Prayer for Grace for our Country

Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace, for our country, the United States. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray. We pray for our president and leaders. We pray that we are united as one nation under God to work together in love as God wants.

Isaiah 50: 5-9

Third song of the servant

Lord Yahweh has opened my ear 
and I have not resisted, 
I have not turned away. 
I have offered my back 
    to those who struck me, 
my cheeks to those 
    who plucked my beard; 
I have not turned my face away 
from insult and spitting. 
Lord Yahweh comes to my help, 
this is why insult has not touched me, 
this is why I have set my face like flint 
and know that I shall not 
    be put to shame. 
He who grants me saving justice is near! 
Who will bring a case against me? 
Let us appear in court together! 
Who has a case against me? 
Let him approach me!

James 2: 14-18

How does it help, my brothers, when someone who has never done a single good act claims to have faith? Will that faith bring salvation? If one of the brothers or one of the sisters is in need of clothes and has not enough food to live on, and one of you says to them, 'I wish you well; keep yourself warm and eat plenty,' without giving them these bare necessities of life, then what good is that? In the same way faith, if good deeds do not go with it, is quite dead.

    But someone may say: So you have faith and I have good deeds? Show me this faith of yours without deeds, then! It is by my deeds that I will show you my faith.

 

Psalm 116: 1-6, 8-9

Alleluia! I am filled with love when Yahweh listens
    to the sound of my prayer,
when he bends down to hear me,
    as I call.

Mark 8: 27-35

Jesus and his disciples left for the villages round Caesarea Philippi. On the way he put this question to  his disciples, 'Who do people say I am?' And they told him, 'John the Baptist, others Elijah, others again, one of the prophets.' 'But you,' he asked them, 'who do you say I am?' Peter spoke up and said to him, 'You are the Christ.' And he gave them strict orders not to tell anyone about him.

Then he began to teach them that the Son of man was destined to suffer grievously, and to be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and to be put to death, and after three days to rise again; and he said all this quite openly. Then, taking him aside, Peter tried to rebuke him. But, turning and seeing his disciples, he rebuked Peter and said to him, 'Get behind me, Satan! You are thinking not as God thinks, but as human beings do.'

He called the people and his disciples to him and said, 'If anyone wants to be a follower of mine, let him renounce himself and take up his cross and follow me. Anyone who wants to save his life will lose it; but anyone who loses his life for my sake, and for the sake of the gospel, will save it.

 

 


 

24th Sunday in Ordinary Time

September 13, 2015

INTRODUCTION – (Isaiah 50, 5-9; James 2, 14-18; Mark 8, 27-35) The book of the prophet Isaiah contains four poems commonly referred to as Servant Songs. They are mysterious passages because no one is sure whom they referred to originally. They describe one whom God had chosen before birth - not only to serve God and to serve God’s people in Israel, but to be a light for all of humanity. It’s amazing how perfectly these Servant Songs, written over 500 years before Christ, describe Jesus. Today’s passage describes how God’s Servant would encounter resistance, persecution and martyrdom, and how God would stand by him during all his trials. We hear this same passage again on Palm Sunday and on Wednesday of Holy Week. It was chosen for today because we hear in today’s gospel Jesus’ first prediction that suffering, death and resurrection are ahead for him.

HOMILY – A married lady went out shopping one day and when she returned home she brought with her a beautiful dress. She showed it to her husband who almost had a stroke when he heard how much it cost. She agreed with him that it was very expensive, but she said she tried it on and she looked so beautiful in it she couldn’t resist the temptation to buy it. Her husband told her you should have said: “get behind me, Satan.” She said that’s exactly what I said, and Satan said “you look fabulous from back here too!”

    When Jesus told Peter: “get behind me, Satan,” he wasn’t calling Peter a devil. He was saying that Peter was doing Satan’s job by trying to tempt Jesus away from following what Jesus knew was the Father’s will for him - to suffer and to die for the redemption of the world. The Jewish people knew an anointed leader was coming who would save God’s people. That anointed leader was called in Hebrew, Messiah and in Greek, the Christ. They expected, however, a powerful and glorious savior - not a suffering Messiah.

    Peter answered rightly that Jesus was the Messiah, the Christ, but he didn’t know about the suffering the Messiah would undergo. That’s why Jesus didn’t want the Apostles to tell anyone about him. They still had a lot to learn. Peter especially had to learn that Jesus was the Master and Teacher. Peter forgot he was Jesus’ follower when he called Jesus aside and started to instruct Jesus that he would not have to go through any suffering. Jesus literally put Peter back in his place when he said, “get behind me.” In other words, “you’re not in charge, Peter. I called you to follow me, not tell me what to do.”

    Then he announced to everyone, if they wanted to follow Jesus, they would have to be willing to lose their life for him. In doing so, they would gain the fullness of life that Jesus came to bring. Today’s gospel asks some very profound questions. It starts off asking “who is Jesus?” It ends up asking “who are you?” “Are you willing to give everything for Christ?” You will have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Amen.

                    manipulate and make things
                    comfortable for what

                    love of others as ourselves –

                God wants us to discipline
                    our unruly wills –

                How easy is that to just
                    think for yourself and
                    do what you want and
                    20 years later – you
                    never changed any bad habits
                    just got better at doing them –
                    better at making our way –
                    which is selfish and wrong –
                    the way we operate and try
                    to bring the house down
                    around us –

                    Discipline takes not
                giving into our unruly will
                and doing what God wants –
                Being obedient to those over us
                in just authority –

                God blesses us when we obey –
                He is watching every thing
                we do –

                God has a plan – we are
                to be seeking His plan and
                operating in faith – doing
                our part –

                To follow Jesus – means we
                seek the heavenly Father's
                will in all things and
                we discipline ourselves
                and do it.

                    We take up the cross like
                He did and we follow in
                His footsteps –

                    We walk in the Light –
                We walk in unity with others
                living by God's will –

                    The Holy Spirit works in us inspiring
                us, helping us work with others
                on the Father's Plan –

                    We are not independents,
                selfishly and unpredictably
                doing our own thing when
                we feel like it and our
                commitment is "willy,nilly" –

                A person walking in Jesus'
                footsteps is committed to
                God's Plan – Committed
                to their vocation –

                Seeing the big picture in
                the heavenly Father's Plan –
                and living with the goal
                to do God's Plan as He
                intends us to do –

                    God is working and we
                are co-operating in His
                grand design, being obedient
                to Him and working in love
                with our brothers –

                    We want to be like Christ –
                We read the scripture and
                walk as Jesus teaches us –
                God is in control and we
                give our wills and our
                lives to Him –

                    The commandments say
                God must be first in our
                lives. We live to know,
                love and serve God –
                We love our neighbors and
                we want what God wants
                for them –

                    We help each other in
                doing God's plan –

                    We are charitable,
                loving, caring, united,
                working on God's plan –
                seeking it –

                    We keep our arms up
                even in suffering – as
                Jesus did on the cross –

 

Exodus 17: 10-13

Joshua did as Moses had told him and went out to engage Amalek, while Moses, Aaron and Hur went up to the top of the hill. As long as Moses kept his arms raised, Israel had the advantage; when he let his arms fall, the advantage went to Amalek. But Moses’ arms grew heavy, so they took a stone and put it under him and on this he sat, with Aaron and Hur supporting his arms on each side. Thus his arms remained unwavering till sunset, and Joshua defeated Amalek, putting their people to the sword.

 

                R. We look to God the Father for
                    our plan –

                    We don't block God's plan
                for others in our lives so
                we can be independent
                and do what is familiar
                and wrong in our lives –

                    We are growing in the
                image and likeness of Jesus!!

 

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

    I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

    I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

    When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

The Our Father

Jesus: My child, I am here in all this muck. Yes, you are tried and I spit you out. You know Who has the power. You know whence you are coming. All life is indeed rooted in Me and from Me comes all that is. Do you comprehend this, My child? Do you know that no life is there without Me? People think they have power. Oh, they believe they are in charge. There is no power except through Me. If I choose to forget you, you cease to be. Cling to this power. Cling to Me as you follow the celebrity or the king or the Pope. I am God. I am One, I am True, I am Omnipotent, I am all that is. You must stay fixed to Me like glue, child.

Child, no life exists without Me. Turn your lives to Me, precious little ones. Turn over every minute, every second of every day. You think you have control of your life. You silly, silly children-what control? I make the stars shine, the sun shed its light, the moon light up the night. I make the baby in the womb, the trees grow, the animals live-and you say, "Oh, Yes, I can do all things." Little one, you can do no things unless I give you the power. You cease to be without Me. Oh, how silly you indeed are, little ones, to fret and fume and look for your answers. What are you doing? Live, child! I give you your answers in My times. All works as I have planned.

You and your willfulness! You mess things up and then come to pray. What is in your heads? Let your hearts be directed by My spirit. Come to Me first, every second. Then you never run amok, you do the right thing always. Pray, fast, look for My answers. Spend your time alone with Me, not in deliberation in your heads. Oh, ye children, what, what do you do to yourselves? I am here by your side. I am present truly in the tabernacle and you go to each other and ask your questions. When will you submit yourselves to the will of the father? Why do you wander in blindness in this barren desert?

Come to Me and I will give you rest. I will give you all you need, little ones. You are so silly. Power-you have none, child. You are powerless. You are willful. You must stay fixed to Me and My ways. Oh, oh how do I make you understand when you won't listen to Me? I speak, you don't listen. I love you so. I want you not to suffer your own dilemmas, but you turn your backs and ask your questions of those no smarter than you. Your wisdom comes from Me, the one, true God.

Come, little ones, My will for you is not a secret. You have to break the code. It is here. I make it known to you. "In the silence comes His word to the poor and lowly ones in pain." I am all you need, little blind, scared children. You need not be any of these things. Come to Me, beloved little ones, and I will set your toes on the right road. You will not falter. R. I want His life alive in me. I live to have a greater sharing in His life. I want Him, I long for Him, I love the secrets He reveals about Himself in great intimacies with Him. What is life? Life is not life if it is not rooted in Him. I want my life to be so intimately united to Him as I live and dwell in Him. In every act I perform, I wish a greater depth of living in Him. Every Mass and Communion brings me closer and closer to Him. I love the Mass so much.

Jesus: On this September 16, 1998, I ask you to come deeper and deeper into My Heart that you will know more and more the love I have for you. I ask you to pour out your hearts to Me. I ask you to give your hearts to Me and My Mother Mary so that I can help you more and more.

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

Mary: If you listen to me and obey me and the messages of my Son, Jesus, you will have a great victory.

Pray that the Blood of Jesus be spread on the earth.

My children, consecrate your Church and your world to Our Hearts.

R. And they heard the cries of the Sorrowful Lady and their lives changed, for they knew God spoke to them.

Oh, it was so simple to follow the Lady of Fatima's pleas and to listen to the Divine God, but the obstinance that the evil one created blocked the minds to see.

Mary: Oh, my children, please listen to me.

  

Exodus 7:8-13

Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, 'If Pharaoh says to you, "Display some marvel," you must say to Aaron, "Take your staff and throw it down in front of Pharaoh, and let it turn into a serpent!"' Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did as Yahweh had ordered. Aaron threw down his staff in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it turned into a serpent. Then Pharaoh in his turn called for the sages and sorcerers, and by their spells the magicians of Egypt did the same. Each threw his staff down and these turned into serpents. But Aaron's staff swallowed up theirs. Pharaoh, however, remained obstinate and, as Yahweh had foretold, refused to listen to Moses and Aaron.

Far worse is the mother that watches the children die a spiritual death.

 

2 Maccabees 7:1

It also happened that seven brothers were arrested with their mother. The king tried to force them to taste some pork, which the Law forbids, by torturing them with whips and scourges.

  

2 Maccabees 7:20-23

But the mother was especially admirable and worthy of honourable remembrance, for she watched the death of seven sons in the course of a single day, and bravely endured it because of her hopes in the Lord. Indeed she encouraged each of them in their ancestral tongue; filled with noble conviction, she reinforced her womanly argument with manly courage, saying to them, 'I do not know how you appeared in my womb; it was not I who endowed you with breath and life, I had not the shaping of your every part.
