Prayer for Grace for Election and Storms for our Country

Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace for this election, for our country, the United States. We pray for protection from this storm hurricane NOW. Please avert this storm away from our land. Please protect us. Dear Mary put your protective mantle on us now. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray.

Happy Feast of the Holy Rosary

Sorrowful Mysteries

                The Agony in the Garden

                (1) R. Despite all the suffering Jesus
                    would undergo in the Passion,
                    He knew those souls that
                    would cling to the darkness
and refuse to put God's will
                    first in their life.

                (2) R. And Mary begged and she
                    pleaded. She appeared in
                    Clearwater with this
                    message.

Mary's Message
from the Rosary of August 27, 1996

Mary:  I stood beneath the cross of my Son, and my Heart was in such pain for I saw Him before my eyes. I saw Him covered with blood. I saw Him die. My Heart, my children, my Heart to watch my Son, but my Heart, my Heart, how I suffered for my little children of the world that give in to this world and give up the love of my Son. O my little children of light, I give you this message. Carry this light into the darkness for your Mother Mary, for I stood beneath the cross and I cried. I cried for the little ones. I cried for the young ones, the ones that do not care and will lose their souls. How do I make you see for you will not listen to me? What can I do? I come. I appear. I beg. I plead. I give you these gifts from my Son, and you reject me. I do not deliver messages very often anymore for I have been ignored. The message is the same. You do not read the messages I have given to you. Please help me. Help the little children. I appear. I appear. I appear, and I am ignored. I stood beneath the cross, and I cried. I cried, and my Heart was in such anguish for my little children, for I am searching for them this day as I searched for the Child Jesus. Please, please help me. I cannot hold back the hand of my Son any longer. I am Mary, your Mother. I ask you to help my children. You are my children of light.

Excerpt from the Red Rosary Book

July 5, 1994 6:30 p.m.

R. I was told to go to Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center to pray the rosary with my children. There were people in the front of the church, so we decided to pray the rosary in the back before the Sorrowful Mother statue. I had the following vision at the end of the rosary.

The statue of the Sorrowful Mother was lit up as if she had fire around her. The light was very bright. Her whole gown was all-white, but the statue's gown is blue and pink. She was all aglow. It looked like the glow that comes off of a fire. Her face kept changing but remained totally sorrowful-the sorrow of an older woman. She was in such pain and sorrow! (It was hard to explain how she looked-extremely pained!) Her face looked as though she was in such pain that she could hardly bear it.

The vision remained like this for about ten minutes, having begun during the last Hail Mary of the Sorrowful Mysteries of the rosary. She was holding something-it was all bright white-the brightest light ever!

                (4) Message of October 5, 1995

Sorrowful Mother Statue at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center

Mary: I am Mary, your Mother. This is an urgent call to you at the Center and the Shepherds of Christ Movement. I have appeared as Our Lady of Light for 14 months daily at the Center. I have given to you special rosaries to be circulated among the youth and for all of your devout souls to be drawn closer to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. These rosaries are an important part of the fulfillment of Fatima.

I have called a special rosary on the 5th of each month in honor of the 5 wounds suffered by my Son and the 5 blasphemies suffered to my Immaculate Heart. I have called and called for all to follow the promises given at Fatima for those who honor my request to pray on the First Saturday of the month. I am calling out an urgent plea to answer my call. I have appeared from April 5th, until September 5th, at the Center, six appearances. The first rosary received in the Sorrowful Mother Chapel was March 17th, a very important rosary, received before the exposed Eucharist. I requested the rosary be prayed in the presence of the tabernacle. On March 21, 1995, a special rosary was prayed before the Pieta at the Shepherds of Christ meeting. Many of my children saw events at that rosary. On March 30, 1995, I came in a special way, the corner was filled with a tinted film and I was adorned in such light and alive. At this time I requested the rosary be prayed in the Sorrowful Mother Chapel. The rosary was prayed there for the Shepherds of Christ meetings and many nights. This continued for six months. On September 1st, I gave a very special rosary at 12:00 noon, Friday, a time my Son requested that the rosary be prayed at the Center. Rosaries were given on most Fridays at 12:00 noon. Very tender rosaries of my Son's special love for His beloved souls. I want published a book of these rosaries received on Friday at 12:00 noon. I want published the first book of rosaries with all the rosaries already discerned. In this book, you should include pictures of the windows in the Rosary Chapel, the love songs given from my Son, Jesus, the Seven Sorrows and the messages I have specified. The second book of rosaries should be all of the rosaries received during the Shepherds of Christ meetings. These rosaries from the Hearts of Jesus and Mary were given to teach chapter members about Our lives. They are to be spread to this world. They will lead the hearts of your members to my Heart and the Heart of my Son. A book should be published as soon as possible for rosaries for children. I have given many children's rosaries, and the early rosaries were given for children. These rosaries should be used in the Junior Shepherds of Christ Movement.

We have given to you thirteen books. Many answers to your problems are in these books. These books, God's Blue Book and Rosaries from the Hearts of Jesus and Mary are an important tool to draw souls back to the Church. My Son is so wounded by the indifference and neglect given to Him in the Eucharist.

The Center will light up this world, for many of my messages and my Son's messages were received there. The rosaries were received at the Center. The hearts of many will be filled with the love of God when you circulate these rosaries.

I call out to you. I will continue to come on the 5th of each month. The time was changed at Our Lady of the Woods for I have requested that the rosary be prayed close to 6:30 p.m.

Your Center will remain divided. The funds will come when these rosaries and love letters are circulated.

The funds for the Shepherds of Christ will come when you circulate and publish the books and tapes. I have given to you information about these books. My Son has requested a book of messages given after the daily Masses. These messages will lead many to a deep union with God during the Mass.

You are given great gifts in these messages. Satan has confused and tried to stop these messages. These messages need to circulate. They will lead many to God. I beg you with my motherly Heart to please listen to me. Today is a special day, this October 5th. This is my message to all, to help circulate these messages. Pray earnestly for their circulation and publication. Pray for the funds to help you circulate the books and tapes. The tapes will help many in hospitals, nursing homes. Pray for the funding and it will come.

Many other messengers will come to confuse the importance of these messages. SATAN wants these messages stopped. When they are circulated, my Son will unite deeper and deeper in such oneness with many hearts. These will be the soldiers that will carry His love to this world. Unless these messages of His love are transmitted in the Church, the Church will continue to suffer.

I beg you to listen. I am Mary, your Mother. Many of my little children will go to hell. You hold personal messages from Our Hearts and Rosaries from the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

I am Mary, your Mother, and thank you for responding to my request.

                (5) Message from October 5, 1996, Apostles Manual

Mary: I am Our Lady of the Rosary. The Fatima message will unfold around the Shepherds of Christ Movement. I am begging you, please, publish these Rosaries from the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. I appeared daily for 14 months and delivered rosaries for the world. Why have these rosaries been held back from this world? Souls are dropping into hell. Do you comprehend the importance of these rosaries to the Fatima message?

I have appeared as Our Lady of Light and Our Lady of Sorrows delivering these rosaries.

I am now delivering this message as Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.

A great mission I give to you, my beloved apostles in the Shepherds of Christ Movement is to live these rosaries and spread the messages to the world. You must reach the world with these teachings I am giving in the rosary.

On this October 5, 1996, I beg you as your heavenly Mother to not ignore the importance of these rosaries. I have appeared, I have begged, I have warned you. I cannot hold back the hand of my Son any longer. His hand is struck with power.

Today is the 5th of the month, first Saturday. I beg all to study this message and to tell all that come on October 13th, 1996 the importance of these live rosaries and the completion of the Fatima message.

I am Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. This is the key to watching the Movement spread. I am assisting you in publishing and circulating these rosaries. Anyone who stops the rosary messages and meditations will deal with my Son, Jesus!

Souls are at stake and souls have been lost because of the delays to hold back the messages in God's Blue Book and Rosaries from the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Any negative references in the Movement to these messages displeases my Son for you have been given the greatest gifts in these revelations. I am asking all to help in the circulation of these rosaries and messages. We are communicating to the world majorly in these messages. The completion of the Fatima message is greatly dependent on these messages. Do not give into Satan any longer to block these messages. You are dealing with my Son, Jesus. This is a great gift given to the world. It would please my Son greatly if you expressed to Him your great thanks for the gifts He has given to you. Your answers are found in these messages. They must be studied and recognized for the great gift they are. You were chosen by God to deliver this message to the world. The ingratitude of many displeases my Son greatly. It is now time for the leaders of the Movement and all apostles to support these messages. It is now time to study the content in its entirety. You are missing the key directions because you do not even read the messages.

I am Mary, your Mother. You will be rewarded with the funds needed when you publish these messages and rosaries.

                (6) R. But the obstinacy of the
Pharaoh at the time of Moses
                    is made clear in the
                    scripture.

                (7) R. The 10 Plagues
                    River of blood
                    Frogs
                    Mosquitoes
                    Horseflies
                    death of the Egyptians' livestock
                    boils
                    hail
                    locusts
                    darkness and
death of the first-born by the Angel of Death.

                (8) R. And Jesus sweat Blood in
                    the Garden.
                    His greatest suffering was
                    not from the wounds of
                    His own body but from
the wounds to His Sacred Heart.
After all He did to give of Himself
                    and those in darkness to
                    continue their evil and not
                    change to do God's will
                    because of their stubbornness
to cling to division and anger
                    and punishment and darkness –
                    to make their power-over
                    God their god.

                (9) Jesus: Hard hearts, blindness,
                    wanting to seek evil and
                    not love and goodness –
man has a free will –

                (10) Jesus: I am a just judge –
                    I will judge justly
                    for what they did in
                    their lives.
I command you to put God
first – to love God with
                    your whole heart, your
                    whole soul, your whole
                    being and love your neighbor
                    as yourself.

You have a free will to
                    put your hatred and lies
                    before truth.

                The Scourging at the Pillar

                (1) Jesus: Satan lied to Eve in the
                    Garden and Adam and
                    Eve sinned and they were
                    cast from the Garden
                    of Paradise.

                (2) Jesus: My Heart is full of love –
My Heart is soft and supple –
I gave to My death on the
                        cross –

                (3) Jesus: I gave My life in love for
                    you –

                (4) Jesus: The Father created you
                    in love –
He loved you into existence –

                (5) Jesus: I call you to live your life in
love; building the Kingdom of God.

                (6) Jesus: I paid a precious price
                    for your sins.

                (7) Jesus: I was whipped at the pillar
                    for your sins –

                (8) Jesus: Satan will go to hell eternally.

                (9) Jesus: Satan is envious of men
                    who can ask for
                    forgiveness and
                    change their lives.

                (10) Jesus: Satan wants hatred and
                    division and anger
                    and punishment for
                    the innocent – Satan
                    uses people to hurt
                    others and they give in.

                The Crowning with Thorns

                (1) Jesus: Stubbornness – they
                    pounded thorns into My
                    Head for those who
                    cling to darkness and
                    punish others with
                    their hateful hearts –

                (2) Jesus: I am forgiving and merciful,
                    but the man who does
                    not want to change can
                    cling to his hatred with
                    his free will –

                (3) Jesus: They pounded thorns into
                    My Head for the
                    deception of those
                    who lied and hated.

                (4) Jesus: Blood came from My precious
                    head –
Blood for the lies of those
                    who scorn Me.

                (5) Jesus: I am a God of justice –

                (6) Jesus: I am absolute truth.

                (7) Jesus: I am love.

                (8) Jesus: I am meek and tender of
                    heart.

                (9) Jesus: I gave My life so the
                    sinner could repent
                    and be forgiven.

                (10) Jesus: Darkness is darkness –
In Me there is not a
                    speck of darkness.

                The Carrying of the Cross

                (1) R. Jesus carried the heavy cross
                    laden with the sins
                    of pride and anger
                    and envy and slothfulness.

                (2) R. The Son of God - look at Him –
                    meditate now on how He
                    carried the cross for our
                    sins.

                (3) R. The devil tells people to think
the sins they did were right
so some stay in sin when
God hates the sin, but loves
                    the sinner.

                (4) R. We see the obstinacies of
                    Pharaoh at the time of
                    Moses.

                (5) R. And Pharaoh went into
                    the sea.

                (6) R. He was so obstinate.
                    10 plagues
                    He wouldn't budge –
                    He was fighting God.

                (7) R. How can a man become so
                    hard in their heart,
                    they fight God and
                    can condemn themselves
                    to everlasting darkness.

                (8) R. Look at Jesus carry the cross.

                (9) R. Look at His suffering –
                    He fell under the cross
                    and got up 3 times.

                (10) Jesus said
                    "Weep not for Me but
                        for yourself and your children."

                The Crucifixion

                (1) August 23, 1993 - On His Passion

Jesus: My dear child,

I was condemned to death, death on a cross. They gave Me a big cross and made Me carry it. They stood around and glared at Me. It weighed on My shoulder and I pulled at it until it finally moved. Every step was almost impossible as I dragged it, weighing so heavily on My shoulders.

My shoulder felt as if the bones inside would crack and the cross would fall through to the ground. I couldn’t drag it any more. I tried, I fell. I fell and its weight fell on Me. A guard hit Me with something sharp. It really hurt because he wanted Me to move, and fast! People were watching — on with the show! How dare I fall in the middle of the show! He hit Me again and the blow really stung Me. I got up because it hurt so badly. I tried to walk on.

My Mother was in the crowd. She looked at Me and her face looked red and hurt. Tears rolled down her cheeks like rain and as her eyes met Mine, I was hurt so by her sorrow! She was always by My side, silent and loving. She was My Mother of love! She is always there next to you when you suffer.

I fell again and he (the guard) really hit Me. It (the cross) was so heavy that he and I together could barely move it. It seemed as I walked, heavier with the sins of the world heaped on it. My hands were bleeding. Blood ran from the wounds of My thorns and My head throbbed, seeming to make the wounds in My head bleed even more. Some of the Blood was dried, some of it running all over My Body. I had so many cuts and bruises — and people watched and laughed!

I am Jesus, Son of the Living God, and they laughed and mimicked Me! Oh, such hardened hearts! How vile can men’s hearts become? The devil’s grip is paralyzing and crippling.

The walk was so long up a hill and over rocks — the cross had to be lifted over the rocks. My Body was bleeding so badly! My Heart was pounding. I knew that the salvation of all men depended on My love. Therefore, I went through such agony.

I thought of My intense love for you — that many would go to heaven because of My suffering — and I continued to the top of the hill. At the top they laid Me on the cross and with a big hammer nailed My hands to it. It was the worst (suffering) yet. My hands were nailed with big nails and the big hammer. Then, as if that weren’t enough, with a big nail they nailed through both feet.

Then they lifted the cross and banged it into (a hole in) the ground. My shoulders ached from how I hung. My head bobbed and My neck ached and they laughed and said, "Now save Yourself." I hurt so much! I suffered this way for hours — which seemed like forever — and they glared at Me and laughed! My Mother watched in such agony.

For love of you, to My death I gave you My Body. My child, I shed My Blood and gave you My life that you might be with Me forever in heaven — not for a day, a month or a year, but forever with Me in heaven.

I am the true Bread come down from heaven. He who eats My Flesh will have life forever. For the drink I give you is My Blood and food you eat is My Body. Who would lay down his life for a friend? I did, for you. I love you this much, child. Forget about those who reject you. You have My life that I gave you and I give you life eternal.

I am the One true God. I am the Light of life. He who abides in Me will have life eternal, for the drink I give is My Blood and the food I give is My Body. Drink and eat and have everlasting life.

My child, that is all you need to know. Love one another and be good that you may enter into My Kingdom.

                (2) Stations of the Cross - February 22, 1995

1. Jesus Is Condemned to Death

Jesus:  My dear child, with angry hearts and hatred on their faces, they poked at Me and condemned Me to death. I stood so silent, My hands tied, in perfect peace, because I knew the Father's love. I knew the Father's Will. You too will stand your trials in perfect peace, the more you realize the immense love the Father, Son and Holy Spirit have for you. Pray to the Spirit to transform you more and more into My image and, through this transformation, you will be led ever closer to the Father. Oh, how I love you!

2. They Give Jesus the Cross

Jesus:  They gave Me a heavy cross, laden with the sins of the world. They placed it on My shoulder. It was so heavy I felt as if My shoulder would break. I ask you to carry little crosses, to experience little pains. I could not remove this cross from My shoulder. The weight was unbearable. It is through My suffering and death that you receive new life. It is through your sufferings this day that you will grow in your life with Me. Oh, child, I loved you so much that I took up the cross of salvation. I love you. Please realize that I am talking to you here. To My death I loved you. Oh, how I love you!

3. Jesus Falls the First Time

Jesus: The cross was so heavy I could hardly walk. I held on to My cross for greatest love of you and in compliance with the Will of My Father. It became so hard to walk! The cross was so heavy! I fell. I fell and the cross fell on Me. They poked at Me, they struck Me, they demanded I get up. The pain from the instruments they used to poke Me and strike Me was so great! I somehow managed to get up.

When you fall under the weight of your cross, come to My Eucharistic Heart. I am no less present in the tabernacle and in the Eucharist than on the day I carried My cross. I wait with the same love that I had for you when I carried this cross and suffered such agony. Oh, how I love you!

4. Jesus and Mary Meet

Jesus: I saw the face of My beautiful Mother. She was weak, her face reddened and full of tears. I saw her tender heart, her love, her anguish, her pain. I saw My dear Mother Mary. My Heart was comforted by the sight of her, but torn by her suffering.

Mary: As I looked into the eyes of my beloved Son, I saw His love. His head, bleeding and wounded. His body weak. His clothes covered with blood. I looked into His eyes and I saw His love for you. I call out to you today. I appear today with a face full of anguish and tears. I appear to call you back to the love of my Son. See through my eyes, as I peer into His eyes, the love He has for you this day to give of Himself for you. Oh, He loves you so much, my little children. See through my eyes the love of my Son. Oh, how He loves you!

5. Simon of Cyrene Is Forced to Help Jesus Carry His Cross

Jesus: The cross was so heavy I could not move. My persecutors became angry and forced a man to help Me. The cross was so heavy the two of us could barely move it. How is your cross today? Does it seem so heavy you cannot go on? I am forever watching you. When you are suffering the greatest, I am very close to you. It is in immense suffering that you realize My great love for you. Pray for grace to do always the Father's Will. Pray for grace to grow in your knowledge and love of Me.

6. Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus

Jesus: My face was covered with blood. From the crowd Veronica came forward with a cloth to wipe My face. On the cloth I gave to you an imprint of My bloodied face. This, My children, remains with you this day as a sign of My immense love for you. But more than any cloth, look beyond the visible consecrated host. I, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, remain with you, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, in the Eucharist this day, waiting and longing to be with you. Oh, how I love you!

                (5) Stations of the Cross - February 22, 1995 continues

7. Jesus Falls the Second Time

Jesus: Oh, dear ones, the road became harder and harder to walk. The cross was becoming heavier, My body weaker and weaker. My shoulders and arms hurt so much! My head throbbed as I walked. The blood came from My body, from My head to My feet. I was covered with open wounds. I could not go any farther. I stumbled and fell. Again they poked at Me, only harder, and with such hatred they kicked Me. Such vileness in the hearts of men! My greatest agony was not the agonies of My body, but the agonies of My heart for the love I have for all My precious souls. I loved them so dearly. I loved those who persecuted Me. Oh, how I love you!

8. Jesus Meets the Women of Jerusalem

Jesus: The women came to Me with their children, their tender hearts crying and wanting to comfort Me. I saw their love, their care. I saw the coldness of men's hearts for all time, the hatred, the anger, the sins, all the souls that, despite all of My sufferings and death, would be condemned to eternal damnation. I told the women to weep not for Me, but for themselves and their children. My greatest agonies were the agonies of My Most Sacred Heart. Oh, how I love you!

                (6) Stations of the Cross - February 22, 1995 continues

9. Jesus Falls the Third Time

Jesus: I fell hard the third time. I was so weakened I could not go on. My body collapsed under the cross from such exhaustion! My child, My child, My greatest agonies were not the wounds to the body. They were the wounds I experienced to My heart. Do you know a little more now how I love you? It is in meditating on My Passion and death that you will realize My immense love for you. When you fall, when you struggle, I give you the grace to get up. I never give you more than you can handle. Your strength will come from Me. Come to My Eucharistic Heart. I am waiting for you this day. Oh, how I love you!

10. Jesus Is Stripped of His Garments

Jesus: They took Me to the hill to crucify Me. They angrily stripped Me of My garments. They took off My clothes to whip Me. They had covered My bloody wounds with a dirty purple robe. Now, total surrender-they took off My clothes. I showed you the way to surrender, always complying with the Will of the Father. It is in living in His Will that you will have peace and joy, and life eternal some day. Oh, how I love you!

11. They Nail Him to the Cross

R. See Mary as she holds the little Baby Jesus. See her as she washes His tender hands and feet. See her now as she watches as they pound into those same hands and feet the gigantic nails that fix Jesus to the cross.

Mary:
Oh, my dear ones, my heart was torn in my chest as they nailed His hands and feet to the cross. I ask you this day to walk the Passion with me and see through my eyes the love He has for you. He truly was nailed to the cross.

Jesus:
They pounded the nails into My first hand, then they stretched My body and nailed My other hand. The blood poured from these wounds that went totally through My hands. My pain was so immense, but then they nailed My feet! You do not know what pain I suffered, My child. My children, My children, for each one of you I suffered this pain. Oh, how I loved you!

12. Jesus Dies on the Cross

(Silence.)

R.
He hung for three agonizing hours on the cross against the darkened sky. His greatest agonies were not the agonies of His body, but those of His Heart for the great love He has for each and every soul.

Jesus:
I gave Myself to you, My dear ones. I gave My all. I hung with My arms spread in total surrender. My head was punctured; My hands and feet were nailed to the cross. I gave Myself to you. I give Myself to you this day in the Eucharist. I give Myself to you. I, God, give you Myself! What more do you want?

Song:
Oh, burning Heart, oh, Love divine, etc.

R.
They pierced His Heart with a lance and what flowed forth was blood and water, the sacramental life of the Church, water for Baptism and blood for the Eucharist. His life, death and resurrection live on in the Church this day.

13. Jesus Is Taken Down from the Cross and Placed in the Arms of His Mother

R. His totally lifeless body was placed in the arms of His most loving Mother. As she had held the little baby body in her arms, she now received His bloodied, bruised body in her arms. This is how He obeyed the Father's Will. Jesus gave His life for us. The Father gave His only Son because He loves us so much. Mary, His Mother, our Mother and the Mother of the Church, is forever by His side. See Jesus in the arms of His loving Mother under the cross. This is love.

Mary:
I held His lifeless body in my arms. See through my eyes the love He has for you this day. He gives Himself to you today in the Eucharist. He loves you so much!

14. Jesus Is Locked in the Tomb

R. His enemies rolled the stone up to the tomb and were pleased to have buried Jesus. Mary, outside the tomb, wept bitterly. The cold reality that He was dead! But death has no power over Jesus for on the third day He rose, triumphant, from the tomb! We are partakers in His divine life. Death has no power over Jesus. He is with us this day. He comes to bring us life to the full. He loves us so much!

Galatians 3: 7-14

Be sure, then, that it is people of faith who are the children of Abraham. And it was because scripture foresaw that God would give saving justice to the gentiles through faith, that it announced the future gospel to Abraham in the words: All nations will be blessed in you. So it is people of faith who receive the same blessing as Abraham, the man of faith.

On the other hand, all those who depend on the works of the Law are under a curse, since scripture says: Accursed be he who does not make what is written in the book of the Law effective, by putting it into practice. Now it is obvious that nobody is reckoned as upright in God's sight by the Law, since the upright will live through faith; and the Law is based not on faith but on the principle, whoever complies with it will find life in it. Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by being cursed for our sake since scripture says: Anyone hanged is accursed, so that the blessing of Abraham might come to the gentiles in Christ Jesus, and so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

Psalm 111: 1-6

I give thanks to Yahweh with all my heart,
in the meeting–place of honest people, in the assembly.
Great are the deeds of Yahweh,
to be pondered by all who delight in them.

Full of splendour and majesty his work,
his saving justice stands firm for ever.
He gives us a memorial of his great deeds;
Yahweh is mercy and tenderness.

He gives food to those who fear him,
he keeps his covenant ever in mind.
His works show his people his power
in giving them the birthright of the nations.

Luke 11: 15-26

But some of them said, ‘It is through Beelzebul, the prince of devils, that he drives devils out.’ Others asked him, as a test, for a sign from heaven; but, knowing what they were thinking, he said to them, ‘Any kingdom which is divided against itself is heading for ruin, and house collapses against house. So, too, with Satan: if he is divided against himself, how can his kingdom last?—since you claim that it is through Beelzebul that I drive devils out. Now if it is through Beelzebul that I drive devils out, through whom do your own sons drive them out? They shall be your judges, then. But if it is through the finger of God that I drive devils out, then the kingdom of God has indeed caught you unawares. So long as a strong man fully armed guards his own home, his goods are undisturbed; but when someone stronger than himself attacks and defeats him, the stronger man takes away all the weapons he relied on and shares out his spoil.

‘Anyone who is not with me is against me; and anyone who does not gather in with me throws away.

'When an unclean spirit goes out of someone it wanders through waterless country looking for a place to rest, and not finding one it says, "I will go back to the home I came from." But on arrival, finding it swept and tidied, it then goes off and brings seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and set up house there, and so that person ends up worse off than before.'

Jesus: Some people have suffered abuse,
                but seek healing and as
                wounded healers help lots of
                people.

                R. Dear Jesus help me please
deal with this cross to do
Your will always and to help
others to live in peace with
                You.

Help us, I spread Your blood
on all of us and ask for
                Your help, Jesus, I cast
the devil into hell and ask for
a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit
                and consecrate all of our
                hearts to Jesus and Mary.

We know God gives us great
gifts of His love in this
Movement, but we see the price
                Jesus paid for our sins.

Why do we not see that
even as Jesus was taken to
the temple as a baby –
Mary had to suffer in the
                Presentation of the Temple –

                Death/Resurrection –

And Mary said:

My soul proclaims

Yes, from now onwards
all generations will call me blessed,

has done great things for me.
Holy is his name,

He has used the power of his arm,

Work for Renewal

Jesus:   My dear child,

...The time is set, you will be fired at My child. You will be tested, you will be tried, you will experience such great union and trust in Me. Nothing can rock you when your heart is forever joined to  My Heart. You will have strength. It will come from your constant resting in Our Hearts.

You must be strong, know that obstacles will be many, but I am allowing them for greater union with Me. Know that you will be so steadfast in My love that you will be able to do this work and withstand any trial. Give this letter to Fr. Carter. This pertains to all who are involved in this Movement. Your strength is from the Lord. You must go to the tabernacle for your supplies.
You must stay strong to give help to those around you.

It is the fire of My love that will sustain you. You are My precious children. I am forever loving you and giving you such grace and love. I never go from you. This Movement is so important to the renewal of My Church. You must bind together with one goal to spread devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. This is your goal, surrender to Me, be one with Me, let Me operate you. The Church is one body, you need to stay so united. Do not talk about or think any ill thoughts about each other, that is satan to divide you. Pray to My Mother, she mothers you, she mothers the Church. She is with you always.

The renewal of My Church will majorly come through the Shepherds of Christ Movement. You do not see My plan, it is too big for you to comprehend. You must stay steadfast in My Eucharistic Heart. You will be tried, the devil wants to stop you. It takes the Power of the Almighty God to do this work. You cannot do it without My Power, without My love. Circulate the letters of My love. I will give abundant graces to all who read My messages. I will draw the hearts who read these messages ever closer to My Sacred Heart. The power is in the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. I am forever on fire for love of My precious souls. Read this message often, you will need the strength it will give you. I am forever by your side. Satan drags you down, the Spirit builds you up. You do not have time for satan's tactics. Focus only on the job at hand, you have much work to do.

    I love you so much.
I am Jesus your beloved Savior,
I died for you and I rose triumphant on the third day.
Death has no power over Me.

My Power is endless, My love unbounded. I come to you with greatest love, this day, for you My beloved soldiers, battling a fight for My love. It is through your efforts My love will reign in the hearts of men in this world.

Pray the Prayer for Union with Me.

Jesus speaks: "This is the picture I want in My messages. When you read these messages, look at My picture and know I love you. These messages are My words of love for each of you."

- Jesus to Rita Ring

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

    I LOVE YOU

                Love
                    Jesus

January 25, 1995 - Wednesday

I Am Mighty

Jesus: My work takes the Power of the Almighty God. You must surrender and be selfless. This is not a little task, you are marching on a world that has become deeply rooted in evil. Can you with your own might dig up these deep roots that are strong and thick? Only through the power of My Eucharistic Heart will you up-root this evil. It is through the heart of My beloved Mother you will carry My endless burning love to this world.

Love is kind, love is rooted in My Heart. Your world has turned cold, many men's hearts are rooted in evil. Can you Can you do this with your human minds? Can you see clearly as I see the hearts of men, do you see the events past and present, you see only as I allow you to see the big picture. From all time I see, I see heaven, I see the souls that will be lost to eternal damnation, I see the hearts of men, I know deeply their motive, you see with feeble minds, but you attempt to know all things. You need My Vision, you need to see with My Vision. You see as I impart to you My Vision. You must be so rooted in My ways that it is no longer you who act, but I who am acting through you.

Little men, with little minds, I am the Almighty God, when will you learn that you must surrender to Me and allow Me to do this work.

You stumble, you falter, you fall, you are backing yourself into walls. I can knock down walls, I am Mighty, I am all Powerful, you cannot do this work on your own. You must be so rooted in Me that it is God who is acting through you.

Surrender, let go, you hold on so tight, you in your wills think that you can do so much, I can do anything. Let go My little ones, come for your supplies, be connected to My Eucharistic Heart. You will only see the big picture as I impart to you My vision. Your human mind cannot see the big picture. Let go, I have all the Power, I have all the Might, I am the Almighty God. Surrender, Surrender. Pray the prayer for Union with Me. Become one in Me. I want to operate you, I need your surrender. Pray to the Spirit and watch Him move in your hearts.

R.  The mind of man cannot ever see with the vision of God, unless He gives them His vision.

I am so limited in everything I do, He is Almighty, I love a little, He gives us His all, I must constantly study His ways to be more and more like Him.

Spirit transform my heart, more and more into the image of Jesus. Spirit move in me to lead me closer and closer into the image of Jesus.

The more we call on the Spirit, the more we are transformed. The Spirit descended on the apostles. The Spirit is action.

    The Spirit is Divine Power.

O Holy Spirit, impart to us the vision of God. The Spirit transforms us from blindness into vision.

Where we are blind, we can now see more and more as the Spirit imparts to us His Vision.

We are raised to such heights in Him.

Come Holy Spirit fill us with the fire of Your love, give us Your Vision.

Oh my Dear God!! I love you.

We are all blind, many of us do not see that Jesus is truly the Son of God.

Many do not realize the great gifts we are given in baptism, Holy Spirit come and give us your gifts
Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord.

Set us ablaze with the FIRE of your DIVINE LOVE, BURNING.
    GOD IS MIGHTY.
    God live deeply in us!

Excerpts from Mother at Our Side, by Father Edward Carter, S.J.

Prayer

He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart. (Lk. 2:51).

"…and his mother kept all these things in her heart." In other words, Mary prayed over all these things. Mary was a person of deep prayer. How could it be otherwise? The greatness of her grace-life gave Mary an intense and constant desire to communicate with God. Her prayer, focused on Jesus, ascended to the Father in the Holy Spirit.

Mary wants all her children to follow her example. She wants us to be persons of consistent and fervent prayer. How she has insisted on prayer in her various apparitions over the years! Time and time again she has emphasized the necessity and power of prayer. Prayer is essential to our life. It is a dialogue with God.

The Basic Nature of Christian Prayer

Prayer is becoming aware in a special way of our relationship with God and of all that this relationship includes. It is an awareness of God being present to us and we to Him–a presence permeated with love. Prayer is being aware of the all-loving God, and how His love for us is always calling us to a closer union with Him. In prayer, then, we are especially aware of God's love for us and of what our love for Him should be.

Sometimes we become keenly aware that God's love is calling us in a very special way. We realize, despite a certain fear of what may be involved, of the necessity to respond.

This thought can lead us to another characteristic of prayer–the need to be open before God. Whatever He asks of us, we must give Him; wherever He leads us, we must follow. Our dearest Mother Mary gives us a perfect example. Regarding the Annunciation scene, Scripture tells us: Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." Then the angel departed from her. (Lk. 1:38).

Prayer must also be centered in Christ. Again Scripture speaks to us: In times past, God spoke in partial and various ways to our ancestors through the prophets; in these last days, he spoke to us through a son, whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created the universe... (Heb. 1:1-2).

Whatever the Father wishes to tell us in prayer, therefore, is in some way contained in Christ. It is our privilege and responsibility to have Christ at the center of our prayer. As we pray with our attention focused on Christ under the transforming influence of the Holy Spirit and Mary, we come ever closer to the Father.

In prayer, the teaching and example of Jesus increasingly penetrate into the depths of our being. The light of prayer shows us that following Christ's teaching and example assimilates us more and more to Jesus. We grow in the desire to come ever closer to His Heart.

The surest way to grow in union with the Heart of Christ is to dwell within the Immaculate Heart. As we pray, then, let us dwell in the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Heart of Christ. Here we experience love, peace, joy, confidence, and warmth. Yes, Jesus and Mary bid us to pray within Their Hearts. Who can refuse Their invitation?

Prayer Methods

There are various methods of prayer available to us. While not giving an exhaustive list, let us consider some of these. A very fundamental method is simply to talk to God about my life here and now–a life which is a mixture of pain and joy. I can tell Him about my successes, my failures, my frustrations, my joys, my temptations, of that which makes me laugh, of that which makes me cry. In other words, I can discuss anything and everything about my life. I do all of this in a spirit of prayer as I ask God for the light to see how I can serve Him better amid all diverse aspects of my life. I also prayerfully ask for the strength to act according to the enlightenment He graciously grants me.

Another method of prayer involves the direct reading of Scripture–especially the Gospels. I read a verse or two, pause, and prayerfully reflect on how the Holy Spirit desires for me to incorporate this passage into my Christian existence. When I feel satisfied, I read on and pause and reflect as before. I should always remain with a passage as long as I feel I am drawn to do so. At times one passage can serve an entire period of prayer.

Another way to pray is to consider a scene from Christ's life, passion and death, or resurrection. As I present the scene to myself, I observe the persons involved. I consider their words and actions. I ask myself, in the presence of the Lord, how I can incorporate the lessons from this scene of the Christ-event into my own Christian existence.

Another excellent method of prayer which flows very directly from that just mentioned is the rosary. In its own way, the rosary leads us through the Christ event–the life, death, resurrection of Jesus. Pope Paul VI has stated:

"As a Gospel prayer, centered in the mystery of the redemptive Incarnation, the Rosary is therefore a prayer with a clearly Christological orientation. . . The Jesus that each Hail Mary recalls is the same Jesus Whom the succession of the mysteries proposes to us."32

Further on, Pope Paul VI points out the importance of contemplation as we pray the rosary:

"Without this the Rosary is a body without a soul, and its recitation is in danger of becoming a mechanical repetition of formulas. . . By its nature the recitation of the Rosary calls for a quiet rhythm and a lingering pace, helping the individual to meditate on the mysteries of the Lord's life as seen through the eyes of her who was closest to the Lord. In this way the unfathomable riches of these mysteries are unfolded. "33

Over the years, in various apparitions, Mary has stressed the importance of the rosary. She has promised great blessings to those who pray the rosary. To St. Dominic and to Blessed Alan she stated:

  1. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.

  2. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the Rosary.

  3. The Rosary shall be a powerful armour against Hell, it will destroy vice, decrease sin, and defeat heresies.

  4. It will cause virtue and good works to flourish; it will obtain for souls the abundant mercy of God; it will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.

  5. The soul which recommends itself to me by the recitation of the Rosary shall not perish.

  6. Whoever shall recite the Rosary devoutly applying himself to the consideration of its sacred mysteries shall never be conquered by misfortune. God will not chastise him in His justice, he shall not perish by an unprovided death; if he be just he shall remain in the grace of God, and become worthy of eternal life.

  7. Whoever shall have a true devotion for the Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.

  8. Those who are faithful to recite the Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces; at the moment of death they shall participate in the merits of the saints in paradise.

  9. I shall deliver from purgatory those who have been devoted to the Rosary.

  10. The faithful children of the Rosary shall merit a high degree of glory in Heaven.

  11. You shall obtain all you ask of me by the recitation of the Rosary.

  12. All those who propagate the Holy Rosary shall be aided by me in their necessities.

  13. I have obtained from my Son that all the advocates of the Rosary shall have for intercessors the entire celestial court during their life and at the hour of death.34

Can we refuse Our most loving Mother her request that we daily pray the rosary? ...

Difficulties in Prayer

What are some of the difficulties, some of the sufferings connected with prayer? To pray well demands a basic Christian self-discipline that is exercised both during and outside of prayer. If the proper asceticism, the proper self-discipline, is absent outside of prayer, we can hardly expect to be properly disciplined during prayer itself.

Another aspect of the discipline connected with one's life of prayer is to set a daily time for our formal period of prayer. By formal periods of prayer we mean establishing certain times for prayer during which we put aside all other activities so that we can focus directly and completely on the exercise of prayer. Our Lady of Medjugorje, who stresses so much the need for daily prayer, has told us to establish times for prayer both in the morning and in the evening, as well as allowing the spirit of prayer to accompany us in all we do.

Putting up with distractions during prayer is a difficulty that one often experiences. Only in higher mystical prayer, when contemplative graces are powerfully at work, do all distractions disappear. So we should not expect to completely eliminate these distractions, but to strive to control them as best as possible.

Dryness is another suffering or difficulty we at times experience during prayer. We open ourselves to numerous disappointments if we expect an emotional high to always accompany our prayer. If the emotional high is there we are grateful but if this aspect is lacking we must not be discouraged. Rather, we must realize that the essence of prayer resides in the graced activity of our intellects and wills–an activity which does not need to be accompanied by an emotionally felt consolation.

Sometimes God just seems so distant. When this happens, we should examine ourselves to see if there is an obvious and significant deficiency in our present lifestyle. Is there something that we are doing and should not be doing, or something that we ought to be doing and are failing to do? If such an examination uncovers no significant deficiency, we can be reassured that this experience of God seeming to be distant is one of the pains or difficulties we can sometimes encounter during prayer's evolving journey. We must also remember, as the lives of Saints tell us, that God can be very close precisely at those times when He appears to be distant.

We should try to remain in spiritual peace whatever the difficulty. As the Christian life evolves, it leads to an ever-deepening peace despite sufferings that accompany our growth process. An evolving prayer life, consequently, evolves to a greater peace.

Prayer and Life

Prayer leads us to seek life. During prayer, our relationship with God is deepened. As we open ourselves to God's love, we grow in our desire to give ourselves completely to Him. We desire to hand our complete being over to Christ so that He may lead us ever closer to the Father in the Spirit with Mary our Mother at our side. In prayer we realize that Christ wants to accompany us in all our daily activities. We realize that He wants His teaching and example to increasingly influence everything we do and it gives us the desire to open ourselves more and more to the flames of love coming from the Heart of Jesus.

We need resolve to accomplish God's will each day as we perform our daily duties. Sometimes doing the Father's will is easy, sometimes it is difficult. Whatever the case may be, prayer enlightens and strengthens us for the task.

To live in this manner is a joy, a happiness, a peace. To live in this manner is to make our whole life a prayer. To live in this manner is to live out our consecration to the Heart of Jesus and to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Queen  Of  Peace

Tell everyone that God gives graces through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Tell them to ask graces from her, and that the Heart of Jesus wishes to be venerated together with the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Ask them to plead for peace from the Immaculate Heart of Mary, for the Lord has confided the peace of the world to her. (Our Lady of Fatima to Jacinta.)35

   M-J1a.jpg (24718 bytes)

The world needs peace. Individual nations need peace and families need peace. The Church needs peace. Each of us individually needs peace. We must work for peace through prayer, fasting, and other Christ-like activities.

And just what do we mean by peace? St. Augustine says peace is the tranquility of order. God has put order into His creation and this order must be respected and promoted if peace is to prevail. To the extent that the human family lives according to God's will—lives according to the order or the plan God has established for creation—to that extent does peace exist in the various segments of human society. To the extent there are violations of God's plan, of His will, to that extent peace is absent.

If we are to be instruments of peace, we ourselves must be at peace. Our personal peace is the tranquility of order which results from our doing God's will. The more we are united through love with God in the doing of His will, the more we experience peace.

Sometimes the sense of peace we experience is so strong that we can "feel" it pulsating throughout our being. These are periods of what we may call the experience of extraordinary peace. Unfortunately this type of peace usually is not an everyday occurrence.

Most of the time we live immersed in a more subdued kind of peace which results from our daily attempts to do God's will. It is that peace which is a welcome and sustaining companion as we walk the path of everyday life with its usual assortments of joys and disappointments, successes and failures, laughter and tears.

Occasionally, very deep suffering may enter our lives. It is during these times that we need special determination to preserve ourselves in a basic peace of spirit despite the very significant pain. One may wonder how a person can be at peace amidst the experience of great suffering. St. Francis de Sales in one of his writings—and I have not been able to locate the exact place—offers an analogy which I think is very helpful. He asks us to picture an ocean body of water at the time of a violent storm. The surface of the water becomes extremely turbulent. Francis asks us, using our imaginations, to descend beneath the surface of water into its depths. What do we find? The deeper one descends away from the turbulent surface, the calmer the water becomes. Likewise, says the saint, should it be with us during times of every significant suffering. Although the surface of the spirit may be very agitated, one can still maintain basic peace of spirit by going deep down to one's center where God is more directly experienced. Here the person experiences a calm, a basic peace, although the suffering remains.

If we are trying to do God's will, God intends us to be at peace. The more we conform to God's will, the more we are living according to the order He intends for us. In turn, the more our lives are in harmony with the order established by God, the more we experience peace—peace being the tranquility of order. The more we ourselves live in this manner, the more fit instruments we become for promoting God's order and consequent peace throughout the various segments of society. Let us ask Mary, to whom God has entrusted the peace of the world, to help us become greater instruments of peace. Queen of peace, pray for us.

Adaptation In Christian Existence

... the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him!" Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, "Out of Egypt I called my son." (Mt. 2:13-15).

As we meditate on this scene from the life of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, various ideas can come and go. Here are those of a contemporary author, Isaias Powers:

"Mary and Joseph had placed themselves under obedience to the will of God. The flight into Egypt was part of His will, so they did it. They adapted to new circumstances as best they could. They got on with the job of a new daily routine, living faithfully to God and being true to themselves despite changed surroundings"...36

All of us must make various adaptations along the path of life. We are members of a Pilgrim Church. Just as the total community which is Church makes adaptations as she progresses through time on way to the promised land–the heavenly Jerusalem–so must each of us adapt to life's changing situations. The changes can be considerable.

The various life stages–childhood, adolescence, young adulthood, middle-age, old age–present us with an ongoing challenge to change. What is appropriate activity for the child is not proper for the adolescent. The young adult must adapt in ways not common to the middle-aged. The changes the elderly must adapt to are not those of previous life stages. To properly meet these various challenges along life's journey is a demanding one. To shrink from the demands of the adaptations involved is to stunt our growth. To make the adaptations, despite the degree of pain, is to develop further that Christ-life of which Mary is the mother.

Personal relationships present us with additional challenges of adaptations. Death takes away a much beloved husband from a devoted wife. Only those who have experienced such a radical loss can fully appreciate the pains of adapting to life without the other. As the wife looks back over the life of the relationship, she will also easily recognize that the relationship with all its joy and suffering, with all its various fluctuations, continually challenged one's capacity to adapt.

Friendship also demands the ability to adapt to the evolving dynamics of a relationship. The partners of the friendship change over the years. Sometimes they both change for the better–and the adaptation required by both is basically a joyful experience. Sometimes one of the friends seems to regress. This puts a strain on the relationship. How should the other re-act?

The adaptation required in today's industrialized–technological culture sometimes seems overwhelming. It is easy to understand, consequently, why Alvin Tofler's book, Future Shock, was such a popular publication. He describes the phrase "future shock" as the dizzying sense of disorientation caused by the premature arrival of the future. In other words, the extremely fast-paced change which cuts across various aspects of modern-day life puts a significant strain on one's ability to adapt.

We can similarly consider the spiritual life itself. The spiritual life includes all the various aspects of existence within the human condition. The various challenges to adaptation mentioned above–and the many others not mentioned–are all aspects of our spiritual journey. As the spiritual life develops, we must try to be aware of the dynamics involved. We must try to be cognizant, through good spiritual reading and good spiritual direction of both the general and particularized pattern of spiritual growth.

We say "general pattern" because we all follow the same basic plan in the following of Christ. We say "particularized pattern" because each of us puts on Christ in a way which respects our personal uniqueness. This means there will always be some differences between Christians as they are increasingly assimilated to the one Christ.

Both the general and particularized patterns of following Christ obviously involve change and this change demands that we make adaptations as we progress along our spiritual journey. If we are to grow in the spiritual life, we must follow the lead of the Spirit. This Spirit-led growth will require various kinds of change and adaptation. Sometimes this can be pleasant; at other times, the process can be quite painful. Let us ask Mary and Joseph to assist us in the process, remembering that they, too, had to adapt to changing circumstances–for instance, the changes introduced into their lives by the flight into Egypt.

                R. Discernment of Spirits

                    (1) From God the Holy Spirit
                    (2) From Self
                    (3) From devil

                Jesus:

Now I write to you of obedience and
love. A person that loves God has love
in their hearts has light in their
hearts. I am Light. I am the way,
the truth and the light. I am
God. They are kind in their hearts and
                loving.

                    Eve rebelled against Me in
                the Garden. Rebellion against
                God is disorder –

You have a choice to say when satan tempts you:

                    "Satan get behind me" –
The devil wants to get inside of
the person and wants them to give
                    into him.
The devil wants to tear apart –
to rip apart – break up
communication – he wants people to
isolate – satan wants to operate in others
to disrupt – destroy unity –
                    The devil wants discord –
                    he attaches families, religious
                    communities, countries –

                The devil is real
The devil hates the Blessed Sacrament –
The devil wants to spit people apart –
The devil can come in sheep's clothing
                The devil wants violence and
                    hatred and destruction –

The devil wants to bring down the
house, so he works in anger –
anger can be their god – red anger –

The devil wants to rule in people
that allow him to use them
to oppose what is God's will.

I am Jesus, the Son of God –

The devil hates and wants people
to oppose the will of the
                    Father. The devil opposes
anything that is of God, what
God has called them to –

                Oppose what God wants.

Say to satan "Satan get behind me" –

                Satan opposes My cross –

Satan uses people to try to
                    control and destroy –

                Satan is darkness –

                Satan wants the person to
                    secure power-over
                    to promote his hate
                    and anger –

Satan wants a person to give
into their appetite for power –
                    PRIDE
                    JEALOUSY
                    ENVY
                    SEX

Satan says: "Give into yourself" –

                Satan says: "Don't obey God"

Satan says: "Forget about discipline – don't
                                let anybody have authority over
                                you. Rebel against just authority"

Satan says: "Seek power for your vain glory"

                Satan says:

"Lie and tell yourself what you
do that is wrong is right,
argue that your sins are right –
                    don't take correction from anyone"

Lies become a way of life –

What you want you can lie
for: the person can think. Where
do these lies stop – one lie after the other.

A person living in the way to grow in
                    the spiritual life, seeks the
absolute truth. I am absolute truth!

I am the way, the truth and the
                    life –

                Satan wants tricks, the
                    startling, the secret –
                    trying to get negative
                    attention by pulling pranks
                    "Evil and mean spirited"

                Satan wants permissiveness –
Satan wants a person to rebel
and do whatever they want –

Satan wants a person to lie
                    to superiors and authority –

                Satan wants a person to
hide needed information for power –

Satan wants a person to manipulate
to disobey My law of love
and doing the Father's will –

Satan wants the person to ignore
                    all over them with correction
                    and to ignore when they
                    have done offenses, as if
                    it was not wrong. Satan
wants them to lie to themselves
                    about their sins.

Satan wants the person to rule
for him and to take down
the house to operate for satan –
                    demonic!

A person with power seeking vain
                    glory for themselves is
                    dangerous –
If they are angry and dark
                    they use the power manipulating
                    others to act-out their
                    unhealed anger and darkness –

                Satan hates God –

I call men to carry their cross
and to follow Me – to live
                the life of resurrection –

I call men to holiness and
                    discipline to do their actions
for the will of God – to
be men of love – to learn
to love others more and more
                    and grow in holiness –
to work with other men in
                    love in the building of
                    My Kingdom –

I call men to self denial,
                self discipline, obedience
to the law of love –
                Walking in the truth –

                Basing their actions on what
is the will of God and
                    their eternal salvation –

                Men for others –

The devil comes and tempts the
                    man who is mean-spirited
to control, to lie, to be
                    filled with hatred, anger,
                    jealousy –

I call you to endure the suffering
that you must to bring you
to a greater life of resurrection –

                I am the life –

                The man undisciplined refuses
                    suffering for himself and
                    the cross –
                    he can inflict punishment
                    on innocent others for
his own hatred and anger and
                    darkness and uncontrolled,
                    undisciplined life –

The devil works in secret –
He works to take over with
                        evil and darkness

Where I am – the devil fights,
                    opposes –
                    He hates the Eucharist!

He hates – he does not want
                    men loving God, loving
others – a man working for
                    the devil is mean-spirited –

                Evil has its hour –

But I am a God who is all just!

I will bring down the wicked
                    who refuse repentance
                    and hurt others with
                    their unforgiving, aggressive
                    ways.

                    It is their own destruction
                they weave –
                    For I will judge, justly.

I offer a man forgiveness, who
                    honestly repents and lives
                    to change his evil ways,
I am a God of mercy and justice.

Jesus: Many cannot see how the evil one
                    works to deceive and
                    bring decline – to thwart
                    growth –

You cannot do what you want –

I give you the commandments –
to love God with your whole
                    heart and love your neighbor
                    as yourself.

Satan tells you to sin – Satan
                    says it doesn't matter –
lie, lying becomes a habit –
                    Satan says –
                    "manipulate – do what you
                    want – ignore authority –
                    do whatever you want –
                    don't let anyone oppose you"

So the person can walk in greed,
                    power-seeking, pride, they can be
                    filled with darkness and despair
as they give into their twisted,
                    rebellious reasoning.

Then the devil accuses the person
                    and tells them, after they
                    sin and give into satan,
                    "what's the use – keep sinning –
you are guilty, you are ruined,
bring down darkness on others –
                    be envious, be jealous,
                    hurt others, don't get under
                    anybody, be aggressive –
lie" – that is what satan says!

The devil wants you to despair
                    like Judas – he tells
                    you horrible things about
                    yourself.

                And I give you
My letters of love in the Blue Books,
                    The Mighty Medicine.

Jesus: I am the way, the truth and
                    the life –

                The person of light respects
                    authority –
                    they seek the light –
                    authority, discipline –
                    know your faults and
                    working to change them
                    is your friend, to grow
                    in My image and likeness
                    more and more -

There is new life in Me –

When you sin – I tell you
                    to repent and say you
                    are sorry and make
                    reparation and be
                    humble and know you
                    are sinners and ask
                    for My mercy –

I forgive your sins when you
                    come to Me and
                    ask for forgiveness and
                    mercy and want to
                    make reparation for your
                    sins –

                You can choose life or
                    death –

You have a free will –

                Sing: Choose Life

From January 27, 1992

I can never live the moments
                    of this day again

                When I go to bed
                    today is gone forever

                I must choose to treasure
                    each moment because
it is the only moment I have and
                    it only lasts one moment.

Jesus: I am meek and tender of
                    heart – not combatal

                Devotion to My Heart and
                    Mary's Heart can help
                    you fight off satan –

Mary crushed the head of satan –

                The devil wants the
                    "undisciplined life"

                The devil say:

                    "Do what you want –
                    Nobody over you" –

                Excerpt from the Mass Book

December 19, 1996

THERE IS A MAN ON THE CROSS

God wants union with us. He wants fire. Many try to love God with a cold heart. They tell Him words that they think they should say that are loving.

When one loves, they do not need to be prompted to say words. From the depth of their being they cry out their words of love. It is a cry from within, from the fire within their chest, behind the words. The words are burning in their chest and must be released because of the fire behind them.

We are as blind men. We do not see the great gifts that God gives to us. It is as if we stand by the shore of the sea and throw little words at Jesus. We must not be afraid to jump into the water and be completely immersed in His love. He was consumed with such love for us. He gave Himself to His death on the cross.

There is a man on a cross and he tells us so many things. He does not have to speak. When we study Him on the cross, He speaks to us with His pierced hands, His head covered with blood, His body withered and beaten. He speaks to us of His undying love.

Oh, beloved Savior, I am blind. I am selfish. I do not see the great reservoir of love that you give to Me. I see the man dying on the cross. How do I see Him? Do I see a figure and think, oh, is it a pretty cross, would it look good in my living room? Do I see the cross and think, oh, I guess I should have one in my house, others will think I am holy then? Holy people do have a cross in their homes.

Do I see the body of a man, a live man? Do I see His labored breath? Do I see His chest move as His Heart beats within? Do I see the real skin of a man? Do I see the real blood He shed? Do I see the light that silhouettes His withered body? Do I see the Light of the World? Do I see  the tender skin of an infant laid on bare wood in the manager and then the torn, lacerated, bloodied skin of this man?

This is love! There is a man on the cross. There is a child born to us today. He is the Light of the World. His light is shining in the darkness, but people do not see. They see the wood, but they view it for the beauty it will create in their newly decorated living rooms.

The cross is not a thing of the past, the cross is with us today. We carry it on our backs as He showed us we would, but we try to take it off and throw it away.

It is in the cross there is the resurrection. It is by meditating on the crucifix, we see His undying love. We must open up our eyes and see. Pray for vision to see clearly the man Who gave Himself for love of us, Our Divine Lord.

And how do we return His love?

Love is spontaneous, love is fire in our hearts, love is alive and emitted with force. God is love.

Do we realize that His last thoughts on the cross were for us. In this agony, as He hung on the cross, He was consumed with burning love for us. When He was scourged at the pillar, He was comforted by our acts of love that we give to Him today. Our burning love for Him was sweetness to His most Sacred Heart in the moments of His bitter Passion.

Love gives and wants to give its all. A person in love does not need to be prompted and told to love. Love wants to give.

Love is given spontaneously, it is not controlled. Love is tenderness pouring forth from the heart. Love is not concerned with commitment, love by itself is committed. It pours forth from the mouth of the lover because of the fire burning deep inside.

Let us study the battered body of Christ on the cross. As I study His pierced hands and feet, His head crowned with thorns, the blood pouring forth from His Heart, as I view the lacerations covering His body, I feel His word well up in my heart. He speaks to me in the depth of my soul and I hear Him say, "I love you. I love you. I love you, to My death on the cross."

He gives, He gives, He gives to us constantly. He gives and how is He treated by us? We take and we take and we take and we don't even say thanks. Thanks for our breath, our heartbeat, the beautiful sky, the sunlit day, the moon at night, the beautiful eyes of our friends. Oh, how many things He gives to us and how ungrateful we are!

How is your day? Is your glass half-empty or half-full?

How often my glass is half empty, as I am reminded by my spiritual director, Fr. Carter. How often I do not thank Our Divine Lord for His gifts!

When I am filled with love, I see more clearly. The secret is to know God's love. We must pray for the grace to know His love more and for the grace  to love Him more.

There is a man on the cross. Do we see His undying love for us? He speaks no words. He shows us the crucifix. The words are alive in our hearts.

The Father created us to love and to be loved. God is love. He wants union with us. He gives Himself to us. This is love. There is union in proportion to how I give myself to Him.

Jesus gives and gives and gives and we treat Him "nonchalantly". He gives us love, but we must give ourselves to Him to have union with Him. He wants us to be one with Him.

We must relish the great gifts He gives to us - the greatest gift being the gift of Himself. We should anticipate the great gift of receiving Him in the Holy Eucharist with such eagerness in our hearts. The words I feel in my heart are expressed in the song, "I Love You, Jesus":

Oh Burning Heart, Oh Love divine, how sweet You are to me. I see the host, I know You're here to love and care for me. I know Your love a little now, so dear You are to me. Come give me life, abundant life, I thirst to be with Thee. I cannot say. There are not words to say what my heart feels. I love You so, I scarce can breathe when You come into me. I know Your love a little now, so dear You are to me. Come give me life, abundant life, I thirst to be with Thee. Your tender Heart, Oh how it beats for love of each this day. I want to give You all my love, surrender totally. I know Your love a little now, so dear You are to me. Come give me life, abundant life, I thirst to be with Thee.

When we awake at night, we must think of Him and how we will receive Him the next day. We long to go to Communion to receive Him. We love Jesus in the Eucharist so much. A King comes to us. He enters our body and unites with our soul. He is the King of the kingdom of heaven…He is our Lover, He is the Almighty God, a Divine Person, and He comes to us. He wants us to come to Him with such longing. He wants us to think of Him all day. He wants us to long for Him.

Ps. 63:1-8:

God, you are my God, I pine for you;
my heart thirsts for you,
my body longs for you,
as a land parched, dreary and waterless.
Thus I have gazed on you in the sanctuary,
seeing your power and your glory.
Better your faithful love than life itself;
my lips will praise you.
Thus I will bless you all my life,
in your name lift up my hands.
All my longings fulfilled as with fat and rich foods,
a song of joy on my lips and praise in my mouth.
On my bed when I think of you,
I muse on you in the watches of the night,
for you have always been my help;
in the shadow of your wings I rejoice;
my heart clings to you,
your right hand supports me.

The priest says in the Mass at the Offertory, "By the mystery of this water and wine may we come to share in the Divinity of Christ, Who humbled himself to share in our humanity." He gives Himself to us. He shares His Divinity with us. We are human creatures and He shares Himself with us. My heart burns when the priest puts the drop of water in the wine. This is, indeed, a great mystery that God remains with us today, truly present in His Divinity and humanity in the Holy Eucharist, that He gives Himself to us in Communion, and that He waits for us to come to the tabernacle and be with Him. He wants to outpour His divine love and His divine life to us.

We should swoon for our Lover the Almighty, Divine God, yet we go to Him with such cold hearts. He wants our burning love.

The song "I Love You, Jesus":

Excerpt of The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, by Louis J. Puhl, S.J. P. 60-61

136. THE FOURTH DAY

        A MEDITATION ON TWO STANDARDS

The one of Christ, our supreme leader and lord,
the other of Lucifer, the deadly enemy of our
human nature

PRAYER.   The usual preparatory prayer.

window at a former Jesuit Seminary

137. FIRST PRELUDE.   This is the history. Here it will be that Christ calls and wants all beneath His standard, and Lucifer, on the other hand, wants all under his.

138. SECOND PRELUDE.   This is a mental representation of the place. It will be here to see a great plain, comprising the whole region about Jerusalem, where the sovereign Commander-in-Chief of all the good is Christ our Lord; and another plain about the region of Babylon, where the chief of the enemy is Lucifer.

139. THIRD PRELUDE.   This is to ask for what I desire. Here it will be to ask for a knowledge of the deceits of the rebel chief and help to guard myself against them; and also to ask for a knowledge of the true life exemplified in the sovereign and true Commander, and the grace to imitate Him.

FIRST PART

THE STANDARD OF SATAN

140. FIRST POINT.   Imagine you see the chief of all the enemy in the vast plain about Babylon, seated on a great throne of fire and smoke, his appearance inspiring horror and terror.

141. SECOND POINT.   Consider how he summons innumerable demons, and scatters them, some to one city and some to another, throughout the whole world, so that no province, no place, no state of life, no individual is overlooked.

142. THIRD POINT.   Consider the address he makes to them, how he goads them on to lay snares for men and bind them with chains. First they are to tempt them to covet riches (as Satan himself is accustomed to do in most cases) that they may the more easily attain the empty honors of this world, and then come to overweening pride.

The first step, then, will be riches, the second honor, the third pride. From these three steps the evil one leads to all other vices.

SECOND PART

THE STANDARD OF CHRIST

143.   In a similar way, we are to picture to ourselves the sovereign and true Commander, Christ our Lord.

144. FIRST POINT.   Consider Christ our Lord, standing in a lowly place in a great plain about the region of Jerusalem, His appearance beautiful and attractive.

145. SECOND POINT.   Consider how the Lord of all the world chooses so many persons, apostles, disciples, etc., and sends them throughout the whole world to spread His sacred doctrine among all men, no matter what their state or condition.

313. RULES FOR DISCERNMENT OF SPIRITS
I

Rules for understanding to some extent the different movements produced in the soul and for recognizing those that are good to admit them, and those that are bad, to reject them. These rules are more suited to the first week

314.  I.  In the case of those who go from one mortal sin to another, the enemy is ordinarily accustomed to propose apparent pleasures. He fills their imagination with sensual delights and gratifications, the more readily to keep them in their vices and increase the number of their sins.

With such persons the good spirit uses a method which is the reverse of the above. Making use of the light of reason, he will rouse the sting of conscience and fill them with remorse.

315.  2.  In the case of those who go on earnestly striving to cleanse their souls from sin and who seek to rise in the service of God our Lord to greater perfection, the method pursued is the opposite of that mentioned in the first rule.

Then it is characteristic of the evil spirit to harass with anxiety, to afflict with sadness, to raise obstacles backed by fallacious reasonings that disturb the soul. Thus he seeks to prevent the soul from advancing.

It is characteristic of the good spirit, however, to give courage and strength, consolations, tears, inspirations, and peace. This He does by making all easy, by removing all obstacles so that the soul goes forward in doing good.

316.  3.  SPIRITUAL CONSOLATION.  I call it consolation when an interior movement is aroused in the soul, by which it is inflamed with love of its Creator and Lord, and as a consequence, can love no creature on the face of the earth for its own sake, but only in the Creator of them all. It is likewise consolation when one sheds tears that move to the love of God, whether it be because of sorrow for sins, or because of the sufferings of Christ our Lord, or for any other reason that is immediately directed to the praise and service of God. Finally, I call consolation every increase of faith, hope, and love, and all interior joy that invites and attracts to what is heavenly and to the salvation of one's soul by filling it with peace and quiet in its Creator and Lord.

317.  4.  SPIRITUAL DESOLATION.  I call desolation what is entirely the opposite of what is described in the third rule, as darkness of soul, turmoil of spirit, inclination to what is low and earthly, restlessness rising from many disturbances and temptations which lead to want of faith, want of hope, want of love. The soul is wholly slothful, tepid, sad, and separated, as it were, from its Creator and Lord. For just as consolation is the opposite of desolation, so the thoughts that spring from consolation are the opposite of those that spring from desolation.

318.  5.  In time of desolation we should never make any change, but remain firm and constant in the resolution and decision which guided us the day before the desolation, or in the decision to which we adhered in the preceding consolation. For just as in consolation the good spirit guides and counsels us, so in desolation the evil spirit guides and counsels. Following his counsels we can never find the way to a right decision.

319.  6.  Though in desolation we must never change our former resolutions, it will be very advantageous to intensify our activity against the desolation. We can insist more upon prayer, upon meditation, and on much examination of ourselves. We can make an effort in a suitable way to do some penance.

320.  7.  When one is in desolation, he should be mindful that God has left him to his natural powers to resist the different agitations and temptations of the enemy in order to try him. He can resist with the help of God, which always remains, though he may not clearly perceive it. For though God has taken from him the abundance of fervor and overflowing love and the intensity of His favors, nevertheless, he has sufficient grace for eternal salvation.

321.  8.  When one is in desolation, he should strive to persevere in patience. This reacts against the vexations that have overtaken him. Let him consider, too, that consolation will soon return, and in the meantime, he must diligently use the means against desolation which have been given in the sixth rule.

322.  9.  The principal reasons why we suffer from desolation are three:

The first is because we have been tepid and slothful or negligent in our exercises of piety, and so through our own fault spiritual consolation has been taken away from us.

The second reason is because God wishes to try us, to see how much we are worth, and how much we will advance in His service and praise when left without the generous reward of consolations and signal favors.

The third reason is because God wishes to give us a true knowledge and understanding of ourselves, so that we may have an intimate perception of the fact that it is not within our power to acquire and attain great devotion, intense love, tears, or any other spiritual consolation; but that all this is the gift and grace of God our Lord. God does not wish us to build on the property of another, to rise up in spirit in a certain pride and vainglory and attribute to ourselves the devotion and other effects of spiritual consolation.

323.  10.  When one enjoys consolation, let him consider how he will conduct himself during the time of ensuing desolation, and store up a supply of strength as defense against that day.

324.  11.  He who enjoys consolation should take care to humble himself and lower himself as much as possible. Let him recall how little he is able to do in time of desolation, when he is left without such grace or consolation.

On the other hand, one who suffers desolation should remember that by making use of the sufficient grace offered him, he can do much to withstand all his enemies. Let him find his strength in his Creator and Lord.

325.  12.  The enemy conducts himself as a woman. He is a weakling before a show of strength, and a tyrant if he has his will. It is characteristic of a woman in a quarrel with a man to lose courage and take to flight if the man shows that he is determined and fearless. However, if the man loses courage and begins to flee, the anger, vindictiveness, and rage of the woman surge up and know no bounds. In the same way, the enemy becomes weak, loses courage, and turns to flight with his seductions as soon as one leading a spiritual life faces his temptations boldly, and does exactly the opposite of what he suggests. However, if one begins to be afraid and to lose courage in temptations, no wild animal on earth can be more fierce than the enemy of our human nature. He will carry out his perverse intentions with consummate malice.

326.  13.  Our enemy may also be compared in his manner of acting to a false lover. He seeks to remain hidden and does not want to be discovered. If such a lover speaks with evil intention to the daughter of a good father, or to the wife of a good husband, and seeks to seduce them, he wants his words and solicitations kept secret. He is greatly displeased if his evil suggestions and depraved intentions are revealed by the daughter to her father, or by the wife to her husband. Then he readily sees he will not succeed in what he has begun. In the same way, when the enemy of our human nature tempts a just soul with his wiles and seductions, he earnestly desires that they be received secretly and kept secret. But if one manifests them to a confessor, or to some other spiritual person who understands his deceits and malicious designs, the evil one is very much vexed. For he knows that he cannot succeed in his evil undertaking, once his evident deceits have been revealed.

327.  14.  The conduct of our enemy may also be compared to the tactics of a leader intent upon seizing and plundering a position he desires. A commander and leader of an army will encamp, explore the fortifications and defenses of the stronghold, and attack at the weakest point. In the same way, the enemy of our human nature investigates from every side all our virtues, theological, cardinal, and moral. Where he finds the defenses of eternal salvation weakest and most deficient, there he attacks and tries to take us by storm.

328. RULES FOR DISCERNMENT OF SPIRITS
II

Further rules for understanding the different movements produced in the soul. They serve for a more accurate discernment of spirits and are more suitable for the second week

329.  I.  It is characteristic of God and His Angels, when they act upon the soul, to give true happiness and spiritual joy, and to banish all the sadness and disturbances which are caused by the enemy.
It is characteristic of the evil one to fight against such happiness and consolation by proposing fallacious reasonings, subtilties, and continual deceptions.

330.  2.  God alone can give consolation to the soul without any previous cause. It belongs solely to the Creator to come into a soul, to leave it, to act upon it, to draw it wholly to the love of His Divine Majesty. I said without previous cause, that is, without any preceding perception or knowledge of any subject by which a soul might be led to such a consolation through its own acts of intellect and will.

331.  3.  If a cause precedes, both the good angel and the evil spirit can give consolation to a soul, but for a quite different purpose. The good angel consoles for the progress of the soul, that it may advance and rise to what is more perfect. The evil spirit consoles for purposes that are the contrary, and that afterwards he might draw the soul to his own perverse intentions and wickedness.

332.  4.  It is a mark of the evil spirit to assume the appearance of an angel of light. He begins by suggesting thoughts that are suited to a devout soul, and ends by suggesting his own. For example, he will suggest holy and pious thoughts that are wholly in conformity with the sanctity of the soul. Afterwards, he will endeavor little by little to end by drawing the soul into his hidden snares and evil designs.

333.  5.  We must carefully observe the whole course of our thoughts. If the beginning and middle and end of the course of thoughts are wholly good and directed to what is entirely right, it is a sign that they are from the good angel. But the course of thoughts suggested to us may terminate in something evil, or distracting, or less good than the soul had formerly proposed to do. Again, it may end in what weakens the soul, or disquiets it; or by destroying the peace, tranquility, and quiet which it had before, it may cause disturbance to the soul. These things are a clear sign that the thoughts are proceeding from the evil spirit, the enemy of our progress and eternal salvation.

334.  6.  When the enemy of our human nature has been detected and recognized by the trail of evil marking his course and by the wicked end to which he leads us, it will be profitable for one who has been tempted to review immediately the whole course of the temptation. Let him consider the series of good thoughts, how they arose, how the evil one gradually attempted to make him step down from the state of spiritual delight and joy in which he was, till finally he drew him to his wicked designs. The purpose of this review is that once such an experience has been understood and carefully observed, we may guard ourselves for the future against the customary deceits of the enemy.

335.  7.  In souls that are progressing to greater perfection, the action of the good angel is delicate, gentle, delightful. It may be compared to a drop of water penetrating a sponge.
The action of the evil spirit upon such souls is violent, noisy, and disturbing. It may be compared to a drop of water falling upon a stone.
In souls that are going from bad to worse, the action of the spirits mentioned above is just the reverse. The reason for this is to be sought in the opposition or similarity of these souls to the different kinds of spirits. When the disposition is contrary to that of the spirits, they enter with noise and commotion that are easily perceived. When the disposition is similar to that of the spirits, they enter silently, as one coming into his own house when the doors are open.

336.  8.  When consolation is without previous cause, as was said, there can be no deception in it, since it can proceed from God our Lord only. But a spiritual person who has received such a consolation must consider it very attentively, and must cautiously distinguish the actual time of the consolation from the period which follows it. At such a time the soul is still fervent and favored with the grace and aftereffects of the consolation which has passed. In this second period the soul frequently forms various resolutions and plans which are not granted directly by God our Lord. They may come from our own reasoning on the relations of our concepts and on the consequences of our judgments, or they may come from the good or evil spirit. Hence, they must be carefully examined before they are given full approval and put into execution.

THREE  The Christian Life of Grace

In the pattern of death-resurrection, the Church continues the prophetic, kingly and priestly offices of Christ. She does not do this through a merely extrinsic activity, for her external action is an incarnation of a more fundamental reality, the life of grace, the Christ-life. Each member of the Church is called to develop this Christ-life to the fullest. In other words, each member of the People of God is destined for Christian holiness. Vatican II tells us this: "Thus it is evident to everyone that all the faithful of Christ of whatever rank or status are called to the fullness of the Christian life and to the perfection of charity. . . ."1 If all are not called upon to live out this life of Christian sanctity in exactly the same way, nevertheless all are called to the same essential holiness. Vatican II states: "In the various classes and differing duties of life, one and the same holiness is cultivated by all, who are moved by the Spirit of God, and who obey the voice of the Father, and worship God the Father in spirit and in truth. . . ."2

All are called to the same basic holiness because the life of grace, which is the life of holiness, is essentially the same for all.

       1. WHAT IS GRACE?

Grace is first and foremost the lavish self-giving or self-communication of God to man through the person Christ. This is the stress of St. Paul. Contemporary theology therefore is correct in describing grace first of all in terms of the special presence of the Triune God. The divine persons are present to give us a participation in their own life, to be a guide of our actions, and to be known and loved by us. This special presence is variously named: the divine indwelling, the indwelling of the Trinity, uncreated grace. "If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we shall come to him and make our home with him." (Jn 14:23).

Through this special presence, Father, Son and Holy Spirit unite themselves so intimately to us in personal love that their image is left upon us. This image of the Trinity is sanctifying grace. There are, then, two great realities of grace: God's personal self-communication, or uncreated grace, and created grace, or the life of sanctifying grace.

As we have just mentioned, God's gift of Himself in a special loving presence is the aspect of grace which should be stressed. But the reality of created grace—the life God gives us—should also receive its due attention. Scripture so bids us. The eminent biblical scholar, John L. McKenzie, after commenting on numerous New Testament passages, observes: "Wide as may seem to be the range of these passages, they have in common the conception of grace as something given, received, a reality in the Christian and in the world in which the Christian lives."
3 Also, looking at the thought of St. Paul, we have the words of Rondet: "In First Corinthians, Paul's theology of grace takes a big step forward. He continues to speak of grace as a special mercy, a special goodness of God (1 Cor 1,3). But grace now also appears as a created gift, a permanent favor. It is a kind of supernatural power, and charisms in some way embody various aspects of it."4 Rondet speaks further about Paul's theology of grace: "In chapter 4 of Second Corinthians, grace appears clearly as an interior principle of spiritual life. It is no accident that Paul goes on to talk about the interior man, the 'inner nature which is being renewed every day' (4,16). . . ."5 Consequently, the reality of the life of sanctifying or created grace is very clear in the New Testament.

Created grace, or the life of sanctifying grace, actually inheres in us. On the other hand, the persons of the Trinity specially present to us (uncreated grace), despite their mysteriously close union with us, never become a part of our natures. Although the special presence of the divine persons and sanctifying grace always coexist, these two realities are nevertheless distinct.

Sanctifying grace is best described as a life. It is a sharing in divine life. This life is one of the great themes of St. John. In the theology of John the purpose of the Incarnation is precisely this—to reveal and communicate divine life to men.
6 "I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full." (Jn 10:10).

God is bold and daring. Without God's revelation, who would dare to think that God offers man a share in His own divine life? In Their self-communication to us, and in their sharing of divine life with us, the Trinity truly offers us a daring challenge. They bid us to live life at its fullest, to live a life patterned after their own. Through the new powers which grace gives us, they inexorably call us to go out of our self-centeredness and live a life of dynamic love-relationships with Themselves and man. Through this life of love They ask us to continue the work of Their love, the work of creation and redemption. Through this life of love They ask us to help change the face of the earth. Summarily, our life in Christ is a call to the greatness of love.

To talk of grace, then, is primarily to talk of the personal relationships in love which are established by our Christ-life. These personal relationships we wish to stress in our treatment of grace. First of all, however, we should briefly discuss basic ideas concerning the life of sanctifying grace, which is the foundation for ability to enter into these personal relationships. All things being equal, the more we know about sanctifying grace, the better we can understand and appreciate the nature of these personal relationships in Christ.

Although the life of sanctifying grace is a reality distinct from our natural life, it is not something superimposed upon our nature as icing is added to a cake. Rahner states: "The nature of a spiritual being and its supernatural elevation are not opposed to each other like two things which lie side by side, so that they must be either kept separate or confused. The supernatural elevation of man is, though not due to him, the absolute fulfillment of his being. . . ."
7

Our Christ-life permeates our persons completely. Nothing which is good is destroyed. All is elevated to a new level of existence, for through grace we enter a new life. St. Paul affirms: "And for anyone who is in Christ, there is a new creation; the old creation has gone, and now the new one is here." (2 Co 5:17)

Why are we able to live on a new level of existence through grace? The answer lies in the fact that we receive a created sharing in the divine nature. Nature, we know, is a principle or capacity of operation according to a certain level of existence. An angel can perform acts of an angel because he has an angelic nature. A man can know intellectually because he has a rational nature. Likewise, through our Christ-life of grace we can perform God-like acts because we have received a new nature. Scripture speaks to us about our participation in the nature of God. In one of the most noted passages of the New Testament on the life of grace, we read: "By His divine power, he has given us all the things we need for life and for true devotion, bringing us to know God himself, who has called us by his own glory and goodness. In making these gifts, he has given us the guarantee of something very great and wonderful to come: through them you will be able to share the divine nature and to escape corruption in a world that is sunk in vice." (2 P 1:3-4).

It is not sufficient that we possess this Christ-life, this new vital principle. Also we need the supernatural faculties through which this Christ-life can both express itself and grow. This is evident if we consider our natural life as an analogy. It is not sufficient to possess a human nature. The life of this nature has to express itself and grow through various sense and spiritual faculties. For instance, one expresses his life as a man when he uses his intellect or when he walks.

What are the supernatural faculties through which my Christ-life expresses itself and grows? These faculties are the supernaturally infused virtues, chief of which are faith, hope and love. These virtues give the Christian the capacity to channel his Christ-life into the various areas of his total existence. Or to put it in a slightly different manner, we can say that these virtues allow the Christian to relate properly to God, man and the rest of creation. They are positive modifications of the person, allowing him to act with various Christian attitudes. The virtues, in turn, are activated by actual grace which affects both our intellects and our wills.

God has given the Christian still another gift of grace. We refer here to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. These gifts are capacities which allow the Christian in a special manner to be receptive to the inspirations of the Holy Spirit. These gifts, in turn, have as their purpose the perfecting of the infused virtues. Theologians teach that the virtues do not achieve a mature stage of development without the simultaneous activity of the gifts.

Another important aspect of grace is that which is termed external. External actual grace is a person, place or thing which serves as an occasion for internal grace. We must realize the extreme importance of external grace, especially concerning persons. There are many examples. A wife can receive God's grace through the loving presence of her husband. The witness of a dedicated Christian can inspire us to greater things. The love and encouragement of a friend can spur us to a more generous self-giving in the work of Christ. Yes, persons are extremely important in God's plan.

How does our Christ-life grow? This growth centers around the themes of love. Our Christ-life grows as we open ourselves up to God's love in the sacraments, especially the eucharist. We grow in Christ through the love of God and man which is expressed in various types of meritorious actions performed in the state of grace. We grow in Christ when God in His love graciously answers our prayers through which we have petitioned Him to take deeper possession of us through, for instance, an increase of faith, hope and love. In summary, we grow in our Christ-life through the various dimensions of loving relationships with God and others. Love is all important. The other virtues are important to the degree that they are influenced by love and serve love.

       2. THE GRACED CHRISTIAN AND VARIOUS RELATIONSHIPS

Our life of grace establishes various relationships between the Christian, God and the rest of creation. The first to be considered is that between the Christian and the persons of the Trinity.

We should first give brief attention to certain theological principles and truths which have a relevance to any discussion involving our relationship to the three divine persons. One of these theological principles is that of appropriation. This is a mode of predication by which the properties and activities common to the three divine persons are especially attributed to one of the persons because of a property peculiar to this particular person. For instance, because of His fatherhood, we refer to God the Father as our Creator, although all three persons equally create. Therefore, we really have no proper relationship to the Father as our Creator, but only one based on appropriation. The process of our sanctification is also an action common to all three persons. But because it is a work of God's love for us, and since the Holy Spirit is the love existing between Father and Son, we appropriate sanctification to the Holy Spirit.

This principle of appropriation preserves the traditional Catholic teaching that all divine activities ad extra (outside of God) are common to the three persons. At the same time it manifests the differences between the divine persons and properties.

Yet many contemporary theologians are not satisfied in appealing only to the principle of appropriation as they strive to explain the relationship between the Christian and each of the divine persons. They maintain that scripture does not always seem to speak in an appropriated sense in describing our union with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Consequently, while adhering to the above principle concerning God's activity outside Himself, contemporary theologians are discussing the question of proper relationships between ourselves and each person of the Trinity. They do this by appealing to other than efficient causality. For instance, certain theologians, such as Karl Rahner, appeal to a quasi-formal type of causality in explaining the theology of the indwelling of the Trinity in the justified man.
8 Such an explanation, not based on the principle of appropriation, allows for a proper and more personal relation between the justified man and the three distinct persons.

Let us also note that in speaking of the Christian's union with Christ as man, there is the question of a proper and special relationship. This is true because among the divine persons only the Son possesses a human nature.

We have constructed our framework of reference for discussing the role of Father, Son and Holy Spirit in our lives. Having once established it, we are consequently relieved of the burden of describing in each instance the type of relationship we are discussing, whether it is based on appropriation or not.

      a) Relationship with the Father
The Heavenly Father has put each of us upon this earth because of His singular love for us as individuals. There is a countless number of merely possible human persons existing in the divine knowledge. Why has the Father given existence to me rather than to these "possibles" who will never exist? The ultimate answer lies in the mysterious free will of the Father. He has chosen to love me, to give me existence, to give me a grace-life.

In His love for me the Father has entrusted me with a great purpose. I have a loving service to give to God, to the Church, and to the world—a service which no one else can render. Each of us has been put here to fulfill a mission, to use our lives, not only for ourselves, but to labor through these lives for the glory of the Father and the benefit of men.

We tend to underestimate the value of our lives. Perhaps this is so because our faith is not what it should be. We would be astounded if we could see the potential of our lives as does our heavenly Father. We are great, not because of what we are in ourselves, but because of what our Father has already done for us, and because of what He wants to do for us—if only we allow Him.

Perhaps we would not be constantly tempted to underestimate the worth of our lives if we more often reflected upon some of the great examples of what God can accomplish through the life of one person. There has been a St. Augustine, a St. Dominic, a St. Francis of Assisi, a St. Thomas Aquinas, a St. Elizabeth, a St. Ignatius Loyola, a St. Thomas More, a St. John Vianney and many others. In and through their various vocations they have contributed profoundly to the work of Christ. Coming closer to our own day we have the example of Pope John XXIII and Dr. Thomas Dooley. These two lives, have they not left an indelible imprint upon the world of men? Can one life make a great difference to Church and world? The answer is obvious.

And yet, you might object, the examples just cited are lives of outstanding men and women. After all, how many are destined to walk across the stage of life in such dominant display before the eyes of men? We acknowledge, not very many. But there could well be numberless lives, almost completely hidden to the world, which have also contributed greatly to the cause of Christ. Perhaps, even, these hidden lives have at times given more to Christ and the world than have the lives of the canonized saints. God's ways are not always our ways, nor are His thoughts always our thoughts. Our heavenly Father can make use of the most obscure and insignificant life to accomplish great things.

Each Christian must strive to grow in the realization that the Father calls him to greatness. He accomplishes this purpose by the gradual development of his Christ-life. Whatever our particular purpose or mission in life may be, it will be authentically accomplished in proportion to the development of our grace-life in Christ. For our destiny in Christ includes all else. Our life of grace, in turn, develops around the all-embracive theme of the Father's will. The Father's will for me is what gives unity to my life. If I embrace this will, it holds together all the multitudinous threads of my existence, weaving them into a meaningful pattern—the achievement of my life's purpose.

Consequently, to grow in Christian holiness and to achieve my mission in life are supremely possible for me. Why? Because growth in the realization of my life's task is always commensurate with my Father's will for me here and now. His will for me is always proportionate to my present weakness on the one hand, and, on the other, to my present degree of spiritual maturity. Finally, His will for me always carries with it the necessary graces for accomplishing what He here and now asks.

As I reach out for my Father's will in love day after day, I am thereby dynamically developing my Christ-life, achieving my destiny, making my very important contribution to the evolving redemptive work of Christ.

The Father's will touches everything in my life. It wants to make all contribute to my growing maturity in Christ. Joy and sorrow, success and failure, work and play, ecstatic happiness and deep suffering, all of these are to be related to my Father's will. If I correspond to God's grace, His will as it permeates my total being and existence will unfailingly transform me.

As the Father's will transforms me, it thereby makes my life a success for myself and others. The only true measure of a successful life, despite possible appearances to the contrary, is whether or not it is conformed in love to the Father's will. The degree of success depends upon the degree of conformity. " 'It is not those who say to me, "Lord, Lord", who will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the person who does the will of my Father in heaven. When the day comes many will say to me, "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, cast out demons in your name, work many miracles in your name?" Then I shall tell them to their faces: I have never known you; away from me, you evil men!' " (Mt 7:21-23).

The above described Christian life is certainly impossible without God's grace. We must be deeply aware that grace is a gratuitous gift which we cannot achieve by our natural efforts. But God offers grace in abundance. Our problem is that we do not respond to grace as we should. We tend to minimize the Father's great designs for us. We are tempted not to take His words at face value, those which tell us of the fathomless love He has for each one of us, and what that love can accomplish in us. To help ourselves maintain the proper perspective in these matters, we should often remind ourselves of these words of St. Paul: "We were still helpless when at his appointed moment Christ died for sinful men. It is not easy to die even for a good man— though of course for someone really worthy, a man might be prepared to die—but what proves that God loves us is that Christ died for us while we were still sinners. Having died to make us righteous, is it likely he would now fail to save us from God's anger?" (Rm 5:6-9).

We have, therefore, an irrevocable and overwhelming testimony of the Father's love for us. Because of this love, the Christian can increasingly assimilate the Father's will in his own response of love. Through this mutual self-giving, God and the Christian are meant to be united in the deepest possible love.

The above passage from St. Paul not only tells us of the Father's great love for us, but it also tells us that this love has come to us through Christ and continues to do so. There is no other way. This is the eternal design of the Father. Our grace-life as well as all creation takes its meaning from Christ: "He has let us know the mystery of his purpose, the hidden plan he so kindly made in Christ from the beginning to act upon when the times had run their course to the end: that he would bring everything together under Christ, as head, everything in the heavens and everything on earth." (Ep 1:9-10).

Guiding Light - Reflect on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year (2011/2012)
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B     The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A    The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B    At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C    In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts
Inspiring Homilies by Fr. Joe Robinson

Audio CD - Read by Father Edward J. Carter
$ 10.00

Priestly Newsletter — 2000 #1 — CD.Christ is Our Strength — Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our—selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
