                and with His love –

                    Heaven is living with
                God our Father as children
                forever

                Again!

                    Heaven is living with God
                our Father as His children
                forever –
                enjoying being with Him and
                with one another –

                It is a love relationship
with God – being in the
                    beatific vision –
                    embraced by God –
                    seeing God face to face.

Our hearts are made for God –
                    nothing really satisfies
                    us here on earth!

                It is impossible to describe
                    joys of heaven – (joy
                    is something we must
                    experience – we cannot
                    tell a little child what
it is to love like a
husband and wife knows love) –

                Christ often compared heaven
to marriage – to a feast
of marriage and a banquet with a king.

                Matthew 25 – Read

Hell is just the opposite – it is
man without God – it is
                    man closed to God –
God gives us a free will –
God does not force us to love –|
                    God loves us –
God is not out to punish us –
                    We choose condemnation by
                        how we live –
We don't know who is in
                        hell –
                        we cannot judge!

                In hell selfishness
There are stories of people with stiff arms
and a banquet table and they can't
                        feed themselves
(every tear will be wiped away)
                        Heaven is everlasting life.

                    Second Coming – Final stage
                    Christ's return –
All men will recognize Him –
                    Now He is hidden
                    When?
                    Resurrection – we will have
                        new bodies –
                        Glorified bodies "like Christ"

The Source of life is Divine
there will be no weakness –
                    no sickness, no suffering
                    or death –

Matthew 25: 31-46

The Last Judgement

‘When the Son of man comes in his glory, escorted by all the angels, then he will take his seat on his throne of glory. All nations will be assembled before him and he will separate people one from another as the shepherd separates sheep from goats. He will place the sheep on his right hand and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right hand, "Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take as your heritage the kingdom prepared for you since the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you made me welcome, lacking clothes and you clothed me, sick and you visited me, in prison and you came to see me." Then the upright will say to him in reply, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and make you welcome, lacking clothes and clothe you? When did we find you sick or in prison and go to see you?" And the King will answer, "In truth I tell you, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me." Then he will say to those on his left hand, "Go away from me, with your curse upon you, to the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you never gave me food, I was thirsty and you never gave me anything to drink, I was a stranger and you never made me welcome, lacking clothes and you never clothed me, sick and in prison and you never visited me." Then it will be their turn to ask, "Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty, a stranger or lacking clothes, sick or in prison, and did not come to your help?" Then he will answer, "In truth I tell you, in so far as you neglected to do this to one of the least of these, you neglected to do it to me." And they will go away to eternal punishment, and the upright to eternal life.’

"Faith is, first of all, the belief
                    that there is absolute love
                    Beyond that the believer
                    need possess nothing else."

September 14, 2015 - Feast Exultation of the Cross

                R. I know His presence. Jesus
is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament.
Jesus comes to us in the Eucharist
Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity –
Jesus is the Divine Healer –
Jesus is on fire for love of us.
                We can pray tomorrow and
thank God for all the apparitions
of Mary – Mother of God –

                    Mary appeared daily
                From July 5, 1994 – September 5, 1995
                as the Sorrowful Mother at
Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center.

                R. On September 5, 2015 - Mary appeared
                to me in Clearwater and
I knew her presence – so
                very much with me, with
us, praying with us – every prayer.
It is hard to describe presence
and how close she was and
                my awareness of her being
                there the whole rosary –

                    Two messages were repeated
                and repeated from Jesus
                and Mary

                    "Focus on Jesus"

The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive
to the voice of your supplication.

What a gift that is – to know
                Mary's presence and to know,
no matter how messed up the
world may look, the Hearts of Jesus and
Mary are attentive to the voice of
                our supplication and They
said so – SO PRAY –

                Pray through the holy –
                    on fire Heart of Jesus
                    and pray with Mary –
                    they will listen –

                Mary says: the family,
                    community that prays
                    together stays together –

                Mary: (perfect handmaid of Jesus)
You must let go and focus
on Jesus, let go of impurities
                and admit your sins and
tell God you are sorry for
                your sins and you want
                to change those bad habits,
you want to be pure, you
need God's grace to love more
                and more like Jesus. Ask
                Jesus for this grace –
I am Mary and I love you
so very much. I am your
                Spiritual Mother – you must
be docile to the touch of
My Spouse the Holy Spirit –
You must let go of control
                and the grip satan wants
                on bad habits –

The Holy Spirit wants to fill
you and operate like the wind,
in your hearts, a warm breath
                moving you like a gentle
                breeze, moving you to
                greater holiness in the
                image of Jesus. Let go,
                my child, God loves you
and I am with you, I am
                your Spiritual Mother and
I love you, my child, I love
you. You can do so much for
                souls, but you must focus
on Jesus, don't be caved in
like satan wants you to be –
open up your heart – pray for
                purity – cooperate with the
                grace God gives you –
Listen to me – know I am
with you now – Jesus wants
to possess your soul, why do
you push Jesus, who loves you
so much, away for your bad
                habits? Anger you nurse
is a sin, my child, hugging
                anger and pinning it on
                an innocent other – trying
                to block good work your
                brother is doing and you
                should be united and
                helping and because of
a heart steeped in bad habits
of envy – and bad habits to
                act against them in punishments
                and sin, offends Jesus.
God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit
                love you and many choose
                evil ways of jealousy and
                pride, anger and envy.

                    Jesus wants union and people
loving and working as one –
                Because some stay isolated and
try to block union they are working
for satan when God the Father
                has desired this united strength
and they oppose His will –

Why do you not seek to
                please God with all your
                heart and all your soul
                and all your being?

                    Put aside jealous eyes
                and envious hearts - far
from you – your days are
                numbered aright!

What will you bring to the
                final judgment, my little
baby, pray to be holy –

                    Eyes steeped in division
                is loathsome, disgusting
                and unlike God – who
                commands you to love your
                brother as yourself –

                    When you are engaging
in your evil – you are not
                working for Jesus and then
the work God calls you to
                is not done –

                    Do you know sin is
not only in the sin you do,
                but in not doing the
                job God has called you
                to do and then engaging
in evil to tear things apart
                relationships in anger –

                    God knows every action
and the purity of the heart –
It is written in your book of life –
It will be read at your
                judgment –

                    Pray for goodness in
all your actions – to love
                the Father's will and to
serve God – to perform all
works you do in love for
                the building of the Kingdom.

Mary's Message
from the Rosary of August 27, 1996

Mary:  I stood beneath the cross of my Son, and my Heart was in such pain for I saw Him before my eyes. I saw Him covered with blood. I saw Him die. My Heart, my children, my Heart to watch my Son, but my Heart, my Heart, how I suffered for my little children of the world that give in to this world and give up the love of my Son. O my little children of light, I give you this message. Carry this light into the darkness for your Mother Mary, for I stood beneath the cross and I cried. I cried for the little ones. I cried for the young ones, the ones that do not care and will lose their souls. How do I make you see for you will not listen to me? What can I do? I come. I appear. I beg. I plead. I give you these gifts from my Son, and you reject me. I do not deliver messages very often anymore for I have been ignored. The message is the same. You do not read the messages I have given to you. Please help me. Help the little children. I appear. I appear. I appear, and I am ignored. I stood beneath the cross, and I cried. I cried, and my Heart was in such anguish for my little children, for I am searching for them this day as I searched for the Child Jesus. Please, please help me. I cannot hold back the hand of my Son any longer. I am Mary, your Mother. I ask you to help my children. You are my children of light.

end of Mary's Message

Mary: I am Mary on this Feast and
                    the Eve of My Sorrowful
                    Mother.

Ignore me no longer – the
                    Handmaids of the Good Shepherd
have been called by Jesus to call
                    people and ask for adorers
                    in China.

The job is a gift given
                by Jesus who is calling
                people to come in adoration
during the day – to be with
                Him – He wants this
                adoration there – He promises
great grace for them and their
                families –

He wants you to obey and do
                    it – you call yourself
a Handmaid of the Lord –

                A person is a handmaid
                    when they serve as they
                    are asked –

A person in control is rigid –
you are dependent on God –

                God is knocking on your
                    door –

                Mary: Call – Response

                    Call – Response

                    Call – Response

I ask you to meditate on
                    the Annunciation

I said "yes" to Jesus –

                I loved God's will

God the Father had the Plan
                    for me –

                God the Father
                    created you –
                    He has the plan for
                    you –

From the Priestly Newsletter Book III - 2000 Issue 3

The Father's Will for Us  - Our Source of Peace

Pope John Paul II instructs us: "The Church, as a reconciled and reconciling community, cannot forget that at the source of her gift and mission of reconciliation is the initiative, full of compassionate love and mercy, of that God who is love (see 1 John 4:8) and who out of love created human beings (see Wisdom 11:23-26; Genesis 1:27: Psalms 8:4-8)…He created them so that they might live in friendship with Him and in communion with one another.

"God is faithful to His eternal plan even when man, under the impulse of the evil one (see Wisdom 2:24) and carried away by his own pride, abuses the freedom given to him in order to love and generously seek what is good, and (instead) refuses to obey his Lord and Father. God is faithful even when man, instead of responding with love to God’s love, opposes Him and treats Him like a rival, deluding himself and relying on his own power, with the resulting break of relationship with the One who created him. In spite of this transgression on man’s part, God remains faithful in love.

"It is certainly true that the story of the Garden of Eden makes us think about the tragic consequences of rejecting the Father, which becomes evident in man’s inner disorder and in the breakdown of harmony between man and woman, brother and brother (see Genesis 3:12 ff; 4:1-16). Also significant is the Gospel parable of the two brothers (the parable of the ‘prodigal son’; see Luke 15:11-32) who, in different ways, distance themselves from their father and cause a rift between them. Refusal of God’s fatherly love and of His loving gifts is always at the root of humanity’s divisions.

"But we know that God…like the father in the parable (of the prodigal son), does not close His heart to any of His children. He waits for them, looks for them, goes to meet them at the place where the refusal of communion imprisons them in isolation and division. He calls them to gather about His table in the joy of the feast of forgiveness and reconciliation.

"This initiative on God’s part is made concrete and manifest in the redemptive act of Christ, which radiates through the world by means of the ministry of the Church." 13

Feast of the Holy Cross

Numbers 21: 4-9

They left Mount Hor by the road to the Sea of Suph, to skirt round Edom. On the way the people lost patience. They spoke against God and against Moses, ‘Why did you bring us out of Egypt to die in the desert? For there is neither food nor water here; we are sick of this meagre diet.’

At this, God sent fiery serpents among the people; their bite brought death to many in Israel. The people came and said to Moses, ‘We have sinned by speaking against Yahweh and against you. Intercede for us with Yahweh to save us from these serpents.’ Moses interceded for the people, and Yahweh replied, ‘Make a fiery serpent and raise it as a standard. Anyone who is bitten and looks at it will survive.’ Moses then made a serpent out of bronze and raised it as a standard, and anyone who was bitten by a serpent and looked at the bronze serpent survived.

The lessons of Israelite history

Psalm Of Asaph

My people, listen to my teaching,
pay attention to what I say.
I will speak to you in poetry,
unfold the mysteries of the past.

Whenever he slaughtered them, they began to seek him,
they turned back and looked eagerly for him,
recalling that God was their rock,
God the Most High, their redeemer.

They tried to hoodwink him with their mouths,
their tongues were deceitful towards him;
their hearts were not loyal to him,
they were not faithful to his covenant.

But in his compassion he forgave their guilt
instead of killing them,
time and again repressing his anger
instead of rousing his full wrath,

Philippians  2: 6-11

Who, being in the form of God,
did not count equality with God
something to be grasped.

But he emptied himself,
taking the form of a slave,
becoming as human beings are;
and being in every way
    like a human being,
he was humbler yet,
even to accepting death,
death on a cross.

And for this God raised him high,
and gave him the name
which is above all other names;

so that all beings
in the heavens, on earth
    and in the underworld,
should bend the knee
at the name of Jesus
and that every tongue should acknowledge
Jesus Christ as Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

John 3: 13-17

No one has gone up to heaven
    except the one
        who came down from heaven,
    the Son of man;
as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert,
so must the Son of man be lifted up
    so that everyone who believes
may have eternal life in him.
as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert,
so must the Son of man be lifted up
    so that everyone who believes
may have eternal life in him.
For this is how God loved the world:
    he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
        may not perish
    but may have eternal life.
For God sent his Son into the world
    not to judge the world,
    but so that through him
        the world might be saved.

Feast of the Holy Cross

September 14, 2008

INTRODUCTION – (Numbers 21:4b-9; Philippians 2:6-11; John 3:13-17) Our first reading takes us back over a thousand years before Christ, to the time when Moses was leading God’s people from slavery in Egypt to the freedom of the Promised Land. The trip through the desert was extremely difficult and at times the people complained bitterly. One of their difficulties was an encounter with a nest of poisonous serpents whose bite brought intense suffering and burning pain and then death. The serpents were called saraph serpents, for saraph means “fiery.” The people saw this as punishment for their complaining. But God gave them a way to be healed from the serpent’s bite. The remedy might remind us of the symbol often used today as an icon of the medical profession. In today’s gospel, Jesus compares this event to his crucifixion.

HOMILY – During Holy Week we focus on the sufferings of Christ crucified. Today our focus is more on the glory and victory of the cross. In Jesus’ day the cross was an instrument of torture, brutality and shame. The Romans reserved it for the worst criminals and enemies of the Roman Empire. If a criminal was a Roman citizen, he or she was exempt from crucifixion because it was such a terrible way to die. Roman citizens were simply beheaded. But Jesus has turned the cross into a symbol of victory, a symbol of hope, a symbol of sacrifice and infinite love. St. Paul tells us in Galatians (2:20) “I live by faith in the Son of God who has loved me and given himself up for me.”

Over and over the Scriptures tell us through the cross Jesus saved us, but early Christian art seldom pictured the cross. They didn’t need to. Father Foley in Saint of the Day said: “It stood outside too many city walls, decorated only with decaying corpses, as a threat to anyone who defied Rome’s authority.” Included in this group of those who defied Rome’s authority were the Christians who would not worship pagan gods, but only the Father, the Lord Jesus and the Spirit. The emperor Constantine who made Christianity legal in 313 also eliminated crucifixion as a form of capital punishment. Once the Roman Empire actually ceased crucifying art. These first images of the cross did not include an image of the suffering Christ, but they were crosses decorated with jewels and precious metals. Incidentally it was a vision of the cross that led to the conversion of Constantine. He was assured in the vision that in the sign of the cross he would conquer Maxentius, a rival to the throne, and he would become emperor of Rome.

Once Constantine gained control of the Roman Empire, he went to the Holy Land with his mother, St. Helen, to discover the places where Jesus lived and died. Constantine and his mother had churches built in Bethlehem and the Mount of Olives but the most famous church he built is the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, built over the hill of Calvary and the tomb of Jesus. It was in the process of building the Church of the Holy Sepulcher that Jesus’ cross was found. How did they know it was Jesus’ cross? Legend has it that the men working on this project found three crosses and they didn’t know which one was Jesus’ cross. They touched each of the crosses to a woman who was dying and when she was touched with the third cross, she was instantly healed. Today’s feast of the Holy Cross goes back to that time, around the year 320 AD. It celebrates the finding of the true cross and the dedication of the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher. So that’s why this feast is celebrated in the middle of September and not during Lent as we might expect.

Today’s gospel is sometimes called the gospel in miniature. These few verses express the essence of the entire gospel: God’s offer of eternal life through the sacrifice of Christ, a sacrifice offered out of love for us. God so loved the world, God so loved you and me that he gave us the greatest gift, the gift of his son, so we would know the greatest blessing: eternal happiness with him. Today we approach the cross not with sorrow but with joy, not as a symbol of death but of life, not as a sign of defeat but of victory, not as a cause for fear but of hope, not as an instrument of cruelty and hatred but of eternal love. On a practical level, I know somehow it was inevitable if Jesus were to be true to his mission. If he had run away from it, he would not have risen and his message would have soon been forgotten. Today Christians make up one third of the world’s population. If Jesus had abandoned his mission to change the world through love, perhaps some obscure history book might have had a sentence or two about this person who did a lot of healing and was a good preacher, but for the most part his ministry would be forgotten. This is just a superficial explanation of the mystery of the cross. There is much more to this mystery, but each of us has to discover it for ourselves. To come to a deeper understanding takes lots of prayer – and that’s what the Mass does for us each week, it reminds us of God’s love and the hope and joy and freedom and peace and salvation it gives us. Amen.
