e) Relationship with Members of the Church

There is but one true Church of Christ. Yet this one Church has three different states of existence. There is the pilgrim Church, the Church of this world, composed of members who have received the grace of Christ and strive for its development. They have not yet obtained the goal of their efforts, as have the members of the heavenly Church, who enjoy God in eternal happiness. The Church suffering is an intermediate state of existence necessary for those who had not achieved the required purification as members of the pilgrim Church. Although there are these three phases of the Church’s existence, there is a profound union existing between all the members. All these members possess the same basic life of grace in Christ, and this common life establishes the most intimate bonds of love. In our preceding chapter, we discussed the pilgrim Church. Let us now consider the Church suffering and the heavenly Church.

The members of the Church suffering are those who have departed from this life in an incomplete state of Christian development. Their development is incomplete in the sense that grace has not fully taken possession of them, and, as a result, they are yet closed in upon themselves to a greater or lesser degree. They as yet cannot open themselves out in complete love to the Triune God in the beatific vision. They must undergo a further purification, a purification which could have been achieved upon earth with merit. Now the purification must be achieved with no merit attached. The pain of this purification is mixed with the certain expectation of achieving the vision of God. We can hasten the advent of this vision for this people by the offering of prayers and other good works. Scripture itself refers to our action on behalf of those in purgatory in Chapter 12 of the Second Book of Maccabees beginning with verse 38.

The members of the heavenly Church are those in whom the life of grace has taken full possession and has reached its completion in the life of glory. Faith now is unnecessary, as the light of glory gives the human intellect a new strength and capacity for seeing God face-to-face. While the Christian was a wayfarer, he received the imprint of the indwelling Trinity as he shared in God’s own life. Now in heaven that grace-life and possession of God reaches its completion—the absolute completion is not achieved, however, until the resurrection of the body. The divine persons give Themselves to the beatified in a profound union far surpassing that of the indwelling of the Trinity experienced here below.

This life of heaven is still the Christ-life, for just as we possess a share in Trinitarian life here below as mediated by Christ, and exercise this grace-life as structured by Him, so also in heaven is the mediation of Christ present. In the words of Rahner, "One always sees the Father through Jesus. Just as immediately as this, for the directness of the vision of God is not a denial of the mediatorship of Christ as man."¹⁴ And not only does the humanity of Christ unite the blessed to God, but also, in some way, to the whole of creation. This is merely a completion of what is begun here below, namely, the union with Christ in His humanity establishing the Christian in a special relationship with God, with other men, and with the whole of creation. We have a glimpse, therefore, of the fullness of life which members of the heavenly Church possess.

The heavenly Church, as St. Thomas says, is the true Church.¹⁵ The Church of this earth and the Church of purgatory are, each in its own way, reaching out in loving hope for the heavenly Jerusalem. Vatican II puts it very simply: "The Church, to which we are called in Christ Jesus, and in which we acquire sanctity through the grace of God, will attain her full perfection only in the glory of heaven."¹⁶

The members of the heavenly Church can help us in living our life of grace until we too share its fullness with them. Their power of intercession on our behalf is but another ramification of the communal aspect of Christianity. We are meant to help others grow in Christ. We, in turn, are intended by God to receive aid from others—yes, from members of the heavenly Church, as well as from those with whom we dwell here below.

Not only can we be aided by the saints’ intercession, but the example of the canonized saints can also be of great value to us. They have concretely proved that full holiness is possible. Such an inspiration is of real worth when we are tempted to think that Christian sanctity in its higher degrees is impossible of attainment. Moreover, the canonized saints, in their diversity, teach us that there are many authentic versions of Christian holiness. They can be innovators in showing us that there are numerous possibilities in assimilating the mystery of Christ, although the basic assimilation remains the same for all Christians of all times. In the opinion of Rahner this is one of the chief roles the canonized saints exert in the life of the Church.¹⁷

All Saints - November 1, 2007

INTRODUCTION: Our first reading is from the book of Revelation. The section just preceding today’s passage described the end of the world. The sun became dark and the moon became red as blood and there was a great earthquake all over the earth. People tried to hide from all these terrible things and they asked: “Who can survive?” Today’s reading answers the question - those who have followed Christ faithfully. The number 144,000 is a symbolic number, symbolizing perfection. Notice after it refers to the 144,000 it speaks of those who are saved as such a large crowd that no one could count them.

     

1 John 3: 1-3

You must see what great love
    the Father has lavished on us
by letting us be called God’s children—
which is what we are!
The reason why the world
    does not acknowledge us
is that it did not acknowledge him.
My dear friends,
    we are already God’s children,
but what we shall be in the future
    has not yet been revealed.
We are well aware that when he appears
we shall be like him,
because we shall see him as he really is.

Whoever treasures this hope of him
purifies himself, to be as pure as he is.

                R. What we must do is seek to be more
                    perfected as our Heavenly Father is
                    perfect —

                God wants us to love —

                God wants us to be united, in love, in
                    the Father's family —

                Our purpose — we were created to love —

                We were created to be more and more
                    holy —

                God gave us Mary, the perfect handmaid
                    of the Lord —

                We see in the Marriage of Cana scripture
                    that Jesus worked His first public
                    miracle after His Mother told
                    Him they had no wine —

                Mary, then, told us the essence of
                    the spiritual life —
                    "Do whatever He tells you"

                He worked this miracle at the
                    intercession of Mary and
                    Mary tells us how to be
                    "Do whatever He tells you"

                In Blue Book 4 — Mary was appearing
                    to me every day —
   

                R. She told me how Jesus loves us — She
                told me of the love of her heart for
                Jesus and how He suffered and
                she suffered for love of us —

                    Blue Book 4 tells us the love
                going on between these two perfect
                Hearts of Love for each other and
                for us —

                    We see Jesus, the Divine Almighty
                God, and His love for Mary — a
                human person, a creation, a
                creature created by God the Father
                conceived without sin —

                We know from this - more - how
                Jesus in loving Mary so much — could
                love us — so much — We see His sufferings
                in love in His passion for us and for
                Mary — in the peering eyes message

                I remember these days so well —

                    At the beginning of Blue Book IV I never
                knew Mary would begin appearing
                on July 5, but I was being told
                about the Persons of the Trinity,
                July 1, the Holy Spirit, the Father, they were
                preparing me since June 16 (Blue Book III)
                for what would come, but I had to
                obey and seek to hear Jesus and
                Mary speak to me —

                    God gives us our senses to speak
                to each other — to communicate — to
                try to understand each others' hearts —
                to obey the Church and structure —
                we listen to the Word — the Catechism —
                the devil wants to "jam" communication
                thinking we should not communicate
                clearly and with love for building
                God's Kingdom as we should —

                    I do not have the Blue Books 3 and
                4 with me here — these experiences are etched
                in my being — Mary appearing as she
                once did July 5, 1994 and my two
                children were with me —

                    Then on July 10, 1994, Fr. Carter
                said Jesus and Mary told him to
                come, every day and pray with
                my children and me as Mary appeared.
                Some days the apparition was so powerful
                I could hardly get up from the chair —
                I began the rosary at 6:30 before the
                Sorrowful Mother Statue and then
                Mary would appear — We had a picture
                of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Jesus
                at her feet —

                R. The children would leave after the rosary
                Fr. Carter would have me say
                the rosary and
                he always wanted the 7 sorrows —
                He then had me say the Litany of the Sacred Heart
                    after Mary appeared —
                    sometimes she was still appearing —

                He had us light candles
                    with devotion for God the Father
                    with devotion for Jesus
                    with devotion for the Holy Spirit
                    with devotion to Mary

                and then he prayed for the whole
                    human family —

                On July 31, 1994 — Feast of St. Ignatius
                    Fr. Carter got this message

                R. On August 1, 1994 when it was
                    early morning, at the once
                    seminary, and I was by
                    myself — Mary appeared —
                    and I got this message

                    the back of Blue Book IV

                I remember the 17th meeting in July,
                    1994 — Ellen went out of town
                    and I put in the handwritten
                    messages on the rosary for the
                    program — the program is in the
                    17th book and you can click and
                    see it. July 17, 1994 Click
                    August 17, 1994 Click

                The 17th meeting in August was
                        so awesome — I had received the
                    "I watched You" message from
                    Jesus August 11, 1994 and then
                    the peering eyes message —
                    August 10, 1994 and was being told about
                    the love of Jesus' Heart for Mary and
                    Mary's Heart for Jesus and experiencing
                    the suffering of these Hearts of love
                    for each other and for us — By the
                    August 17th meeting — the picture on the
                    front of the booklet was etched in
                    my soul — so to speak of it — is to
                    barely touch the message I knew —
                    but with God's grace as one reads the
                    messages of Jesus and Mary in Blue Book IV and
                    reads them over and over again — God works
                    in teaching us about tender love —
                    love of the 2 Hearts — love of Divinity
                    for humanity — Love, Love, Love —
                    God is love —

                    As I went into the month of September —
                September 3, First Saturday —
                Fr. Carter and I were going to Falmouth and
                that morning I had such an experience
                of her sufferings and sorrow, I was
                so shaken — I thought I couldn't go —
                I called Sr. Rita, I was wiped out —
                then I called Fr. Carter and he said I should
                go — God wanted me to go —

                    That night Fr. Carter and I went to the
                Holy Spirit Center for the 6:30 apparition
                We were early — I went to the front
                of the Church and this is what happened

On September 3, 1994 - First Saturday

R. I suffered the greatest sorrow within my heart for the sorrows of Mary. I had gone to Mass and the priest had done the peace rosary.

This is what would happen to me at Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Center. My heart would be in such anguish because of the sorrows of Mary I experienced. I would be buckled over in pain. This day I was before the Sorrowful Mother statue in the back of the main chapel. We were going to the Falmouth, Kentucky Farm, that day to pray. I was so drained and weak from this experience, I thought I could not go. I was weakened, so weakened, the experience lasted about an hour and was so intense. I existed in this intense pain of the Immaculate Heart.

That afternoon we came for the 6:30 p.m. prayers where Our Lady would appear. At 6:00 p.m. I went to the tabernacle in the Rosary Chapel and there was this picture of Jesus to the left of the tabernacle and a candle with the Sacred Heart of Jesus on it. There was sunlight in the room from the rosary windows. I sat before the tabernacle on the altar as I had done so many times, before the picture and left of the tabernacle. I began to experience the deepest agony of His Heart. I knew the sorrow of His Heart for all who do not come before Him in the Blessed Sacrament . I knew His sorrow so deep within me for all the blocks I had experienced in delivering the messages. I was so weakened and I was suffering. Then the lights in the room dimmed and the picture of the Sacred Heart turned black before me. I could very faintly see His outline behind the blackness. The candle of the Sacred Heart went out. I sat on the end of my chair in pain and suffering and a fear shot through me. I wondered what had happened. It remained this way for about 5 minutes.

Then the light in the room returned, the candle went on and the picture became bright, all instantaneously, brighter than ever before. I went to the back of the chapel where Mary would appear, to do the 6:30 p.m. prayers and I cried. I was so shaken from the experience. Father Carter was there for the prayers. I was told to tell Father Smith, which I did.

                R. I write all this like it just happened
                and it was 16 years ago — without Blue Book IV
                or any props

                    I know exactly how it came —
                    I know how I felt
                    I never forget —

                    When I read the messages I read
                        as God speaks to me 16
                        years later —

                    It is written and etched on my soul —
                    I see with such a clear reality even
                    where I was October 5, 1992 when I
                    asked Jesus — if He would write
                    a book, to use my hand —

                On January 17, 1994 I had received this
                    prayer in 2 minutes

                R. Earlier that morning I got the message
                    "I want my priests to come back"

                before the end of the month January, 1994 —
                we sent these two messages to all
                    Bishops in the United States
                    December 27, 1993 and January 17, 1994

                This actually was the first priestly
                    mailing of the soon to be founded
                    Shepherds of Christ —

                In March, 1994 they gave Fr. Carter Blue Book I
                    to discern —
                    Fr. Carter had a doctors in theology and
                        authored 17 books —

                    I didn't know him —

                On March 10, 1994 — I turned in
                    my grand piano for their use at the
                    once seminary, and as they took it
                    up the aisle —

                Fr. Carter came into the back of the Rosary
                    Chapel with a few others —
                    I spoke to him —
                    I remember my conversation about
                        Jesus dying on the cross and my
                        new insight into that and

                    Fr. Carter looked at me puzzled —

                    I got into the car after that and
                        said I knew Jesus was
                        talking to me and I didn't
                        know what Fr. Carter thought —
 
                    On February 17, 1994 — Jesus told me to
                do the first Blue Book Meeting —
                click — if you want to see it —

                Fr. Carter was not there, I didn't know him —

                    On March 17, 1994 we did the
                Blue Book Meeting with the two
                messages about a big boom from
                March 7, 1994 and March 13, 1994 —
                I had told the priest Jesus wanted my piano
                in the chapel — not in the priest house
                and this was March 6 — the priest
                said — if Jesus wants that piano in
                the chapel - He will have to knock
                a wall out —

                    On March 22, 1994 — 5 days
                after the 17th meeting in the chapel —
                I had received a message around
                10AM — there would be the biggest boom
                I ever heard, but don't be afraid —
                they will walk around like they are
                bumping heads and the biggest boom
                would come I ever heard —

                    I went to the chapel — they had done
                one decade of the rosary and I was
                crying because they never listened
                to me —

                    I sat down and there was the biggest
                boom I ever heard — It was March 22, 1994
                Lucia's birthday and the corner of the
                once seminary fell off in minutes

                R. Fr. Mike was going to his old room and
                    his beeper went off — he was several
                    hospitals' chaplain
                He left to find a phone
                When he came back —
                The corner was off —
                He was going to his old room
                    to pray —
                Nobody called him —
                He said Mary saved his life —
                    she called him and
                    he was on Oprah with this
                    story and in books —

                    I met with Fr. Carter for the first time —
                March 26, 1994 and he said I was a genuine
                locutionist, he believed —

                    The guy who took me was giving
                me a hard time — he became the
                first president later of the Shepherds of Christ —
                Fr. Carter always stood up for me —

                    In April we had the 17th meeting at
                        the once seminary —
                        now Marian Center —

                    That afternoon they made this
                        video of me as I talked —
                        in the court yard about the Blue Book I —
                        Reading the Prayer for Union and
                        the sun pulsated

THE JUDGMENTS of reason or of God on the morality of human acts are based on the nature of reality itself. They are as inescapable as reality itself. An act is good and worthy of praise when it can be properly directed to man's last end, perfect happiness. It is sin and worthy of reproach and punishment when it cannot be ordered to man's last end.

THE MORALITY OF HUMAN ACTIONS is pregnant therefore with important consequences for man. When a man so lives that his actions are directed to true happiness according to right reason he will ultimately attain true happiness. When his actions are not so directed or are incapable of being so directed he will lose his ultimate happiness.

MORALITY IS FOUND in every truly human act. Every deliberate, controlled act of a man will take him toward happiness or away from it. The dignity and the power of each man's freedom and control over his own human actions is clear. When a man's controlled command of his own actions is directed by right reason to his last end, then that man is capable of reaching out beyond the space-time limits of the whole universe to the ageless, limitless horizons of the vision of God. When his deliberate, controlled actions are directed against the dictates of right reason to some other goal than perfect happiness then that man is descending into the smallest region of the confining and restraining limits of his own meager self. Good is an expanding force, capable of opening up the soul of man to the limitless vistas of the Divine Being. Evil and sin are constraining and limiting forces, capable of imprisoning man in the narrow confines of his smallest self.

                R. We are to act to do good as God
                    desires us to act —

                (1) Right reason —
                (2) Doing the will of God in love

                We have a free will —

                To seek the vision of God and act as
                    God wants us to act —

                OR

                To give into the deadly sins and offend
                    God — not love and hurt others —
                Working against the Plan of the
                    Father —

                Love is an energy burning in our
                    soul to do God's will and be
                    likened more and more to God

                Hate — anger — against God's Plan —
                    is an energy to tear
                    down the building of those
                    helping to build God's
                    Kingdom and give into this
                    destruction as failure —
                    rebellion —
                    working against God's Plan
                    Anger can come out of vengeance
                    one has toward another — who
                    thinks an injustice was done
                    to him —

                    The bad thing is — satan tries to manipulate
                emotions and hurts in an individual
                who is severely wounded because of
                the injustice of another and the
                person can act out vengeance on an
                innocent person for doing nothing —
                If a person is angry, wounded, and not
                healed they can seek the unfinished business
                in them be settled as they act out
                their wounds on innocent others —
                Some who engage in marriages have
                been betrayed grossly by an unfaithful
                spouse — It is very difficult if one
                has become pregnant due to
                unfaithfulness and other children
                are involved —

                This is an example of how one
                may continue acting out on others
                the horrible betrayal and loss
                of it —

                Adults can act out the perfectionism
                of parents by becoming so involved
                in their performance and people's
                appreciation of it, because parents
                may have been critical and demanding
                perfection — the person lives their lives
                seeking others to help them solve this
                unfinished business —

                    The involvement is with fixing
                past hurts — the vision is through
                wounded eyes wanting other adults
                to fix a childhood anger and disappointment
                they have internally in their concept of
                themselves ie thinking they never do anything right
                and trying to be super-man so others will say —
                "wow — you are great" —
                they can live to have this deep seated
                    wound healed by acting out on
                    others —

                Only they can look at the wound —
                    they need to change their distorted
                    vision of themselves and be acting
                    according to the Father's will,
                    purely for pleasing God and building
                    God's Kingdom
                    not vain recognition

                Right Reason —

                Justice — not injustice for our wounds
                    heaped on others —

                    If a person is angry because of an
                injury done to them — they need to heal —
                not blame innocent others for
                the injustice done to them and act
                out their vengeance on innocent
                others —

                    The energy inside of us is to seek
                good — not trap our brothers and act
                out vengeance toward innocent others —
                1) Right reason — according to God's will
                    loving God and others

                2) An act of the will to love and do good to
                    build God's Kingdom

                God made the rules —
                We can rebel or
                We can follow them

                All our passions are to be controlled
                    by right reason and will —

                To seek healing our hearts of pent up
                    anger and guilt and old wounds
                    for which we may want justice
                    (or so we think) for wrongs done
                    to us —

                If a man's passions become in
                    control — he leads himself
                    to destruction —

                Christ showed us how He suffered
                    and rose — If we set about
                    our life seeking pleasure
                    always we miss the Pascal
                    Mystery of Death/Resurrection

                R. Slavery — we see the slavery of the Old Testament —
                We see the Kings that conquered — took the people
                    as slaves

                Men were recognized on the throne —

                Jesus came to set the captives free —
                    So many today are not free —
                       because they make themselves
                       slaves of satan —

                Many People in the Old Testament worshipped false gods —

                We see the faith of Joseph, Abraham and Jacob —

                Joseph chosen by God was sold
                    as a slave —
                    sold for money

                Judas sold Jesus for 30 pieces of
                    silver

                We see the slavery at the time of Moses —

                Moses came in a basket

                Jesus is the bread of life —

                Moses was raised by the Pharaoh and
                    still Moses knew what he was
                    to do —

                God blesses us
                God gives us gifts —
                God loves us so much —

                We see the slaves — whipped, disrespected
                    treated with inhumanity —

                Look at how people murder babies today
                    and give into satan —

                Little babies hands and legs are cut off

                        INNOCENT

                mutilated for men enslaved to satan
                disrespected, maimed in their mother's womb

                Joseph's masters wife lied —
                    she said Joseph came to her —
                    when she wanted Joseph to
                    engage in promiscuous sexual activity with her
                    and she wanted Joseph to betray his master
                    for her lust

                Joseph had 10 brothers before Benjamin
                We can be envious of our brothers
                    like Joseph's brothers

                Joseph was the son of Jacob and Rachel
                Joseph's brothers were not peaceable
                Dinah, Joseph's sister, was raped —
                Jacob's sons revenged this
                They were ruthless
                They were killers in revenge

Genesis 35: 9-15

God again appeared to Jacob on his return from Paddan-Aram, and blessed him. God said to him, 'Your name is Jacob, but from now on you will be called not Jacob but Israel.' Thus he came by the name Israel. God said to him, 'I am El Shaddai. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation, indeed an assembly of nations, will descend from you, and kings will issue from your loins. The country which I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I now give to you; and this country I shall give to your descendants after you.' Then God went up from him.                 The brothers didn't want Joseph
                    carrying on the line —

                Joseph and Benjamin were gentle and
                    kind and obedient —

                God lets us suffer —

                We suffer because of others' sins —

                The good suffer, many times, because of
                    the evil of others —

                Some work really hard to please God and
                    others because of jealousy and
                    envy and pride — 'setup' those working
                    really hard — hoping to make them
                    look bad and suffer —

                The story of Joseph's brothers — shows
                    us how we are not to treat
                    our brothers —

                Joseph told his brothers of his dream and
                    they laughed —

                Joseph had a dream about the
                    famine to come —
                    he told them to store the grain in
                    the 7 years of plenty

                Joseph had two sons

                There was famine in all other countries —

                Food was available in Egypt —

                All the world came to Joseph —

                Joseph was once sold into slavery —

                Now people had to go to Joseph to be fed —

                God will not be out done in generosity —

                The famine came as God promised —

                Joseph's brothers went to Egypt
                    to get grain —

                Joseph was governor of the country —

                Jacob kept Benjamin behind —

                Joseph's brothers knelt down before
                    him, their faces to the ground —

                Joseph remembered his dreams —

Genesis 42: 14-17

To which Joseph retorted, 'It is as I said, you are spies. This is the test you are to undergo: as sure as Pharaoh lives you shall not leave unless your youngest brother comes here. Send one of your number to fetch your brother; you others will remain under arrest, so that your statements can be tested to see whether or not you are honest. If not, then as sure as Pharaoh lives you are spies.' Whereupon, he put them all into custody for three days.

Genesis 43: 1-4

Whereupon, he put them all into custody for three days. and when they had finished eating the supplies which they had brought from Egypt their father said to them, 'Go back and get us a little food.' 'But', Judah replied, 'the man expressly warned us, "You will not be admitted to my presence unless your brother is with you." If you are ready to send our brother with us, we will go down and get food for you.

   

Genesis 45: 1-3

Then Joseph could not control his feelings in front of all his retainers, and he exclaimed, 'Let everyone leave me.' No one therefore was present with him while Joseph made himself known to his brothers, but he wept so loudly that all the Egyptians heard, and the news reached Pharaoh's palace.

    Joseph said to his brothers, 'I am Joseph. Is my father really still alive?' His brothers could not answer him, they were so dumbfounded at seeing him.

Genesis 46: 1-4

So Israel set out with all his possessions. Arriving at Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. God spoke to Israel in a vision at night, ‘Jacob, Jacob,’ he said. ‘Here I am,’ he replied. ‘I am El, God of your father,’ he said. ‘Do not be afraid of going down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. I shall go down to Egypt with you and I myself shall bring you back again, and Joseph’s hand will close your eyes.’

                    is to be a family —

                To love
                To forgive
                To be brothers as God wants
                    us to be

                Brothers of love —

                It is because of the weakness
                    of those who hurt others
                    because of their woundedness
                    and giving into the deadly
                    sins —
                That men can suffer — because
                    others punish through
                    their ugliness, greed —
                    selfishness —

                God wants us to act in
                    right reason and
                    a will to obey our heavenly Father —

                Some have chosen great anger,
                    pride, selfishness,
                    hatred, envy, jealousy,
                    possessiveness and in
                    this when rebelling against
                    God's will — they can hurt
                    so many —

                Look at all who suffered because
                    of the sin of Adam and Eve —
                    The sin one man commits
                    can hurt so many —

                Likewise the good a man does
                    can help so many
