Prayer for Grace for our Country

Dear Father united to Jesus in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, the Sacrifice of Calvary sacramentally made present, celebrated around the world, in the Holy Spirit. We offer up all we do united to the Mass. We unite in one mind and one heart as members of the mystical body of Christ, with Christ our head in the pure and holy Hearts of Jesus and Mary, through the powerful intercession of Mary with all the angels and saints and souls in purgatory, and we beg for the saving grace, for our country, the United States. Please help us. We further pray for unity to always do the will of God in love. We spread the Blood of Jesus on the leaders and people of the United States and cast the devil into hell. We consecrate our country to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and all our dioceses, and beg for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. God help us. We pray for our families, the priests, the Church and the world. In the Name of Jesus please hear us, we pray. We pray for our president and leaders. We pray that we are united as one nation under God to work together in love as God wants.

                R. If a train goes off a track – it gets
back on the track to its destination.

If a person makes a wrong choice and
starts to live the consequences - they
must do what is necessary to try
to get on the right track again –
                destination being – eternal salvation.

God has a plan for our lives, He
wants us to follow the plan, but
if we get off and hurt our lives
and others – we need to ask God
for guidance to get back on
the path He wants for us.

Seek the Lord and He will be
                found –

                    Seek God –

Novena to the Infant of Prague
(to be prayed hourly if possible)

O Jesus, who said, "Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened to you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I knock, I seek, I ask that my prayer be granted.

O Jesus, who said, "All that you ask of the Father in My Name He will grant you," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I humbly and urgently ask Your Father in Your Name that my prayer be granted.

O Jesus, who said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall not pass," through the intercession of Mary, Your most holy Mother, I feel confident that my prayer will be granted.

                R. A machine operates on oil and
things it needs. We must take care
of our cars to run properly –
We have to take care of ourselves
                to run properly too.

Dear God we love You and
                thank You for the Eucharist
                and Church in China.

v

                R. Like Fr. Joe said yesterday –

We could not even realize all God
does for us and others do for us
if we tried to thank them –

God is good to us – He has given
us the Virgin Mary building –
He has given us the special
                Anniversary in December so
                we almost pray all Advent.
We have two events in Florida and
                one in China.

Isaiah 2: 1-5

The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

It will happen in the final days
that the mountain of Yahweh’s house
will rise higher than the mountains
and tower above the heights.
Then all the nations will stream to it,
many peoples will come to it and say,
‘Come, let us go up
    to the mountain of Yahweh,
to the house of the God of Jacob
that he may teach us his ways
so that we may walk in his paths.’
For the Law will issue from Zion
and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.

Then he will judge between the nations
and arbitrate between many peoples.
They will hammer their swords
    into ploughshares
and their spears into sickles.
Nation will not lift sword against nation,
no longer will they learn how to make war.

House of Jacob, come,
let us walk in Yahweh’s light.

Psalm 122: 1-9

I rejoiced that they said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of Yahweh.’
At last our feet are standing
    at your gates, Jerusalem!

Jerusalem, built as a city,
    in one united whole,
there the tribes go up,
    the tribes of Yahweh,
a sign for Israel to give thanks
    to the name of Yahweh.
For there are set the thrones of judgement,
the thrones of the house of David.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,
    prosperity for your homes!
Peace within your walls,
    prosperity in your palaces!

For love of my brothers and my friends
I will say, ‘Peace upon you!’
For love of the house of Yahweh our God
I will pray for your well–being.

Romans 13: 11-14

Besides, you know the time has come; the moment is here for you to stop sleeping and wake up, because by now our salvation is nearer than when we first began to believe. The night is nearly over, daylight is on the way; so let us throw off everything that belongs to the darkness and equip ourselves for the light. Let us live decently, as in the light of day; with no orgies or drunkenness, no promiscuity or licentiousness, and no wrangling or jealousy. Let your armour be the Lord Jesus Christ, and stop worrying about how your disordered natural inclinations may be fulfilled.

Matthew 24: 37-44

‘As it was in Noah’s day, so will it be when the Son of man comes. For in those days before the Flood people were eating, drinking, taking wives, taking husbands, right up to the day Noah went into the ark, and they suspected nothing till the Flood came and swept them all away. This is what it will be like when the Son of man comes. Then of two men in the fields, one is taken, one left; of two women grinding at the mill, one is taken, one left.

‘So stay awake, because you do not know the day when your master is coming. You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what time of the night the burglar would come, he would have stayed awake and would not have allowed anyone to break through the wall of his house. Therefore, you too must stand ready because the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

2nd Major Message from God the Father

January 18, 1997

Message given through Rita Ring

God the Father: My Dear Children,

I am the Father. My plan is unfolding through you, My beloved priest, Fr. Carter, and Rita and the core group in the Shepherds of Christ Movement.

I tell you all to read the accounts concerning Noah.

Nowhere in history has God been offended as He is this day by this sinful world. You will suffer a fate for the offenses against God. Mary appeared at Fatima to warn you, the sinful children, how they were offending God, but you did not listen. The war did not change the hearts of many evil men.

I warn you through My beloved daughter, Mary. You did not heed her warnings. Disobedience against the Mother I gave you displeases Me greatly. Mary is the Mother of all children. Mary is a gift from Me, but you are willful and abuse the gift I send you.

You do not make reparation to her Immaculate Heart; you continue to offend her. I will not tolerate the deeds of evil men any longer.

My plan will unfold. Any disobedience to these messages given by Me, My Son, or your Mother Mary will cause Me great displeasure.

I am the Father, the Almighty God, the Alpha, the Omega; you are a sinful people, a chosen race sinning against a loving God.

I am angered at your ways for they are not My ways, you have run amuck, you have offended your God, you have disobeyed your Mother and My beloved Son who died to save you.

I will act on all who continue in such sin. The sheep will be separated from the goats; the goats will receive punishment for their deed. Heaven and earth will kiss, there will be love in all hearts, justice will prevail and My children will be children of light, children that obey as I intended from the beginning. Oh indeed My sweet messenger, I look to the earth and see the darkness, I see the disobedience of men against their Mother. I know the deeds committed and the evil in the hearts of so many. Justice will prevail and I will wipe out the earth. Only the children of light will remain, those who have given their hearts to their Mother Mary.

Do you think I send your Mother Mary as a messenger to be disobeyed by willful children? What do you think about at night, the cat, the dog, the fish? You don’t know love. You don’t love God or one another. This is My command to you, to love. You are a sinful, willful race, and the devil will vanish from the hearts of the children of light for they will be under the protection of her Immaculate Heart, the other children will be wiped off the face of the earth.

Disobey My messenger, ignore your Mother, ignore the Son in these messages. Ignore My Son who died for you. Oh you sinful people filled with pride and disobedience, I give you the directions here to turn your hearts to love. My Son has revealed Himself as never before in history into His tremendous love for men and you treat Our gift with such indifference.

I am angered at the lack of support to spread the messages of My Son’s love for all.

You worry for funds, worry more, I am God the Father, the Almighty God. You disobeyed Mary, you disobeyed Jesus, now you will disobey Me?

You must obey My directions, the directions given through My Son, Jesus for the unfolding of the Father’s plan. No longer will I wait while willful men check and deliberate and disobey.

My plan will unfold through the Shepherds of Christ Movement.

I am talking through these messages given by My Son and Mary to tell you how to accomplish this task of carrying out My plan.

You must obey. The directions are given in these messages to spread the fire of God’s love across this earth, to renew the Church and the world.

Because of willful men these messages have been held in check.

I am God, the maker of all things. You have made money your god. I want obedience, the funds will come when you obey all of the directions I have given to you.

Anyone who interferes with these messages will be removed.

These are the messages I give to the world. Fr. Carter’s newsletter will teach the priests, all they need to know to be holy, loving priests.

Many priests are not loving, they are cold in their hearts. I will instruct the clergy through the newsletter.

My Son is the Chief Priest and Teacher. He has taught the world the secrets of His Heart through the writings of Fr. Carter and Rita, to go to men to check the value of these writings displeases Me.

You must have faith, you must study the entire revelations given here. You are not valuing My great gift to you.

I am the power, I am God, to the ends of the earth, I will be with you. My plan will unfold. You must think big, not on a human level. You must come to Me.

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I am telling you to circulate the tape of January 13 (1997) as soon as possible. This tape must be released to the world. It is the message to go with the apparition on the building in Florida.

You must make every connection with Mary’s message given December 12 (1996) and the messages given by Mary with the apparition of her on the building in Florida.

Time is very short and My patience is very thin. I will strike the earth and the evil men will scatter and there will be a reign of peace where men will love God as I intended. The evil men will be chastised for I sent your Mother to warn you and you disobeyed. I gave My Son as a sacrifice and you treated Him with indifference. I am angry at the creatures on this earth. I will lessen the chastisement if you make reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Oh willful children, you disobey your Mother, you are unloving and willful and your ways are evil. You are a sinful race.

I am sending water, rain to quench your thirst, My beloved children of light; I am sending fire to burn the fields for the sinful children, they will suffer drought and will fall to the ground dead, they will know fire, they will know the wrath of God. For I speak and I am ignored.

I am using the Shepherds of Christ Movement to majorly carry out the plan begun at Fatima. Every day lost is a lost day. I give to you Rosaries from the Hearts of Jesus and Mary as your directions to help the plan unfold. Circulate these rosaries to all chapters and stress their importance.

The tape of January 13 (1997) is important to the world. The tape must be circulated with the apparition in Florida and the messages typed and put on the Internet with the rest of the messages I have given. The connection must be made between the apparition and the Shepherds of Christ Movement. Satan will attack you strongly, he will create division and give messages through other visionaries to get you off coarse. You must obey My directions given in these messages to help bring about the completion of the Fatima message.

I will weed out anyone interfering with My plan. I will tell you when you have deviated from My plan, do not taunt My messenger, this displeases Me. Read the messages for direction and obey them.

The directions given are strong to correct a sick world. You must quit focusing on the messenger and obey Me.

I am the Father, these are My messages to bring about the reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the triumph of Mary’s Immaculate Heart.

You think of money and miss the gift given. You are men bolted to the earth. You must obey Me. I have all the power. end of excerpt

1st Sunday of Advent

November 27, 2016

INTRODUCTION – (Isaiah 2,1-5; Romans 13,11-14; Matthew 24,37-44) The prophet Isaiah, whom we hear in today’s first reading, lived over 700 years before Christ. He is prophesizing about Jerusalem; that Jerusalem would become the most important place in the world - the place from which God’s word would spread; the place where all the nations of the world would come together and form a bond of unity such that there would be peace everywhere in the world. It is probable that he had recently witnessed the destruction of the northern kingdom of Israel by the Assyrians - fierce warriors who came from what is modern day Iraq.

The Jewish citizens who lived in the southern kingdom, surrounding the city of Jerusalem, lived in fear and trembling that the same fate awaited them. But Isaiah sees a bright future for Jerusalem. It is here that we connect with the gospel. Jesus tells us this future peace and glory is linked to his second coming. It is a peaceful future that the world longs to see.

HOMILY – Just a few weeks ago, on my 79th birthday, I kept asking myself, “how did I get so old so quickly.” Time does go quickly; I’ve heard this said by many older people, “the older we get, the faster time goes by.” For instance, it seems to me that it was just yesterday when everyone was worried about the year 2000.

When the clock struck midnight and the ball dropped, all the data in all the computers in the world would be lost or destroyed.

Today we are starting a new Church year as we begin again the liturgical season we call Advent. As I said earlier, Advent means coming and although we are preparing to celebrate the coming into the world of our Savior, Jesus the Christ, we all need to be reminded that it’s not just his coming as a little baby that we are preparing for.

The key words for today are “preparing for his future coming.” There are very few things in life that are of value or importance that we can successfully avoid preparing for. I could never count all the tests I’ve had to prepare for in my lifetime; how embarrassing it was when I wasn’t prepared. If a person plays sports, they prepare by exercise and practice and by taking good care of themselves. If we plan to get married or buy a house or get a job or move to a different city or whatever, don’t we have to approach such events seriously and thoughtfully and analyze with the information we have whether we are making a wise move?

Most of us will be super busy in the next few weeks preparing to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Why is it then that we place little emphasis on preparing for his second coming? I guess it’s because it hasn’t happened yet, and in the minds of almost everyone, unless we see the sun and moon and stars actually falling from the sky, we figure it’s something we do not have to worry about.

Jesus, however, is telling us today that it is important for us to be ready for his coming, whenever that might be. Jesus uses the example of Noah’s ark to impress on us that we better be prepared. In Noah’s day, the people were unprepared for the flood which came so quickly, and they perished. People were in the midst of their everyday activities and, in an instant, it was all over for them. Jesus uses another example too: a robbery. A robber doesn’t leave a warning at a person’s house or business before he or she breaks in. So, Jesus says: “you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”

How can we be ready? I suggest we ask ourselves what we would do if somehow we found out for sure that Christ was to return to earth in his second coming before this year came to an end. Perhaps we would spend a little more time in prayer, or reading the gospels, or going to confession, or coming to Holy Hour or morning Mass during the week, or doing some charitable works. Maybe if we can’t think of anything special to do, we could ask our Lord for a suggestion, then quietly wait for an answer.

I would like to take a second to look at the second coming from a different perspective. Have you ever thought that maybe we are the reason that his second coming is so long delayed? For example, when we are forgiven, or we forgive someone else, Christ’s kingdom of peace is in a small way touching our lives.

When we do a kind act for a neighbor, friend or relative, again, we sense Christ’s kingdom at work in our world. This time of the year is a busy time and before we know it Christmas will be here and gone. While the children are asking “is it here yet,” we’ll be asking ourselves, “how did Christmas get here so fast.” Amen.

From Rita Robinson Ring,
Co-founder of Shepherds of Christ

God has chosen us, we are to turn to Christ with greater generosity, and as baptized Christians to grow in our knowing and loving capacity.

God has put His handprint on us in baptism giving to us the virtues of faith, hope and love. These are theological virtues. We must pray to God for the increase in these virtues and we respond to the grace He outpours to us. In praying for the increase in faith we can see more and more the vision of the Heavenly Father. We can hope for our eternal salvation and help spread that hope in our lives to others and we can share more deeply in God’s loving activity – loving more supernaturally as we cooperate by responding to the gifts given by God of greater faith, hope and love.

God is with us, God wants us to spread the good news, to turn toward Him in loving union performing good acts according to His will.

Fr. Joe’s book teaches us about love and life in God. Fr. Joe’s book teaches us about the gift of the Mass and the Church, and about salvation history. We live more every day according to the scriptures in peace, love and joy. We know Jesus, we love Him. He is operating in us.

We all seek happiness – Happiness is found in God –

In reading the weekly scriptures and reading Fr. Joe’s homily – God’s loving self-communication to us will grow in our lives – as we respond in love to Him.

This book and the scripture come alive in our lives every Sunday after we read the scriptures and Fr. Joe’s homily before Mass.

God communicates His own life through grace and man in return gives himself to God and his fellowman in loving service.

Happiness comes to us in dying to those ways not likened to God and rising in the spiritual life in that image and likeness of Christ.

We love Fr. Joe’s jokes that help us to clear our minds and laugh and listen.

He told me of a little boy who was drawing a picture in art class and the teacher said “Who is this?” And the little boy said, “It is God.”

The teacher said, “Nobody knows what God looks like.” The little boy said, “When I get done – they will know.”

In baptism we have been given a sharing in God’s life with this elevated knowing and loving capacity.

It is up to us to pray to God for the grace to grow to know and love Him more – to be more and more likened to God.

In the pages of Fr. Joe’s homilies we learn more and more about God, about loving God and loving others as ourselves – God is love – God is the source of love – We are to Respond to God’s love.

Excerpt from Response to God’s Love by Fr. Edward Carter, S.J.

“... In reference to Christianity, God himself is the ultimate mystery. Radically, God is completely other and transcendent, hidden from man in his inner life, unless he chooses to reveal himself. Let us briefly look at this inner life of God.

The Father, in a perfect act of self-expression, in a perfect act of knowing, generates his son. The Son, the Word, is, then, the immanent expression of God’s fullness, the reflection of the Father. Likewise, from all eternity, the Father and the Son bring forth the Holy Spirit in a perfect act of loving.

At the destined moment in human history, God’s self-expression, the Word, immersed himself into man’s world. God’s inner self-expression now had also become God’s outer self-expression. Consequently, the mystery of God becomes the mystery of Christ. In Christ, God tells us about himself, about his inner life, about his plan of creation and redemption. He tells us how Father, Son, and Holy Spirit desire to dwell within us in the most intimate fashion, how they wish to share with us their own life through grace. All this he has accomplished and does accomplish through Christ. St. Paul tells us: “I became a minister of this Church through the commission God gave me to preach among you his word in its fullness, that mystery hidden from ages and generations past but now revealed to his holy ones. God has willed to make known to them the glory beyond price which this mystery brings to the Gentiles—the mystery of Christ in you, your hope of glory. This is the Christ we proclaim while we admonish all men and teach them in the full measure of wisdom, hoping to make every man complete in Christ” (Col 1:25-28).”

Excerpts from Guiding Light – Feed My Soul

p. 111 When Jesus said the two greatest commandments were about love: love of God and love of neighbor, the Jewish scholar asked Jesus another question: “And who is my neighbor?” You might recall that there was great animosity between Jews and Samaritans, so in introducing a Samaritan into the story, Jesus shows us “neighbor” could be anyone, even someone we despise.

p. 51 The conversation Jesus had about tragic events at the beginning of today’s gospel was interesting. Sometimes people think when something bad happens to someone it is God’s punishment. Jesus said that’s not always true. He does not try to explain suffering here, but he is telling us not to be complacent, which we sometimes are. We can’t think “well, if nothing bad is happening to me, it must be because I am so good.” He tells us we all need to repent, i.e., to work to be better than we are.

pp. 29-30 As we celebrate Jesus’ baptism, may we at the same time celebrate our own. May we rejoice in God’s gift of love and life given to us, and may we live up to the high dignity with which God has blessed us.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-11

There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven:

A time for giving birth,
a time for dying;
a time for planting,
a time for uprooting what has been planted.
A time for killing,
a time for healing;
a time for knocking down,
a time for building.
A time for tears,
a time for laughter;
a time for mourning,
a time for dancing.
A time for throwing stones away,
a time for gathering them;
a time for embracing,
a time to refrain from embracing.
A time for searching,
a time for losing;
a time for keeping,
a time for discarding.
A time for tearing,
a time for sewing;
a time for keeping silent,
a time for speaking.
A time for loving,
a time for hating;
a time for war,
a time for peace.

What do people gain from the efforts they make? I contemplate the task that God gives humanity to labour at. All that he does is apt for its time; but although he has given us an awareness of the passage of time, we can grasp neither the beginning nor the end of what God does.

                (7) God didn't put us down here
                    willy-nilly –
                    We are called –

                (8) Only one thing is important:
                    eternal salvation.

                (9) Luke 1: 39-56

Mary set out at that time and went as quickly as she could into the hill country to a town in Judah. She went into Zechariah’s house and greeted Elizabeth. Now it happened that as soon as Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the child leapt in her womb and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She gave a loud cry and said, ‘Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. Why should I be honoured with a visit from the mother of my Lord? Look, the moment your greeting reached my ears, the child in my womb leapt for joy. Yes, blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled.’

And Mary said:

My soul proclaims
    the greatness of the Lord
and my spirit rejoices
    in God my Saviour;
because he has looked upon
    the humiliation of his servant.
Yes, from now onwards
all generations will call me blessed,
for the Almighty
has done great things for me.
Holy is his name,
and his faithful love extends age after age
    to those who fear him.
He has used the power of his arm,
he has routed the arrogant of heart.
He has pulled down princes
    from their thrones
        and raised high the lowly.
He has filled the starving with good things,
    sent the rich away empty.
He has come to the help
    of Israel his servant,
        mindful of his faithful love
—according to the promise
    he made to our ancestors—
of his mercy to Abraham
and to his descendants for ever.

Mary stayed with her some three months and then went home.

                (10) Nothing is impossible with God.

                The Nativity

                (1) Sing: Away in a Manger

                (2) Sing: Silent Night

                (3) December 19, 1996

Mary: My dear children, I give to you, my Son, Jesus, born in a stable in Bethlehem on Christmas morn. He is the Almighty God, the Light of the World.

I appear to you, my children, on a (former) bank in Florida. You have made money your god! Do you know how cold are your hearts? You turn away from my Son, Jesus, for your money. Your money is your god.

I am Mary, your Mother. I do not appear as I once appeared to you. I am asking you today to circulate my message given on a tape on the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12, 1996. Please circulate this tape now. Give it to as many people as you can. I am Mary, your Mother. Please circulate my Rosary Book.  end of December 19, 1996

                (4) Mary's Message - from the Rosary of August 27, 1996

Mary:  I stood beneath the cross of my Son, and my Heart was in such pain for I saw Him before my eyes. I saw Him covered with blood. I saw Him die. My Heart, my children, my Heart to watch my Son, but my Heart, my Heart, how I suffered for my little children of the world that give in to this world and give up the love of my Son. O my little children of light, I give you this message. Carry this light into the darkness for your Mother Mary, for I stood beneath the cross and I cried. I cried for the little ones. I cried for the young ones, the ones that do not care and will lose their souls. How do I make you see for you will not listen to me? What can I do? I come. I appear. I beg. I plead. I give you these gifts from my Son, and you reject me. I do not deliver messages very often anymore for I have been ignored. The message is the same. You do not read the messages I have given to you. Please help me. Help the little children. I appear. I appear. I appear, and I am ignored. I stood beneath the cross, and I cried. I cried, and my Heart was in such anguish for my little children, for I am searching for them this day as I searched for the Child Jesus. Please, please help me. I cannot hold back the hand of my Son any longer. I am Mary, your Mother. I ask you to help my children. You are my children of light.  end of Mary's Message

Excerpt of Father Carter's Talk February 18, 2000

...I think all of you here at China give a great witness to life of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Nazareth and to the birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem. Your life is so simple. It is so hidden and yet like the life of Jesus at Nazareth, it is meant to be redemptive. His life certainly was redemptive those first 33 years of His existence. And I think I said in a homily to you some months ago, that if we had it to plan we certainly would have arranged, I’m sure all of us, Jesus’ life here on earth differently. I don’t think in the depths of our heart if we’re honest with ourselves, if the Father says, “you map out the way you think Jesus, My Son, should live here below in the time allotted,” who of us, who of us would have had Him hidden away for 10/11ths of that mortal life span. We would have given much more time to His public life. And here Jesus under the Father teaches us a great lesson—that we share in His redemptive efforts proportionate to the depth of our love and as that life of love is supported by faith and hope so Jesus takes the most humble places and He takes the most simple living people and He uses those simple places and those simple people to accomplish great things. So glory in your existence here at China, in its hiddenness and ask for the faith to realize more and more the great good you are doing for the Movement and the Church and the world.

...And so your life here at China is in such great imitation of Jesus, Mary and Joseph at Nazareth and such great saints as St. Therese of Lisieux, those saints who lived such a hidden existence. And so first of all I thank you for persevering in this life. I think I have some more than ordinary insight into the greatness you are contributing towards the Movement and the Church and the world. So I thank you very profusely and I also highly encourage you to persevere in this life and to pray for the grace to get a deepened insight into just how great your life is here at China for the cause of Christ....

So in summary, thank you for persevering in your life here. Secondly, pray for a deepened insight into the greatness of your life here, what it means for the Church, the Movement and the world. And thirdly, pray for a great sense of joy for the vocation, the calling Jesus has given you, at least at this time of your life, to your life here in China. end of Father Carter's Talk

                (5) Luke 2: 25-34

Now in Jerusalem there was a man named Simeon. He was an upright and devout man; he looked forward to the restoration of Israel and the Holy Spirit rested on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not see death until he had set eyes on the Christ of the Lord. Prompted by the Spirit he came to the Temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the Law required, he took him into his arms and blessed God; and he said:

    Now, Master, you are letting
        your servant go in peace
    as you promised;
for my eyes have seen the salvation
    which you have made ready
        in the sight of the nations;
a light of revelation for the gentiles
and glory for your people Israel.

As the child’s father and mother were wondering at the things that were being said about him, Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, ‘Look, he is destined for the fall and for the rise of many in Israel, destined to be a sign that is opposed—

                (6) The Seven Sorrows - February 22, 1995

1. The Prophecy of Simeon
Mary, Joseph and the child Jesus went to the temple. Simeon, the prophet, inspired by the Holy Spirit, met them and told Joseph and Mary of the great sufferings of Jesus and Mary. He told Mary that a sword would pierce her heart. From that point on, Mary ever remembered the prophecy of Simeon whenever she beheld her child. When she looked at His little body, even as an infant, she knew He would suffer. Every time she clothed Him and watched Him at play, her heart was torn in her chest as she knew what He would suffer. And a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary!

2. The Flight into Egypt
Joseph was told by the angel to flee. Joseph, Mary and the child Jesus had to flee because of what might happen to Jesus. They had to pack for a long stay. The child Jesus was so small! They left on their journey, hearts full of fear, trying to protect Jesus. They were forced to flee into Egypt.

(7) The Seven Sorrows - February 22, 1995

3. Jesus Is Lost, In the Temple
Imagine the sufferings in Mary's heart when she realized the child Jesus was not with them. Think of how it would be to lose your child and not know where he was or if anything happened to him. With sorrow in their hearts, Mary and Joseph returned to Jerusalem to look for the child Jesus. And a sword, too, shall pierce your heart, O Mary!

4. Jesus Carries His Cross
Song: See the eyes that look at Mary, her tender infant child. See the child's Heart beat so tenderly, the Savior of the world!
See the eyes of Jesus and Mary as they met on Calvary. Mary's Heart knew Jesus' Heart so well! From the first moment of conception and throughout His life, Mary was so connected with Jesus and now she peered into His eyes. The crown of thorns adorned His Head! Blood ran down His face! A heavy cross on His back! Wounded, His whole body covered with bleeding wounds! And her whole life flashed before her, the life that she had spent with Jesus. This was the beloved child that she had held in her arms when Simeon told Mary that 'a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary!'

               (8) The Seven Sorrows - February 22, 1995

5. Jesus Dies on the Cross
Mary stood under Jesus' cross as He was put to death. The child that she had held in her arms as Simeon prophesied, And a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary! Now Jesus is dead on the cross! He gave His flesh, He gave His blood so that we might be with Him forever in heaven. He held not back. He gave His all. He calls out to us this day to see through the eyes of His mother as she appears and calls out with a Heart of great love, "Return to the love of my Son! He is with you this day. He remains with you, no less present than the day that He hung on the cross, in the Eucharist. He longs for you to come and be with Him. He is in your brother. How can you not love your brother when Jesus died for your brother?"

Her Heart was pierced with a sword. His Heart was pierced with a lance. What came forth was blood and water, the sacramental life of the church. He lives with us this day in the Church. He gives to us His sacraments, the source of His life! He gives to us the Sacrament of Penance whereby any sin that we commit can be taken away through the priest. He wants us to be so close to Him! He gives us everything to be close to Him. But we see with such limited vision only those things that are right before our face, when the true reality is that which we don't see with our eyes, the reality of the invisible divinity of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in the consecrated Host! This is reality! This is our life! This is our power! This is God! And a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary!

               (9) The Seven Sorrows - February 22, 1995

6. Jesus Is Taken Down from the Cross
If we ever doubted for one second that we were loved, we could visualize the picture of Mary as she sat beneath the cross with the lifeless, battered, bruised and bloodied body of her Son in her arms, the same child that she held when Simeon prophesied her suffering. He gave His last breath. He gave the last beat of His Heart. He gave His all! This is the way He complied with the Will of the Father. He came to show us the way. He died in perfect peace. To His death He was in peace because He knew the Father's love. The Father loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son for love of us! The Spirit descended upon the Virgin Mary and the Word was made flesh! The love of the Two Hearts! Such immense love beating for us!

In all love there is suffering. Her Heart was pierced with a sword. His Heart was pierced with a lance. And a sword, too, shall pierce your Heart, O Mary!

               (10) The Seven Sorrows - February 22, 1995

7. Jesus Is Locked in the Tomb
And now Jesus, His body lifeless, is locked in a tomb! What cold reality for Mary to realize that His body is now gone! A stone separated her from her Son!

He gave His last breath! He gave the last beat of His Heart for love of each one of us! And she comes to us this day with her sweet, beautiful voice and she asks us to go to her Son and love Him! How can we refuse Jesus who spread His arms and gave His life for each and every one of us? How can we not trust Him when He loved us so much that He allowed them to tear His flesh, to crown Him with piercing thorns and, lastly, to hang Him on a cross? He truly gave His life for us! He, truly God, is with us this day, the same as the day He died on the cross, in the tabernacle! And we take it so lightly! Death has no power over Him! Locked in the tomb for three days, He rose triumphant on the third day as He had foretold. He comes to give us life. He gives us the sacrament of Baptism that initiates us into His life, that makes us children of God and heirs of heaven if we remain in the state of grace. He asks two things: love of God and love of one another! He came to show us the way and His way is love. To His death on the cross He loved each one of us! He calls out to each one of us here today to be His soldiers, to march on a world that has forgotten God, that has forgotten what it is like to love! It is a battle to live in this world. But the battle is won with hearts that are filled with His love, empowered by the grace and might that He pours out in the Eucharist. He calls out for us to come to the Eucharist and to the tabernacle and be fed with His very flesh and blood. To feed on Divine Life, the greatest nourishment, the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God! This is the love He gives. This is the love He asks us to share.

Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year (2011/2012)
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Reflect on the Word — Cycle B     The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light homily series — Steadfast to the Son — Cycle A    The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Focusing on the Word — Cycle B    At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Litugical Year
$ 10.00

Guiding Light — Feed My Soul — Cycle C    In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Priestly Newsletter — 2000 #1 — CD.Christ is Our Strength — Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our—selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
