THE JOYFUL, SORROWFUL, AND GLORIOUS MYSTERIES

The Joyful Mysteries

1. Annunciation - Messenger: The angel appears to the New Eve.
2. Visitation - The infant John leaps in the womb of Elizabeth. He is the one who would cry in the desert to make ready a way for the Lord.
3. Birth - The New Eve brings forth the New Adam — from the womb of a human person — Christ, the New Adam, is brought forth .

4. Presentation - The New Adam is brought to the temple.
   Simeon says:
   Luke 2: 29-32
       The Nunc Dimittis
       Now, Master, you are letting
       your servant go in peace
       as you promised;
       for my eyes have seen the salvation
       which you have made ready
       in the sight of the nations;
       a light of revelation for the gentiles
       and glory for your people Israel.

Luke 2: 34-35

Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, ‘Look, he is destined for the fall and for the rise of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is opposed -- and a sword will pierce your soul too — so that the secret thoughts of many may be laid bare.’

5. Finding in the Temple

Luke 2: 46-49

It happened that, there days later, they found him in the Temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them, and asking them questions; and all those who heard him were astounded at his intelligence and his replies. They were overcome when they saw him, and his mother said to him, ‘My child, why have you done this to us? See how worried your father and I have been, looking for you.’ He replied, ‘Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?’

Messenger: The New Adam conformed perfectly to the will of the Father.

The Sorrowful Mysteries

Messenger: Adam and Eve sinned in the garden by eating from the tree — look at the New Adam. He is in the garden, He is tied to the tree of the cross on Calvary. There was a garden there. Look at the relationships between gardens and trees.

1. Agony in the Garden - God told Adam he would sweat for sinning in the garden.The New Adam sweats Blood in the garden.
2. Whipping at the Pillar - The New Adam is tied—held bound and whipped for our sins.
3. The Crowning -The vine is wrapped around the New Adam’s head and the thorns are pounded in — all parts of a tree. See how we paid for the sin committed by eating the fruit of the tree. See that the piercing crown is a product of a tree-like material. He is the vine, He is the One Who was crowned with the thorns.
4. Carrying of the Cross -The New Adam drags the tree. A dog is one of lower nature than us. Would we give ourselves for one of lower nature? God gives Himself for the creatures of lower nature. God drags the cross (tree) laden with the sins of the human race.
5. Death on the Cross -The New Adam hangs on that tree to His death doing the Father’s will.

The Glorious Mysteries

1. Resurrection - The New Adam rises from the dead. The earth was dead in sin. He set the captives free.
2. Ascension - The New Adam goes into heaven.

The Apostles Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day he arose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven; sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

3. The Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the New Eve.
   John 16: 7
       Still, I am telling you the truth:
       it is for your own good that I am going,
       because unless I go,
       the Paraclete will not come to you;
       but if I go,
       I will send him to you.

4. The New Eve is assumed into heaven.
5. The New Eve is crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth.
   Revelation 12: 1
   Now a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman, robed with the sun, standing on the moon, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
