Matthew 8: 18-22

When Jesus saw the crowd all about him he gave orders to leave for the other side. One of the scribes then came up and said to him, ‘Master, I will follow you wherever you go.’ Jesus said, ‘Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.’

Another man, one of the disciples, said to him, ‘Lord, let me go and bury my father first.’ But Jesus said, ‘Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead.’

Genesis 21: 5, 8-20

Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.

The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham gave a great banquet on the day Isaac was weaned. Now Sarah watched the son that Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham, playing with her son Isaac. "Drive away that slave-girl and her son," she said to Abraham, "this slave-girl's son is not to share the inheritance with my son Isaac." This greatly distressed Abraham, because the slave-girl's child too was his son, but God said to him, "Do not distress yourself on account of the boy and your slave-girl. Do whatever Sarah says, for Isaac is the one through whom your name will be carried on. But the slave-girl's son I shall also make into a great nation, for he too is your child." Early next morning, Abraham took some bread and a skin of water and, giving them to Hagar, put the child on her shoulder and sent her away. She wandered off into the desert of Beersheba.

When the skin of water was finished she abandoned the child under a bush. Then she went and sat down at a distance, about a bowshot away, thinking, "I cannot bear to see the child die." Sitting at a distance, she began to sob.

God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven. "What is wrong, Hagar?" he asked. "Do not be afraid, for God has heard the boy's cry in his plight. Go and pick the boy up and hold him safe, for I shall make him into a great nation." Then God opened Hagar's eyes and she saw a well, so she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink.

God was with the boy. He grew up and made his home in the desert, and he became an archer. He made his home in the desert of Paran, and his mother got him a wife from Egypt.

God calls and we are to answer

                God wants our response

                We have a free will

Matthew 9: 28-34

And when Jesus reached the house the blind men came up to him and he said to them, ‘Do you believe I can do this?’ They said, ‘Lord, we do.’ Then he touched their eyes saying, ‘According to your faith, let it be done to you.’ And their sight returned. Then Jesus sternly warned them, ‘Take care that no one learns about this.’ But when they had gone away, they talked about him all over the countryside.

They had only just left when suddenly a man was brought to him, a dumb demoniac. And when the devil was driven out, the dumb man spoke and the people were amazed and said, ‘Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel.’ But the Pharisees said, ‘It is through the prince of devils that he drives out devils.’

God calls us to grow in

Mary: My dear children, I give to you, my Son, Jesus, born in a stable in Bethlehem on Christmas morn. He is the Almighty God, the Light of the World.

I appear to you, my children, on a (former) bank in Florida. You have made money your god! Do you know how cold are your hearts? You turn away from my Son, Jesus, for yor money. Your money is your god.

I am Mary, your Mother. I do not appear as I once appeared to you. I am asking you today to circulate my message given on a tape on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12, 1996. Please circulate this tape now. Give it to as many people as you can. I am Mary, your Mother. Please circulate my Rosary Book.

Money should be used for the
                    honor and glory of God

Using it to help build God's Kingdom.

                People do not recognize

                    attachment to money as
                    as attachment many times

To be attached to pleasures of the
                    earth

Luke 12: 16-21

Then he told them a parable, ‘There was once a rich man who, having had a good harvest from his land, thought to himself, "What am I to do? I have not enough room to store my crops." Then he said, "This is what I will do: I will pull down my barns and build bigger ones, and store all my grain and my goods in them, and I will say to my soul: My soul, you have plenty of good things laid by for many years to come; take things easy, eat, drink, have a good time." But God said to him, "Fool! This very night the demand will be made for your soul; and this hoard of yours, whose will it be then?" So it is when someone stores up treasure for himself instead of becoming rich in the sight of God.’

There is perfect poverty, chastity and
                    obedience in heaven

Jesus wants us to follow in
                    His footprints

Take up our cross and follow
                    Jesus

Genesis 3: 19

By the sweat of your face
    will you earn you food,
until you return to the ground,
as you were taken from it.
    For dust you are
and to dust you shall return.

 Amos 8: 4-6, 9-12

Listen to this, you who crush the needy
and reduce the oppressed to nothing,
you who say,
‘When will New Moon be over
so that we can sell our corn,
and Sabbath, so that we can market
    our wheat?
Then, we can make
    the bushel–measure smaller
and the shekel–weight bigger,
by fraudulently tampering
    with the scales.
We can buy up the weak for silver
and the poor for a pair of sandals,
and even get a price
for the sweepings of the wheat.’

‘On that Day–
    declares the Lord Yahweh–
I shall make the sun go down at noon
and darken the earth in broad daylight.
I shall turn your festivals into mourning
and all your singing into lamentation;
I shall make you all wear sacking
    round your waists
and have all your heads shaved.
I shall make it like the mourning
    for an only child,
and it will end like the bitterest of days.

‘The days are coming–
    declares the Lord Yahweh–
when I shall send a famine on the country,
not hunger for food, not thirst for water,
but famine for hearing Yahweh’s word.
People will stagger from sea to sea,
will wander from the north to the east,
searching for Yahweh’s word,
but will not find it.

Psalm 119: 2, 10, 20, 30, 40

Blessed are those who observe his instructions,
who seek him with all their hearts,

With all my heart I seek you,
do not let me stray from your commandments.

My heart is pining away with longing
at all times for your judgements.

I have chosen the way of constancy,
I have moulded myself to your judgements.

See how I yearn for your precepts;
in your saving justice give me life.

                1st Readings Today

Genesis 19: 15-29

When dawn broke the angels urged Lot on, "To your feet! Take your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city."And as he hesitated, the men seized his hand and the hands of his wife and his two daughters — Yahweh being merciful to him — and led him out and left him outside the city.

When they had brought him outside, he was told, "Flee for your life. Do not look behind you or stop anywhere on the plain. Flee to the hills or you will be swept away." "Oh no, my lord!" Lot said to them, "You have already been very good to your servant and shown me even greater love by saving my life, but I cannot flee to the hills, or disaster will overtake me and I shall die. That town over there is near enough to flee to, and is small. Let me flee there — after all it is only a small place — and so survive."He replied, "I grant you this favor too, and will not overthrow the town you speak of. Hurry, flee to that one, for I cannot do anything until you reach it." That is why the town is named Zoar.

The sun rose over the horizon just as Lot was entering Zoar. Then Yahweh rained down on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire of his own sending. He overthrew those cities and the whole plain, with all the people living in the cities and everything that grew there. But Lot's wife looked back, and was turned into a pillar of salt.

Next morning, Abraham hurried to the place where he had stood before Yahweh, and looking towards Sodom and Gomorrah and the whole area of the plain, he saw the smoke rising from the ground like smoke from a furnace.

Thus it was that, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, he did not forget Abraham and he rescued Lot from the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities where Lot was living.

                Don't look back

                Be obedient

Obedience is what God wants —

Lot's wife looked back and she was
turned into a pillar of salt —

God overthrew the cities where Lot
                    had been living —

God gives us mercy if we pray for mercy and try to please Him
Our hearts are to be true —

Not lying to ourselves about our wrong
                    doings —

Matthew 8: 23-27

Then he got into the boat followed by his disciples. Suddenly a storm broke over the lake, so violent that the boat was being swamped by the waves. But he was asleep. So they went to him and woke him saying, ‘Save us, Lord, we are lost!’ And he said to them, ‘Why are you so frightened, you who have so little faith?’ And then he stood up and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. They were astounded and said, ‘Whatever kind of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?’

Angels tell Lot and wife to leave
                    Lot doesn't want to leave
                    Lot objects to angels' message
                    Strong instruction don't look
                        back
But Lot's wife looked back and
she turned into a pillar of salt —

We are not to look back

God the Father sent Jesus, the Savior

We look forward to second coming —
                    to glory of God

                Don't look back

                Confession — don't look back

Don't give into old habits —
in us - we give into.

Jesus is in boat, but if they drown
Jesus would be in the same
boat — Jesus calms wind and sea —

Apostles should focus on fact Jesus
                    could calm the sea

                The priest said at Mass
To the ancients the sea could denote
                        evil spirits
Jesus can cast out demons —
Jesus will see the boat comes to
                        safe harbor

Jesus has the words of eternal life —

In the storm in the world today —
We have Jesus truly present in the
                        Eucharist through the consecrated
                        hands of our priests —

We see the boat on troubled waters —
                        Jesus calms the storm —
We see our struggling world —

We must pray for our Church who
can lead us in the troubled waters
in this world - of sin - of the influence
                    of the devil —

We know Jesus is the head of the Church —
                    Jesus is with us

We as members of the mystical body
                    of Christ can help strengthen
                    the world, the Church by
                    living more deeply as members
of the mystical body of Christ —

We must pray for our priests and the Church
pray for the members of the mystical
body to live deeply their calling —
                    commissioned in baptism —

and pray to the Father, in the Holy Spirit, through
the intercession of Mary with all

purgatory praying for the priests, the
                    Church and the world —

Morning Offering (for Shepherds of Christ Members)

My dear Father, I offer You this day all my prayers, works, joys and sufferings, my every breath, my every heartbeat, my every thought, all my actions, in union with Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in the Holy Spirit. I pray the Holy Spirit is with me every second today, enlightening me to do the will of the Father and filling me with the fire of God's love.

I ask Jesus and Mary to be one in me in all that I do and I unite with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory to pray continually to the Father for these intercessions, in this prayer, for this day.

For myself, I pray for grace-abundant grace, to know and love God more and more and to follow the will of the Father. I pray to the Holy Spirit to transform me in the heart of Mary to be more and more like Jesus. I pray that I can forever dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. I pray for conversion of all those I hold dear who need conversion. I pray for each member of my family that they will be filled with Your abundant grace to grow in their knowledge and love of God.

I pray for all my friends that they will receive abundant grace to carry out the great plan of the Father, that they will grow forever closer to Jesus' Heart through Mary's heart, that we will all be led by the Holy Spirit to do His work, that we will, together, carry out the plan of the Father as He intends us to, to spread the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mary's heart to this world.

Jesus, I pray for myself so the Holy Spirit descends upon me and opens my heart to Your love so I will grow more and more deeply in union with You. I pray that I do not worry what other people think but try always to please the Father and do His will. I pray that I may help lead many to Your burning love.

I pray for the following people in particular that they will be filled with the Spirit and grow deeply in their union with You, that they will receive abundant graces to know, love and serve You more. (Include special friends by name...)

I pray for priests the world over, for the success of the Priestly Newsletter, the Chapters and for the finances needed for the Newsletter. I pray for the circulation of the Blue Book messages, rosary meditations and tapes. I pray for all those involved in the publication of these messages.

I pray that You will shower Your abundant graces onto the priests reading the Newsletter the people reading and hearing the Blue Book messages and Rosary Meditations and all of Fr. Carter's publications.

We pray for the intentions we hold deep within our hearts, for our families and friends, for those requesting our prayers. We pray for children the world over and for the souls in purgatory. We ask God to shower His abundant grace on us and the members of our Shepherds of Christ chapter so that we may grow more and more in our knowledge and love of God.

We consecrate ourselves to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. We pray for Father Carter, for Father Smith, for Rita Ring, and for John Weickert, for all leaders and helpers in the Shepherds of Christ Movement, for Shepherds of Christ Ministries, and Our Lady of Light Ministry. We pray for all those who are working in these ministries.

We bind ourselves and our children and our friends to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We place the precious blood of Jesus on ourselves, and all we touch, so that we will be protected from the evil one. We pray to St. Michael to cast the devil into hell.

We love You, God, we love You, we love You. We beg that we may receive the grace to love You more and more deeply. We adore You, we praise You, our beloved Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Morning Offering

My dear Father, I offer you this day all my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings in union with Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, in the Holy Spirit.

I unite with our Mother Mary, all the angels and saints, and all the souls in purgatory to pray to the Father for myself, for each member of my family, for my friends, for all people throughout the world, for all the souls in purgatory, and for all other intentions of the Sacred Heart.

I love You, Jesus, and I give You my heart. I love you, Mary, and I give you my heart.

A Prayer before the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

Let me be a holy sacrifice and unite with God in the sacrament of His greatest love.

I want to be one in Him in this act of love, where He gives Himself to me and I give myself as a sacrifice to Him. Let me be a holy sacrifice as I become one with Him in this my act of greatest love to Him.

Let me unite with Him more, that I may more deeply love Him. May I help make reparation to His adorable Heart and the heart of His Mother, Mary. With greatest love, I offer myself to You and pray that You will accept my sacrifice of greatest love. I give myself to You and unite in Your gift of Yourself to me. Come and possess my soul.

Cleanse me, strengthen me, heal me. Dear Holy Spirit act in the heart of Mary to make me more and more like Jesus.

Father, I offer this my sacrifice, myself united to Jesus in the Holy Spirit to You. Help me to love God more deeply in this act of my greatest love.

Give me the grace to grow in my knowledge, love and service of You and for this to be my greatest participation in the Mass. Give me the greatest graces to love You so deeply in this Mass, You who are so worthy of my love.

TAKE, LORD, AND RECEIVE

Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory,
my understanding, and my entire will, all that I have
and possess. Thou hast given all to me. To Thee, O
Lord, I return it. All is Thine, dispose of it wholly
according to Thy will. Give me Thy love and Thy
grace, for this is sufficient for me.

 Prayer from St. Ignatius

Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
To give and not to count the cost;
To fight and not to heed the wounds;
To toil and not to seek for rest;
To labor and not to ask for any reward,
Save that of knowing
that I am doing your will.

        Prayer of St Ignatius

Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from the side of Christ wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Permit me not to be separated from Thee
From the wicked foe defend me
at the hour of my death call me
and bid me come to Thee
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee
For ever and ever. Amen.

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

                God wants intimacy with us

We have a wounded human nature

We must die to the ways that are
                    not likened to Him, disciplining
                    our wills.

When we do a retreat, in our daily lives —
we must discern the spirits —

The Holy Spirit leads us to peace and joy and
counsels us to do the will
                    of God.

We have a free will, we must discern
                    the spirits —

St. Ignatius says this in the Spiritual Exercises
we believe were given by Our Blessed Mother,
                    our spiritual mother —

The evil spirit wants to tempt us to give
into our wounded human nature —
                    tendencies toward impurities,
                    jealousy, anger, envy, lust, greed,
                    slothfulness, seeking dominance for
                    dominance sake —

Giving into these impure ways hurt our
                    relationship with God

We are miserable — the more we are not united
                    to God —

Some people have made themselves their own god —
the more we move away from God, the more
                    miserable we become because we
were created for God and in
that lies our joy, our happiness —

                Song: God's Love

So St. Ignatius gives us the spiritual exercises —

                We must discern

                    - if we are listening to the Holy Spirit guiding us to peace
and love and joy — unity, happiness in
                        our oneness with God

                        or

                    - if the evil spirit is tempting us to give
into our wounded human nature —
                        tendencies that take us away
from God — that we rebel against
                        God's will

We see with distorted vision —
We see God with distorted vision —
We see others with distorted vision —
We see ourselves with distorted vision —

Eyes of jealousy, impure habits we give
                    into inside us

We are on a journey to be converted —
to live to be more perfect like our
                        heavenly Father is perfect —

We were created in the image and likeness
                    of God —

God wants us to be as He intended us
to be — the ideal self —

The world, the Church and the individual
Christian are in the state of becoming —
We are to grow — always grow —
dying to those ways not likened to
                    God —

We can choose a little cubby hole, a
routine we feel comfortable with —

This can be a spiritual trap —

Look at the lepers in the Gospel —
                    God healed

We have lots of work to be likened more and
                    more like Jesus —
the person that settles in can be living
in a trap with rules of their own
                        making —

God tells us not to be lethargic, but to live —

That the lift of Christ is in us —
That we are on fire for love of God and
                        others and
answering our call from God —

In the spiritual life — you don't just
                    coast —

What spirit is filling you —

Excerpts of The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, by Louis J. Puhl, S.J. pp. 141-150

313. RULES FOR DISCERNMENT OF SPIRITS
I

Rules for understanding to some extent the different movements produced in the soul and for recognizing those that are good to admit them, and those that are bad, to reject them. These rules are more suited to the first week

314.  I.  In the case of those who go from one mortal sin to another, the enemy is ordinarily accustomed to propose apparent pleasures. He fills their imagination with sensual delights and gratifications, the more readily to keep them in their vices and increase the number of their sins.

With such persons the good spirit uses a method which is the reverse of the above. Making use of the light of reason, he will rouse the sting of conscience and fill them with remorse.

315.  2.  In the case of those who go on earnestly striving to cleanse their souls from sin and who seek to rise in the service of God our Lord to greater perfection, the method pursued is the opposite of that mentioned in the first rule.

Then it is characteristic of the evil spirit to harass with anxiety, to afflict with sadness, to raise obstacles backed by fallacious reasonings that disturb the soul. Thus he seeks to prevent the soul from advancing.

It is characteristic of the good spirit, however, to give courage and strength, consolations, tears, inspirations, and peace. This He does by making all easy, by removing all obstacles so that the soul goes forward in doing good.

316.  3.  SPIRITUAL CONSOLATION.  I call it consolation when an interior movement is aroused in the soul, by which it is inflamed with love of its Creator and Lord, and as a consequence, can love no creature on the face of the earth for its own sake, but only in the Creator of them all. It is likewise consolation when one sheds tears that move to the love of God, whether it be because of sorrow for sins, or because of the sufferings of Christ our Lord, or for any other reason that is immediately directed to the praise and service of God. Finally, I call consolation every increase of faith, hope, and love, and all interior joy that invites and attracts to what is heavenly and to the salvation of one's soul by filling it with peace and quiet in its Creator and Lord.

317.  4.  SPIRITUAL DESOLATION.  I call desolation what is entirely the opposite of what is described in the third rule, as darkness of soul, turmoil of spirit, inclination to what is low and earthly, restlessness rising from many disturbances and temptations which lead to want of faith, want of hope, want of love. The soul is wholly slothful, tepid, sad, and separated, as it were, from its Creator and Lord. For just as consolation is the opposite of desolation, so the thoughts that spring from consolation are the opposite of those that spring from desolation.

318.  5.  In time of desolation we should never make any change, but remain firm and constant in the resolution and decision which guided us the day before the desolation, or in the decision to which we adhered in the preceding consolation. For just as in consolation the good spirit guides and counsels us, so in desolation the evil spirit guides and counsels. Following his counsels we can never find the way to a right decision.

319.  6.  Though in desolation we must never change our former resolutions, it will be very advantageous to intensify our activity against the desolation. We can insist more upon prayer, upon meditation, and on much examination of ourselves. We can make an effort in a suitable way to do some penance.

320.  7.  When one is in desolation, he should be mindful that God has left him to his natural powers to resist the different agitations and temptations of the enemy in order to try him. He can resist with the help of God, which always remains, though he may not clearly perceive it. For though God has taken from him the abundance of fervor and overflowing love and the intensity of His favors, nevertheless, he has sufficient grace for eternal salvation.

321.  8.  When one is in desolation, he should strive to persevere in patience. This reacts against the vexations that have overtaken him. Let him consider, too, that consolation will soon return, and in the meantime, he must diligently use the means against desolation which have been given in the sixth rule.

322.  9.  The principal reasons why we suffer from desolation are three:

The first is because we have been tepid and slothful or negligent in our exercises of piety, and so through our own fault spiritual consolation has been taken away from us.

The second reason is because God wishes to try us, to see how much we are worth, and how much we will advance in His service and praise when left without the generous reward of consolations and signal favors.

The third reason is because God wishes to give us a true knowledge and understanding of ourselves, so that we may have an intimate perception of the fact that it is not within our power to acquire and attain great devotion, intense love, tears, or any other spiritual consolation; but that all this is the gift and grace of God our Lord. God does not wish us to build on the property of another, to rise up in spirit in a certain pride and vainglory and attribute to ourselves the devotion and other effects of spiritual consolation.

323.  10.  When one enjoys consolation, let him consider how he will conduct himself during the time of ensuing desolation, and store up a supply of strength as defense against that day.

324.  11.  He who enjoys consolation should take care to humble himself and lower himself as much as possible. Let him recall how little he is able to do in time of desolation, when he is left without such grace or consolation.

On the other hand, one who suffers desolation should remember that by making use of the sufficient grace offered him, he can do much to withstand all his enemies. Let him find his strength in his Creator and Lord.

325.  12.  The enemy conducts himself as a woman. He is a weakling before a show of strength, and a tyrant if he has his will. It is characteristic of a woman in a quarrel with a man to lose courage and take to flight if the man shows that he is determined and fearless. However, if the man loses courage and begins to flee, the anger, vindictiveness, and rage of the woman surge up and know no bounds. In the same way, the enemy becomes weak, loses courage, and turns to flight with his seductions as soon as one leading a spiritual life faces his temptations boldly, and does exactly the opposite of what he suggests. However, if one begins to be afraid and to lose courage in temptations, no wild animal on earth can be more fierce than the enemy of our human nature. He will carry out his perverse intentions with consummate malice.

326.  13.  Our enemy may also be compared in his manner of acting to a false lover. He seeks to remain hidden and does not want to be discovered. If such a lover speaks with evil intention to the daughter of a good father, or to the wife of a good husband, and seeks to seduce them, he wants his words and solicitations kept secret. He is greatly displeased if his evil suggestions and depraved intentions are revealed by the daughter to her father, or by the wife to her husband. Then he readily sees he will not succeed in what he has begun. In the same way, when the enemy of our human nature tempts a just soul with his wiles and seductions, he earnestly desires that they be received secretly and kept secret. But if one manifests them to a confessor, or to some other spiritual person who understands his deceits and malicious designs, the evil one is very much vexed. For he knows that he cannot succeed in his evil undertaking, once his evident deceits have been revealed.

327.  14.  The conduct of our enemy may also be compared to the tactics of a leader intent upon seizing and plundering a position he desires. A commander and leader of an army will encamp, explore the fortifications and defenses of the stronghold, and attack at the weakest point. In the same way, the enemy of our human nature investigates from every side all our virtues, theological, cardinal, and moral. Where he finds the defenses of eternal salvation weakest and most deficient, there he attacks and tries to take us by storm.

328. RULES FOR DISCERNMENT OF SPIRITS
II

Further rules for understanding the different movements produced in the soul. They serve for a more accurate discernment of spirits and are more suitable for the second week

329.  I.  It is characteristic of God and His Angels, when they act upon the soul, to give true happiness and spiritual joy, and to banish all the sadness and disturbances which are caused by the enemy.
It is characteristic of the evil one to fight against such happiness and consolation by proposing fallacious reasonings, subtilties, and continual deceptions.

330.  2.  God alone can give consolation to the soul without any previous cause. It belongs solely to the Creator to come into a soul, to leave it, to act upon it, to draw it wholly to the love of His Divine Majesty. I said without previous cause, that is, without any preceding perception or knowledge of any subject by which a soul might be led to such a consolation through its own acts of intellect and will.

331.  3.  If a cause precedes, both the good angel and the evil spirit can give consolation to a soul, but for a quite different purpose. The good angel consoles for the progress of the soul, that it may advance and rise to what is more perfect. The evil spirit consoles for purposes that are the contrary, and that afterwards he might draw the soul to his own perverse intentions and wickedness.

332.  4.  It is a mark of the evil spirit to assume the appearance of an angel of light. He begins by suggesting thoughts that are suited to a devout soul, and ends by suggesting his own. For example, he will suggest holy and pious thoughts that are wholly in conformity with the sanctity of the soul. Afterwards, he will endeavor little by little to end by drawing the soul into his hidden snares and evil designs.

333.  5.  We must carefully observe the whole course of our thoughts. If the beginning and middle and end of the course of thoughts are wholly good and directed to what is entirely right, it is a sign that they are from the good angel. But the course of thoughts suggested to us may terminate in something evil, or distracting, or less good than the soul had formerly proposed to do. Again, it may end in what weakens the soul, or disquiets it; or by destroying the peace, tranquility, and quiet which it had before, it may cause disturbance to the soul. These things are a clear sign that the thoughts are proceeding from the evil spirit, the enemy of our progress and eternal salvation.

334.  6.  When the enemy of our human nature has been detected and recognized by the trail of evil marking his course and by the wicked end to which he leads us, it will be profitable for one who has been tempted to review immediately the whole course of the temptation. Let him consider the series of good thoughts, how they arose, how the evil one gradually attempted to make him step down from the state of spiritual delight and joy in which he was, till finally he drew him to his wicked designs. The purpose of this review is that once such an experience has been understood and carefully observed, we may guard ourselves for the future against the customary deceits of the enemy.

335.  7.  In souls that are progressing to greater perfection, the action of the good angel is delicate, gentle, delightful. It may be compared to a drop of water penetrating a sponge.
The action of the evil spirit upon such souls is violent, noisy, and disturbing. It may be compared to a drop of water falling upon a stone.
In souls that are going from bad to worse, the action of the spirits mentioned above is just the reverse. The reason for this is to be sought in the opposition or similarity of these souls to the different kinds of spirits. When the disposition is contrary to that of the spirits, they enter with noise and commotion that are easily perceived. When the disposition is similar to that of the spirits, they enter silently, as one coming into his own house when the doors are open.

336.  8.  When consolation is without previous cause, as was said, there can be no deception in it, since it can proceed from God our Lord only. But a spiritual person who has received such a consolation must consider it very attentively, and must cautiously distinguish the actual time of the consolation from the period which follows it. At such a time the soul is still fervent and favored with the grace and aftereffects of the consolation which has passed. In this second period the soul frequently forms various resolutions and plans which are not granted directly by God our Lord. They may come from our own reasoning on the relations of our concepts and on the consequences of our judgments, or they may come from the good or evil spirit. Hence, they must be carefully examined before they are given full approval and put into execution.

                The angels who fell said

                    "We won't serve You, God"

                The devil is hate —

He wants us not to love —

                He keeps working —

The devils who fell looked inward —
                    instead of outward —

Look at the message of October 10, 2007

Look outward at God's creation —
                    studying God's creation —
Seeing the Magnificence of God's gifts
                        to us

                    Thanking God

Not being trapped by the temptation of satan
that wants us to focus on ourselves and
be sad and what we don't have —

When we get more and more self-focused our
vision is more and more distorted —
looking inward, instead of outward —
                    seeing our distorted reality and
expecting others to live in it —

We are always opening up to God —
                    learning about God —
His vastness in creation, the ocean —
the sky — the sands of the sea-shore —
tell us about the mystery of His
                    magnificence —
                    Why the planets don't crash
Why we stay alive and breathe because
of how He gives us life —

What do we do with this life —
                    because slothful —
get in dysfunctional habits that make
us sad and dis-empower us —

Don't get in little cubby holes — routines
                    where you quit living —
where you give into dysfunctional ways —

                The devil is cunning —
He wants you to not be filled with
                        life for God's service —

Jesus came a baby into the world —

Jesus is the perfect Son of God

Joyful Mysteries

                The Annunciation

                (1)

Luke 1: 26-38

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. He went in and said to her, ‘Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favour! The Lord is with you.’ She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean, but the angel said to her, ‘Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour. Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; he will rule over the House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.’ Mary said to the angel, ‘But how can this come about, since I have no knowledge of man?’ The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. And I tell you this too: your cousin Elizabeth also, in her old age, has conceived a son, and she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month, for nothing is impossible to God.’ Mary said, ‘You see before you the Lord’s servant, let it happen to me as you have said.’ And the angel left her.

                (2) Mary said yes to God.

                (3) Mary was filled with the Holy Spirit —

                (4) Mary obeyed the will of God always

                (5) Mary was conceived without sin.

                (6) Mary and Jesus are our model for the spiritual life.

                (7)

Romans 8: 5-9

Those who are living by their natural inclinations have their minds on the things human nature desires; those who live in the Spirit have their minds on spiritual things. And human nature has nothing to look forward to but death, while the Spirit looks forward to life and peace, because the outlook of disordered human nature is opposed to God, since it does not submit to God's Law, and indeed it cannot, and those who live by their natural inclinations can never be pleasing to God. You, however, live not by your natural inclinations, but by the Spirit, since the Spirit of God has made a home in you. Indeed, anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

                (8)

Romans 8: 14-17

All who are guided by the Spirit of God are sons of God; for what you received was not the spirit of slavery to bring you back into fear; you received the Spirit of adoption, enabling us to cry out, ‘Abba, Father!’ The Spirit himself joins with our spirit to bear witness that we are children of God. And if we are children, then we are heirs, heirs of God and joint–heirs with Christ, provided that we share his suffering, so as to share his glory.

                (9) Adam and Eve sinned.

We were conceived with original sin —
In baptism we receive a special sharing
                        in God's life —
We are commissioned in baptism to go out
                        and spread the good news.

                (10) The Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwell in the graced
                        baptized soul —
pray the Hail Mary with love and
                            conviction.

                The Visitation

                (1) Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth —
God shows us the barren women of the Bible —
God gives fruit from these barren women of
                        the Bible.

                (2) Sarah in the Bible laughed at God when
He told her she would conceive —
See in her limited vision — having the
audacity to laugh at the Magnificence of
God — who create all this —
Man because of original sin can be set in
his cubby hole — filled with pride and
rebellion — instead of open — like
an empty vessel ready to be filled —
                            open to be taught —
following God's will rather than controlling

                (3)

Luke 1: 46-55

And Mary said:

My soul proclaims
    the greatness of the Lord
and my spirit rejoices
    in God my Saviour;
because he has looked upon
    the humiliation of his servant.
Yes, from now onwards
all generations will call me blessed,
for the Almighty
has done great things for me.
Holy is his name,
and his faithful love extends age after age
    to those who fear him.
He has used the power of his arm,
he has routed the arrogant of heart.
He has pulled down princes
    from their thrones
        and raised high the lowly.
He has filled the starving with good things,
    sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the help
    of Israel his servant,
        mindful of his faithful love
—according to the promise
    he made to our ancestors—
of his mercy to Abraham
and to his descendants for ever.

                (4) Mary is the perfect handmaid of the Lord —
Jesus gave us the handmaids and servants of the Good
Shepherd — to be soft and supple to follow Him — like
Mary — who loved the will of the Father

Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus, in union with Him in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in the Holy Spirit. We come to You united to the Child Jesus of Good Health and the Infant of Prague. We come to You in the perfect, sinless heart of Our Mother Mary, asking her powerful intercession, uniting ourselves to her holy tears. We come to You united to all the angels and saints, and the souls in purgatory.

                (6) From the Holy Spirit Novena

Prayer for Holy Spirit

We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on us, to be baptized by the Holy Spirit, that He will descend mightily on us as He did on the Apostles at Pentecost. That the Holy Spirit will transform us from fear to fearlessness and that He will give us courage to do all the Father is asking of us to help bring about the Reign of the Sacred Heart and the triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart. We pray for the Holy Spirit to descend mightily on the Jesuits and the Poor Clares on the Shepherds of Christ leaders and members and on the whole Body of Christ and the world.

                (7) From the Holy Spirit Novena

Protection by the Blood of Jesus

We pray that the Blood of Jesus will be spread on us, everyone in our families, and the Shepherds of Christ Movement, that we will be able to move steadfastly ahead and be protected from the evil one.

                (8) Conversion

                    Mary's message at Fatima — conversion —
                        changing —
not doing the same bad habits — "harder"

"worse" — not being more selfish —
the lepers were healed by Jesus in the
                            scriptures
                        the paralyzed men healed —
people brought back from the dead —
                        the blind healed

But more important than physical healing is spiritual
                        healing

From the Holy Spirit Novena

Healing

We pray for healing in body, mind, and soul and generational healing in ourselves, in all members in our families, and in all members of the Shepherds of Christ Movement, the Jesuit Community, the Poor Clares, the Body of Christ, and the world.

                (9) From the Holy Spirit Novena

Prayer for Strength and Light

We adore You, oh Holy Spirit. Give us strength, give us light, console us. We give ourselves entirely to You. Oh Spirit of light and grace, we want to only do the will of the Father. Enlighten us that we may live always in the Father's will.

Eternal Spirit fill us with Your Divine Wisdom that we may comprehend more fully insight into Your Divine Mysteries.

Give us lights, Oh Holy Spirit that we may know God. Work within the heart, the spiritual womb of the Virgin Mary, to form us more and more into the image of Jesus.

                (10) From the Holy Spirit Novena

Prayer to Be One with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit

We long for You, Oh Spirit of Light, we long to know God, we want to be one with Him, our Divine God. We want to be one with the Father, know Him as a Person most intimately. We want to know the beloved One, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and live and dwell in Him at all times, every moment of our lives. We want to be one with You, Oh Spirit of Light, that You move in us in our every breath.

                Nativity

                (1)

Luke 2: 15-20

Now it happened that when the angels had gone from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go to Bethlehem and see this event which the Lord has made known to us.’ So they hurried away and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child they repeated what they had been told about him, and everyone who heard it was astonished at what the shepherds said to them. As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds went back glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, just as they had been told.

                (2)

Psalm 98: 1-6

Sing a new song to Yahweh,
for he has performed wonders,
his saving power is in his right hand
and his holy arm.

Yahweh has made known his saving power,
revealed his saving justice for the nations to see,
mindful of his faithful love and his constancy
to the House of Israel.

The whole wide world has seen
the saving power of our God.
Acclaim Yahweh, all the earth,
burst into shouts of joy!

Play to Yahweh on the harp,
to the sound of instruments;
to the sound of trumpet and horn,
acclaim the presence of the King.

                (3)

Isaiah 52: 7-10

How beautiful on the mountains,
are the feet of the messenger
   announcing peace,
of the messenger of good news,
who proclaims salvation
and says to Zion,
   ‘Your God is king!’
The voices of your watchmen!
Now they raise their voices,
shouting for joy together,
for with their own eyes they have seen
Yahweh returning to Zion.
Break into shouts together,
shouts of joy, you ruins of Jerusalem;
for Yahweh has consoled his people,
he has redeemed Jerusalem.
Yahweh has bared his holy arm
for all the nations to see,
and all the ends of the earth
have seen the salvation of our God.

                (4)

Hebrews 1: 1-6

At many moments in the past and by many means, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets; but in our time, the final days, he has spoken to us in the person of his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things and through whom he made the ages. He is the reflection of God's glory and bears the impress of God's own being, sustaining all things by his powerful command; and now that he has purged sins away, he has taken his seat at the right hand of the divine Majesty on high. So he is now as far above the angels as the title which he has inherited is higher than their own name.

To which of the angels, then, has God ever said:

You are my Son, today I have fathered you,

or:

I shall be a father to him and he a son to me?

Again, when he brings the First-born into the world, he says:

Let all the angels of God pay him homage.

                (5)

John 1: 1-5, 9-14

In the beginning was the Word:
the Word was with God
and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things came into being,
not one thing came into being
   except through him.
What has come into being in him was life,
life that was the light of men;
and light shines in darkness,
and darkness could not overpower it.

The Word was the real light
that gives light to everyone;
he was coming into the world.
He was in the world
that had come into being through him,
and the world did not recognise him.
He came to his own
and his own people did not accept him.

But to those who did accept him
he gave power to become children of God,
to those who believed in his name
who were born not from human stock
or human desire
or human will
but from God himself.
The Word became flesh,
he lived among us,
and we saw his glory,
the glory that he has from the Father
as only Son of the Father,
full of grace and truth.

                (6)

Genesis 3: 9-15, 20

But Yahweh God called to the man. 'Where are you?' he asked. 'I heard the sound of you in the garden,' he replied. 'I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.' 'Who told you that you were naked?' he asked. 'Have you been eating from the tree I forbade you to eat?' The man replied, 'It was the woman you put with me; she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.' Then Yahweh God said to the woman, 'Why did you do that?' The woman replied, 'The snake tempted me and I ate.'

Then Yahweh God said to the snake, 'Because you have done this,

    Accursed be you
of all animals wild and tame!
On your belly you will go
and on dust you will feed
    as long as you live.
    I shall put enmity
    between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring and hers;
    it will bruise your head
and you will strike its heel.'

The man named his wife 'Eve' because she was the mother of all those who live.

                (7)

 Ephesians 1: 3-6, 11-12

Blessed be God
the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
who has blessed us
with all the spiritual blessings of heaven
        in Christ.
Thus he chose us in Christ
    before the world was made
to be holy and faultless
    before him in love,
marking us out for himself beforehand,
    to be adopted sons,
        through Jesus Christ.
Such was his purpose and good pleasure,
to the praise of the glory of his grace,
his free gift to us in the Beloved,

And it is in him
that we have received our heritage,
marked out beforehand as we were,
under the plan of the One
   who guides all things
as he decides by his own will,
chosen to be,
for the praise of his glory,
the people who
would put their hopes in Christ
       before he came.

Prayer to Be One in Jesus

Let us experience life in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so we can say as Saint Paul, "I have been crucified with Christ and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me...." Let us live, united to the Mass, all through the day being one in Him. Let us be able to love and know in this elevated state of oneness with our God. We long for Thee, oh beauteous God, we love You, we love You, we love You. We praise You, worship You, honor You, adore You, and thank You, our beloved God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Prayer to Dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

We seek to be one in God, to live and dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, our little heaven on earth, to experience life in the all perfect, pure, sinless heart of our Mother. We want the Holy Spirit to move in us and to be united to Jesus as the Bridegroom of our souls and be a most perfect sacrifice offered to the Father at every moment as we unite in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass around the world to help in the salvation of souls.

Come Holy Spirit, come, come into our hearts, inflame all people with the fire of Your love.

Leader: Send forth Your Spirit and all will be reborn.
All:  And You will renew the face of the earth.

We pray for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, we ask for perfection in our souls to make us holy, holy souls likened to God.

Dear Holy Spirit, we give ourselves to You soul and body. We ask You to give us the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord.

Luke 2: 22-32

And when the day came for them to be purified in keeping with the Law of Moses, they took him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord—observing what is written in the Law of the Lord: Every first–born male must be consecrated to the Lord—and also to offer in sacrifice, in accordance with what is prescribed in the Law of the Lord, a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons. Now in Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon. He was an upright and devout man; he looked forward to the restoration of Israel and the Holy Spirit rested on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he had set eyes on the Christ of the Lord. Prompted by the Spirit he came to the Temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the Law required, he took him into his arms and blessed God; and he said:

    Now, Master, you are letting
        your servant go in peace
    as you promised;
for my eyes have seen the salvation
    which you have made ready
        in the sight of the nations;
a light of revelation for the gentiles
and glory for your people Israel.

From the Holy Spirit Novena

Prayer for the Word Alive in Our Hearts

We know, dear Holy Spirit, the Word in His human nature was brought forth within the womb of the woman. We pray that His word will be brought forth in our hearts as He lives and dwells in us. We want the incarnation to go on in our lives. Dear Holy Spirit, work in us.

                (8) From the Holy Spirit Novena

Little Prayers to the Holy Spirit

Dear Holy Spirit, help us not to be ignorant or indifferent or weak, help us to be strong with the love of God.

Dear Holy Spirit, please pray for our needs for us.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to respect God and to avoid sin. Help us to live in the Father's will.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to keep Your commandments and to respect authority. Help us to love all things as You will us to love them. Help us to want to pray and always serve God with the greatest love. Help us to know the truth. Help us to have the gift of faith, hope, and love. Help us to know what is right and what is wrong.

                (3) Mass Book - October 26, 1995 - p. 138

...I want this transforming union with Him. I cannot think ill thoughts towards anyone. I must pray to the Holy Spirit for the truth. I must pray to the Holy Spirit to love God and neighbor. I must pray for greater grace to know, love, and serve Him. His way is always love. I must strive to always respond in love. Fr. Carter said the more I unite to Him the greater my gifts of charity towards others. The further I am from Him, the less my gifts of charity towards others.

Jesus said to him, "You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang the whole Law, and the Prophets too." (Mt. 22:37-40)

                (5) Mass Book - December 1, 1995 - p. 164

We are hungry for the love of God. He feeds us with His Word. He gives us His own Body and Blood. Jesus said, "…Feed my lambs…Feed my sheep." (Jn. 21:15-17)

He is the innocent Lamb led to the slaughter. Now He gives us His Body and His Blood. (God, Himself, is slaughtered).

He is the Bread of Life. The lamb, that was sacrificed, gives Himself to us this day to feed us. He feeds our starved souls with His life. He feeds us in the Scriptures-the Living Word. He feeds us with the Living Bread come down from heaven. We must give an account of the Good News: Jesus has died. He has risen, and He lives in us. He is alive in us!

REPARATION IS THE FOUNDATION
OF THE FATIMA MESSAGE

My experience at Holy Cross-Immaculata Catholic Church before the Lourdes Statue and the Cross was awesome.

The world is suffering and in pain. We must pray the Divine Mercy.

"A sacrament is a visible sign of an invisible, divine reality."25

Jesus no longer walks the earth. We carry out His life, death, and Resurrection in our lives.

The Church is the continuation of Christ upon earth. The Church is a sacrament. We encounter Christ in a special way through the Sacraments.

If I am united to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, if I dwell in Their Hearts, I help channel grace to others.

The more I live in Their Hearts and you live in Their Hearts, the deeper we are united.

I am deeply united to my brothers that are deeply saturated with His grace.

The rosary is the story of the lives of Jesus and Mary. God communicates with us through His Son, Who became man.

Mary's heart was pierced seven times. There are seven Sacraments. Mary is the Mediatrix of all graces. When we dwell in Their Hearts, the love of God is so alive in us. We are joined in such oneness with God when we are dwelling in Their Hearts. We receive His divine life and divine love.

Mary's heart is filled with His love. She dwells most deeply in His Heart. Her heart is sinless. Through Mary, we can dwell more deeply in His divine Heart because her heart is pure.

The grace-life comes through His humanity. Life comes from the Father, in the Holy Spirit, through the pierced Heart of Jesus, through Mary, to us. We act as channels of this life in the world. We carry out His life in our lives.

The Church continues His life, death, and Resurrection this day. He is present to us in the Sacraments. Mary is our Mother and Mother of the Church. The Spirit transforms us in Mary's heart to make us more like Jesus.

Jesus gives us His Body and Blood this day. His life flows from His pierced Heart from which blood and water flowed. The water is a symbol of Baptism, of the life He gives to us; the blood is a symbol of the Eucharist whereby we are fed.

The Mass is the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present. The angel told the three children at Fatima:

"Take and drink the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, horribly outraged by ungrateful men! Make reparation for their crimes and console your God."

Father Carter says in his book, The Spirituality of Fatima and Medjugorje that: "Reparation is a foundation of the Fatima messages."26

…we notice the distinctive Trinitarian nature of the messages. We are instructed that, in our Christian existence, we must express the greatest reverence for Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, as we serve them through the virtues of faith, hope, and love. These three virtues are at the heart of our life of grace.

We are reminded of the ugly reality of sin and of our duty to make reparation for it.26

Our Lady calls for a specific act of reparation - the five first Saturdays. Reparation is a foundation of the Fatima message.

Love God; Love our neighbor. Pray and make sacrifices for others. Make everything we do a sacrifice. We must be united to God throughout the day.

God has sent Our Blessed Mother to call us back to Jesus and to be in a closer union with Him. Mary is our Spiritual Mother - the Mediatrix of all grace. We should accept all the sufferings He sends us. The cross leads to life. We carry out the Pascal Mystery in our lives, that of death-resurrection. The cross leads to life. We live the cross. We act as channels of His grace to others. The Eucharist is at the center of the Church's life.

"'My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You.'

Then, rising he said: 'Pray thus. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive to the voice of your supplications.'…"27

During the summer of 1916, the angel again appeared to the three visionaries. He said to them:
"Pray! Pray a great deal. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary have merciful designs on you. Offer prayers and sacrifices continually to the Most High. Make everything you do a sacrifice, and offer it as an act of reparation for the sins by which God is offended, and as a petition for the conversion of sinners. Bring peace to our country in this way…I am the Guardian Angel of Portugal. Accept and bear with submission all the sufferings the Lord will send you."28

In the fall of the same year, the angel visited the visionaries a final time:
"The angel came…bearing a golden chalice in one hand and a Host above it in the other. The amazed children noticed that drops of blood where falling from the Host into the chalice. Presently, the angel left both suspended in mid-air and prostrated himself on the ground, saying this beautiful prayer: 'Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, I adore You profoundly. I offer You the most precious Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges, and indifference by which He is offended. By the infinite merits of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and [the intercession of] the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.'"29 30

Holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary appear in the foreground as the inseparable Mediators of the Father of Mercies.

TO KNOW HIM IS TO LOVE HIM

Mary has said at Fatima that we will not have peace in the world until a sufficient number of people are consecrating their hearts to Jesus and Mary. Mary will be faithful to the promises of Fatima.

The Sacred Heart of Jesus will reign and the Immaculate Heart of Mary will triumph.

Salvation History includes the story of man's willfulness and sinfulness. God is faithful with His infinite mercy and love.

God was completely happy. He created man from His goodness and love to communicate His love to His creatures.

Many times man is blind and deaf and does not see the plan. This is the plan of Salvation History that man was created to know, love, and serve God.

To love God more, we must know Him. He is revealing Himself to us in the Scriptures. We must read them to love Him more.

From the side of the first Adam came Eve. From the side of Christ came the Church.

We are fed through His Body and Blood.

                (9) Mass Book - December 27, 1995 - p. 53

...The reign of God is at hand. He came to the earth, He died, He rose on the third day. He gave to the Apostles the power to change bread and wine into His Body and Blood. He gave to them the power to forgive sins. He established His Church pouring forth from His pierced side. We do not see the great gifts that He has given to us. He is giving to us great insights into these gifts. God is giving to us great graces to see the light now. He is lifting the veil.

There will be an era of peace and all will see with such light as Isaiah speaks of in Chapter 30, verse 26:

Then moonlight will be
bright as sunlight
and sunlight itself will be
seven times brighter
-like the light of seven days in one-…

Man sinned. Jesus came to redeem us. Man is still so sinful. Mary appears at Fatima. She tells us that we are offending God, that we must make reparation to her heart and the Heart of her Son.

She gives us the peace plan for the world. She tells us that the Sacred Heart of Jesus will reign and her Immaculate Heart will triumph but we must do what she says. The Church has approved Fatima. The devil has blocked the message. How can we disobey our Mother? How can we ignore her? Mary appeared at Fatima and was ignored. The plan of the Father will unfold despite any person's willfulness.

We are not listening to Mary. Man has sinned. Jesus came to redeem us. Mary tells us what we must do. Men are disobedient. They disobeyed their Mother. They do not do what she told them what they must do at Fatima. When hearts are consecrated to Jesus and Mary they become holy hearts, deeply one with God. The reign of the Sacred Heart is at hand for He has given to us abundant grace that we are seeing with such clarity. When we stay after Communion and go before the tabernacle He gives to us great graces. The more we become one in Him the more He enlightens our minds. We know Him in this oneness we share with Him, especially after Communion and before the tabernacle...

Excerpt from The Spirituality of Fatima

by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

July 13, 1917

"During her appearance in July, Our Lady, in answer to Lucia's plea, promised that in October she would work a great miracle so that all might believe and know who she was. Again, the Mother of God told the children to sacrifice themselves for sinners and to say many times, especially when making a sacrifice, this prayer: "O my Jesus, I offer this for love of Thee, for the conversion of poor sinners, and in reparation for all the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary." (11)

"During this same July apparition, Mary showed the three children a vision of Hell. She told them:

"You have seen Hell, where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish, in the world, devotion to my Immaculate Heart. If people do what I tell you, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.

"The war (World War I, then raging) is going to end. But if people do not stop offending God, another and worse one will begin in the reign of Pius XI. When you shall see a night illuminated by an unknown light [January 2, 1938], know that this is the great sign that God gives you that He is going to punish the world for its many crimes by means of war, hunger, and persecution of the Church and the Holy Father. (12)

"To prevent this, I shall come to ask for the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart and the Communion of Reparation on the five first Saturdays. If my requests are granted, Russia will be converted and there will be peace. If not, she will scatter her errors throughout the world, provoking wars and persecutions of the Church. The good will be martyred, the Holy Father will have much to suffer, and various nations will be destroyed....

"But in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph, the Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me, Russia will be converted, and a certain period of peace will be granted to the world." (13)
