Jesus came to give us life –
                    abundant life

                Song: I Love You Jesus

                R. Jesus' miracles were miracles of life:
                    health, sight, hearing

Jesus is the Bread of Life

                It is supernatural –

We receive it from God –
in being in union with God –

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.F

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

A woman was not taken from the head of man
                    so he could dominate her

A woman was not taken from the feet of man –

A woman was taken from the side of man
                    to walk beside him –

A woman was taken under a man's arm
                    so he would protect her

A woman was taken from near a man's heart
so she would be loved by him –

                Jesus: Not an enemy.

                    Not in competition

Not to have man stand on her head and
                        control her

                    Mary is My Mother –

Mary is the only human person
                        conceived without original sin –

                    God made man good
God intended happiness for man –
                        in paradise.

                    God intended friendship with man
But man must obey God –

Eve wanted to be equal to God –

Adam and Eve disobeyed God and rebelled
                    against God –

God created an orderly, peaceful, serene
world and man disobeyed God –

Man brought evil, disorder by his
                    rebellion to God –

The sin of man was one of pride –
                    God was over him –
He wanted to be independent of
                        God's commands –

Man who sins is selfish –

We need penance for our sins

God made a Covenant with Abram

God promised him he would be the Father
                    of a great nation

                He called him Abraham –

God wanted us to be His friends,
                    His children,
                    Share His life

God tells us a lot of His Plan in Christ –

                His love for us –

                Jacob (Israel)

                Moses

                    God had an agreement with
                        His people

He gave us the 10 Commandments
                        told us to obey –

                Jesus is the Savior

God sent prophets to the people –

                R. At the right time the Savior
                    came

The people kept and broke the
                    Covenant with God –

Christ is Central to our relationship
                    with God –

                So the individual Christian, the
Church and the world is in
the state of becoming more and
more in the image of Jesus –

                Jesus Christ is God
Jesus Christ is the Son of God
Jesus Christ came a man, still
                    being a Divine Person –
                    A Divine Person with a
human nature and a Divine nature

Jesus became man and dwelt amongst us –

                Jesus came –

                    St. Luke tells us

Luke 1: 26-38

In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the House of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. He went in and said to her, ‘Rejoice, you who enjoy God’s favour! The Lord is with you.’ She was deeply disturbed by these words and asked herself what this greeting could mean, but the angel said to her, ‘Mary, do not be afraid; you have won God’s favour. Look! You are to conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you must name him Jesus. He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his ancestor David; he will rule over the House of Jacob for ever and his reign will have no end.’ Mary said to the angel, ‘But how can this come about, since I have no knowledge of man?’ The angel answered, ‘The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will cover you with its shadow. And so the child will be holy and will be called Son of God. And I tell you this too: your cousin Elizabeth also, in her old age, has conceived a son, and she whom people called barren is now in her sixth month, for nothing is impossible to God.’ Mary said, ‘You see before you the Lord’s servant, let it happen to me as you have said.’ And the angel left her.

                R. Mary was the Mother of the Messiah –
Son of the Most High –

John 1: 1-18

In the beginning was the Word:
the Word was with God
and the Word was God.
He was with God in the beginning.
Through him all things came into being,
not one thing came into being
   except through him.
What has come into being in him was life,
life that was the light of men;
and light shines in darkness,
and darkness could not overpower it.

A man came, sent by God.
His name was John.
He came as a witness,
to bear witness to the light,
so that everyone might believe
   through him.
He was not the light,
he was to bear witness to the light.

The Word was the real light
that gives light to everyone;
he was coming into the world.
He was in the world
that had come into being through him,
and the world did not recognise him.
He came to his own
and his own people did not accept him.

But to those who did accept him
he gave power to become children of God,
to those who believed in his name
who were born not from human stock
or human desire
or human will
but from God himself.
The Word became flesh,
he lived among us,
and we saw his glory,
the glory that he has from the Father
as only Son of the Father,
full of grace and truth.

John witnesses to him. He proclaims:
‘This is the one of whom I said:
He who comes after me
has passed ahead of me
because he existed before me.’

Indeed, from his fullness
we have, all of us, received—
one gift replacing another,
for the Law was given through Moses,
grace and truth have come
   through Jesus Christ.
No one has ever seen God;
it is the only Son,
who is close to the Father’s heart,
who has made him known.

                R. The Word was made flesh and
                    dwelt amongst us –

                Mary the New Eve –

                Mary was a virgin

                Mary was conceived without sin

                We see before Jesus –

                    Important men were born special
                    Isaac from Sara;
                    Samuel from Anna,
                    John the Baptist from Elizabeth

God Himself honored Mary so much –
                    We honor Mary
                    Mary – full of grace
Mary chosen to be the Mother of God

                R. Say Hail Mary

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the Fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

St. Joseph was very holy –
St. Joseph was a good man –

                St. Joseph supported Mary

We see the early life of Jesus

                    (1) Birth – few details
                    (2) Age 12

for 30 years Jesus lived a hidden
                        life –

                Jesus got tired, hungry,
                    was sad – loved eating
                    and being with friends
                    Jesus suffered –

A child was in art class –
                    drawing a picture –

                The teacher said
                    "Who are you drawing?"

                The child said "God".

                The teacher said
                    "Nobody knows what God
                        looks like."

                The child said
                    "When I get done
                        they will know."

                    great love for us –

Excerpt from Response to God's Love by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

... In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us briefly look at this inner life of God.

The Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent expression of God's fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise, from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in a perfect act of loving.

At the destined moment in human history, God's self-expression, the Word, immersed himself into man's world. God's inner self-expression now had also become God's outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself, about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through Christ.

                R. Jesus is God's love and God's truth
                    given to us in the
                    Person Jesus Christ –
                        made man –

If we want to know how God is
                    we can study Jesus!

                Christ is our model –

We were created in the image and
                    likeness of God.

Jesus teaches us what we are to
                    be like.

                Jesus taught in parables
                Jesus taught us love –
                                . love for us –
. love He laid down His life for us
. love for each other –

                Jesus showed this!

Jesus taught us through miracles –

Jesus taught us to obey God's will!

We have to read the Scriptures to
                    know God!

                God shows us a family

                    Father
                    Son and
                    Holy Spirit
family of love –
family of warmth –

                R. God calls us to share in His life –
God calls us to share in His family –

    John 17
    The Prayer of Jesus

After saying this, Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said:

    Father, the hour has come:
    glorify your Son
    so that your Son may glorify you;
so that, just as you have given him
       power over all humanity,
    he may give eternal life
to all those you have entrusted to him.
    And eternal life is this:
    to know you,
    the only true God,
and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
I have glorified you on earth
    by finishing the work
that you gave me to do.
    Now, Father, glorify me
with that glory I had with you
    before ever the world existed.
    I have revealed your name
to those whom you took from the world
       to give me.
    They were yours
and you gave them to me,
and they have kept your word.
Now at last they have recognised
that all you have given me
       comes from you
    for I have given them
the teaching you gave to me,
and they have indeed accepted it
    and know for certain
       that I came from you,
    and have believed
that it was you who sent me.
It is for them that I pray.
I am not praying for the world
but for those you have given me,
    because they belong to you.
    All I have is yours
and all you have is mine,
and in them I am glorified.
I am no longer in the world,
but they are in the world,
and I am coming to you.
    Holy Father,
keep those you have given me
       true to your name,
so that they may be one like us.
    While I was with them,
I kept those you had given me
       true to your name.
    I have watched over them
       and not one is lost
except one who was destined to be lost,
and this was to fulfil the scriptures.
But now I am coming to you
and I say these things in the world
to share my joy with them to the full.
I passed your word on to them,
    and the world hated them,
because they belong to the world
no more than I belong to the world.
    I am not asking you
to remove them from the world,
but to protect them from the Evil One.
They do not belong to the world
any more than I belong to the world.
    Consecrate them in the truth;
    your word is truth.
As you sent me into the world,
I have sent them into the world,
and for their sake I consecrate myself
    so that they too
       may be consecrated in truth.
I pray not only for these
    but also for those
    who through their teaching
will come to believe in me.
    May they all be one,
just as, Father, you are in me
       and I am in you,
so that they also may be in us,
so that the world may believe
it was you who sent me.
I have given them the glory
       you gave to me,
that they may be one as we are one.
With me in them and you in me,
may they be so perfected in unity
    that the world will recognise
that it was you who sent me
and that you have loved them
    as you have loved me.

    Father,
I want those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may always see my glory
    which you have given me
    because you loved me
before the foundation of the world.
    Father, Upright One,
the world has not known you,
    but I have known you,
    and these have known
    that you have sent me.
I have made your name known to them
and will continue to make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
       may be in them,
and so that I may be in them.

Nicene Creed

I believe in one God,
     the Father, the Almighty,

     maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages,
God from God, Light from Light,

     true God from true God,
     begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
        he came down from heaven:

     and by the Holy Spirit
was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

     For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered, died, and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
           in fulfillment of the Scriptures;
        he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Sing: Glory Be – 3 times

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

                R. Priest is the mediator between God and
                    man –

Jesus is the Chief - Priest –

               Jesus
               is the
               real priest
 Jesus offers man to God
    brings God to man

                R. Jesus is the way

A bridge takes us between two
                    places

                Christ is the way –
Christ is the only way to God –
                Christ is the door

John 10: 11-15

I am the good shepherd:
the good shepherd lays down his life
   for his sheep.
The hired man,
since he is not the shepherd
and the sheep do not belong to him,
abandons the sheep
as soon as he sees a wolf coming,
   and runs away,
and then the wolf attacks
   and scatters the sheep;
he runs away
because he is only a hired man
and has no concern for the sheep.
I am the good shepherd;
I know my own
and my own know me,
just as the Father knows me
and I know the Father;
and I lay down my life for my sheep.

                R. Salvation –

                    Jesus is the Savior –

                    Jesus lifts us above our
                        sinful, selfish, weak
                        selves to being
                        sons of God –
to be holy - unselfish –
                        baptism gives us a sharing
                        in God's life!

                    We are lifted up –
                    We are changed

Christ has come from on high to
                    unite us with Himself –

Christ takes us to the Father –

We receive a NEW LIFE –

Christ unites us to Himself –
He died – He rose –
He gives us the Church and
                        the Sacraments –
We receive the sacrament baptism –
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit
dwell in us in a special way –

God loves us so much –

Jesus took on this suffering and
                    death to pay for our
                    sins –

How do you act in the face
                    of genuine goodness in
                    Christ –
                    Are you like His actions?
                    Are you like His love?

                Jesus died and Jesus rose!

                Song: Glory, Glory, Glory Lord

                R. Jesus suffered and died, was
                    scourged and crucified –

But we must believe in the
                    resurrection!

                Resurrection – Most fantastic –

                Jesus rose from the dead

This is the Good News –

Jesus died and Jesus rose from
                    the dead –

Death - Resurrection

                R. This is life –

                    Jesus died, but He rose
                        from the dead –

                Jesus showed Himself in
                    His risen state before
                    500 brethren –

His victory is our victory –

                Christ is the first fruits

1 Corinthians 15: 20-27

In fact, however, Christ has been raised from the dead, as the first–fruits of all who have fallen asleep. As it was by one man that death came, so through one man has come the resurrection of the dead. Just as all die in Adam, so in Christ all will be brought to life; but all of them in their proper order: Christ the first–fruits, and next, at his coming, those who belong to him. After that will come the end, when he will hand over the kingdom to God the Father, having abolished every principality, every ruling force and power. For he is to be king until he has made his enemies his footstool, and the last of the enemies to be done away with is death, for he has put all things under his feet. But when it is said everything is subjected, this obviously cannot include the One who subjected everything to him.

                R. Christ will return to make
                    us like Himself –

Revelation 22: 20

The one who attests these things says: I am indeed coming soon.

Amen; come, Lord Jesus.

                R. We celebrate baptism

                    Holy Saturday Night!

                Jesus is King –

Jesus rules in the Church –

His rule is a rule of love –

                Jesus will rule forever –
