Devotion to Mary and Jesus!!

Prayer for Grace for our Country

Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace, for our country, the United States. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray. We pray for our president and leaders. We pray that we are united as one nation under God to work together in love as God wants.

R. Jesus is meek and humble of heart.

He calls us to get rid of pride in our hearts that take us away from God.
Putting God first in our lives.

22nd Sunday of Ordinary Time

Sirach 3: 17-18, 20, 28-29

My child, be gentle in carrying out your business,
and you will be better loved than a lavish giver.
The greater you are, the more humbly you should behave,
   and then you will find favour with the Lord;
for great though the power of the Lord is,
he accepts the homage of the humble.

For the disease of the proud there is no cure,
since an evil growth has taken root there.
The heart of the sensible will reflect on parables,
an attentive ear is the sage's dream.

Psalm 68: 4-7, 10-11

Sing to God, play music to his name,
build a road for the Rider of the Clouds,
rejoice in Yahweh, dance before him.

Father of orphans, defender of widows,
such is God in his holy dwelling.
God gives the lonely a home to live in,
leads prisoners out into prosperity,
but rebels must live in the bare wastelands.

God, when you set out at the head of your people,
when you strode over the desert,

Your family found a home, which you
in your generosity provided for the humble.

The Lord gave a command,
the good news of a countless army.

Hebrews 12: 18-19, 22-24

What you have come to is nothing known to the senses: not a blazing fire, or gloom or total darkness, or a storm; or trumpet-blast or the sound of a voice speaking which made everyone that heard it beg that no more should be said to them.

But what you have come to is Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem where the millions of angels have gathered for the festival, with the whole Church of first-born sons, enrolled as citizens of heaven. You have come to God himself, the supreme Judge, and to the spirits of the upright who have been made perfect; and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to purifying blood which pleads more insistently than Abel's.

Luke 14: 1, 7-14

Now it happened that on a Sabbath day he had gone to share a meal in the house of one of the leading Pharisees; and they watched him closely.

He then told the guests a parable, because he had noticed how they picked the places of honour. He said this, 'When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take your seat in the place of honour. A more distinguished person than you may have been invited, and the person who invited you both may come and say, "Give up your place to this man." And then, to your embarrassment, you will have to go and take the lowest place. No; when you are a guest, make your way to the lowest place and sit there, so that, when your host comes, he may say, "My friend, move up higher." Then, everyone with you at the table will see you honoured. For everyone who raises himself up will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be raised up.'

Then he said to his host, 'When you give a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relations or rich neighbours, in case they invite you back and so repay you. No; when you have a party, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; then you will be blessed, for they have no means to repay you and so you will be repaid when the upright rise again.'

R. The ancient Greeks believed in many gods.

22nd Sunday of Ordinary Time

August 28, 2016

HOMILY – (Sirach 3, 17-18.20.28-29; Heb 12, 18-19.22-24; Luke 14 1.7-14) The ancient Greeks believed in many different gods. One of those gods was named Narcissus. He had the appearance of a young man and was extremely attractive. While going through the mountains one day, he was noticed by a nymph named Echo. She fell in love for him immediately, but he rejected her. Another goddess named Nemesis, the goddess of revenge, decided to punish Narcissus. She led him to a pool of water and had him look into it so he could see his own reflection. He fell in love with his reflection, not knowing it was a reflection. He made efforts to connect with the person he saw. However, since his love couldn’t be reciprocated and he couldn’t have the object of his desire, he killed himself. Sometimes our pride can actually turn on us and destroy us.

In the name Narcissus we get the adjective that comes from it “narcissistic.” The adjective describes a person who in his or her life shows a significant concern for his or her own self and a minimum concern for others (according to Dr. Karl Menninger: page 159, Whatever Became of Sin.) God tells us, “to love our neighbor as ourselves.” Jesus tells us this is one of the two greatest commandments. Although the law may be expressed in different terms, most religions of the world teach this same thing; such as, “do not do to another what you would not want someone to do to you.” This is often called the Golden Rule. If we are to live in peace with one another, we have to establish a certain sense of balance between our concern for ourselves and our concern for others.

Now pride, which this is all about, is a tricky thing to deal with because there is a kind of healthy pride we feel when we have done a good job or accomplished something hard or significant. Healthy pride moves us to take reasonable care of ourselves, to dress appropriately, to use our talents to serve ourselves and others in a positive way. Then there is neurotic pride, a form of pride that pushes everyone else out of our way. It tries to push us to heights of importance greater than we can possibly be; then when we fail, it condemns us or makes us feel as if we are an absolute failure. Perfectionism is a form of neurotic pride because none of us can be perfect at all times – only God is.

Today we hear about Jesus at a wedding banquet. I wonder if Jesus ever went to parties and really enjoyed himself with everyone watching him and looking for something to criticize. On the other hand, he was not shy about telling them what he thought. At this wedding celebration, he observed certain guests putting themselves forward as being especially important. The seating at a formal dinner indicated a person’s position on the social ladder. Some of the guests were not satisfied where they were seated and they wanted a seat that would spotlight their high importance. I think there was some humor in Jesus’ suggestion about taking a less prestigious position so that the host would invite the person in the low position to move up higher. This probably didn’t change a proud person’s mindset if their reason for taking a lower place was primarily to be invited to take a higher position. The really important lesson Jesus was trying to teach is near the end of today’s gospel: don’t just invite people to a dinner or a celebration who you know will pay you back. When you throw a party, do the same; invite people who will not be able to pay you back. Jesus is not talking about throwing parties or going out to dinner. He’s talking about doing any kind of a good deed for anyone, whether it gets noticed or not, whether people think what a wonderful person we are, or whether our only reward is the sheer pleasure of having given a helping hand to someone who is in need.

This sounds very much like Matthew’s gospel where Jesus rewarded those who did good things for others without recognizing they were doing it for our Lord. I’m sure you remember the passage in Matthew where Jesus said to those who were about to be taken into heaven: “I was hungry and you gave me food, thirsty and you gave me a drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, sick and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.”

We don’t need to throw a party in order to find ways we can follow the lesson Jesus teaches us in today’s gospel.

R. Looked in a pool and fell in love with himself.

Pride can turn on us and destroy us.

Minimum concern for others, but loves oneself.

The Golden Rule.

Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

Balance between concern for us and concern for others.

Healthy pride.
Take care of ourselves.

Bad pride, neurotic pride pushes everybody else out of our way.

Raises oneself above everybody. And when this doesn’t work
Drives us deeply down.

The important lesson Jesus teaches is at the end of today’s Gospel
Doing good whether we get noticed or not.

We do it to help and love others. Not for stuff for ourselves.

September 1, 2019

R. I am drawn to you like steel to a magnet my God.

For all is Your presence in my thirsty soul.

I was created for You my God and nothing but Your love can satisfy my soul.

God is love and in Him is no darkness.

God wants oneness with us.

Jesus is the head of the body.

God wants unity in the members of the body of Christ,
It is living in God’s will to be united, to love, to be one in love with God and others.

God created us to be instruments of HIS LOVE.

He feeds us with Himself.

We go to Mass and God comes to us, comes in our thirsty soul.

Jesus is the Bread of life.
In Him is no darkness.

Unity. Unity. Unity and love.

Hearts filled with love for others.

Hearts loving to give the love God fills us with to others.

It is the depth of life known in our soul.

Life is life in Jesus Christ and the unity is So deep in us.

Oh God Sunday is the Lord's Day and we celebrate it with the Sunday Mass.

Union in oneness with God and all men because
God is love

And Shepherds of Christ is to help men dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, our little heaven on earth, God in us.

Picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Cling to Me

May 13, 1993

Jesus: My dear child, if you stay close to Me, then I live in you and you live in Me. I am He Who created you and I love you with such an intensity that you will never know. My words are your truth. You must abide in My heart in all things. There is no room for doubt. My ways are steadfast, direct, and without error.

You must stay rooted in Me to ward off the power of the evil one. His grip is paralyzing and crippling. His power is stronger every day.

When you live in Me, I am in your heart and he has no power over Me. I am your God. I am your true lover. I want to protect you. I want to guard you from this force. Stay rooted firmly in Me and he will have no power.

I am He Who comforts you. My hand is upon you. Hold tight to Me, My child. My eyes are fixed right on you. You are My most precious child. I love you as no other can. My arms are about you. My tenderness surrounds you. My love is in your heart. You go not alone. I walk with you.

I share every aspect of your life with you. Cling to Me, feel My presence. It is warm and secure within your chest. There is no room for fear, for I cast out fear and bring you comfort and joy.  end of May 13, 1993

R. Childlike faith.

Seeing ourselves under the gaze of the Father.

Come to me Lord and possess my soul.

Life is in God.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of unity and love.

We are united.
We are children of the Heavenly Father.

We have a Father who loves us dearly dwelling in our graced baptized soul.

God is love and in Him is no darkness.

I sent my love to you
Jesus says.

Jesus: I love you so much My precious Shepherds.

I bring you love.

I give you greater grace - life in Me.

Come to me Lord and possess my soul.

Only one thing is important. Eternal salvation.

R. Sin takes us from eternal salvation.

Jesus: Unity and love.

I am Jesus.♥

R. The devil wants us selfish, divided, isolated.

That leaves a soul thirsty.

We were created for life in God,
What is life,  Jesus.

The devil's grip is paralyzing and crippling.

Oh God gift my heart with your life.

I love You so much God.

Your love is everything.

God comes and fills you with light.

Satan works in the soul holding out in selfishness and pride, envy, ugly darkness like tar fills the dark heart.

The dark heart allows Satan in to operate in them, then tries to bring others down to their darkness.

It is an act of the will to want holiness and give yourself as the gift you are to be.

The Holy Spirit has gifts to give you for - the graced baptized soul. Some turn their backs and fill themselves with darkness being instruments for the evil one.

One of the great gifts God gives us is friendship.

Friendship is a gift from God.

And the light shown on my face

The light of God penetrates my heart.

I am never alone and disconnected because God loves in me.

When I look I see reality –
God in others for they were created by God and I am to love them.

Be His instrument of love.

He is love.

We are to be like open pipes where the connection is made.

We are instruments of His love.

He operates in us touching souls through our open loving hearts.

Instruments of love on the Lord's day.

And St. Paul says "yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me." Galatians 2: 20

Instruments open like a pipeline.

Instruments like Clear-water.

It's God's will we are instruments of His
Instruments of love, filled with the Holy Spirit.

God’s ways are not our ways. The unity of oneness God wants is far beyond anything we know.

As He takes us deeper into that oneness, we know this more and more. God is absolute truth. The more the Holy Spirit fills us, the deeper we grow in oneness with God and the truth is in us.

We put on Christ, we are robed more and more in His grace.

This is His life in us, more abundantly, filling us ever more, possessing our soul, permeating our being, living in deeper oneness.

When a soul goes to heaven, they are full of life. All then becomes a life lived for deeper oneness in God.

Shepherds of Christ offers this opportunity to dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

This interior life in Him is ever growing as we surrender ourselves more and more to God.

One bread. One body.

One in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.

One. One. One.

Life in Him.

Deeper and deeper as Fr. Carter's message July 31, 1994 promises.

July 31, 1994

Words of Jesus to Members of
Shepherds of Christ Associates:

"My beloved priest-companion, I intend to use the priestly newsletter, Shepherds of Christ, and the movement, Shepherds of Christ Associates, in a powerful way for the renewal of My Church and the world.

"I will use the newsletter and the chapters of Shepherds of Christ Associates as a powerful instrument for spreading devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart.

"I am calling many to become members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. To all of them I will give great blessings. I will use them as instruments to help bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. I will give great graces to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. I will call them to be deeply united to My Heart and to Mary's Heart as I lead them ever closer to My Father in the Holy Spirit."

- Message from Jesus to Father Edward J. Carter, S.J., Founder, as given on July 31, 1994,
feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Founder of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits)

Sing: Deep Within

R. Deeper in His Heart.

The interior life in Him.

R. Pride can turn on us and destroy us.

Narcissistic

Concern selfishness for ourselves and little concern for others.

The Golden Rule

Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.

If we are to live in peace with others we must balance concern for self and others.

Using talents to do God’s work is healthy pride
Bad pride pushing everybody else out of our way, selfishness.

Everybody trying to criticize Jesus.

We do things to help people. Not doing it for selfish gain.

Very day living to serve Jesus.

$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B     The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A    The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B    At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C    In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Priestly Newsletter — 2000 #1 — CD.Christ is Our Strength — Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our—selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
