Prayer for Grace for our Country

Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace, for our country, the United States. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray. We pray for our president and leaders. We pray that we are united as one nation under God to work together in love as God wants.

                August 24, 2019

                R. Dear God,

We are sorry for our offenses against
you. Please help us to be Your
                instruments of love. Have mercy
for our sins, we can be selfish
                and focused on ourselves. Life
is very short and we can be
blind-sided – open our eyes to
see and allow You to run our
lives to do as You want us
                to do.

Instruments of God, to help in the
building of the Kingdom of God. To
be a bridge and accomplish what
He wants of me this day.

Come to me Lord and possess my
soul. We are here for a purpose –
nobody can love or give as we can
uniquely give the gift to others God
wants to give through our lives.

Cars get us around and sometimes they
need repair, sometimes parts wear out,
                sometimes they won't start –

When a person has a flat tire they
can't go with the flat tire. We have
to get it fixed and then we can use
                our car to go around.

Sometimes we can abuse our bodies,
or get run down or not know
something is wrong inside. We need so much
gas to use the car – the end is the car
takes us here and there – we don't keep
filling the car with gas beyond the
size of the tank and making filling
the car with gas an end because
we like using the gas pump.

                    Our bodies are vulnerable, we
have to use our bodies for the
purpose of what God wants. We use
the bodies for the soul. Our bodies
are vulnerable, they are fragile, they
need to be treated with the right things,
the right amounts, we just don't
indulge in pleasures 24/7 – Our
bodies should be used for the
heart and soul to operate inside.
                Numbing our bodies with alcohol,
using sex, food for constant pleasure
as our goal deadens the spirit –
makes it impossible for the Spirit
to even get in there –

The body is ruling and the spirit
is squelched – the darkness over
takes – fendish pleasure is the goal –
the old saying is we eat to live and
                not live to eat.

Sex, drugs used for highs and lows
are not the end for why we have
bodies. We must discipline ourselves –
The most important is eternal salvation –
sin takes us away from God. We cannot
over indulge to numb oneself rather
than working through pains in the
heart from the past. First to thine
                own self be true!

What is the mask that one can use to mask
old pains they refuse to look at? The life
God gave us is a gift to love and give
love in the world, to be instruments
of love – to help build the Kingdom of God.

                R. Life is for living –

The body is to help the soul –

We are given life as a gift to help
                    build the Kingdom of God.

                R. It can be drugs or sex to numb pain
of generations of toxic dysfunction – passed
down that a person numbs being addicted
                to misery and not living.

                    Addictions are addictions – people
act to maintain these bad habits –
How would this car run with a
                blanket over it?

                R. What keeps a person hooked on unhappiness!
Denying the addiction will not make it go away.
                Shutting down, isolating, caving in,
                chaos for excitement, confusion,
power over others are ways of dealing
                with boredom, anger, envy, power,
                lust, pride, gluttony etc.

And if a person tries to stop
drinking or using, they can have
withdraw symptoms that they run back
to what is familiar to feel comfortable.
The person denies they are operating with
                the addiction – slavishly dependent
                relationships – abuse cycle,
                drugs, food, sex, excitement –

                There is a powerlessness over
their addiction – they just keep
                doing the same thing –
Obedience to those over a person
in authority is necessary to keep a
                job.

If a person looks for excuses why
they can't do what is asked of
them and change the plan – it
is an addiction that can keep a
                person from maintaining any
                relationships or jobs –
                People must work with each
                other and be responsible.

There are consequences for actions –
a person is responsible and accountable
for what they do and actions have consequences –

A person who is addicted can have
                no concern for consequence or
                regard for what happens because
                of their actions –

We are to live in the moment
and deal with our feelings –
                people addicted numb their
feelings, pain, not living in the moment.
Obsessive - compulsive thinking – etc.

Denial is major in addictions – the
person refuses to admit what they do
and they want this cycle where they
are operating secretly and have pleasure
                getting away with it –

This denial of the addiction which
                becomes overwhelming causing
                problems in their lives.

Actions can be directed by the addictions.
All that can matter to some addicted person
is the addiction – nobody, no job is
more important to some than maintaining
the addiction and they think they are
keeping it hidden – secrets –

Pride and Power can keep an addicted
person doing what they are doing –
                secrets, isolation, deception –

The 12 Steps are a way so many have
                    overcome addictions –
Addictions don't just go away –
they get worse – they can become the
                    whole life.

Loss of control – emotional control over
                others, excitement, power, drugs, food,
sex – Controlling someone else can be the
whole focus of the addicted person's life –
                Toxic dysfunction taught from generations
                past –

To fight addictions we need a power
greater than ourselves – to deny it makes
                it worse –

Stuffing feelings is like stuffing rubber
bands in a tin can – you can stuff and
stuff eventually the can, can not take any
                more –

Life becomes controlling this mess –

                    Life is not living.

 THE TWELVE STEPS OF AA

Here are the steps we took, which are suggested as a program of recovery:

                    1.  We admitted we were powerless over alcohol,
that our lives had become unmanageable.

                    2.  Came to believe that a Power greater than
ourselves could restore us to sanity.

                    3.  Made a decision to turn our will and our lives
over to the care of God as we understood Him.

                    4.  Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.

                    5.  Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human
being the exact nature of our wrongs.

                    6.  Were entirely ready to have God remove all
                            these defects of character.

                    7.  Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

                    8.  Made a list of all persons we had harmed,
and became willing to make amends to them all.

                    9.  Made direct amends to such people wherever possible,
except when to do so would injure them or others.

                    10.  Continued to take personal inventory and when we
                            were wrong promptly admitted it.

                    11.  Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our
conscious contact with God as we understood Him,
praying only for knowledge of His will for us and
the power to carry that out.

                    12.  Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps,
we tried to carry this message to alcoholics,
and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

                R. The person addicted becomes isolated – they
can tell themselves they can handle
                    everything themselves –
They are taught this from childhood
                        where needs of learning and
playing and being a child are
                            not met in the dysfunctional
                            home –

These children are taught to not talk,
                    suppress their feelings and they
as a result learn to not trust
others – they may learn to trust
only themselves and to keep secrets
                    to act out their problems.

Denial of what did happen in childhood
keeps the person in adult life
acting - out unfinished business –
                    unless there is recovery

                Control becomes their goal –
                    they don't want anything from
                    anybody else shaking their
                    fragile situation.

Did you ever play a game where you
stack blocks up and up and up
and try to keep them from falling –

If a person controls everything and
                    isolates their space – nobody
                    can hurt their fragile space
they need to control or they could lose it –

Like rubber bands stuffed in a can –
rubber bands stuffed in a can and
somebody takes off the lid –
                    they go all over.

Feelings stuffed for 50 years –
                    could come out!!

                Happiness is unknown to the
                    addicted person –
                    They can control their mask!!

Also the addicted person can have
                    immense fear of abandonment –
they can do any kind of punishment
to others and control that a
                    person can't leave them.

Only truth can help the sickness heal –
                    Denial, secrets, control, addictions
                        get worse and worse –

                R. God loves us.

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

                R. We must walk hand-in-hand
with Jesus and with others –

                Given August 11, 2019

R. God likes us little.

Dependent.

Mary was lowly.

God is tender not hard.

We must seek God.
His thoughts are not our thoughts.

He is Divine.
He is the ultimate mystery.

We are little.
Wanting to learn about Him.

His ways are not our ways.

Under the Gaze of Our Father.

He hath regarded the humility of His handmaid.

The Holy Virgin was pure and humble.

We have to surrender to the powerful hands of God like a little child.
Held in the embrace of God

We must have docility.
Not independence, hardness with God.

Be like little children of God the Father seeking to learn His ways and love.
Secure in His embrace.

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus I put my trust in Thee.

Turn to Me He says.
The interior life in God.

He loves us through others.

Don't reject His love given so generously to us, through those He has sent in our life loving us for Him.

The more one we are with God the more deeply our love is for Him.

He is loving God more deeply as He loves Himself in us.

God deserves love. Gratitude. Tender honoring love.

Adoration.

Awe.

We can't overlook situations in our lives that demand faith.

How would we grow in faith?

Faith is believing in what we don't see.

We believe in faith. God is there.

He is in it.

We accept what is hard on faith and seek His presence even when we don't see what or why.

We stretch in intimacy with Him letting go in faith.

Letting go to God.

It is a power beyond the guy who needs everything black and white.

In reality we see in a veil.
Nothing is black and white.

It's faith we live by,
We walk by.

It is a power we know in surrender greater than ourselves

Awesome!!!

We walk by faith and not by sight!!

We believe without seeing.

We trust in God.

We love Him when He's silent.

We hold on to Him always!!

The soul rises because we reach like flowers upward to God.

We reach upward.

We rise up.

What happens to a plant full of insects without sun and water?

We raise up to the Almighty God and keep our hearts and souls on God.

Up

Up

Up

Jesus: I am the way, the truth, and the life!!!

R. Where your treasure is there will your heart be.

We are quiet and connected and listen to God always.

Wait on the Lord and He will grant your hearts request.

His ways are not our ways.

God is light and in Him is no darkness.

In the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Let not your hearts be troubled. Trust in God. Surrender to Him.

R. The more one realizes God as He truly is,
sees Him more as He is,
the more one sees that He must decrease and God must increase.

Psalm 19: 1-2, 3-4

The heavens declare the glory of God,
the vault of heaven proclaims his handiwork,
day discourses of it to day,
night to night hands on the knowledge.

No utterance at all, no speech,
not a sound to be heard,
but from the entire earth the design stands out,
this message reaches the whole world.

R. How do we see those saints who knew God's awesome and wonder?

They would prostrate themselves before God.

Jesus told me to kiss the floor before the tabernacle.

The devil hates God and wants no praise and love given to God.

The devil hates Mary, Mother of God.

Let the Holy Spirit possess you.

Some people give into the deadly sins 50 years, having ruts in the road they are in - digging ruts to destruction.

Some have possession of evil spirits.

We should seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Possessed by God.

God gave me this prayer over 25 years ago.

R. Allow love to fill your heart.
Allow love to permeate your heart and soul.

Ask the Holy Spirit to possess you, be the Guest of your soul.

The Holy Spirit is the Soul of the Church.

The Holy Spirit fills us with love.

The Holy Spirit gives us His gifts to help us be holy.

Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel,
Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety
and Fear of the Lord
.

The Holy Spirit operates like the gentle wind in a soul leading them to greater sanctification.

21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 66: 18-21

I am coming to gather every nation and every language. They will come to witness my glory. I shall give them a sign and send some of their survivors to the nations: to Tarshish, Put, Lud, Meshech, Tubal and Javan, to the distant coasts and islands that have never heard of me or seen my glory. They will proclaim my glory to the nations, and from all the nations they will bring all your brothers was an offering to Yahweh, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules and on camels, to my holy mountain, Jerusalem, Yahweh says, like Israelites bringing offerings in clean vessels to Yahweh's house. And some of them I shall make into priests and Levites, Yahweh says.

Psalm 117: 1, 2

Alleluia!
Praise Yahweh, all nations,
    extol him, all peoples,
for his faithful love is strong
    and his constancy never*ending.

Hebrews 12 5-7, 11-13

Have you forgotten that encouraging text in which you are addressed as sons?

My son, do not scorn correction
        from the Lord,
    do not resent his training,
for the Lord trains those he loves,
and chastises every son he accepts.

Perseverance is part of your training; God is treating you as his sons. Has there ever been any son whose father did not train him?

Of course, any discipline is at the time a matter for grief, not joy; but later, in those who have undergone it, it bears fruit in peace and uprightness. So steady all weary hands and trembling knees and make your crooked paths straight; then the injured limb will not be maimed, it will get better instead.

Luke 13: 22-30

Through towns and villages he went teaching, making his way to Jerusalem. Someone said to him, ‘Sir, will there be only a few saved?’ He said to them, ‘Try your hardest to enter by the narrow door, because, I tell you, many will try to enter and will not succeed.

‘Once the master of the house has got up and locked the door, you may find yourself standing outside knocking on the door, saying, "Lord, open to us," but he will answer, "I do not know where you come from." Then you will start saying, "We once ate and drank in your company; you taught in our streets," but he will reply, "I do not know where you come from; away from me, all evil doers!

‘Then there will be weeping and grinding of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrown out. And people from east and west, from north and south, will come and sit down at the feast in the kingdom of God.

‘Look, there are those now last who will be first, and those now first who will be last.’

21st Sunday of Ordinary Time

August 21, 2016

INTRODUCTION – Our first reading today (Is.66, 18-21) comes from the time when the Jews were exiled in Babylon. At the time this passage was proclaimed, they had been in exile for about two generations and they had given up any hope of returning to the land of Judea and to their beloved city, Jerusalem. The prophet tells God’s disheartened people not to lose hope; they would once again worship in Jerusalem. Moreover, there will come a time when even people from foreign nations would join the Jewish people in worshiping the God of Israel. Most surprising of all, foreigners would be accepted as priests. This radical concept was unthinkable. Basically, the Jews thought they had a monopoly on God’s love and they thought that Gentiles had very little chance for salvation or for sharing in God’s kingdom. This question about salvation comes up in today’s gospel: how many people will be saved. (Lk 13, 22-30).

HOMILY – People loved to ask Jesus questions. Some questions were sincere; some tried to back him into a corner. Some questions prompted some of Jesus’ most important teachings. At first sight, I thought the question people asked him in today’s gospel was a fairly useless question: “Lord, will only a few people be saved?” I wonder if Jesus thought it was fairly useless too because he didn’t really answer it.

Even though Jesus did not say how many may or may not be saved, he does give us some very important advice. He answered: “Strive to get through the narrow door – the door that leads to eternal life, and don’t wait until the last minute to do it.” Only the narrow door will lead to eternal life. The door that’s easy to get through will take you to a place where you will find no happiness. The key idea here is that to get through the narrow door requires effort on our part. Jesus said: “strive to get through the narrow door.” The important word is strive. The Greek word that is translated strive is agonizomai – did you hear the English word “agony” in agonizomai? What does that mean for us? Does this mean we have to torture ourselves, do a lot of fasting, wear a hair shirt and whip ourselves like the monks in the middle ages? No, that’s not what Jesus is asking of us.

The agony we have to go through is to fight against our selfishness and pride. Jesus asks us to pray, to come to Mass, to forgive those who have hurt us, to help the poor, not to abort innocent life; in brief, keep the Commandments. His law does challenge us to live by the values he has taught us. If we fail to do that sometimes, we must remember that God is merciful and always ready to forgive if we approach him with love and sincerity.

In closing, let me return to the question that the people first asked Jesus, the question that I initially thought was useless. I thought about it some more and decided it’s not so useless after all especially if we consider it in light of the Book of Revelation. For the Book of Revelation offers us hope – which is so important for all of us. We find this in chapter 7 of Revelations: “and there was a great multitude that no one could count (notice, a great multitude that no one could count - that doesn’t sound like “a few”) from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne (of God) and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands (a symbol of victory). They cried out in a loud voice, saying, ‘Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!” “The Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” Amen.

Guiding Light - Reflect on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year (2011/2012)
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B     The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A    The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B    At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C    In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts
Inspiring Homilies by Fr. Joe Robinson
$ 5.00

Guiding Light — The Word Alive in Our Hearts. Cycle A (partial)    Homilies by the Reverend Joe Robinson given at St. Boniface Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a tremendous honor Fr. Joe has allowed us to share these great gifts with you – for greater holiness and knowing more and more about God. $10

Audio CD - Read by Father Edward J. Carter
$ 10.00

Priestly Newsletter — 2000 #1 — CD.Christ is Our Strength — Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our—selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
