                R. The devil tries to show
                    right is wrong and
                    wrong is right

We can have false compassion for the
                    guy doing something wrong

The devil wants to abolish good rules —

The devil wants rules to promote his way —
Like - Is it okay to kill —

Also - it is okay to disobey authority and
Then one can feel sorry for the
one disobeying — (this is wrong)

How can you establish a rule?

Relativism — this is wrong —
                    your truth
                    my truth

                False Compassion
                Lying —
Let People off that have done something wrong —

Nobody wants to be wrong —

Some just want to do what
                    they want to do

Not everybody is made for books
                    and should go to college

                What are your talents?

                Sin should be hated
                Sinner loved
                Sinner is corrected —
Call the sin a sin —

                Somebody is doing something
                    wrong —

They need to be corrected —

                Obedience to the rules —
                Can't have it both ways

Rule — { is it okay to disobey
its okay to obey

1 Corinthians 5: 1-8

It is widely reported that there is sexual immorality among you, immorality of a kind that is not found even among gentiles: that one of you is living with his stepmother. And you so filled with your own self-importance! It would have been better if you had been grieving bitterly, so that the man who has done this thing were turned out of the community. For my part, however distant I am physically, I am present in spirit and have already condemned the man who behaved in this way, just as though I were present in person. When you have gathered together in the name of our Lord Jesus, with the presence of my spirit, and in the power of our Lord Jesus, hand such a man over to Satan, to be destroyed as far as natural life is concerned, so that on the Day of the Lord his spirit may be saved.

Your self-satisfaction is ill founded. Do you not realise that only a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough? Throw out the old yeast so that you can be the fresh dough, unleavened as you are. For our Passover has been sacrificed, that is, Christ; let us keep the feast, then, with none of the old yeast and no leavening of evil and wickedness, but only the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

                Love is eternal

1 Corinthians 9: 16-19

In fact, preaching the gospel gives me nothing to boast of, for I am under compulsion and I should be in trouble if I failed to do it. If I did it on my own initiative I would deserve a reward; but if I do it under compulsion I am simply accepting a task entrusted to me. What reward do I have, then? That in my preaching I offer the gospel free of charge to avoid using the rights which the gospel allows me.

So though I was not a slave to any human being, I put myself in slavery to all people, to win as many as I could.

                The man who sins and
                    is wounded — has wounded
                    himself with his sin —

Then like a child waiting for one to
come and kiss their boo boo —
                    they sit in vain —
for no human heart will ever know
the depth of their abuse they bring
                    on themselves by victimizing themselves
with angry thoughts of how the innocent
other, they think, wounded them today —

When their wounds are from the past —
their emotions from their own folly
not to recognize how their own
                    thoughts victimized themselves
by their lies and the deception
                    of satan —

Jesus: Come out men — you hire him as
                    your wrapper to bound you
up more and more in your misery —

When your misery is self-made by your
victimizing yourself with your thoughts —

Satan is the great deceiver —
he uses your old memories as
clothes in the closet you wear that day and

You act out your old misery on people
who were not even there when
                    you found your miserable dresses
you keep under lock and key and
choose so freely, on a sunny day —

I created the sun to shine for you, My love —

You go to your closet and choose the
misery dress and I died for you
to live a life of love and help
                    build My Kingdom

The child of the past can be
steeped in pain and wounds and
he can sit on his little chair
waiting and waiting for a person
I sent to them today for building
                    My Kingdom —
to come and kiss their boo boo —

Sit on your sour lemon — you
made it sour by giving into
                    the deception of satan —
                    he tricked you and
you gave your power to him —

No baby sitting on a pity-pot will
win the victory of the race
                    I put before you —

I call you to action from the heart —
To loving and being loved —
                To giving as
I came forth from the tomb —
I dropped the burial cloths —
I give you the dance of victory —
                    the race of love

                R. The dress we wear
                    is of our own
                    choosing —

                living a virtuous life —
                    one of love is most
                    likened to Christ —

                giving into the wounded human
                    nature is living by
                    that which leads to
                    darkness.

                    R. Dear Jesus — we want to make a spiritual
                        communion, we cannot receive You
now, but we want to know Your
presence deep in our heart —
deep in our soul — Oh God fill us
with Your presence that we can
just focus on You and Your love
for us now — Love deep in us —
                        Oneness with You —
Quite surrender to be alone in
this moment with You in our heart
                        in deep love —
We love You so much our beloved
                        God —

        Prayer of St Ignatius

Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from the side of Christ wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Permit me not to be separated from Thee
From the wicked foe defend me
at the hour of my death call me
and bid me come to Thee
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee
For ever and ever. Amen.

Through the same Christ Our Lord. R.  Amen.

Christ has risen to bring us new
                    life —

Christ is truly present and in our

We have Christ in us when we
                    receive the Eucharist —

Christ is no less present in

Excerpt from July 26, 1994

Jesus:  I come to you in such a special way and many do not even know what a treasure they possess. This is My Body you receive. This is My Blood you receive. I come inside of you to be so closely united to you.

Do you see the love I want to share with you. I give you the sacrament of My greatest love. I come to dwell, Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity, within your very breast!

I am love. I give My love to you in this most sacred mystery. I am so full of love for you, My sweet ones.

Pray For The Success Of The Priestly Newsletter - Shepherds of Christ

R. The following is the first official message I received before the statue of Mary at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. It is a personal message for Father Carter.

Mary: (in front of the glowing statue of Our Lady of Sorrows) I am the Immaculate Heart. My Heart is glowing for love of all my beloved children. I am your most loving Mother. I am with you this day. Pray for the success of the priestly newsletter Shepherds of Christ. I am guarding your way. You will receive such graces to accomplish this task! Grace from God is so abundantly bestowed on you and will lead to the success of this endeavor! Pray for this cause at the Center. The priests will lead the people to the love of My beloved Son. This is no little task. It will take many prayers and graces. Pray hard, little one. Your prayers will change many hearts.

I am Mary, your Immaculate Mother. I bring this message to My beloved priest-son.

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994

He took me to the realms of knowing
Him so deeply — in my heart He touched me
and I knew so deeply His love —

Union with God — to ponder deeply how
the Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwell deeply in our
graced, baptized soul — I know the reality
of this so deeply in me — I know I am never
alone — God's love permeates my being —
His presence I know — I can call on the Holy
Spirit and He enlightens me —

Oh Come Holy Spirit, my friend, I love You
so much, You are so real to me — I know
                You dwelling in me —

At the consecration of the Mass, I cry
because I know more the great gift
taking place and the gifts God is giving
us in praying so deeply at that moment —
This is reality — what I may not see I believe —
this is faith — growing ever deeper in these
                hidden mysteries of God —

Reading the scripture with eyes open more
and more to its contents, heart burning, light
from God in our intellect so united to love in
                our heart, to comprehend
more and love more deeply knowledge of our
                beloved in our heart —

This is real, guys, I cry out — the Word, the
Eucharist — the Bread of Life — God's presence
                in us —

                    Oh God thank You
I want to adore You and love You
I want to pray the prayer of the angel of
                        peace who appeared at Fatima

From the Angel's first message at Fatima

"My God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love You! I ask pardon of You for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love You."

Then, rising he said: "Pray thus. The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive to the voice of your supplications."

To think of receiving the Eucharist the day
before, the night before — to ponder such a gift
given to us — this is such a gift

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

A Prayer before the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass

Let me be a holy sacrifice and unite with God in the sacrament of His greatest love.

I want to be one in Him in this act of love, where He gives Himself to me and I give myself as a sacrifice to Him. Let me be a holy sacrifice as I become one with Him in this my act of greatest love to Him.

Let me unite with Him more, that I may more deeply love Him. May I help make reparation to His adorable Heart and the heart of His Mother, Mary. With greatest love, I offer myself to You and pray that You will accept my sacrifice of greatest love. I give myself to You and unite in Your gift of Yourself to me. Come and possess my soul.

Cleanse me, strengthen me, heal me. Dear Holy Spirit act in the heart of Mary to make me more and more like Jesus.

Father, I offer this my sacrifice, myself united to Jesus in the Holy Spirit to You. Help me to love God more deeply in this act of my greatest love.

Give me the grace to grow in my knowledge, love and service of You and for this to be my greatest participation in the Mass. Give me the greatest graces to love You so deeply in this Mass, You who are so worthy of my love.

Prayers Will Transform Your Land

R. Light comes every day. There was total darkness throughout the land and as quietly as could be the morning light shone over this same land. Do we question that there existed total darkness and then the light appeared in such grandeur?

Jesus: There will be darkness throughout the earth; men's hearts will turn cold and dark and the light of the love of God will, as quietly, steal across these same hearts and transform them into hearts on fire and alive. What, My child, will do this? The power of the Almighty God can change men's hearts that are dead in sin to hearts that are alive and vibrant, radiating the love of God. Pray, My little one, more than anything you do, your prayers will be that which transforms your land from darkness to light. Only the might of the Almighty God can do this. This is a miracle. A heart, dead in sin, can be touched by the hand of God.

Live My love in your hearts. You are My hands to this dark world. You radiate the love of God from your very being. The most important thing you can do for this earth is to develop your love affair with God. Everything follows from that. If your hearts are set on the Lord, your might will be great. You will shine in the darkest night. The darker the night, the brighter your light. My light is so bright that nothing can compare to or equal this light. Its intensity shines brighter than ever against the dark night.

Oh, My children, if you only believed as you should. You worry for needless tasks. You see the world and you think you control it. You, children, control nothing. I never slumber, I never sleep, I never go away. My light is a vibrant force that shines from the hearts centered in My love.

Keep your hearts pure. Be about your love affair with Me. Come to My altar and receive the one, true God, totally present and in your midst this very day. Sit with Me and soak in My might. Come to the tabernacle. I am the Almighty God. I cast a light from the tabernacle that penetrates your soul. You are filled with My power. I am the Almighty God, truly present there. No less present than the day I walked this earth.

You, My little ones, need to spread this good news. Jesus Christ is Lord. He has died, He is risen, He is in your midst this very day! Come to Me, My little babies, and sit with Me. I await with such gifts for you to come. My Heart is burning for love of you. I penetrate your soul with My might. Come and be transformed by the light of Christ. Sit before Me in the tabernacle. You will receive such power as My might transforms your soul. You needn't fret and worry. Pray children, offer your days up to the Father, through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Offer your lives for all your brothers, living and dead. You have a mighty weapon. Pray. Do not spend time in idle talk discussing the hardened hearts of this world. Offer your days in prayer. Pray constantly. I am the Almighty God. I go before you, I will light the way.

Keep your hearts ever set on the mysteries of Christ. It is through Me you will reach such heights. I am the Almighty God. I go before you. I gave My life that you would live. I loved you to My death, My sweet children. Come to Me and I will give you rest.

Alleluia.

Be The Light That Shines In The Darkness

R. The devil wants to put out the light of Christ that shines from your hearts.

Jesus: You are the light that shines in the dark night.

To be My light shining forth to this world you must come and take refuge in My most Sacred Heart. I came as a little Child into your midst. The star shone bright above Me and I entered into this world. I am He Who lights the dark night. You will cast this light to this world if you are fixed in Me. Be the light that shines in the darkness. I am the Light of this world. You are My little lights that shine so deeply into the darkness. My Heart is a burning flame. When you take refuge in My Heart you are a light to the dark world. Come and dwell deeply in My most Sacred Heart, placed there by My most dear Mother.

Be as you are called by the Father, to shine forth to this world. I am He Who calls you now to go forth and light up this world with the fire of My most Sacred Heart. The love of the one, triune God, is that which powers you. If you are in the state of grace, Our life is so alive in you. You will radiate Our love to this world. My flame of love never falters. Take shelter from every affliction in My Sacred Heart.

I am the Sacred Heart of Jesus. I want to light this world with My love. Let Me shine and operate from you. Pray My Prayer for Union with Me. Offer yourself totally to the Father with Me in the Holy Spirit at every Mass. Stand under the cross with Mary and give yourself in total surrender to the Father. He has such plans for you. He loves you so much. You are the light that shines in the darkness. Let your light shine and they will see the God Who dwells in your breast. You are so loved, My most precious child. I am Jesus, My Heart is aglow for love of you.

R. The devil comes and brings with him a mask of darkness. He is deception. He is confusion. It takes a step to willingly open our hearts to God, to let the Holy Spirit in our hearts and let Him fill us with His life! We cannot close our heart. Let go! We must be open and surrendering.

Jesus loved us so much He gave His life. The Father loved us so much He gave His only Son. The Spirit is the love between the Father and the Son. The Son knows the Father's love. It was this that gave Him strength on Calvary. He always knew the Father's love. It is love that gives us peace. The more we realize the intense love of the Father, the greater our peace. We are so loved by Father, Son and Holy Spirit. They love us in a way we cannot imagine. God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit dwell within us in a special way when we are in the state of grace.

It is this love that fills me and gives me peace and joy. God is love. His love within us gives us our peace.

Oh, Holy Spirit, come and fill me, as You did the apostles and Mary, with the fire of God's love, so I am no longer afraid but fearlessly in love with God, that I preach His gospel in my being to all I meet. Make me holy, oh Spirit, sanctify me with Your love. I am Yours, open and surrendering. I am Your servant, You are my God!

R. I am realizing there is a constant presence of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Jesus stood before the crowd when they condemned Him to death. He was surrounded by hatred and the mob agreed that our beloved Jesus, Who is love, deserved to be crucified. He had done nothing but give love, but through the hardness of their hearts they surrounded Him and condemned Him to death.

The devil is, oh, so cunning. He is callous. He is hate-filled. He wells up in men's hearts and acts through them. When we are persecuted by those around us, by one person, by many, the example of Jesus is what we must follow. The devil is so strong. There will be more mass persecutions of us, as Christians. By mass, I mean, several or more persons taking a stand against us and persecuting us. Whenever I am innocent and being attacked by several persons accusing me of a misdeed, Satan is at work.

But, the interior awareness of God is what will sustain us! Jesus had a constant awareness of the love between Him and the Father. Jesus knew all the men who persecuted Him and loved them. Jesus had a constant awareness of each person, the divine, unique creation of the Father. He saw all this hatred before Him and still loved these people as the Father loved them.

Jesus: They may persecute you, My child, several in number, and you will stand as the mighty oak. Your roots are rooted firmly in the love of God, and you are aware of My presence within you always. You are never abandoned. Everything that happens, I am allowing. The very hairs of your head are numbered.

R. Jesus stood condemned to death. Jesus, tied to a pillar, allowed men to tear His precious Flesh away. He bled the very Blood in His veins. How did Jesus still love such ruthless men? The constant awareness of men as "divinely created" allowed Him to love them as God the Father's creatures. He saw the divine creation of the Father and loved them. He is one with the Father. He knew the Father's love. He knew the Father's will and He, Who is God, could have stopped all of it, but He wanted to do the will of His Father. He thought of us and His love, so deep for us, and endured all He had to suffer for our salvation.

Jesus: My Blood was spent. My Life was given. I am He Who died and has risen so that you might have new life! In every death there is the resurrection into new life.

R. To constantly keep the Resurrection before our eyes when we experience suffering is a key factor in living the new life.

Jesus: I come to bring you life that you may have it to the fullest. When they persecute you and holler every slander against you, keep your eyes forever set on your heavenly Kingdom.

Vision

I went to Falmouth with Fr. Carter - that morning I had an experience with Mary's suffering in the back of the same chapel where Mary was appearing to me daily. I suffered so much and was so weak I thought I would not be able to go to Falmouth with Fr. Carter that day. I was suffering in the morning. At 5:00 p.m. I again went to the chapel at the old seminary. I sat in front of the Sacred Heart picture at the main altar, in front of the tabernacle and started to cry. This went on for 20 minutes. The Sacred Heart picture illuminated. The picture remained illuminated for 20 minutes. There was a candle with the Sacred Heart image on it, it was by the picture and it too was lighted. Then the light on the picture, the candle, and the sunlight in the room simultaneously grew dark. I could faintly see the image of Jesus in the picture, it was covered with a black covering. I sat there and stared at the picture, trying to see Jesus, but could barely see through the black covering or darkness - I saw Him a little. It remained this way for about 3 or 4 minutes. Then, slowly, the lights came on, simultaneously they grew brighter and brighter. It took about one minute. Then the lights were brighter than before.

I Know More the Person of the Trinity

R. I am realizing more and more the Presence of God at all times. Interiorly, I am constantly aware of this Presence of Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This Presence is so strong that I cannot feel abandoned.

I am as the baby at the breast. I know my loving Father more and more and I know He will care for me. I know that Jesus and the Holy Spirit are forever with me. I feel as if I have a coating on me, between me and the world, and I am so protected by this interior union.

No one can ever touch this union with God. This is why I live to be forever connected as one with Him. The more I become one in Him, the more I experience this protection.

The wind may come and blow, you may be rocked in your place, but the interior life of the love of God is forever in my breast.

I have an awareness more and more that I love my brothers so much as I see them as created by my loving Father. He loves them so much. He is one with them. How can I not love them? I see less their faults and more their beauty as His creation. I know Jesus gave the last drop of His Blood for them and would die for them this very day. How could I hate anyone that He loves so much! To love Jesus is to love my brother. I cannot love Jesus and hate my brother. He is one with them. He is so good and loving. I love Him. I am one in Him and He is one in me. My brother is one in Him. If I am one with Jesus and I love Jesus, then I must love my brother because he is one with Jesus and we are all one, united in Him.

I am constantly aware that He allows everything that happens and I must accept it. If He allows me to suffer, it is with great love He allows this suffering. He forever watches us and guards us and loves us. A little child doesn't stop and think about its mother's care and love. The child knows and operates with the assuredness he will be taken care of.

Lord, give to me the assuredness of a little child. Let me know I am forever loved by You. Let me operate with this certainly of Your love.

God is loving and caring for me.

To feel the oneness with You, Lord. I want to know oneness with Jesus. Jesus knew oneness with the Father in His passion. Help me to know God's love without stopping and thinking, "God loves me so I will be okay."  The more I grow in this oneness of Him, I have a constant awareness of the love of Father, Son and Holy Spirit and Mary and I do not have to think about it. I act with this assuredness. I don't feel frightened because I know Their love. I don't have to stop and think, They love me, I know it, I am united to Them!

Put on Christ, be Christ to one another, let Him dwell within you, become one in Him. I am living more and more in Him. I realize His presence, the presence of the Trinity within me. I am thirsty for God's love!

Jesus: I am the Way, I am the Truth, I am the Life. He who abides in Me will live forever. I give you My very own flesh. The way to the Father is through Me, the Holy Spirit is the love between the Father and Me. You, My children, are the chosen ones. The more you realize Our presence within you, the more you become one in God.

I am the Alpha and the Omega. I Am Who Am. I am God and I, child, write this to you. In 40 minutes you receive this teaching. I love you dearly. I want you, My precious one, to share My love with this world. If you, who I talk to, hold back, who will know the love I pour out to you here? I am God, one, true, magnificent - without end. Do not tarry for I go before you.

I Cry for the Souls

R. Notes: When the Host was raised, I kept hearing with emotion the song, "This is My Body". He was talking about passion before Mass. I heard, "This is My Blood". This triggered all His explanations of how He gave His very Flesh and Blood for us.

I wanted to cry. Tears came down. I was filled with immense emotion, couldn't look at Mary's statue. I love Him so much. I am aware of all the souls that will be lost because they do not know His love. I know it so well. I can't speak.

The world stands still and it is so clear to me about the existence of the other side. It is as if I am not here. I know His love so much. He is so much ONE with me. I want to help others to know this love!

He died so they would go to heaven and what do I do to tell others of this love?

I love Him so much and I love all others because they are one in Him and I want to spread His love.

My heart is torn apart in my chest for souls that I know will be lost because they did not know Him and He wants to love them so much. He loves them so much that He gave His Flesh and Blood for them.

I cry for the souls that are on the way to hell if they do not change. I cry for the senseless ones. I cry for my beloved brothers whom I love so deeply.

Crying is no way to release agonies of the heart. That is why He sweat Blood. That is why Mary appears crying blood, her face cracked.

This is reality. This is the world. These are His beloved ones. God, the Father, loves them so dearly. Jesus died for them. The Holy Spirit loves them so. Mary is by their sides and with all this, they will be lost forever to hell if they do not change.

Prayer is the answer. No drop of water will ever quench their thirst if they go to hell. Our prayers are our love for our brothers.

Mary: My children, my heart was pierced with a sword to watch my beloved Son suffer so for love of you. Pray the rosary for our beloved brothers. Sacrifice, offer your days in union with the Mass for their souls. Time is so short, my beloved ones. Pray, pray, pray. Your prayers can help save the lives of your brothers. Time is short. I am Mary, your Mother and thank you for responding to my call.

Things Went Dark, Then Immense Light

R. I suffered the greatest sorrow within my heart for the sorrows of Mary. I had gone to Mass and the priest had done the peace rosary.

This is what would happen to me at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. My heart would be in such anguish because of the sorrows of Mary I experienced. I would be buckled over in pain. This day I was before the Sorrowful Mother statue in the back of the main chapel. We were going to the Falmouth, Kentucky Farm, that day to pray. I was so drained and weak from this experience, I thought I could not go. I was weakened, so weakened, the experience lasted about an hour and was so intense. I existed in this intense pain of the Immaculate Heart.

That afternoon we came for the 6:30 p.m. prayers where Our Lady would appear. At 6:00 p.m. I went to the tabernacle in the Rosary Chapel and there was this picture of Jesus to the left of the tabernacleImage of the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart and a candle with the Sacred Heart of Jesus on it. There was sunlight in the room from the rosary windows. I sat before the tabernacle on the altar as I had done so many times, before the picture and left of the tabernacle. I began to experience the deepest agony of His Heart. I knew the sorrow of His Heart for all who do not come before Him in the Blessed Sacrament. I knew His sorrow so deep within me for all the blocks I had experienced in delivering the messages. I was so weakened and I was suffering. Then the lights in the room dimmed and the picture of the Sacred Heart turned black before me. I could very faintly see His outline behind the blackness. The candle of the Sacred Heart went out. I sat on the end of my chair in pain and suffering and a fear shot through me. I wondered what had happened. It remained this way for about 5 minutes.

Then the light in the room returned, the candle went on and the picture became bright, all instantaneously, brighter than ever before. I went to the back of the chapel where Mary would appear, to do the 6:30 p.m. prayers and I cried. I was so shaken from the experience. Father Carter was there for the prayers. I was told to tell Father Smith, which I did.

                Song: God's Love

                Today's Readings

1 Corinthians 4: 1-5

People should think of us as Christ's servants, stewards entrusted with the mysteries of God. In such a matter, what is expected of stewards is that each one should be found trustworthy. It is of no importance to me how you or any other human court may judge me: I will not even be the judge of my own self. It is true that my conscience does not reproach me, but that is not enough to justify me: it is the Lord who is my judge. For that reason, do not judge anything before the due time, until the Lord comes; he will bring to light everything that is hidden in darkness and reveal the designs of all hearts. Then everyone will receive from God the appropriate commendation.

Psalm 37: 3-6, 27-28, 39-40

Bet
Put your trust in Yahweh and do right,
make your home in the land and live secure.
Make Yahweh your joy
and he will give you your heart’s desires.

Gimel
Commit your destiny to Yahweh,
be confident in him, and he will act,
making your uprightness clear as daylight,
and the justice of your cause as the noon.

Samek
Turn your back on evil and do good,
you will have a home for ever,
for Yahweh loves justice
and will not forsake his faithful.

Ain
Evil-doers will perish eternally,
the descendants of the wicked be annihilated,

Taw
The upright have Yahweh for their Saviour,
their refuge in times of trouble;
Yahweh helps them and rescues them,
he will rescue them from the wicked,
and save them because they take refuge in him.

                Alleluia verse

John 8: 12

I am the light of the world;

anyone who follows me ...

will have the light of life.

Luke 5: 33-39

They then said to him, 'John's disciples are always fasting and saying prayers, and the disciples of the Pharisees, too, but yours go on eating and drinking.' Jesus replied, 'Surely you cannot make the bridegroom's attendants fast while the bridegroom is still with them? But the time will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them; then, in those days, they will fast.'

He also told them a parable, 'No one tears a piece from a new cloak to put it on an old cloak; otherwise, not only will the new one be torn, but the piece taken from the new will not match the old.

'And nobody puts new wine in old wineskins; otherwise, the new wine will burst the skins and run to waste, and the skins will be ruined. No; new wine must be put in fresh skins. And nobody who has been drinking old wine wants new. "The old is good," he says.'

                Practice what you preach —

                First Saturday Readings

1 Corinthians 4: 6-15

I have applied all this to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that you can learn how the saying, 'Nothing beyond what is written' is true of us: no individual among you must become filled with his own importance and make comparisons, to another's detriment. Who made you so important? What have you got that was not given to you? And if it was given to you, why are you boasting as though it were your own? You already have everything—you are rich already—you have come into your kingdom, without any help from us! Well, I wish you were kings and we could be kings with you! For it seems to me that God has put us apostles on show right at the end, like men condemned to death: we have been exhibited as a spectacle to the whole universe, both angelic and human. Here we are, fools for Christ's sake, while you are the clever ones in Christ; we are weak, while you are strong; you are honoured, while we are disgraced. To this day, we go short of food and drink and clothes, we are beaten up and we have no homes; we earn our living by labouring with our own hands; when we are cursed, we answer with a blessing; when we are hounded, we endure it passively; when we are insulted, we give a courteous answer. We are treated even now as the dregs of the world, the very lowest scum.

I am writing all this not to make you ashamed but simply to remind you, as my dear children; for even though you might have ten thousand slaves to look after you in Christ, you still have no more than one father, and it was I who fathered you in Christ Jesus, by the gospel.

Luke 6: 1-5

It happened that one Sabbath he was walking through the cornfields, and his disciples were picking ears of corn, rubbing them in their hands and eating them. Some of the Pharisees said, 'Why are you doing something that is forbidden on the Sabbath day?' Jesus answered them, 'So you have not read what David did when he and his followers were hungry - how he went into the house of God and took the loaves of the offering and ate them and gave them to his followers, loaves which the priests alone are allowed to eat?' And he said to them, 'The Son of man is master of the Sabbath.'

                Say Soul of Christ

        Prayer of St Ignatius

Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from the side of Christ wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Permit me not to be separated from Thee
From the wicked foe defend me
at the hour of my death call me
and bid me come to Thee
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee
For ever and ever. Amen.
