                September 29, 2015

                R. Prayer is so important in our lives.
One thing this Movement has been taught
by Jesus is the importance of Prayer.
Mary appearing on September 5th said a lot
in the two messages she stressed –
"The Hearts of Jesus and Mary are attentive to
                the voice of our supplication"

                "Focus on Jesus"

We think all through the day and
have patterns of how we think.
Satan can work to bring us down
negatively all day – if we are
                in this habit.

I saw Mary the whole time we
prayed the Rosary September 5th and she
prayed with us. I saw her praying
with us. In this troubled world,
                Mary showed herself praying like
this with these two dominant messages.
When we focus on Jesus, our whole day
is a prayer, isn't it? When I did
the Sidney Rosary last Tuesday I
understood for 24 yours how Jesus'
message was so consistent – to
live IN HIM – to live IN
His Heart, to dwell in Him –

I saw on last Tuesday how
all the songs - Jesus gave me –
are really prayers – How the
                communication Jesus had given
was teaching us to be in a constant
                communication and prayer attitude
with Him, as He desires this oneness
with Him in all we do.

I thought years ago Mary and Jesus made
it clear – these Blue Book Rosaries
were given when times got tough
so people could keep focused on Jesus and
their lives are a constant prayer –
keeping our thoughts positive – We
have 24 hours a day to be thinking
or dreaming – we want our
minds to be lifted up to God
                in whatever we do –

Mary and Jesus have given us
                ways to keep our communication
with Them all day – as we live
                In Jesus' Heart. This dwelling
in His Heart will help us to
                be people like Jesus –
to be people of love –
to be in unity with Jesus all day –
to use the rosary meditations from
the Hearts of Jesus and Mary to help us
that day to stay focused on the
Hearts of Jesus and Mary and to
be schooled by Them as we pray.

But we must spread the Blue Books –
This is how Jesus and Mary have taught
us for 21 years since the Rosary Aves
how to stay focused on Their Hearts –
Apps should be on phones for the Sacred Heart
short Rosaries, the Rosary Aves are not even
being sent to schools, the Consecration
to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary for schools and
people – elderly and priest must be our focus –

Consecration is where it is at –
We give ourselves to God – we are one
with God - we are not willful and
disobedient – we are focused on
Jesus – The Spirit of God leads our
life – as we are leaders – leading
people to God in these troubled times –
because Mary and Jesus are giving us these
                messages, NOW, to do so.

She just appeared 3 weeks ago in Clearwater
I knew her presence with us –
                She prayed with us –
She is praying with us, walking with
us, standing at the altar during
Mass – She is our Spiritual Mother –
We are to be led by the Holy Spirit to the
table of such grace in union
with God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit –
praying for the Church and the world –

Christ is the head – we are
the body of Christ as members of the
                Church through baptism and
the Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church –

We are engaged – all day – being
one in God – God is the Master –
We are yielding and under God –
Selfless – we are to operate as
                He dwells in us

Words of Jesus to Members of
Shepherds of Christ Associates:

"My beloved priest-companion, I intend to use the priestly newsletter, Shepherds of Christ, and the movement, Shepherds of Christ Associates, in a powerful way for the renewal of My Church and the world.

"I will use the newsletter and the chapters of Shepherds of Christ Associates as a powerful instrument for spreading devotion to My Heart and My Mother's Heart.

"I am calling many to become members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. To all of them I will give great blessings. I will use them as instruments to help bring about the triumph of the Immaculate Heart and the reign of My Sacred Heart. I will give great graces to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates. I will call them to be deeply united to My Heart and to Mary's Heart as I lead them ever closer to My Father in the Holy Spirit."

- Message from Jesus to Father Edward J. Carter, S.J., Founder, as given on July 31, 1994,
feast of Saint Ignatius Loyola, Founder of the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits)

Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus

My dear fellow Associate Members,

Jesus is calling special apostles to join a new division of the Shepherds of Christ Movement. Here is a message from Jesus given to Father Carter:

My beloved priest-companion, I am requesting that a new prayer movement be started under the direction of Shepherds of Christ Ministries. I am asking for volunteers who are willing to pray before the Blessed Sacrament for one hour, twice-weekly. Members of the Shepherds of Christ prayer chapters, as well as others, are to be invited to join this movement.

These apostles are to pray for the intentions I am giving you. For part of the hour they are to use the prayers of the Shepherds of Christ Associates Handbook. They may spend the rest of the hour as they so choose.

I will use this new prayer movement within My Shepherds of Christ Ministries in a powerful way to help in the renewal of My Church and the world. I will give great graces to those who join this movement. The name, Apostles of the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, is to be given to this movement.

I am inviting My beloved Rita Ring to be coordinator for this activity.

I pour out the great love of My Sacred Heart to all. I am Jesus, Chief Shepherd of the flock.

This is indeed a special calling for us to unite in one heart with His Eucharistic Heart and pray for the following intentions:

    1. For the spread of the devotion to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary culminating in the reign of the Sacred Heart and the triumph of the Immaculate Heart.
    2. For the Pope.
    3. For all bishops of the world.
    4. For all priests.
    5. For all sisters and brothers in the religious life.
    6. For all members of the Shepherds of Christ Movement, and for the spread of this movement to the world.
    7. For all members of the Catholic Church.
    8. For all members of the human family.
    9. For all souls in purgatory.

A message for the Earth from Jesus

January 22, 1998

I am the Good Shepherd, these are My prayers, the prayers I give to help renew the Church and the world, all prayer chapters are asked to include these prayers (found in the Shepherds of Christ Prayer Manual). As My Apostles and Shepherds I ask you to encourage all existing Chapters to try to encourage all existing prayer groups to pray the Shepherds of Christ prayers. Encourage all Churches to pray these prayers. It is most urgent that the people of this earth concur with the Father's wishes to begin Prayer Chapters. This is an urgent request from the Good Shepherd. The flock will become one when they have given their hearts to Jesus and Mary. Encourage all priests to pray the Shepherds of Christ prayers. Your world will be lighted with great light as the people of this earth pray these prayers.

My promise is this to you My beloved earth: When you give your heart to Me and spread the devotion to My Sacred Heart, I will write your name In My Heart. I promise to give the greatest graces when you pray these prayers for renewal of the Church and the world and take all who pray them deeply into My Heart. The prayers I give will bring about the reign of My Sacred Heart and the triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart. I am Jesus Christ, this is My message of January 22, 1998, Please circulate this message to your world. I am the Good Shepherd, I know Mine and Mine know Me and they follow Me. Grace My Shepherds, I will give you the greatest graces for spreading these words to this earth and to your Church. I love you, I am Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, it is the Plan of the Father that Prayer Chapters are begun immediately and the Priestly Newsletter is given to all priests. The Voice of the Good Shepherd speaks through it.

                R. We must let the Holy Spirit possess our
soul – be willing to ask the Holy Spirit to
remove in us all that is opposed
to God's will – old bad habits,
                pride, anger, jealousy, envy,
                undisciplined addictive,
                compulsive behaviors, unloving
                ways and selfishness.

We ask the Holy Spirit to raise us to
                follow God's Divine design in
all we do, follow the Father's
will and let go of control,
                manipulation, inordinate tendencies
that drive us apart from God
                and cause division in our
hearts toward our brothers and sisters
                in the Father's family.

To be transformed more and more
into the image of God – our lives
to be lived to bring this image
of Christ to all we touch –
                to help transform the Church
and the world in the Christic image.

We meditate on the hidden mysteries,
we meditate on the absolute truth
as the Holy Spirit gives us lights into the
                Divine Mysteries and instructs
us in the truth, teaches us
                Divine truths.

We are called to consecrate our
hearts to the Heart of Jesus and the Heart of Mary –
this means we give ourselves, our
                lives to Them.

                    Consecration is more than
                a prayer – it is a commitment
to Jesus to live as the Spouse of Jesus –
We give ourselves to God –
We consecrate our lives to the Holy Spirit –
We consecrate our lives to the Heavenly Father.

It is not mere words – it is giving
                    of oneself as an offering
                    fully to God –

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.F

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

                R. We give ourselves to God, as
He wills forever – We are His
witnesses, we are His instruments –
Christ is one in us and operates in
                this world.

                    Every Christian is a temple
of the Holy Spirit – God the Father, Son and
Holy Spirit dwell in the graced, baptized soul.

God gives us a sharing in His
                life in baptism.

                    Life in the Spirit –

                    The Christ-life –

John 16: 7-15

Still, I am telling you the truth:
it is for your own good that I am going,
because unless I go,
the Paraclete will not come to you;
but if I go,
I will send him to you.
And when he comes,
he will show the world how wrong it was,
about sin,
and about who was in the right,
and about judgement:
about sin:
in that they refuse to believe in me;
about who was in the right:
in that I am going to the Father
and you will see me no more;
about judgement:
in that the prince of this world
    is already condemned.
I still have many things to say to you
but they would be too much for you
    to bear now.

However, when the Spirit of truth comes
he will lead you to the complete truth,
since he will not be speaking
    of his own accord,
but will say only what he has been told;
and he will reveal to you
    the things to come.
He will glorify me,
since all he reveals to you
will be taken from what is mine.
Everything the Father has is mine;
that is why I said:
all he reveals to you
will be taken from what is mine.

                R. We want the light of God to shine
in us – we must cast out darkness –
                far from us –

We seek intimacy with God –
oneness with God – the fool
                keeps moving further and further
from God – embracing the worldly
seeking to be far from God, does not
                bring holiness –

                    We must throw out idols,
pride, selfish - self promotion –
                foolish pride, anger, jealousy
                and envy –
To be ever nearer to God –
To be possessed by the Holy Spirit

Matthew 5: 48

...You must therefore be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect.’

                R. We must totally give ourselves
                    to the Holy Spirit –

God has the flame of infinite
love – to come deeply in
                    our hearts –

We are grateful to God, we love
God deeply in our hearts –

We must be open to love – to
seek more and more the increase
in the virtues of faith, hope and love
and to ask the Holy Spirit to possess
our soul and outpour His gifts.

                    We seek possession of the
Spirit of God in our soul!
                We submit to the inspirations
                of the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit, almighty Sanctifier, God of love, who filled the Virgin Mary with grace, who wonderfully changed the hearts of the apostles, who endowed all Your martyrs with miraculous courage, come and sanctify us. Enlighten our minds, strengthen our wills, purify our consciences, rectify our judgment, set our hearts on fire, and preserve us from the misfortunes of resisting Your inspirations. Amen.

                R. The Holy Spirit is with us 24/7 if
we surrender our lives to His touch,
                to moving in us –

                    We have harmony in our
soul – for we seek God's plan,
                love it and generously give
                ourselves to this Plan.

                    We must be lovers. Heaven
is a place for true lovers
of God and others – Love, Love, Love.

Song: Your Presence Pervades My Soul

                Song: Glory, Glory, Glory Lord

                R. Where is our love? Is it on
Jesus – whatever we love –
we will give ourselves to –

“Nothing is more practical than finding God, that is, than falling in a love in a quite absolute, final way. What you are in love with, what seizes your imagination will affect everything. It will decide what will get you out of bed in the mornings, what you will do with your evenings, how you spend your weekends, what you read, who you know, what breaks your heart, and what amazes you with joy and gratitude. Fall in love, stay in love, and it will decide everything.”
                                                                                                                                                       Pedro Arrupe

                R. Love brings unity –
The Holy Spirit brings unity to home,
                    Church, school – to
                    the world!

From Tell My People by Fr. Edward J. Carter, S.J.

The Holy Spirit

Jesus: "My beloved friend, tell My people to pray daily to the Holy Spirit. They are to pray for an increase in His gifts. My people must realize that the Holy Spirit comes to transform them. The Spirit desires to transform you more and more according to My image. Those who are docile to His touch become increasingly shaped in My likeness. He performs this marvel within Mary's Immaculate Heart. The more one dwells in My Mother's Heart, the more active are the workings of the Spirit. The Spirit leads Mary to place you within My own Heart. In both Our Hearts, then, your transformation continues. The more you are formed after My own Heart, the more I lead you to the bosom of My Father. Tell My people all this. Tell them to pray daily for a greater appreciation of these wondrous gifts. I am Lord and Master. All who come to My Heart will be on fire to receive the gifts of the Spirit in ever greater measure! I love and bless My people!"

Reflection: The Holy Spirit is given to us to fashion us ever more according to the likeness of Jesus. And the more we are like Jesus, the more Jesus leads us to the Father. Do we, each day, pray to the Holy Spirit to be more open to His transforming influence? Do we strive each day to grow in union with Mary? The greater our union with our Mother, the spouse of the Holy Spirit, the greater is the transforming action of the Holy Spirit within us.

We are challenged to participate in the sufferings of God in the hands of a godless world, without attempting to gloss over the ungodliness with a veneer of religion or trying to transfigure it. It is not a religious act which makes a Christian what he is, but participation in the suffering of God in the life of the world.

In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later
        you will see me again.

Then some of his disciples said to one another, ‘What does he mean, "In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you will see me again," and, "I am going to the Father"? What is this "short time"? We don’t know what he means.’ Jesus knew that they wanted to question him, so he said, ‘You are asking one another what I meant by saying, "In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you will see me again."

'In all truth I tell you,
you will be weeping and wailing
while the world will rejoice;
you will be sorrowful,
but your sorrow will turn to joy.

A woman in childbirth suffers,
because her time has come;
but when she has given birth to the child
    she forgets the suffering
in her joy that a human being
has been born into the world.
So it is with you: you are sad now,
but I shall see you again,
and your hearts will be full of joy,
and that joy no one shall take from you.

When that day comes,
you will not ask me any questions.
In all truth I tell you,
anything you ask from the Father
he will grant in my name.
Until now you have not asked
    anything in my name.
 Ask and you will receive,
and so your joy will be complete.
I have been telling you these things
    in veiled language.
The hour is coming
when I shall no longer speak to you
    in veiled language
but tell you about the Father
    in plain words.
When that day comes
you will ask in my name;
and I do not say
that I shall pray to the Father for you,
because the Father himself loves you
for loving me,
and believing that I came from God.
I came from the Father
and have come into the world
and now I am leaving the world
    to go to the Father.'

Acts 2: 2-4

when suddenly there came from heaven a sound as of a violent wind which filled the entire house in which they were sitting; and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves.

Vigil of Pentecost

May 22, 2010

INTRODUCTION – ...Our first reading today is one of my favorites. At the time of Ezekiel (600 BC), God’s people did not have any idea of individual or personal resurrection. Ezekiel, in his vision of a field of dry bones, is referring to the nation of Israel that was at that time in Exile in Babylon. They had given up hope of ever returning home or of ever being a nation again. They thought their race and nation were dead. Ezekiel is telling them God would bring them back from exile and raise them up. I should also add, no one knew about the Trinity at that time in history. When Ezekiel refers to God’s Spirit in today’s first reading, he is referring to God’s power to bring about life.

HOMILY – Today’s gospel describes the Spirit as a river of living water. When John tells us, “there was no Spirit yet, because Jesus had not yet been glorified,” he is not saying the Holy Spirit did not exist. He is saying the Holy Spirit had not yet been imparted to Jesus’ followers. They had to wait until Jesus ascended to the Father and sent the Holy Spirit upon them.

St. Cyril of Jerusalem, who lived in the fourth century, asked this question in his commentary on today’s gospel: “Why did Christ call the grace of the Spirit water?” He answers the question this way: “Because all things are dependent on water; plants and animals have their origin in water.” In other words: water brings life. It’s that simple. Without water life cannot exist. When we recite the Creed, we profess that the Holy Spirit is the Lord and giver of life.

The Holy Spirit is our connection with Christ. It is through the Spirit that we share in Christ’s life. This is one of the basic gifts the Spirit gives us, a sharing in Christ’s life. As with any life, our life in Christ is meant to be an active life. When a person is alive but they are inactive, it is either that they spend too much time in front of the TV or they are comatose. When the Spirit makes us alive in Christ, the Spirit also gives us gifts that help this life in Christ to flourish. According to St. Paul, such gifts are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility and self-control. (Galatians 5:22 & 23) The Spirit also gives us gifts to help us live that life in service of others – many of which are named in the letters of St. Paul. Another way the Spirit helps us is mentioned in tomorrow’s gospel. Jesus told us the Spirit will teach us and remind us of all that Jesus taught us.

The Spirit helps us individually, but the Spirit also helps us in and through the Church. Before Jesus died he established a community of believers and gave that community teachers and leaders. It was on this community, which is the Church, that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit. (This is why Pentecost is considered the birthday of the Church.) The Spirit touches our lives through this community, through its beliefs, its values, its sacraments, its teachings and through our love for one another as members of the same body of Christ of which we are a part as St. Paul will tell us tomorrow.

Sometimes people drop away from their religion. They claim to be spiritual people, but they have little use for organized religion. We should not be surprised that people who are an active part of a religious organization are not perfect. Christ did call sinners to follow him. Those who abandon organized religion and claim to be “spiritual” may have forgotten that if they are living by God’s Holy Spirit, the Spirit would be calling them to be one with other believers so they can share in the many ways the Spirit works through the Church. It was a major part of Christ’s prayer at the Last Supper that his followers be one as he and the Father are one, and surely the Spirit would be prompting Jesus’ followers to follow Christ’s wishes. Sometimes I wonder when someone tells me they are spiritual, but they snub organized religion, whether it is the Holy Spirit whose lead they are following or the spirit of our times that is relatively careless about our responsibilities toward God.

In today’s second reading Paul tells us how the Spirit helps us as we pray. One of the special ways the Spirit helps us in prayer is in the Eucharist. And so we continue on, asking the Holy Spirit to help us offer ourselves and our love to our heavenly Father.

                R. Christ is the head of the Mystical Body

The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church –
we are the body of Christ.

The Holy Spirit is the Eternal Spirit –

                The Holy Spirit Unifies!

The Holy Spirit is the soul of the Church!

Excerpt from Response in Christ by Fr. Edward J. Carter, S. J. - Chapter 8

In conclusion, let us be convinced of the following. What faith in Christ means for ourselves and others must engrave itself deeply within our souls. For only then will we have a desire to open ourselves up fully to this life of faith in Christ, and only then will we become the desired instruments in communicating this faith to others. Each of us in his own way must be caught up into the vision, the fire, the enthusiasm of St. Paul: ". . . I believe nothing can happen that will outweigh the supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For him I have accepted the loss of everything, and I look on everything as so much rubbish if only I can have Christ and be given a place in him . . . I want only the perfection that comes through faith in Christ, and is from God and based on faith." (Ph 3:8-9).

Homily: (excerpt) ...Being willing to give up everything for Christ, even our own lives (and many people did), is a hard message. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran minister who spent the last two years of his life in prison for resisting Hitler, wrote a lot about “cheap grace,” grace that didn’t cost us much. Cheap grace means hoping to gain eternal happiness while asking ourselves, “What is the least I can get by with.” One of Bonhoeffer’s most memorable lines is “When Christ calls a person, he bids him come and die.” Following Christ can cost us dearly. If we’re afraid of that, if we’re always looking for a Church that doesn’t really challenge us, then we are not wanting to hear Christ.

                R. Dietrich Bonhoeffer February 4, 1906 -
                                                April 9, 1945

                was a German, Lutheran pastor.
                He was also a theologian.
                He resisted the Nazi dictatorship.
He was against the persecution of the Jews.
He was arrested April 1943 and
was imprisoned for 1 1/2 years.
Then he went to a Nazi
                        concentration camp.
He was associated with the plot
                    to assassinate Hitler.

                He was executed by hanging
                    April 9, 1945 as the Nazi's
                    collapsed –
                    3 weeks before Hitler's suicide.

He was striped of his clothes –
and went to the execution yard naked.

                Bonhoeffer prayed fervently –
                    even at the execution –

From the Priestly Newsletter Book 3 - Issue 3

Henri de Lubac states: "The Church is a mysterious extension in time of the Trinity, not only preparing us for the life of unity but bringing about even now our participation in it. She comes from and is full of the Trinity. She is for us -- in a favourite phrase of Bossuet -- ‘Jesus Christ … communicated’. She is ‘the Incarnation continued.’ She is, as Dietrick Bonhoeffer used to say, ‘the presence of Christ on earth’ --- she speaks with ‘the authority of Christ living and present in her.’… St. Paul applies to her this same word ‘mystery’ which he had first used of Christ. She is after all, the spouse of Christ and his body." 19
