Excerpt from Response in Christ by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

e) Relationship with Members of the Church

There is but one true Church of Christ. Yet this one Church has three different states of existence. There is the pilgrim Church, the Church of this world, composed of members who have received the grace of Christ and strive for its development. They have not yet obtained the goal of their efforts, as have the members of the heavenly Church, who enjoy God in eternal happiness. The Church suffering is an intermediate state of existence necessary for those who had not achieved the required purification as members of the pilgrim Church. Although there are these three phases of the Church’s existence, there is a profound union existing between all the members. All these members possess the same basic life of grace in Christ, and this common life establishes the most intimate bonds of love. In our preceding chapter, we discussed the pilgrim Church. Let us now consider the Church suffering and the heavenly Church.

The members of the Church suffering are those who have departed from this life in an incomplete state of Christian development. Their development is incomplete in the sense that grace has not fully taken possession of them, and, as a result, they are yet closed in upon themselves to a greater or lesser degree. They as yet cannot open themselves out in complete love to the Triune God in the beatific vision. They must undergo a further purification, a purification which could have been achieved upon earth with merit. Now the purification must be achieved with no merit attached. The pain of this purification is mixed with the certain expectation of achieving the vision of God. We can hasten the advent of this vision for this people by the offering of prayers and other good works. Scripture itself refers to our action on behalf of those in purgatory in Chapter 12 of the Second Book of Maccabees beginning with verse 38.

The members of the heavenly Church are those in whom the life of grace has taken full possession and has reached its completion in the life of glory. Faith now is unnecessary, as the light of glory gives the human intellect a new strength and capacity for seeing God face-to-face. While the Christian was a wayfarer, he received the imprint of the indwelling Trinity as he shared in God’s own life. Now in heaven that grace-life and possession of God reaches its completion—the absolute completion is not achieved, however, until the resurrection of the body. The divine persons give Themselves to the beatified in a profound union far surpassing that of the indwelling of the Trinity experienced here below.

This life of heaven is still the Christ-life, for just as we possess a share in Trinitarian life here below as mediated by Christ, and exercise this grace-life as structured by Him, so also in heaven is the mediation of Christ present. In the words of Rahner, "One always sees the Father through Jesus. Just as immediately as this, for the directness of the vision of God is not a denial of the mediatorship of Christ as man."14 And not only does the humanity of Christ unite the blessed to God, but also, in some way, to the whole of creation. This is merely a completion of what is begun here below, namely, the union with Christ in His humanity establishing the Christian in a special relationship with God, with other men, and with the whole of creation. We have a glimpse, therefore, of the fullness of life which members of the heavenly Church possess.

The heavenly Church, as St. Thomas says, is the true Church.15 The Church of this earth and the Church of purgatory are, each in its own way, reaching out in loving hope for the heavenly Jerusalem. Vatican II puts it very simply: "The Church, to which we are called in Christ Jesus, and in which we acquire sanctity through the grace of God, will attain her full perfection only in the glory of heaven."16

The members of the heavenly Church can help us in living our life of grace until we too share its fullness with them. Their power of intercession on our behalf is but another ramification of the communal aspect of Christianity. We are meant to help others grow in Christ. We, in turn, are intended by God to receive aid from others—yes, from members of the heavenly Church, as well as from those with whom we dwell here below.

Not only can we be aided by the saints’ intercession, but the example of the canonized saints can also be of great value to us. They have concretely proved that full holiness is possible. Such an inspiration is of real worth when we are tempted to think that Christian sanctity in its higher degrees is impossible of attainment. Moreover, the canonized saints, in their diversity, teach us that there are many authentic versions of Christian holiness. They can be innovators in showing us that there are numerous possibilities in assimilating the mystery of Christ, although the basic assimilation remains the same for all Christians of all times. In the opinion of Rahner this is one of the chief roles the canonized saints exert in the life of the Church.17

                For All Saints Day

                R. Today we commemorate all saints —

We see the heroism of these men and women
                    who followed Christ —
                    who were martyred
                    some stoned like St. Stephen
                    Some lost their heads —
                    St. Lawrence grilled —

It is in following in the footprints of Jesus
                    these martyrs, saints shed their
blood to help strengthen the Church with
its great love for men of the earth —

Father we thank You for these holy men and
women who made such a contribution
to salvation history when on earth —
We love these men, who were filled
with zeal, who served You and others
                    self-lessly —
                   even some to martyrdom —

Oh powerful God help us to see how generous
You are to us to want us with You
                    forever in heaven —
How good God is to us, How good
Jesus, who shed His Blood —

All saints day and All souls day follows
                    All saints day —

My mom died, my dad died, my sister
died, my step-mom died — my
grandmas and grandpas — my uncle
Andrew and his wife who helped me
to publish the Blue Books —

Oh God, Pope John Paul II died and my
                    cousin Archbishop Ed McCarthy and
my dear, dear friend Fr. Carter —

I pray through their intercession so we
                    can do this —

I pray with all the angels and saints and the
souls in purgatory, through the powerful
intercession of Our Lady of Clearwater —

Oh God You are the source of all holiness,
help us never to be prideful and miss
the opportunity to grow to be more and
more holy — the ideal self more and more,
that God wants us to be —

The saints were witnesses to the truth
of Jesus, faithful to following Christ
                    in their lives —

The saints are now in heaven —

Please dear saints of heaven intercede
                    for us —

Help us to achieve greater sanctity —

Help this to be our goal (not pride,
competition and being right, and being
over others — who God has put
                    over us)

God help us to have the joy of the saints
who lived to serve You and with
zeal and joy knew that the most
                    important thing they did was
living in joy the vocation God
called them to in doing God's
                    will in love and joy.

                    Seeing the big picture —
                    Walking hand-in-hand serving
and loving God and making our
                        unique contribution in the building
of the Kingdom of God —

Father You are all powerful — help us
never to block the power You
want to use to work in us by
                    being selfish, prideful, envious,
                    jealous and seeking vain glory
                    for ourselves —

May our prayers in union with the
Mass - help to bring forgiveness and
unity and love to this earth —

Dear Holy Spirit fill us with Your
grace and help us to grow more and more
in the image of God —

Oh God please increase our faith,
                    hope and love—

Revelation 7: 2-4, 9-14

Then I saw another angel rising where the sun rises, carrying the seal of the living God; he called in a powerful voice to the four angels whose duty was to devastate land and sea, ‘Wait before you do any damage on land or at sea or to the trees, until we have put the seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.’ And I heard how many had been sealed: a hundred and forty–four thousand, out of all the tribes of Israel.

The rewarding of the saints

After that I saw that there was a huge number, impossible for anyone to count, of people from every nation, race, tribe and language; they were standing in front of the throne and in front of the Lamb, dressed in white robes and holding palms in their hands. They shouted in a loud voice, ‘Salvation to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!’ And all the angels who were standing in a circle round the throne, surrounding the elders and the four living creatures, prostrated themselves before the throne, and touched the ground with their foreheads, worshipping God with these words:

Amen. Praise and glory and wisdom,
    thanksgiving and honour
        and power and strength
to our God for ever and ever. Amen.

One of the elders then spoke and asked me, ‘Who are these people, dressed in white robes, and where have they come from?’ I answered him, ‘You can tell me, sir.’ Then he said, ‘These are the people who have been through the great trial; they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb.

                R. We read the first letter of John and
we see his instructions for the
                    Father's family for us —

1 John 3: 1-3

You must see what great love
the Father has lavished on us
by letting us be called God’s children—
which is what we are!
The reason why the world
    does not acknowledge us
is that it did not acknowledge him.
My dear friends,
    we are already God’s children,
but what we shall be in the future
    has not yet been revealed.
We are well aware that when he appears
we shall be like him,
because we shall see him as he really is.

First condition: to break with sin

Whoever treasures this hope of him
purifies himself, to be as pure as he is.

                R. The saints lived the Beatitudes —

Matthew 5: 1-12
The Beatitudes

Seeing the crowds, he went onto the mountain. And when he was
seated his disciples came to him. Then he began to speak. This is
what he taught them:

How blessed are the poor in spirit:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.
Blessed are the gentle:
they shall have the earth as inheritance.
Blessed are those who mourn:
they shall be comforted.
Blessed are those
who hunger and thirst for uprightness:
they shall have their fill.
Blessed are the merciful:
they shall have mercy shown them.
Blessed are the pure in heart:
they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
they shall be recognised
   as children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted
   in the cause of uprightness:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Blessed are you when people abuse you and persecute you and
speak all kinds of calumny against you falsely on my account.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven; this
is how they persecuted the prophets before you.

Matthew 5: 8-10

Blessed are the pure in heart:
they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers:
they shall be recognised
   as children of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted
   in the cause of uprightness:
the kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

                R. God must be first in our life —
We must love our neighbor as ourselves.

We are to be humble —
We are to be selfless and do God's will —

Direct us Father — help our hearts to
be pure and holy, more and more like Jesus.

Help us Father to see clearly —
                Help us to do Good
                Increase our faith —
                Help us to love

Selfishness blinds us — help us to
                    selflessly serve You —

Malachi 1: 14b; 2: 2, 8-10

Cursed be the rogue who has a male in his flock but pays his vow by sacrificing a blemished animal to me! For I am a great king, says Yahweh Sabaoth, and among the nations my name inspires awe.'

If you will not listen, if you will not sincerely resolve to glorify my name, says Yahweh Sabaoth, I shall certainly lay a curse on you and I shall curse your blessing. Indeed I will lay a curse, for none of you makes this resolve.

But you yourselves have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to lapse by your teaching. Since you have destroyed the covenant of Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth, so I in my turn have made you contemptible and vile to the whole people, for not having kept my ways and for being partial in applying the law.

'Is there not one Father of us all? Did not one God create us? Why, then, do we break faith with one another, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?

Soul of Christ Prayer

Soul of Christ, sanctify me
Body of Christ, save me
Blood of Christ, inebriate me
Water from the side of Christ wash me
Passion of Christ, strengthen me
O good Jesus, hear me
Within Thy wounds hide me
Permit me not to be separated from Thee
From the wicked foe defend me
at the hour of my death call me
and bid me come to Thee
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee
For ever and ever. Amen.

Sing: Jesus remember me when You
                        come into Your Kingdom

                R. Dear God help us to know You —
help us to faithfully serve You —
help us to serve you unselfishly —
help us to seek Your will and
                                act accordingly —
Help us to not act in desolation —

Help us to find happiness and to
                    be possessed by God —

What is the life of the saints —
                    praising and loving God for
                    all eternity —

Help our love to be a flame
                    of burning love given from
                    our heart —

The sun and moon and stars shine and
I am in awe of Thee, my
                    All Powerful God —

Let Your life be outpoured in
                    my heart as a beacon
                    light, a burning flame of
                    love —

                You are truth —
You feed us with the truth —

Help us not to seek anything, but truth,
in this we are close to Thee —
You, oh Jesus, are the way, the
                    truth and the life —

Dear God You love us so much —
help us to be ever grateful
                    of Your gift —

God help us to operate in virtue —
                    to practice virtue and
                    not to give into vices.

                Jesus came — our Redeemer
                    the Incarnate Son —

God help us to imitate Christ
in our ways — so we will
                    not be immoral, but follow
                    Christ, always —

Dear God help our minds and hearts
                    to be open —

Sing: Open Our Heart Lord —

                R. Our happiness lies
in knowing God more and more.

God has a reward promised to
those who love and serve Him.

                Increase our faith, hope and
                    love, Jesus, please help us.

Holy Spirit come, and fill the hearts of
                                  Your faithful with the
                                  fire of God's love —

Mark 16: 17-18

These are the signs that will be associated with believers: in my name they will cast out devils; they will have the gift of tongues; they will pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’

Romans 1: 16-17

For I see no reason to be ashamed of the gospel; it is God's power for the salvation of everyone who has faith -- Jews first, but Greeks as well-for in it is revealed the saving justice of God: a justice based on faith and addressed to faith. As it says in scripture: Anyone who is upright through faith will live.

Acts 2: 3-4

and there appeared to them tongues as of fire; these separated and came to rest on the head of each of them. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak different languages as the Spirit gave them power to express themselves."

Romans 5: 3-4

Not only that; let us exult, too, in our hardships, understanding that hardship develops perseverance, and perseverance develops a tested character, something that gives us hope,

Luke 22: 19

Then he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.’

1 Peter 1: 18-19

For you know that the price of your ransom from the futile way of life handed down from your ancestors was paid, not in anything perishable like silver or gold, but in precious blood as of a blameless and spotless lamb, Christ.

John 11: 25

Jesus said:

I am the resurrection.
Anyone who believes in me,
even though that person dies, will live,

Matthew 4: 19

And he said to them, ‘Come after me and I will make you fishers of people.’

1 Corinthians 3: 6-9

I did the planting, Apollos did the watering, but God gave growth. In this, neither the planter nor the waterer counts for anything; only God, who gives growth. It is all one who does the planting and who does the watering, and each will have the proper pay for the work that he has done. After all, we do share in God’s work; you are God’s farm, God’s building.

Isaiah 30: 21

Your ears will hear these words
    behind you,
'This is the way, keep to it,'
whether you turn to right or left.

Mark 16: 18

they will pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’

Isaiah 61: 1

The spirit of Lord Yahweh
     is on me
for Yahweh has anointed me.
He has sent me to bring the news
     to the afflicted,
to soothe the broken–hearted,

1 John 4: 16

We have recognised for ourselves,
and put our faith in,
the love God has for us.
God is love,
and whoever remains in love
    remains in God
and God in him.

                R. Much illness relates to
                    our bad disposition of
                    our hearts,
                    bitterness, resentment
                    and unforgiveness —

Each one of us have something
                    valuable to contribute —

                Our hearts can be our
                    way to learn to be
                    Wounded - Healers —

Psalm 84: 4

How blessed are those who live in your house;
    they shall praise you continually.
Pause

                R. Looking back over our life —

                We have a past —
We are a product of that past —

                Happiness is in God —

Praying for grace to be healed
                    from past wounds,
to forgive and let go of
                    bitterness —

To be free to be more and more like Jesus.

1 Corinthians 1: 31

As scripture says: If anyone wants to boast, let him boast of the Lord.

                R. God has a purpose for our life —

We can look at the back of the
tapestry and miss the front side
of the beauty of God's plan for
                    us.

There is healing for us in the
                    Word and the Eucharist —

Mark 16: 18

they will pick up snakes in their hands and be unharmed should they drink deadly poison; they will lay their hands on the sick, who will recover.’

                R. God wants us to ask for healing
                    in our hearts and
                    heal those places with His
                    grace and disciplining ourselves
                    so we grow —

In my distress I prayed to the Lord and He rescued me.

Psalm 118: 1, 8-9, 21-23, 26, 21, 29

Processional hymn for the feast of Shelters

Alleluia!

Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good,
for his faithful love endures for ever.

It is better to take refuge in Yahweh
than to rely on human beings;
better to take refuge in Yahweh
than to rely on princes.

I thank you for hearing me,
and making yourself my Saviour.

The stone which the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone;
This is Yahweh’s doing,
and we marvel at it.

Blessed in the name of Yahweh is he who is coming!
We bless you from the house of Yahweh.

I thank you for hearing me,
and making yourself my Saviour.

Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good,
for his faithful love endures for ever.

                R. We must be open to do God's
will and let Him heal us and
                    work in us.

                Oh God, outpour Your gifts
                    to me —
                    let me feel You working
                        inside of me —
                    I surrender myself to
                        Thee —

Galatians 5: 22

On the other hand the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, trustfulness,

                R. Oh Spirit of God fill me —

Holy Spirit Novena

DAILY NOVENA PRAYERS

Opening Prayer

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Dear Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus, in union with Him in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in the Holy Spirit. We come to You united to the Child Jesus of Good Health and the Infant of Prague. We come to You in the perfect, sinless heart of Our Mother Mary, asking her powerful intercession, uniting ourselves to her holy tears. We come to You united to all the angels and saints, and the souls in purgatory.

Prayer for Holy Spirit

We pray for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit on us, to be baptized by the Holy Spirit, that He will descend mightily on us as He did on the Apostles at Pentecost. That the Holy Spirit will transform us from fear to fearlessness and that He will give us courage to do all the Father is asking of us to help bring about the Reign of the Sacred Heart and the triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart. We pray for the Holy Spirit to descend mightily on the Jesuits and the Poor Clares on the Shepherds of Christ leaders and members and on the whole Body of Christ and the world.

Protection by the Blood of Jesus

We pray that the Blood of Jesus will be spread on us, everyone in our families, and the Shepherds of Christ Movement, that we will be able to move steadfastly ahead and be protected from the evil one.

Healing

We pray for healing in body, mind, and soul and generational healing in ourselves, in all members in our families, and in all members of the Shepherds of Christ Movement, the Jesuit Community, the Poor Clares, the Body of Christ, and the world.

Prayer for Strength and Light

We adore You, oh Holy Spirit. Give us strength, give us light, console us. We give ourselves entirely to You. Oh Spirit of light and grace, we want to only do the will of the Father. Enlighten us that we may live always in the Father's will.

Eternal Spirit fill us with Your Divine Wisdom that we may comprehend more fully insight into Your Divine Mysteries.

Give us lights, Oh Holy Spirit that we may know God. Work within the heart, the spiritual womb of the Virgin Mary, to form us more and more into the image of Jesus.

Prayer to Be One with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit

We long for You, Oh Spirit of Light, we long to know God, we want to be one with Him, our Divine God. We want to be one with the Father, know Him as a Person most intimately. We want to know the beloved One, the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and live and dwell in Him at all times, every moment of our lives. We want to be one with You, Oh Spirit of Light, that You move in us in our every breath.

Prayer to Be One in Jesus

Let us experience life in the Sacred Heart of Jesus, so we can say as Saint Paul, "I have been crucified with Christ and yet I am alive; yet it is no longer I, but Christ living in me...." Let us live, united to the Mass, all through the day being one in Him. Let us be able to love and know in this elevated state of oneness with our God. We long for Thee, oh beauteous God, we love You, we love You, we love You. We praise You, worship You, honor You, adore You, and thank You, our beloved God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Prayer to Dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary

We seek to be one in God, to live and dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, our little heaven on earth, to experience life in the all perfect, pure, sinless heart of our Mother. We want the Holy Spirit to move in us and to be united to Jesus as the Bridegroom of our souls and be a most perfect sacrifice offered to the Father at every moment as we unite in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass around the world to help in the salvation of souls.

Prayer for the Holy Spirit and His Gifts

Come Holy Spirit, come, come into our hearts, inflame all people with the fire of Your love.

Leader: Send forth Your Spirit and all will be reborn.
All:  And You will renew the face of the earth.

We pray for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, we ask for perfection in our souls to make us holy, holy souls likened to God.

Dear Holy Spirit, we give ourselves to You soul and body. We ask You to give us the Spirit of Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety, and Fear of the Lord.

Prayer for the Word Alive in Our Hearts

We know, dear Holy Spirit, the Word in His human nature was brought forth within the womb of the woman. We pray that His word will be brought forth in our hearts as He lives and dwells in us. We want the incarnation to go on in our lives. Dear Holy Spirit, work in us.

Little Prayers to the Holy Spirit

Dear Holy Spirit, help us not to be ignorant or indifferent or weak, help us to be strong with the love of God.

Dear Holy Spirit, please pray for our needs for us.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to respect God and to avoid sin. Help us to live in the Father's will.

Dear Holy Spirit, help us to keep Your commandments and to respect authority. Help us to love all things as You will us to love them. Help us to want to pray and always serve God with the greatest love. Help us to know the truth. Help us to have the gift of faith, hope, and love. Help us to know what is right and what is wrong.

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

                R. Spirit fill me

    From the Lectionary

                        Pentecost Sequence

Come, Holy Spirit, come!
And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine!

Come, Father of the poor!
Come, source of all our store!
    Come, within our bosoms shine!

You, of comforters the best;
You, the soul's most welcome guest;
    Sweet refreshment here below;

In our Labor, rest most sweet;
Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.

O most blessed Light divine,
Shine within these hearts of yours,
    And our inmost being fill!

Where you are not, man has naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint of ill!

Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour your dew;
    Wash the stains of guilt away;

Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.

On the faithful, who adore
And confess you, evermore
    In your sev'nfold gift descend;

Give them virtue's sure reward;
Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end. Amen.
Alleluia.

                Sing: Veni Sanctus Spiritus

Matthew 18: 3

Then he said, ‘In truth I tell you, unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of Heaven.

John 14: 16

I shall ask the Father,
and he will give you another Paraclete
to be with you for ever,

                R. Holy Spirit come to me in a Mighty way —

John 14: 12

In all truth I tell you,
whoever believes in me
will perform the same works
    as I do myself,
and will perform even greater works,
because I am going to the Father.

                Sing: Come Holy Ghost

                Sing: How Great Thou Art

                R. Come Holy Spirit fill our hearts

Romans 5: 20

When law came on the scene, it was to multiply the offences. But however much sin increased, grace was always greater;

                R. Response in Christ —

                God first loved us —

We must respond to Him —

Ephesians 3: 14-21

Paul’s prayer

This, then, is what I pray, kneeling before the Father, from whom every fatherhood, in heaven or on earth, takes its name. In the abundance of his glory may he, through his Spirit, enable you to grow firm in power with regard to your inner self, so that Christ may live in your hearts through faith, and then, planted in love and built on love, with all God’s holy people you will have the strength to grasp the breadth and the length, the height and the depth; so that, knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond knowledge, you may be filled with the utter fullness of God.

Glory be to him whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine; glory be to him from generation to generation in the Church and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen.

                R. God loves us —

                We must realize this
                Holy Spirit come to me

1 Corinthians 11: 26

Whenever you eat this bread, then, and drink this cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death until he comes.

                R. Love is the basic ingredient
                    of life —

Love makes the world go round
                God loves us lavishly —
                We must see this to
                    be truly happy —

                Second Message

We were created by God and God is
our Father — God is love — we are to
                be instruments of love —

Being as God created us to be — our whole
life growing in this love capacity we
received at baptism, if we were
baptized — The capacity to know and
love God and others because our
knowing and loving capacity is elevated
                at baptism —

The incarnation goes on in us. We are
to be formed in the spiritual womb —
Mary's Immaculate Heart more and more
in that image of God through the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is love - We are growing in loving.
We are growing in knowing God — His
                truths.

The end doesn't justify the means —
The devil works pressing down on a
soul and there is a negative energy
at work in anger, jealous eyes,
envy, and if a person acts in
desolation then the devil has tempted
them and they gave in with fury —
Jealous eyes — They may say "oh I am left out —
I have been betrayed" — the timing —
                the nervousness, the sadness, the
anger gives it away — the thoughts -
They may say, "I will show them
                I will get even "—

                    A person doing God's will — acts
because it is God's will — they don't
act out of jealousy, to get even,
to punish someone, to be relieved
in anger, their anger, an energy
                coming from the temptation from
the devil and they feed it with this
nervous energy to act now, to do
it because they are acting by
                how they feel negatively, without
love, energy, 'I will show them'
attitude — get it done fast because
my heart is telling me — it's wrong —
'but I will do it anyway and it will
be okay' — thinking opposed to God's
                will, thinking of raising oneself
                up over authority — .
They can be bored, the devil moves in
in that space and worked on them
and it can be in anger they gave in —
they can act in secret, but their
                intention when they divulge it
is aggressive — to provoke another —
so they did not get ruffled — it
                is passive-aggressive and then
the lying continues — they tell
themselves what is wrong is right —
they can justify their actions, they can
                hem and haw around

like a child steeling from the
cookie jar and lying to the parent —
their focus is — they did not want
to get caught, they wanted their
                way —

Sin is sin — a person justifying
their sin with the lies of satan
                becomes angered when a person
over, tries to unveil the evil —
angrily they can go back to a
                childhood scream to say —
"I can do nothing right, I am
                always wrong — with more
anger and emotion to get away
                with what they did"

Doing wrong is always wrong and
                when one is not accountable
nor will they own up to what they
did was wrong, they are showing
they have bent the rules which
are truth and they insist on
                this fallacy and leeway, unaccountability
                as they rule —

This is how rules are made,
                by one forcing rules against
God's will and the devil presses
down even harder the next time —
The devil's way, two steps forward,
one back — so he can slowly
tempt a moral soul to give into him.

A person who is wounded and
does not look to heal the wounds
of the heart can project on innocent others
now, the hatred they feel for one who
                wounded them long ago.

                    Unhealed wounded lover
                related episodes can surface
and be acted out blindly by the
one scorned. Having to go to
                Mass and receive Jesus truly
present in such love for us
                should never be done by
one who is filled with unjust anger
                at his brothers  inside —

                    The angry person is missing
the real Master, the real gift,
the idea of sacrifice and the
cleaning in the soul before one
                receives God.

                    What an offense, where love
                and reconciliation, thanksgiving
and love are to be given to God.
The Mass is the most intimate
love affair with God where we
want our hearts to be a blameless
offering to give to the Divine God —
to be reconciled for our offenses
                individually and the human race
against God — where we are to
come in humility and love to
                receive Him —

God is giving us this gift of
                His love. How offensive to
                come without the proper dress
to the wedding of our souls.

                    Read Blue Book I   December 27, 1993.

                R. When one lies deeply and hides
the lie from others they were
called to serve, they send themselves
far from God who is the truth.
This is misery for the soul
created for truth and love —
In hell souls are suffering and
will not know a drop of love —
                they suffer in isolation —
in darkness — a pit of
hell — NO LOVE, NO TRUST,
                NO UNION with anyone —
We were created to be great lovers —
                When people remain in sin
because they lie for years about
                the truth and what really
                happened — they drive themselves
from God — the truth —
                Confession is Accountability and Responsibility.
                Confession is reconciling oneself
                    to God —

                Telling the truth —
                Sorry for sin —

                Puts our relationship right
                    with God —

                Humility is truth —

                Humility
                Truth

We tell the truth about the evil
in us and we want to die
                    to it —

We are praising God for the
good in us and what we have
                    done.

                The vices, anger, seeking dominance
                    for dominance sake, lying,
                    jealousy, envy, slothfulness,
                    lust, gluttony — drive us
                    away from God —

                In hell souls suffer from
                    not having any love —
                    not having God —

                In heaven souls who followed
                    God's rules, who learned and
lived to know and love God
                    are possessed by God —

                They experience the beatific
                    vision —

                They are rewarded for doing
                    God's will —

Souls in heaven are in God's will —

They are full of His life —

At the beginning of Mass we
                     can be forgiven for our
venial sins — we come with
                     a truthful heart —
We come to unite the sacrifice
                           of ourselves, pure and
                           contrite to God the Father,
                           united to the sacrifice
of Jesus in the Holy Spirit, through
                           the intercession of Mary
with all the angels and saints.

                  Bishop Sheen said once that
                        people in dark sin
                        cannot stand to look
                        at the Eucharist — they
                        turn form it —

                    A person sinning
                with a contrite heart
is sorry for their sins —
                they are accountable and
                responsible —

                    They don't lie to themselves
and try to make right → wrong
                and wrong → right —
                to camouflage the wrong
they did — A contrite soul
                tells the truth, about their
                sins — they don't stretch things —
                to manipulate others —
                they don't make things
                fail to make themselves
                be right —

They act not out of anger, jealousy,
                    envy but to do God's
                    will.

                Sin, lies, drive us
                from God - makes us
                angry inside — we
                were created to love and
                be children of the light.

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts
Inspiring Homilies covering partial year of Cycle A by Fr. Joe Robinson
$ 5.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts. - Cycle A (partial) Homilies by the Reverend Joe Robinson given at St. Boniface Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a tremendous honor Fr. Joe has allowed us to share these great gifts with you – for greater holiness and knowing more and more about God. $10

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ..." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
