                R. Mary was the perfect handmaid
                    of the Lord –

Humility leads a person to seek
                    and fulfill God's appointed
                    task for him in life.

                We are God's creature –

God has a plan for us –

Priestly Newsletter Book II - September/October 1997

Scriptural Reflections

In all this Mary offers an example. Selfishness was totally foreign to her. She did not belong to herself. She belonged to God. She was not closed in upon herself. She was completely open to God. When God spoke, she listened. When God pointed the way, she followed. She realized that life is not a process a person masters by carefully mapping out one's own self-conceived plans of conquest, but a mystery to be gradually experienced by being open to God's personal and loving guidance.

Selfishness, then, did not close Mary off from God's call. Neither did fear. God asked her to assume a tremendous responsibility. He asked her to be the Mother of Jesus. Mary did not engage in a process of false humility and say that such a great role was above her. She did not say that she did not have the proper qualifications for this awesome mission. Briefly, she did not waste time looking at herself, making pleas that she was not worthy, telling the angel he had better go look for someone else. No, Mary did not look at herself. Her gaze was absorbed in God. She fully realized that whatever God asked of her, His grace would accomplish. She fully realized that although she herself had to cooperate, this work was much more God's than hers.

Mary's words, then, truly sum up what is the authentic Christian response at any point of life, in any kind of situation: "I am the handmaid of the Lord," said Mary, "let what you have said be done to me".

                R. Fr. Carter says "All of us at times
attempt to live too much in the
past or too much in the future."

This can be caused by lack of humility –

We are to live in the present moment –

We must be willing to accept humiliation
                    properly.

                Making amends for the wrongs
                    I have done are important.

I do not want to justify
                the wrongs I did.

When I could try to help a
                ruptured relationship by saying
I am sorry and telling the truth.

                    We must recognize we make
mistakes and be willing to correct
                them.

Dear God help me not to deceive myself
                    by self-justification concerning
                    wrongs I have committed that
I need to make amends for.

Why justify my actions when I
                    have acted incorrectly and
                    wronged or hurt others?

Why try to justify what is wrong?

Dear God help me to see myself
                    clearly and never justify
                    myself selfishly when
                    I have given into
                    wrong actions –

Dear God when I do what I
                should I have peace.

This Movement is about peace –

To help bring the era of peace –

                    When I do what I should –

When I am honest about myself –

When I make amends for –
                        wrong doing –

It will help my world to be
                        more lighted –

                    Telling the truth about
                        myself is a big thing.

Such a gift of God to use us as His
instrument to deliver His message of
                love to others.

We have received the gift of baptism,
but have been commissioned to go out
and to spread the Good News.

God asks us to help in the work
of redemption. Jesus gives us Himself in
the Eucharist, but God asks us to
make an offering of our lives, united
to the Mass, as members of the mystical
body of Christ, we are so one in our
hearts with the Mass, with each other
in the offering of all we do, all day
to God – We are one with our fellow
members of the mystical body of
                Christ – who offer themselves
and all they do – in the building
of the Kingdom – to God – to help
                in the work of redemption.

It is such a gift of profound
unity – The offering of our lives
to the Father, united to Jesus in
the Mass, in the Holy Spirit,
                through the powerful intercession
of Mary our Mother at our side,
with all the angels and saints
and the souls in purgatory –

Unity – so profound – so pleasing
to the Father – where His children are
united to one another and giving
themselves, their lives to God –
We give God honor in this – that
                we are obedient children –
We give God honor in that we
are united to the Mass in
                    everything all day – with
                    our brothers and sisters
                    in holy love –
the Mass is so pleasing to
                    God the Father -

                Unity, Unity, Unity –

There is a breathe of life that
                    comes from all our actions,
                    because we are consecrated
to God in all of them.

There is a power that comes from
this, that God is given an
open door from us to use
us, to operate in us in the
                    world.

That is why I love the Prayer for
                    Union with Jesus
– God
                    gave to us –
                    We step back –

We give Him full reign –

                We surrender ourselves –

We ask God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit
                    to possess our souls –

We are allowing God to come
                    and use us –

So we don't want to offend
                    God with selfishness,
                    and stubbornness –

                We want God's grace to
work in us and be this
                    empty vessel He wants
us to be all day –
                    united to the Mass –

I love the prayers God has given
                    to us –
                    the Morning Offering prayer –
                    the Prayer for Union –
                    the Holy Spirit prayer –
                    the Prayer for Intimacy with
                        the Lamb, the Bridegroom
                        of the Soul –

                Always obedience to God's will,
                    for a sister and brother
                    obedience to their Superior
                    is God's delight –
                    for a priest obedience to
                        their Bishop over them –
to a priest like Fr. Carter –
                        they took obedience so
                        seriously –

To a Franciscan they wear the
                    rope with the knots to
                    remind them of obedience,
                    poverty, chastity and obedience.

We are like Christ, when a religious
is obedient to the one over
                    them.

                Disobedience of religious to those
                    over them, must be seen
                    in the light of Christ
                    showed us obedience –
in the Agony in the Garden –
                    in the Crucifixion –

Everything is grace - His life in
                    us.

We open ourselves to God –

The prayers God gave are prayers –
                    to open ourselves to God
                    to be a servant –
                    to be under God –
to feel the power of the
                        unity God wants to
                        prepare us for heaven –
to use us – not so we can
                        be puffed up in pride,
                        and for serving our
                        sinful jealousy, anger
                        and envy –
but to use us for a holy work –
helping in the work of redemption –
being used as God operates in us –
the Holy Spirit moves in us –

We see disobedience to those over
                    us in religious life is
a serious matter to God –

                Fr. Carter never, never, disobeyed
                    his superiors and
                    he was so strong, his
                    voice never quivered that
                    he was under those
                    over him –

                Fr. Carter demanded obedience,
correction for me to give to
                    those out of line

                Fr. Carter served God –

                From the top down –

                Power comes from God –

When the devil works – he works
                    from those under to
                    disobey – the person
                    breaks the line of
                    authority by wanting
                    power from the bottom
                    up –

That is just what the devil
                    wants a break in
                    power coming from God –

The devil uses the person to
                    parade indigence at their
                    brazen disobedience –
                    Then they justify why their
                    wrongs are right.

They not only hurt the souls,
                    they discredit themselves
                    by disobedience and
                    breaks the power
                    coming from God –

                Disobedience for a religious,
Jesus says, is a very grave
                    matter –

                Instead of them dressing before
                    others as a religious and
                    representing what the
                    authority stands for –
                    union with God –
                    service to God –

                they operate and demand they
                    are on top –
                    defy authority –
                    and discredit themselves,
                    as reliable and taking
their promise and vow of the
                    consecrated life seriously.

Jesus showed us about obedience –

Fr. Carter showed us about obedience –

When I went to the Archbishop to ask
                    about the exposed Eucharist –
I went as the head and
                    co-founder of this
                    Movement –
I went to the authority –
                    the Archbishop told me
                        what to do –

When Fr. Carter wanted the Eucharist
                    in China – he went
                    to the Archbishop and the
                    Archbishop gave him the
                    privilege to have Masses and
                    reserve the Eucharist –

God works in order to use us
                    and we must always
                    obey that order if we
                    want His blessings
                    upon us

                Cutting off the power, coming
from the order He wants –
                    is breaking that
                    gift coming from above –

                Satan uses this
                    where the person
                    under discredits authority –
                    tells other to hide things
                        from authority –
                    works on their own as
                        the authority –
                    is disunified and serving
                        satan –

                And therefore is not receiving
                    the blessings in their
                    work from God as
                    they need to do it
as it should be done –

Order is how God works –

                Disobedience is how satan
                    works –
                    especially about sacred
                    matters –
                    satan can parade himself
                    in the actions of one
                    parading in defiance
                    and disobedience

Satan wants to use people to
                    do his dirty job of
                    defiance –

God wants to use us to
                    work in us –
to bring His message to the
                    world –

                A religious in defiance, working
                    alone is opening the door
                    to satan and then satan
                    keeps using them –

                God wants obedience of
religious to those over them –
                    God wants unity in the
                    community to brothers
                    and sisters –

This mission is to bring unity as
men live in one mind and
                    one heart with the Sacred
Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart.
