R. I STOOD BENEATH THE CROSS

– INTERCESSION

Mass

– Love for souls

– Fighting the devil

Unite to the Mass

All the Masses

Souls are going into hell –

We must pray and teach men to be handmaids
    people of prayer

God put us here to work with
    each other –
to be united – to love –
to learn about love as we
give and take in relationships –
    loving and forgiving and
    trying to work in meaningful
    relationships of love with
    each other –

We see the love between the Father
    and the Son –
When we love Jesus – we are
so one with God the Father –

We need to know the Father's love
        to have unity –

God is not like our imperfect
    human father –

God the Father is absolute truth –
God the Father is pure love –

God has Divine Love
God loves us so much –

How can we reject this love
    God has for us –

Loving and accepting love
is what we are to learn
    in our life –

Loving God
Loving others
Loving ourselves –

Mary stands beneath the
    altar interceding with
    us at Mass –

Our prayers united are
    so powerful –

Mary is the servant of God
Mary is the perfect handmaid of the Lord –

                R. Man was created for God. We can have so
much money, wealth, power, good looks,
but nothing here can completely satisfy
                us on earth.

                    I received a special gift December 15, 1995 and
I talked about it on December 17 and December 18
in the Mass Book. To realize more and
                more life is IN HIM.

                R. We must reach with the soul. The body
exists for the soul. We need the interior
union ever deeper in Him – God: Father, Son and
Holy Spirit and we cannot be completely satisfied
on this earth. We cannot – God made us
for heaven – to have the beatific vision –
perfection in our soul in heaven –
to be full of His life eternally in
                heaven –

So the devil can tempt a person and they
can give in when they are bored –
tempt a person with more and more power –
tempt a person with more and more wealth –
These things outside the soul do not bring
us happiness – real happiness –
God created us for Him –
Only God can truly satisfy us –

We always have a longing to be complete
                here below –

The Blue Books are so important
because they teach us about life IN Him.
The Blue Books deal with the interior
                life –

God wants a Personal love union
                with us.

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994

                R. Only God can satisfy the stalking soul –
We must seek union with Him eternally
in heaven, in the beatific vision –
we were created for this –

Cling to Me

May 13, 1993

Jesus: My dear child, if you stay close to Me, then I live in you and you live in Me. I am He Who created you and I love you with such an intensity that you will never know. My words are your truth. You must abide in My heart in all things. There is no room for doubt. My ways are steadfast, direct, and without error.

You must stay rooted in Me to ward off the power of the evil one. His grip is paralyzing and crippling. His power is stronger every day.

When you live in Me, I am in your heart and he has no power over Me. I am your God. I am your true lover. I want to protect you. I want to guard you from this force. Stay rooted firmly in Me and he will have no power.

I am He Who comforts you. My hand is upon you. Hold tight to Me, My child. My eyes are fixed right on you. You are My most precious child. I love you as no other can. My arms are about you. My tenderness surrounds you. My love is in your heart. You go not alone. I walk with you.

I share every aspect of your life with you. Cling to Me, feel My presence. It is warm and secure within your chest. There is no room for fear, for I cast out fear and bring you comfort and joy.

John 3: 16-18

For this is how God loved the world:
    he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
        may not perish
    but may have eternal life.
For God sent his Son into the world
    not to judge the world,
    but so that through him
        the world might be saved.
No one who believes in him
    will be judged;
    but whoever does not believe
        is judged already,
because that person does not believe
in the Name of God’s only Son.

                    From May 18, 2005 message

                           Prayer for these 17 days

Dear God help me to be other focused

Help me to be a source of joy.
Help me to thank You for the gifts
                                   You have given me.

Help me not to block the work
you have called us to do by
                                   focusing on myself

                               When pilgrims come, help me
                                   to have grace to spread
                                   the message You have
                                   called me to spread.

Dear God help me to be holy — to see
I am a little link in the big
chain, a single link to help
                                   lead the world into oneness
and love. When I focus on
myself and do not do the work
of being a light and I am
to talk to pilgrims I can
                                   miss an opportunity to spread
                                   your love, through the materials,
                                   prayers, letters of love, consecration,
                                   morning offering You have asked
                                    me to spread.

Dear God thank You for calling me to
                                   be an apostle, (handmaid, servant
etc.) help me to do Your will.

Excerpt from May 19, 2005

Jesus speaks:     Now I want you close to Me.

When you awaken you think of your lover
and your heart skips a beat —
You are filled with energy —
You are the spouse of the Divine God

I give Myself to you every day in the Eucharist.

Today I paint for you a sky of blue,
                                    clouds of white —
I give you the fresh air —
I give you My daintiest flowers —

My Heart is filled with burning love
for you My little damsel —

My Heart is a burning vat of
endless love on fire for you —

My Father fashioned you from His
special oven and gave you so
many talents to do His work —

Think of all the gifts you have been
                                    given —
you grew from a little mite
to be big and strong like a
                                    cedar tree
And in your branches He put
                                        the potential to bear lots
and lots of fruit that lasts —

Now today I come to you My blushing
bride and I ask you to serve Me —
to love Me, to be a light to
                                all —

I tell you sweet words in your ear and
                                in your heart
words of love you long to hear —
words from the Divine lover —
                                the Divine God —

Let your heart burn with love for
your God — let your heart beat
with such love for your Maker —

Oh the world has turned sterile in
so many parts and My Heart is
ablaze with love for the creatures
                                of this earth —

Tell them   name , tell them — My
little ones are thirsting for My
words of love and you hold back
your tongue, when I want you
to deliver My messages of love
                                to them —

Messenger:        Oh Lord we have offended you in not
recognizing your gifts to us and
                                spreading the Good News
                                you have given us.

Open God our closed hearts —
Let us see that you are so close and
so filled with love for us — . . .

                R. We ask you to pray with us for the
priests, the Church and the world.

July 31, 1994

Words of Jesus to Members of
Shepherds of Christ Associates:

"My beloved priest-companion, I intend to use the priestly newsletter, Shepherds of Christ, and the movement, Shepherds of Christ Associates, in a powerful way for the renewal of My Church and the world.

"I will use the newsletter and the chapters of Shepherds of Christ Associates as a powerful instrument for spreading devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart.

"I am calling many to become members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. To all of them I will give great blessings. I will use them as instruments to help bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. I will give great graces to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. I will call them to be deeply united to My Heart and to Mary's Heart as I lead them ever closer to My Father in the Holy Spirit."

- Message from Jesus to Father Edward J. Carter, S.J., Founder, as given on July 31, 1994,
feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Founder of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits)

                    gave Fr. Carter.

Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus

My dear fellow Associate Members,

Jesus is calling special apostles to join a new division of the Shepherds of Christ Movement. Here is a message from Jesus given to Father Carter:

My beloved priest-companion, I am requesting that a new prayer movement be started under the direction of Shepherds of Christ Ministries. I am asking for volunteers who are willing to pray before the Blessed Sacrament for one hour, twice-weekly. Members of the Shepherds of Christ prayer chapters, as well as others, are to be invited to join this movement.

These apostles are to pray for the intentions I am giving you. For part of the hour they are to use the prayers of the Shepherds of Christ Associates Handbook. They may spend the rest of the hour as they so choose.

I will use this new prayer movement within My Shepherds of Christ Ministries in a powerful way to help in the renewal of My Church and the world. I will give great graces to those who join this movement. The name, Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, is to be given to this movement.

I am inviting My beloved Rita Ring to be coordinator for this activity.

I pour out the great love of My Sacred Heart to all. I am Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock.

This is indeed a special calling for us to unite in one heart with His Eucharistic Heart and pray for the following intentions:

    1. For the spread of the devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary culminating in the reign of the Sacred Heart and the triumph of the Immaculate Heart.
    2. For the Pope.
    3. For all bishops of the world.
    4. For all priests.
    5. For all sisters and brothers in the religious life.
    6. For all members of the Shepherds of Christ Movement, and for the spread of this movement to the world.
    7. For all members of the Catholic Church.
    8. For all members of the human family.
    9. For all souls in purgatory.

end of Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart message

                R. We are working on Fr. Joe's 10 book
                of homilies –
                We are almost done –
Will you please pray for this
                and help us.
We are about ready to send
                    to print –

Fear of God, a gift of the Holy Spirit
is a fear that we do not want
                to be separated from God.

We love God so much we do
not want to offend Him and
                have separation with Him.

We would never want to rebel
                against God our Beloved.

                    We know our proper
                place with God. We would
                not give into the deadly
sins because we love God so
much and do not wish separation
with Him due to our sins and
                offenses against God.

We do not give into disordered
                actions, inspirations we think
or feel that would offend God
and hurt our neighbor or the
                community and hurt relationship.

                    The person of holiness recognizes
the evil in themselves and is
                immensely sorry for their sins.
It is a gift of the Holy Spirit to see
how awful sin is and how
it offends God, who is all good
                and hurts others.

We pray to the Holy Spirit to renew
                the face of the earth.

We pray to the Holy Spirit to Come
to us and fill us –

We pray to the Holy Spirit to move
in us so we are as God wants
                us to be.

                    We pray for strength to
                avoid temptations. We want
                intimate unity to God and
                we cling to Him.

                R. The gifts of the Holy Spirit help a person
to obey the will of God – to be
strengthened to do the will of God.

1 Corinthians 12: 3

Because of that, I want to make it quite clear to you that no one who says ‘A curse on Jesus’ can be speaking in the Spirit of God, and nobody is able to say, ‘Jesus is Lord’ except in the Holy Spirit.

                R. We have a free will to cooperate
with God's grace or refuse Him.

The incarnation goes on in us –
We ask Jesus to be so one with us
that we can say as St. Paul –

Galatians 2: 19-20

...I have been crucified with Christ and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me.

                R. We are to love –

                    We are to give –

We are to be as Christ wants
us to be in this world – opening
our hearts to be moved by God –
to see as we see through the
eyes of faith – we see through
                the Father's eyes – God's plan
for us in this world –

God has a plan for us –

God created us to help in the
                work of eternal salvation by
being a witness before men –
by living a holy life, by
being all that God wants us
                to be.

In baptism we receive a sharing
in His life and God dwells in
                the graced, baptized soul –

We are to live – In Him –
                God dwells in the graced
                baptized soul –

                Jesus says
I am alive, I am alive,
                    I am alive –

We know the devil wants to
                    come and he wants to
                    move in souls –
                    he wants to tempt men
to give into the deadly sins –
                    which deaden men's hearts
                    and makes them numb as
                    they can become enslaved
                    to these vices –

We must always ask to be
                    reconciled when we sin –
                    to repair the breach in
                    relationships with God,
                    with others and with the
                    community.

Now see what a dark place
it is to not be reconciled
                    by admitting the wrong we
                    have done and asking for
                    forgiveness –

                    It's like corroded and clogged
                pipes. We recently had some
                plumbing work and the fixtures
                and everything involved was
corroded – the bolts so corroded
                they broke off and wouldn't
                move.

                    Think of vices – 40, 50 years
                of actions being prideful and
                jealous, envious and angry –
                never bending – just thinking
of one's own world and living
in their own self-made prison –
for opposing God's will that we
live in love – that we seek
to be reconciled – that we
                tell the truth about our
                offenses rather than blaming
and projecting our own self –
                made prison on an innocent
                other –

                    That is like old corroded
pipes and fixtures that don't move
                and break off if somebody
                wants to fix them –

Resistance to anyone – anger at
any one telling them anything –
                greater and greater pride and
                darkness, envy, jealousy,
anger – A SELF MADE PRISON

We have a free will – God
                commands we love God and
love one another – God gives
us in baptism a capability to love
                and know supernaturally,
but we must open our hearts –
                be docile, be submissive –
                be surrendering.

                    Some times habits of stirring
the pot are so ingrained in a
person – they just keep wanting
                to start conflict when everyone
                is peaceful and united –

God calls us to love, when
we fail to love and offend God
                and others and the community
                we must ask for forgiveness
                and repair the breach we
                have caused.

Life is so short. Life is
                about making relationships –
                working in relationships –
                saying we are sorry –
                carrying for others, being
                nice, men for others –
                solving conflicts in love –
                telling the truth –
                working in harmony according
to God's will in love –

I looked at all the corrosion when
pipes and things that are needed for
                plumbing are left undone –

Things need care – if they
are important – they need to
                be taken care of –

We are here to have hearts
like Jesus – we need to open
our hearts and not let 50 years
                of corrosion, unforgiveness,
                unresolved conflicts, untruthfulness,
anger – stop the heart that
was meant for love – that
was meant by God the Father
to love Him and give honor
                and glory to God.

In the beginning – God created
us with a purpose to love –
to go out – to be witnesses –
to have tender hearts like Jesus
                and to continue the work
He began in the world –

We are pilgrims on a journey –
Our goal is to go to heaven and
help others to get there –
We are to be reconciled with
God and others and the community
when we are mean and offend
                them –
                repair the breach –
                ask for forgiveness –
not let the sun go down on
                    our anger –

                Not become pros blaming others
                    for our corroded pipes
                    we made ourselves with
                    very unloving and dark
                    selfish thoughts –

God is watching us to see how
                    we love, forgive, work in
                    purity – advance in the
                    spiritual life – having
                    a heart like Jesus –
                    continuing His work here
                    below –

Working with others in love –

                Bending the stubborn heart
                    and will –

                Melting the frozen
                    Warming the chill –

God wants to dwell IN US
God wants to operate IN US

God wants us to carry on the
                    work of loving – like
                    Jesus who showed us
                    how to go out and
                    love our brothers –

                R. We can say yes –

                Mary said at Fatima

                    CONVERSION –

                R. TRUST and TRANSFORM
                    GUIDING LIGHT

                Living in the Light –

                If you never changed the
                    burned out bulbs
pretty soon there is no light –

                Even burned out bulbs need
                    to be changed –

                Corroded bolts break off
                    and don't move –

God wants us to be open
                    and let love flow
                    in our hearts –

God wants us to mend the
                    fence when it is
                    broken – not build
                    wall upon wall in
                    unresolved conflict with those
God has called us to work
                    with because of pride and
                    anger and hatred caused
                    by our own corrosion –

                The person that is transformed
by Jesus can do the work
                    Jesus calls him to –
                    the work Jesus calls us
                    to can glorify our heavenly
                    Father who created us.

We go to the Heart of Mary – she
takes us to the Heart of Jesus and
He takes us to our heavenly
                Father who created us –
                We live more and more
                perfected – IN HIM –
                God the Father created us
                to be lovers –
We are as God the Father
                intended –

                The devil wants people to
                    OPPOSE what God wants.

The devil lies and tells them they
                    need to be INDEPENDENT –
                    they need their place above
                    everybody –
                    that is pride –

LIKE EVE in the Garden –
                    she wanted to be
                    equal to God –

                EVE disobeyed God
                EVE was out of order
                EVE didn't know her place!

                God is love –

                Let us think of this
                    infinite love – we cannot
                    even fathom –

Let us open the doors to
                    the love of God –

Ask God to lead us into
                    loving SUPERNATURALLY

                In baptism our knowing and
                    loving capacity is elevated –
                    We have the capacity to
                    know and love supernaturally
but we must go to God for this –
We must be led by God –
                    We must be open, surrendering,
                    asking God to come –
Not be hard in heart –
                    corroded like old bolts –

God loves us so much – God
                    wants us to continue
in the world – with the
                    heart of Jesus – to
                    continue the work of
                    Jesus of love –

Why would we oppose the plan of
                    the Father for us –
from the beginning of our life

Sing: From the Day you Were Born

Through Him, With Him, In Him

                R. We do all we do for the honor
                    and glory of God –

136. THE FOURTH DAY

        A MEDITATION ON TWO STANDARDS

The one of Christ, our supreme leader and lord,
the other of Lucifer, the deadly enemy of our
human nature

PRAYER.   The usual preparatory prayer.

window at a former Jesuit Seminary

137. FIRST PRELUDE.   This is the history. Here it will be that Christ calls and wants all beneath His standard, and Lucifer, on the other hand, wants all under his.

138. SECOND PRELUDE.   This is a mental representation of the place. It will be here to see a great plain, comprising the whole region about Jerusalem, where the sovereign Commander-in-Chief of all the good is Christ our Lord; and another plain about the region of Babylon, where the chief of the enemy is Lucifer.

139. THIRD PRELUDE.   This is to ask for what I desire. Here it will be to ask for a knowledge of the deceits of the rebel chief and help to guard myself against them; and also to ask for a knowledge of the true life exemplified in the sovereign and true Commander, and the grace to imitate Him.

FIRST PART

THE STANDARD OF SATAN

140. FIRST POINT.   Imagine you see the chief of all the enemy in the vast plain about Babylon, seated on a great throne of fire and smoke, his appearance inspiring horror and terror.

141. SECOND POINT.   Consider how he summons innumerable demons, and scatters them, some to one city and some to another, throughout the whole world, so that no province, no place, no state of life, no individual is overlooked.

142. THIRD POINT.   Consider the address he makes to them, how he goads them on to lay snares for men and bind them with chains. First they are to tempt them to covet riches (as Satan himself is accustomed to do in most cases) that they may the more easily attain the empty honors of this world, and then come to overweening pride.

The first step, then, will be riches, the second honor, the third pride. From these three steps the evil one leads to all other vices.

SECOND PART

THE STANDARD OF CHRIST

143.   In a similar way, we are to picture to ourselves the sovereign and true Commander, Christ our Lord.

144. FIRST POINT.   Consider Christ our Lord, standing in a lowly place in a great plain about the region of Jerusalem, His appearance beautiful and attractive.

145. SECOND POINT.   Consider how the Lord of all the world chooses so many persons, apostles, disciples, etc., and sends them throughout the whole world to spread His sacred doctrine among all men, no matter what their state or condition.

146. THIRD POINT.   . . .

                R. We have the Mass – the sacrifice
                of Calvary, sacramentally made
                present –

                    It is about God –
                        honoring God
                        praising God
                        loving God
                        being God-like –
                        glorifying God  by our
                        Christ-like actions.

Our hearts are to rest in God –
in love – living in peace
                    and harmony –

Asking to be reconciled to our
                    brothers –
                    making reparation for our
                        sins –
                    with a firm purpose of
                        amendment not sinning
                        again –

                Jesus calls us to meekness
                    of heart –

                Not combatal –

Jesus' Heart is tender and meek
                    and loving

Jesus gives us Himself in the
                    Eucharist so we can
be so one with Him –
                    so we can love as
                    Jesus loves in us –

                Eucharist means thanksgiving –
                    Giving thanks to God and
                        carrying this love out
                        to others for receiving
                        Him –

                Christ lives in us –

We are to be CHRIST-LIKE –

                They know we are Christians
                    by our love –

We live in the light –

We are Christ to one another –

We are formed more and more
in the image of Jesus –

We want to be formed more
                    and more in the image
of Jesus by the Holy Spirit.

God gives us a sharing in His life
                    in baptism.

                We put on Christ –

                We live the Christ-life –
                We live in love –

Love is the habit in us!!

Our hearts were made for love!

Jesus has given us His Blue Books.

August 30, 2016 continues

R. Why do souls go to hell –
    They refuse to love –
    They refuse God's love –

God gives us love and we can
    reject Him.

We can betray and be disloyal
    to God –

Our life will be sealed –

Self-imposed unforgiveness

We are free to love or not love –

To be forced to love anyone is hell –

We need to do it freely –

Sun shines on a rock – nothing happens

Sun shines on wax – it becomes soft

We reject God and His mercy –

We cannot be happy without
    God and love –

There is pain with sin –

Alcohol – slavery
            – acceptance
            – hangover

Punishment and torment

Internal Corruption

We have a conscience

God gives us love and we can
    reject it –

Locked in a dark closet

Do we listen to God's warning?
Do we listen to Mary's warnings?

The more a person just
    gives into darkness –
    they can close in
    and not see around
    them –

Not see out –

Not see through God's
    eyes –

Basically spiritually blind –

God commands us to love.

We have a lifetime to learn
to love and be like Jesus
    and to give.

Jesus gave and gave – to His
    death on the cross, He
    gave in love.

He teaches us - love is giving –

We have a lifetime to learn
to love and to give and
    to be like Jesus.

This is why God created us –
in His image and likeness –

Heaven is a reward promised
    to those who loved and
    served God and did His
    will.

A person can live their whole
    life rebelling against loving.

The devil is hate.

The devil will go to hell for all
    eternity –

The devil wants people to hate.

We have a free will to spend
    our life loving and being
    like Jesus or hating and
    hurting people and lying
    that it was wrong.

We have so many days to
learn to love – to have
    hope of eternal life –

Judas betrayed Jesus with
    a kiss –

Jesus loved Judas and chose
    him as an apostle
    and Judas betrayed
    Jesus and went around
    behind His back.

Judas despaired.

God created us to love –
to give – to put on Christ.

St. Thomas says that man
    has a free will –
    when he sins he gives
into his free will and sins
    against God –

Who stops a person that answers
    to no one –

Who puts themselves above any
    authority –
    who is not accountable
    and responsible for their
    actions –
who lives in lies and secrets –

Who can reach any person of
    such pride that refuses
    living in the truth –
    they have hurt others –
    like a rolling dervish –
    they went day after day
    hurting people and told
    themselves they were right –

The first words out of their
    mouth when they hurt
    others and lacked responsibility
is "I am right and you are
wrong – I can hurt and
    do what I please and
I will use some force to
    make you accept my
    behavior."

Our Lady appeared at Fatima
    and warned and called us
    to conversion.

Eve in pride disobeyed God and
    did what she wanted.

Jesus came and suffered and
    died for our sins –
telling us we are to make
    reparation for our sins –
    repair the breach for
    offending God and others
    and ask for forgiveness –

This is the scriptures –
    the Word of God –
    to love –
    faith, hope and love and
the greatest of these is love –

God commands us to love –
God created us for love –
Heaven is for lovers –

Why would a man live in
    sin and keep living in
    the darkness he has
    made –
    hurting people, punishing
    people with his lies and
    sin – hating others.

Where is he going?

The devil tries to isolate people so
they get harder and harder –

In the scripture it says a
    man who sweeps his
    house clean – has 7
    devils that return –

Yes the devil comes and a person
    can have endless energy to
    be prideful and angry
    and hurt others –

That negative energy comes
    from satan who keeps
at the person to sin and
    hate –

Hell is complete absence
    of love –

A person chooses hate
    and anger and listening
    to the devil.

The devil is real –

The devil comes to tear apart –
    to destroy –

At Fatima – Mary told us we
    must convert –

Her message was ignored –

It was hatred from Hitler
    that sent so many people
    to a bitter death –
    Did they deserve the punishment
        Hitler forced on them –

    66,000,000 people were
killed in World War II and
    Mary appeared at Fatima
    and warned.

What stops a man who lives
    to hate and raises himself
    to the authority to be
able to get away with it
    and make victims of
    those he projects his
    hate and anger on –

Fr. Joe talked about pride
    on Sunday and I had
    read what St. Thomas
    wrote.

Fr. Joe talked about narcissistic pride
    as the pride where a
    person is extremely
    concerned with himself –

Jesus gives us the golden rule
    to do unto others what
    we would have them
    do to us –

Narcissistic – extremely concerned
    with himself, but has
    no concern for others –

How could we ever have peace
    if everybody was only
    looking out for themselves –

This pride like this is a sin –

We are to love our neighbors as
    our self

Balance –
concern for self and others –

Luke 14: 1, 7-14

Now it happened that on a Sabbath day he had gone to share a meal in the house of one of the leading Pharisees; and they watched him closely.

He then told the guests a parable, because he had noticed how they picked the places of honour. He said this, 'When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take your seat in the place of honour. A more distinguished person than you may have been invited, and the person who invited you both may come and say, "Give up your place to this man." And then, to your embarrassment, you will have to go and take the lowest place. No; when you are a guest, make your way to the lowest place and sit there, so that, when your host comes, he may say, "My friend, move up higher." Then, everyone with you at the table will see you honoured. For everyone who raises himself up will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be raised up.'

Then he said to his host, 'When you give a lunch or a dinner, do not invite your friends or your brothers or your relations or rich neighbours, in case they invite you back and so repay you. No; when you have a party, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind; then you will be blessed, for they have no means to repay you and so you will be repaid when the upright rise again.'

R. Jesus made a suggestion to
    take the lesser position –

Jesus was teaching us about
    kindness –
Just giving to be kind –
    not just doing everything
    to please oneself –

There is a healthy pride when
    we are caring for our
    spiritual life –
    thanking God for helping
us with a job well done –

Fr. Joe says
    Narcissistic pride tries to
    push a person to be
    greater than they could ever
    be –

Narcissistic pride pushes
    everybody else out of
    our life –

It is not good –

Perfectionism is this kind of pride –

Satan wanted Jesus to bow
    to him –

Where we could learn to be
    like Jesus and love and
    be kind –
    the devil keeps leading
    a person into darkness
    and deeper darkness –

A person can have all this
    negative energy to fight,
    create chaos, play games –
    force their hateful behavior
    on others –
    then are not accountable
    or responsible for hurting
others – over years and makes
    excuses why they are right
    and should be excused
    for anything they did wrong.

We are accountable to God for
    our actions –
    we are responsible to God
        for our positions in our
        vocation to serve God
        and others justly –

The more a person gives into
satan – the more he can
    work through them – when
they use their free will to serve
    satan and not God –

This leads to darkness, more
    lies, more manipulation,
    less accountability and
    failure to hold oneself
    responsible for their
    actions, their office –
    they excuse their actions
    and make excuses for
    them –

It may lead to this –
    anything goes – they can
    get away with –

Empathy is understanding
    and being sensitive to
    other people's feelings –

A person engulfed in
    pride is extremely
    concerned only with
    themselves and does not
    hold themselves accountable
    for the army they wounded
    with their actions to hurt
    others.

The Gospel was really telling
us to do a kind deed, just
    to be kind –

Jesus will separate the sheep
    from the goats –

We can't fool God –

We are here to obey God –
    to serve God –
    to love God –
    to be like Jesus –

It is just to give to the
    world – a better world
    from our life – when
    we leave –

We are commissioned in baptism
    to go out and spread
    the Good News –

If a person fights their whole
    life to lead themselves
    to the top and force
    others to obey their
    unjust hatred, abuse
    and control -
    how will they feel inside?

God commands us to love –

God commands us to do
    unto others what we would
have them to do unto us –

A person that tricks another
    to watch them squirm is
    a person seeped in darkness
when they enjoy this lewd behavior.

How deep is the darkness
    satan can lead a self-
    centered - selfish person –

Jesus says
    when I was hungry –
    you fed Me –
    when I was thirsty you
        gave Me drink.

R. What we do to others we are
    doing to Jesus –
    Love your neighbor as
        yourself - Jesus says.

When we go to be judged
    if we ignored Jesus
    and His commandments
    He may say to us
    "Go away from Me –
        I don't know you."

A person can give into satan
    because of pride and
    disobedience and they
    allow satan to operate
    in them –
    Satan can bring a legion
    of devils to press on
a situation to try to get
    control and the evil person
    wants good men to surrender
to their evil while they force
    their way on them through
    laws they can implement that
    are unjust and against God's
    will.

Who is our God?

Do we live so our actions are
    actions accountable to
    God for our eternal salvation?

How dark does it become when we
live to do our own will
    opposed to God's will –

When we can't give love
    anymore or can't give
    well deserved gratitude
    because we are wrapped
    in the negative energy
    supplied by satan to sin
    and hate and punish
    and control.

You would think a person would
    have right reasoning to
    say
"How do I have all this energy
to punish and hate and hurt
and lie, but have not a
        crumb of energy to say
thanks, to see the light of day,
        the beauty in a person's face –
loving and created by God" –

How dark is dark when a person
    keeps giving into hatred
    and sin and using others
to control and have power –

What of the interior life?

What is the softness of the heart?

How severe is it to argue for every
good thing under God "it can't
    be done" "Impossible to
do what God is asking for"
    they may say –

Isn't that what Eve said
    in the Garden, while the
    devil lied to her and
    she gave in –

Mary did the Father's will –

Priestly Newsletter Book II - September/October 1997

Scriptural Reflections

In all this Mary offers an example. Selfishness was totally foreign to her. She did not belong to herself. She belonged to God. She was not closed in upon herself. She was completely open to God. When God spoke, she listened. When God pointed the way, she followed. She realized that life is not a process a person masters by carefully mapping out one's own self-conceived plans of conquest, but a mystery to be gradually experienced by being open to God's personal and loving guidance.

Selfishness, then, did not close Mary off from God's call. Neither did fear. God asked her to assume a tremendous responsibility. He asked her to be the Mother of Jesus. Mary did not engage in a process of false humility and say that such a great role was above her. She did not say that she did not have the proper qualifications for this awesome mission. Briefly, she did not waste time looking at herself, making pleas that she was not worthy, telling the angel he had better go look for someone else. No, Mary did not look at herself. Her gaze was absorbed in God. She fully realized that whatever God asked of her, His grace would accomplish. She fully realized that although she herself had to cooperate, this work was much more God's than hers.

Mary's words, then, truly sum up what is the authentic Christian response at any point of life, in any kind of situation: "I am the handmaid of the Lord," said Mary, "let what you have said be done to me".

The Father's Will for Us - Our Source of Peace

  • Pope John Paul II instructs us: "The Church, as a reconciled and reconciling community, cannot forget that at the source of her gift and mission of reconciliation is the initiative, full of compassionate love and mercy, of that God who is love (see 1 John 4:8) and who out of love created human beings (see Wisdom 11:23-26; Genesis 1:27: Psalms 8:4-8)…He created them so that they might live in friendship with Him and in communion with one another.

"God is faithful to His eternal plan even when man, under the impulse of the evil one (see Wisdom 2:24) and carried away by his own pride, abuses the freedom given to him in order to love and generously seek what is good, and (instead) refuses to obey his Lord and Father. God is faithful even when man, instead of responding with love to God’s love, opposes Him and treats Him like a rival, deluding himself and relying on his own power, with the resulting break of relationship with the One who created him. In spite of this transgression on man’s part, God remains faithful in love.

"It is certainly true that the story of the Garden of Eden makes us think about the tragic consequences of rejecting the Father, which becomes evident in man’s inner disorder and in the breakdown of harmony between man and woman, brother and brother (see Genesis 3:12 ff; 4:1-16). Also significant is the Gospel parable of the two brothers (the parable of the ‘prodigal son’; see Luke 15:11-32) who, in different ways, distance themselves from their father and cause a rift between them. Refusal of God’s fatherly love and of His loving gifts is always at the root of humanity’s divisions.

"But we know that God…like the father in the parable (of the prodigal son), does not close His heart to any of His children. He waits for them, looks for them, goes to meet them at the place where the refusal of communion imprisons them in isolation and division. He calls them to gather about His table in the joy of the feast of forgiveness and reconciliation.

"This initiative on God’s part is made concrete and manifest in the redemptive act of Christ, which radiates through the world by means of the ministry of the Church." 13

Guiding Light - Reflect on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year (2011/2012)
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B     The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A    The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B    At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C    In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts
Inspiring Homilies by Fr. Joe Robinson

Audio CD - Read by Father Edward J. Carter
$ 10.00

Priestly Newsletter — 2000 #1 — CD.Christ is Our Strength — Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our—selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
