Sorrowful Mysteries

 

The Agony in the Garden

1. God has a plan for our lives.
    We need to seek God’s will for us in all things.

2. We see Jesus obeyed His Father’s will. Jesus said, “Not My will, but Thine be done."

3. What good does it do to win the world and lose your soul.

4. Love of God is doing God’s will. The weakness in the wounded human nature may say
    “I don’t want anybody telling me what to do.”

5. God has a plan for our lives. God has a unique plan for us to grow in holiness.

6. Growing in holiness, in the image of God is what is important.

7. God wants us eternally with Him in heaven. To do this we must grow in holiness.

8. Living God’s will takes surrender to God’s will.

9. Jesus showed us surrender in the Garden. Jesus suffered so much, knowing all men’s sins and, some still losing their soul.
    Jesus sweat blood in anguish.

10. Jesus gave Himself for our sins.

 

The Scourging at the Pillar

1. Envision the surrender of Jesus at the pillar, Jesus, the Son of God.

2. Think of Jesus tied there and different men beat Him, with whips that tore His flesh and blood gauged out.

3. Jesus knew the tears in His flesh before they even whipped Him and He endured this in such surrender for our sins.

4. Oh Jesus, forgive us, please give us the grace we need most.

5. We have a free will, we can say “no” to God and resist doing what God is calling us to do.

6. God is helping us to grow in His image and likeness.

7. Jesus surrendered at the pillar, Jesus paid the price for our sins.

8. Oh Jesus, I’m so sorry for offending You with My sins.

9. We have a free will to obey and serve God or try to be on top doing our will.

10. What does Jesus being tied and whipped at the pillar teach us about doing the Father’s will?
    What does the scourging at the pillar teach us about surrender?

 

Jesus was Crowned with Thorns

1. Endurance to pain, to torture, to whippings, Jesus showed us surrender, obedience, endurance, love.

2. Why did Jesus show us this terrible treatment and pain, mocking, the Son of God?

3. We are so small compared to the universe. Jesus died for us.

4. Jesus showed us surrender, love, giving.
    Giving for a greater good, giving for others. Giving for love.

5. God cares for us so much.

John 3:16

For this is how God loved the world:
he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him 
    may not perish
but may have eternal life.
 

6. God loves us so much and we love others, where does this love come from.
    God is the source of love.

7. We meditate on the love Jesus gave for us when we meditate on the Mysteries of His life.

8. Equations, knowledge of things can be easy compared to learning lessons of changing strong, selfish wills, and pride.

9. Life is fragile. Everyday is a gift God gives us to live and follow His Plan.

10. Living God’s will in love is the essence of the spiritual life.

 

The Carrying of the Cross

1. Many people today in the body of Christ are carrying heavy crosses.

2. In sickness, death, families: there are many sufferings in this world.

3. There are pains and joys in life, misunderstandings, etc.

4. We don’t know the future!! We can plan, but something can happen. Jesus carried His cross, with the weight of the sins of the world.

5. Jesus carried the cross willingly because He loves us so much. Jesus paid the price for our sins.

6. Jesus fell under the cross 3 times. They poked at Him and hollered at Him to get up.
    The cross fell on Jesus.

7. Simon of Cyrene was forced to help Jesus with the cross.

8. Veronica wiped the bloody face of Jesus.

9. Jesus’ legs, His shoulder felt as if it would break.

10. Jesus was nailed to the cross. They stretched His arms and nailed them with big nails to the cross.
    They nailed Jesus’ feet to the cross.

 

The Crucifixion

1. The cross leads to life when we endure it according to God’s will.

2. Death / Resurrection, the pascal mystery.

3. Jesus hung on the hill of Calvary for 3 agonizing hours to His death on the cross.
    Jesus was crucified with two thieves, one to the right of Jesus, one to the left of Jesus.

4. One thief said to Jesus, "Remember me when you come into Your Kingdom."

5. One thief was hard in heart and would not repent.

Luke 23: 39

One of the criminals hanging there abused him: 'Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us as well.'

6. Jesus shows us how precious we are to God that He died for us.

7.  Mary stood beneath the cross.

Mary‘s Message - from the Rosary of August 27, 1996

Mary:  I stood beneath the cross of my Son, and my Heart was in such pain for I saw Him before my eyes. I saw Him covered with blood. I saw Him die. My Heart, my children, my Heart to watch my Son, but my Heart, my Heart, how I suffered for my little children of the world that give in to this world and give up the love of my Son. O my little children of light, I give you this message. Carry this light into the darkness for your Mother Mary, for I stood beneath the cross and I cried. I cried for the little ones. I cried for the young ones, the ones that do not care and will lose their souls. How do I make you see for you will not listen to me? What can I do? I come. I appear. I beg. I plead. I give you these gifts from my Son, and you reject me. I do not deliver messages very often anymore for I have been ignored. The message is the same. You do not read the messages I have given to you. Please help me. Help the little children. I appear. I appear. I appear, and I am ignored. I stood beneath the cross, and I cried. I cried, and my Heart was in such anguish for my little children, for I am searching for them this day as I searched for the Child Jesus. Please, please help me. 8. Jesus gave us His Mother from the cross.
    Jesus’ thoughts were on us.

9. Matthew 27: 45-54

The death of Jesus

From the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land until the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, ‘Eli, eli, lama sabachthani?’ that is, ‘My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?’ When some of those who stood there heard this, they said, ‘The man is calling on Elijah,’ and one of them quickly ran to get a sponge which he filled with vinegar and, putting it on a reed, gave it him to drink. But the rest of them said, ‘Wait! And see if Elijah will come to save him.’ But Jesus, again crying out in a loud voice, yielded up his spirit. 

    And suddenly, the veil of the Sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom, the earth quaked, the rocks were split, the tombs opened and the bodies of many holy people rose from the dead, and these, after his resurrection, came out of the tombs, entered the holy city and appeared to a number of people. The centurion, together with the others guarding Jesus, had seen the earthquake and all that was taking place, and they were terrified and said, ‘In truth this man was son of God.’ 
 

10. They pierced Jesus’ Heart after His death with a soldier’s lance and blood and water came out.
    Water a symbol of baptism, Blood a symbol of the Eucharist.

    Jesus died and wants us to ask Him for forgiveness of our sins.
    We are all sinners, Jesus loves us so much He died a brutal death for us.

    Oh Jesus, I’m sorry for my sins, please forgive me, I’m sorry for offending God, please forgive me. Amen.

 

R. Forgiveness is golden.
In life we make mistakes.
We are not perfect.
We are wounded.

God created us in His image and likeness.

What’s important to God is we grow in holiness.
God is leading us to greater holiness.

Many think we should try to conquer the world.

God wants Holy hearts.

God wants us to follow Jesus.

We are to love God with our whole heart, our whole soul and our whole being and love our neighbor as ourselves.

It is so beautiful to see people bend their stubborn wills and love God and serve God and love others.

Love finds a way.

Jesus’ Heart is full of burning love.

Jesus’ Heart is on fire with love for us.

Life is so fragile, when people need us in sickness, we need to help.
Look how Jesus loved us and gave Himself for us.

Oh Jesus. I love You so much.
What we do to others, we do to Jesus.

Mary is our Mother and she loves us more than any earthly mother.
God always listens to us, even when we turn our back on Him.
Jesus loves us.

God the Father is our Heavenly Father who loves us so much.
   

John 3:16

For this is how God loved the world:
he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him 
    may not perish
but may have eternal life.
 

R. We are precious to God. He loves us no matter how much we have suffered.
   

1 John 4: 17-21

Love comes to its perfection in us when we can face the Day of Judgement fearlessly, because even in this world we have become as he is. In love there is no room for fear, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear implies punishment and no one who is afraid has come to perfection in love. Let us love, then, because he first loved us. Anyone who says 'I love God' and hates his brother, is a liar, since whoever does not love the brother whom he can see cannot love God whom he has not seen. Indeed this is the commandment we have received from him, that whoever loves God, must also love his brother.
 

R. We are called to love.
People need our love.
We are called to serve, to be Jesus to each other, to love, to help each other, to understand.

God is love, when we love according to God’s will, we are most like Jesus.

Jesus says:

I love you!!!
I love you!!
I love you!

R. Someday, if we loved and served the Lord, we will be with God forever and ever in heaven.

This is what God the Father created us for to go back to Him.

God loved us first!!

Love gives, for the joy of giving.
