For a $500 donation we will give you the gift of the 12" Guadalupe Statue with glass from Mary's image face and you will help 500 priests in the United States get Fr. Joe's homily book.

In these trying times in the United States preceding the election, Jesus has asked us to circulate the Priestly Writing, Fr. Joe's homily book focusing on the Word and the Eucharist with the Shepherds of Christ prayers in the back of the book. The only thing that will help to renew the Church and the world is following the commandments and the Father's Plan. Please help us send this book to the United States priests.

Jesus: I love you — I want you to
                know the sweetness of My
love. I give you My Blue Book
Letters of Love to help you live
in this love, as the Father
                intends you to live.

So much beauty I give you,
today — in My sunny state of
                Florida, surrounded by the
                beautiful blue waters.

                    God the Father wants My
                Blue Book Messages given
                from My Building in Clearwater,
                Florida —

I give you the Blue Skies
over Florida for My letters of
Love are given in Blue Books.
Blue Skies - not gray, but
                beautiful —
                Blue Waters so beautiful
                surround this state where
                My Mother appeared in
                radiant colors to deliver
My letters of love to the hurting,
sick world, in need of the
                Mighty Medicine —

Jesus: I am Jesus, I come with
My Heart on fire for love of
you. I give you these letters
so your hearts will be on
fire for My love — So you will
run and not grow weary —
So you will soar on eagle's
wings into the Blue Skies —
So you will see - the way to
see is through the eyes of
God the Father, to be obedient,
to do His will — to give as God
                desires —

The rule of your life is to be
under God — obedient to God's will —
                seeking His will, loving His
                will, wanting His will —

                    The devil wants to move
                in and get you focused
                on what others are doing
                against God's will around you.
In all things - seek God's will
for your life. The devil comes
in dark skies, to control, to
                get the focus.

Say — "Oh God, I come to
do Your will" And do it —
The Blue Skies are there, but
satan can color the day through
                the darkness and disobedience
                of others.

                    To be reconciled, when you
have hurt God and others — to
                seek reconciliation — mending
                the ruptured relationship with
the truth. The devil is the father
of lies, as long as one does not
admit the truth he can remain
in that sin and do it again —
                humility is truth —
admitting the good in you and
thanking God for the grace to do
good, to obey God's will, to do
your actions to love, to have
                relationships in your vocation
                as God desires.

                    Let your hearts not be
troubled — Give to all what is
their just due — Honor and
praise God — use your tongue
to praise God, to serve God, to
                speak the truth —

                    Evil lurks in the hearts
                of men — now communication
is done on the e-mails —
                things said — dishonorably,
that look like kind words —

I give you a tongue to use
to love — I come on the tongue —
                I am a Person —
I came to this earth a Person —
I give you grace when you
receive Me in the Eucharist —
                    truly present in My Divinity
                    and humanity —

You can ignore the person and
                    send communication without
                    response, feelings, love,
                    the tongue and ignore the
                    fact —
                    My Movement exists for union
                    in the hearts —

                Love as one body —
                Love as members of My
                    body the Church —

I am truly present in the
                    Eucharist, I dwell in
                    the graced baptized
                    soul —

I want union of person —

God the Creator gives a baby
to a man and a woman,
                    conceived because
                    of physical relations
                    between a man and a
                    woman I designed in
                    the sacrament of Marriage.

                Now people can have sex
                    without even knowing
                    someone —
cold, against the Father's will —

Love in uniting in the Heart,
                    My Heart, My Mother's Heart,
                    Communication —
                    Interaction —
                    Commitment
                    Response —

                Giving — loving - doing
                    the heavenly Father's
                    will in love —

There are 3 Person in one God
                    in the Trinity —

The devil wants to take the
                    persons out of relationships —
do it your own way, the devil says,
do it with no response (isolated) —
                    ruptured relationships —
                    unaccountability for sins —

I came to this earth —
                I gave Myself —

You are to be reconciled yourself
to God and others for your
                    sins —

                Union, forgiveness, accountability —

The smallest sin is an offense
                    against oneself, God, others,
                    the community

                You are accountable for
                    your sins.

                Relationship is commitment —

God shows us this in the
                    Covenants He made
                    with men —

                Covenants are agreements
                    between peoples —
                    I am your God —
                    You are My people —

                Interaction

                Abraham showed faith in
                    being willing to sacrifice
                    his son —

                God promised him descendants
                    as numerous as the
                    stars of the sky —
                    because of his faith

                Forcing yourself through
                    electronic communication
                    on others is not
                    dealing with persons —
                    unity — love —
                    (in business this may be
                    acceptable)

                R. Love is person centered —
                    Response to God's love who
                        loved us first — means
                        we want relationship
                        with God —

The Blue Books tell us about
                    relationships with God and
                    others and ourselves —
                    God doesn't say —
                    do what you want —
                    then send an e-mail telling
me what your will is —

                Relationship respects the dignity
of others — to work with
                    others as persons God
                    created —

                Authority has the right in
                    orders to enforce the
                    rule of the community —

                The rule is rooted in
                    poverty, chastity and obedience —

                The rule demands commitment
                    to one's vocation —
                    not rebellion against
                    the rules of the
                    institution

                God created an orderly,
                    harmonious world —

                The man or woman moving
                    ahead, doing their own
                    things, forcing their will and
                    behavior on others —
                    being stiff and demanding is
not knowing the rule of Jesus —
                    following Jesus —
being like the person Jesus —
                    operating with others and modeling
                        their relationships on the
                        oneness of the Trinity —

The Trinity is 3 Persons in
                    one God —

To help renew the Church we
                    are to have people in
                    relationship, loving God
                    and others —
                    Being filled up by Jesus,
                        truly present in the
                        Eucharist, who remains
                        with us — truly present
                        in His Divinity and
                        humanity —

Jesus shows us the way —

Excerpt from Response to God's Love by Fr. Edward J. Carter, S.J.

Chapter 6 - The Christian and Church (excerpt)

Grace, or the Christ-life, is a created participation in Trinitarian life. This Christ-life, consequently, calls us to a special existence of knowing and loving. Christian faith and love, which are created participations in the Trinity's knowing and loving, allow us to know and love God in a special manner. Faith and love also give us a new capacity to relate to both our fellow Christians and to all others as well.

Because the life of the Trinity is person-centered, so must the life of the Christian community be person-centered. For many years, it seems, we were not sufficiently person-conscious; however, the theology that has emanated from Vatican II is helping to rectify this situation. In the pre-Vatican II Church, structures in the Church were occasionally treated as ends in themselves rather than as the means of serving the persons in the Church. Slowly but surely, structures in the Church are being renewed so that they might better serve their true purpose, which is to aid in the ongoing development of her members.

The Christian community, in turn, develops when those who make up that community develop as authentic Christians. Just as each divine person contributes perfectly to the community life of the Trinity according to the perfect fullness of his personhood, so each Christian contributes to community life in proportion to the degree of his or her personal development.

Authentic interpersonal relationships help to develop community. The Trinitarian community is a community of profound relationships. Because we reflect Trinitarian community, we are intended to have relationships not only with the persons of the Trinity, but likewise with one another. Authentic interpersonal relationships not only unite in a deeper knowledge and love the persons directly involved, they also make a person more capable of loving others more deeply and, therefore, more capable of deepening the bonds of total community. If a person is growing in the capacity to love his or her friends, for example, that person is concurrently growing in the capacity to also love others—both those who are members of the Church and those who are not.

Prayer for Union with Jesus

Come to me, Lord, and possess my soul. Come into my heart and permeate my soul. Help me to sit in silence with You and let You work in my heart.

I am Yours to possess. I am Yours to use. I want to be selfless and only exist in You. Help me to spoon out all that is me and be an empty vessel ready to be filled by You. Help me to die to myself and live only for You. Use me as You will. Let me never draw my attention back to myself. I only want to operate as You do, dwelling within me.

I am Yours, Lord. I want to have my life in You. I want to do the will of the Father. Give me the strength to put aside the world and let You operate my very being. Help me to act as You desire. Strengthen me against the distractions of the devil to take me from Your work.

When I worry, I have taken my focus off of You and placed it on myself. Help me not to give in to the promptings of others to change what in my heart You are making very clear to me. I worship You, I adore You and I love You. Come and dwell in me now.

-God's Blue Book, January 17, 1994

A Prayer for Intimacy with the Lamb, the Bridegroom of the Soul

Oh Lamb of God, Who take away the sins of the world, come and act on my soul most intimately. I surrender myself, as I ask for the grace to let go, to just be as I exist in You and You act most intimately on my soul. You are the Initiator. I am the soul waiting Your favors as You act in me. I love You. I adore You. I worship You. Come and possess my soul with Your Divine Grace, as I experience You most intimately.

               Spiritual Communion

Dear Jesus — we want to make a spiritual
                        communion, we cannot receive You
now, but we want to know Your
presence deep in our heart —
deep in our soul — Oh God fill us
with Your presence that we can
just focus on You and Your love
for us now — Love deep in us —
                        Oneness with You —
Quiet surrender to be alone in
this moment with You in our heart
                        in deep love —
We love You so much our beloved
                        God —

                R. Jesus says in the Song from Jesus
                    I come to you —
                    God comes to us —
                    The Divine Almighty God came
                        into the world —
                    God comes to us —

Jesus - a Divine Person with
                    two natures —

God loves us so much —

John 3: 16

For this is how God loved the world:
he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
    may not perish
but may have eternal life.

                R. Jesus says: Blue Book I

                    I am a Person —

                Jesus is truly present in
                    His Divinity and humanity
                    in the Eucharist —

                Jesus comes to us —

                Jesus is God —

Jesus took on a baby body —

                Jesus takes on human flesh
                    to communicate
                    with us —

Jesus is the Divine God —

                Jesus remains truly present
                    in the Eucharist —
                    Jesus comes to us in
                    His Divinity and humanity and
                    enters our body on our
                    tongue —

We are to serve God with
                    our tongue —
                The doorway to our
                    heart —

Our heart is to be open —

                Our mouth, our tongue
                    praising Him —
                    following Jesus'
                    example —

Sing: One Bread, One Body —

                Song: I Love You Jesus

                R. Song speaks of Him coming
                    into us —
                    such presence,
                    such unity —

Songs from the Heart of Jesus —

Jesus: I give you Myself in
                    the Eucharist —
                    I come to you —
I remain in the Eucharist —
I wait for you in the tabernacle —

                R. God waits for man —

                Jesus wants our love —
Jesus wants us to come to Him —
Jesus wants us to obey just authority —
Jesus wants us to work in unity —

God made marriage as the way
                    man would procreate the
                    world —

Unity — love — persons so much
                    in love — they commit
                    themselves in marriage and
the two become one flesh —

                Mary's "yes" shows us commitment
                    in our vocation to say
                    "yes" in committing our life
in our vocation in serving God
                    as the Father intended —

Mary shows us how to be the perfect
                    handmaid of the Lord —

Joseph served Mary and Jesus —
Jesus is the Good Shepherd —
                Jesus came a servant

Isaiah 42: 1-4, 6-7

First song of the servant

Here is my servant whom I uphold,
my chosen one
    in whom my soul delights.
I have sent my spirit upon him,
he will bring fair judgement to the nations.
He does not cry out or raise his voice,
his voice is not heard in the street;
he does not break the crushed reed
or snuff the faltering wick.
Faithfully he presents fair judgement;
he will not grow faint,
    he will not be crushed
until he has established
    fair judgement on earth,
and the coasts and islands
    are waiting for his instruction.

I, Yahweh, have called you
    in saving justice,
I have grasped you by the hand
    and shaped you;
I have made you a covenant of the people
and light to the nations,
to open the eyes of the blind,
to free captives from prison,
and those who live in darkness
    from the dungeon.

Isaiah 49: 3, 5-6

Second song of the servant

He said to me, ‘Israel, you are my servant,
through whom I shall manifest my glory.’

And now Yahweh has spoken,
who formed me in the womb
    to be his servant,
to bring Jacob back to him
and to re–unite Israel to him;
—I shall be honoured in Yahweh’s eyes,
and my God has been my strength.—
He said, ‘It is not enough for you
    to be my servant,
to restore the tribes of Jacob
    and bring back the survivors of Israel;
I shall make you a light to the nations
so that my salvation may reach
    the remotest parts of earth.

Isaiah 50: 4-9

Third song of the servant

Lord Yahweh has given me
    a disciple’s tongue,
for me to know how to give
a word of comfort to the weary.
Morning by morning
    he makes my ear alert
to listen like a disciple.
Lord Yahweh has opened my ear
and I have not resisted,
I have not turned away.
I have offered my back
    to those who struck me,
my cheeks to those
    who plucked my beard;
I have not turned my face away
from insult and spitting.
Lord Yahweh comes to my help,
this is why insult has not touched me,
this is why I have set my face like flint
and know that I shall not
    be put to shame.
He who grants me saving justice is near!
Who will bring a case against me?
Let us appear in court together!
Who has a case against me?
Let him approach me!
Look, Lord Yahweh is coming
    to my help!
Who dares condemn me?
Look at them, all falling apart
like moth-eaten clothes

                R. When the Jews were slaves in Egypt
                    God called Moses —
He led them through the desert —
Eventually the Jews went to the Promised
                    Land without Moses —

They were sinful and weak morally and
couldn't fight off the Babylonians —

They had the Babylonian exile —

Finally God helped them to return —

Paul was charged in the second
                    reading of being "wishy-washy"
                    and he is defending himself
                    against these charges —

                Today's Readings

Isaiah 43: 18-19, 21-22, 24-25

No need to remember past events,
no need to think about
    what was done before.
Look, I am doing something new,
now it emerges; can you not see it?
Yes, I am making a road in the desert
and rivers in wastelands.

The people I have shaped for myself
will broadcast my praises.

But, Jacob, you have not invoked me;
no, Israel, you have grown weary of me.

You have not bought expensive reed
    for me
or sated me with the fat
    of your sacrifices.
Instead by your sins
you have treated me like a slave,
you have wearied me with your crimes,
I, I it is who blot out your acts of revolt
    for my own sake
and shall not call your sins to mind.

Psalm 41: 2-5, 13-14

Yahweh protects him, gives him life and happiness on earth.
Do not abandon him to his enemies’ pleasure!
Yahweh sustains him on his bed of sickness;
you transform altogether the bed where he lies sick.

For my part I said, 'Yahweh, take pity on me!
Cure me for I have sinned against you.'
My enemies speak to me only of disaster,
'When will he die and his name disappear?'

Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel,
    from eternity to eternity.
        Amen, Amen.

2 Corinthians 1: 18-22

As surely as God is trustworthy, what we say to you is not both Yes and No. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was proclaimed to you by us, that is, by me and by Silvanus and Timothy, was never Yes-and-No; his nature is all Yes. For in him is found the Yes to all God's promises and therefore it is 'through him' that we answer 'Amen' to give praise to God. It is God who gives us, with you, a sure place in Christ and has both anointed us and marked us with his seal, giving us as pledge the Spirit in our hearts.

Mark 2: 1-12

When he returned to Capernaum, some time later word went round that he was in the house; and so many people collected that there was no room left, even in front of the door. He was preaching the word to them when some people came bringing him a paralytic carried by four men, but as they could not get the man to him through the crowd, they stripped the roof over the place where Jesus was; and when they had made an opening, they lowered the stretcher on which the paralytic lay. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, ‘My child, your sins are forgiven.’ Now some scribes were sitting there, and they thought to themselves, ‘How can this man talk like that? He is being blasphemous. Who but God can forgive sins?’ And at once, Jesus, inwardly aware that this is what they were thinking, said to them, ‘Why do you have these thoughts in your hearts? Which of these is easier: to say to the paralytic, “Your sins are forgiven” or to say, “Get up, pick up your stretcher and walk”? But to prove to you that the Son of man has authority to forgive sins on earth’—he said to the paralytic—‘I order you: get up, pick up your stretcher, and go off home.’ And the man got up, and at once picked up his stretcher and walked out in front of everyone, so that they were all astonished and praised God saying, ‘We have never seen anything like this.’

                R. Mark has a way of giving us a few
concrete details that brings us right
                    to the scene —

Picture the house in the Gospel —
                    1 to 3 rooms
the roof was flat - mud - flat stones —
some would sleep on the roof on hot days —

It was a drastic way they opened the roof to
try to see Jesus — I would think
Jesus thought that the man needed to walk
and would heal this first —

                But Fr. Joe —
said - it makes a lot of sense —
                    Jesus forgave sins —
Jesus thought this man needed to be
                        healed in his relationship
                        with God —
before he was physically healed —

                In psychology —
                    refusing to forgive somebody who
has done something to us —
keeps us in a low form of
                        anger —
                    holding on to grudges —
We can see how mind and body effect each
                        other —

                Jesus forgave him physically and
                    spiritually —

The prideful men who think they
                    are experts about God —
don't like Jesus healing - who
                    is He, anyway —

They, in their pride, want to be over
                    everybody, Jesus included —
They don't want to change —

Our spirit, our body, our mind
                    interact —

In God's Kingdom we can see this
                    great gift —

God wants us whole and holy —

We can let go and let God lead us —
                    follow His example —
                    Love like Him

7th Sunday in Ordinary Time

February 20, 2000

INTRODUCTION – (Is 43:18-19, 21-22, 24b-25; 2 Cor 1:18-22; Mark 2:1-12) When the Jews entered the Promised Land, they entered a land already inhabited by a pagan people known as the Canaanites. The Canaanite worship was filled with superstition and immoral sensuality and was a constant temptation to the Israelites. In comparison to these pagan fertility rites, worship of Yahweh was dull and the people often grew weary of their own God. But their disloyalty to God and their neglect of the Ten Commandments sapped the nation’s strength and in their weakness they were eventually defeated by the Babylonians in 587 BC. Not only did the Babylonians defeat them, but they took most of their citizens into exile in the land of Babylon (which is Iraq today.) For almost 50 years God’s people remained as exiles. The prophet we hear from this morning was chosen by God to announce that their exile was about to come to an end. From the viewpoint of secular history this would occur through Persia’s destruction of Babylon and the decree of the king of Persia in 538 BC that the Jews free to return home. But through the eyes of the prophet who saw with eyes of faith, this was all God’s doing. God says, “See, I am doing something new.” This was so obvious to the prophet that he asks the people: “do you not perceive it?” Implicit in this return was the message that God was forgiving the past sins of his people. They had learned to turn back to God while they were in Babylon and now they would return home as a new people, their sins forgiven. When God forgives us he makes us a new person, a truth we also see in today’s gospel.

The second reading is a bit hard to understand, but it will make a little more sense if we realize Paul is defending himself against the charge of being wishy-washy.

HOMILY – The homes of people in Galilee were simple, probably not much bigger than a two car garage. Their roofs were flat, made of twigs and beaten earth or flat rocks supported by wooden beans. Sometimes they would sleep on the roof at night if it was too hot in the house. It would not have been too hard of a task to make a hole in the roof of the house where Jesus was. But making that hole and lowering their friend to a spot in front of Jesus certainly showed their determination to get the paralyzed man to Jesus. Jesus was always impressed with sincere and persistent faith. “Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, ‘Child, your sins are forgiven’. ”

It probably seems strange to most of us that Jesus began to heal the man by first forgiving his sins. The Jews believed that all suffering was caused by sin, but Jesus knew it was not true all the time. For example when Jesus and his apostles came upon a man born blind, he clearly said in that case no one sinned, neither the blind man nor his parents. But maybe the man in today’s gospel needed to be healed spiritually before he could be healed physically. There is a whole area of scientific study that has revealed how closely our spiritual, emotional and physical health are inter-connected. It is the study of psychoneuro-immunology; a word that describes how our mental and emotional health affects our immune system. Only God would have known if there were any necessary connection between sin and physical health in the case of the man in today’s gospel. At any rate I think there are two obvious things this gospel teaches us, first that Jesus came to destroy evil in all its forms, not just sickness, but sin, the devil, hatred, revenge, and all the other things that are destructive of God’s masterpiece of creation: the human person. God does want to make all things new, and the first step Jesus took in making this man a new person was to reconcile him with God. The second important lesson in today’s gospel is that Jesus has power to forgive sin. That’s not new to us, but it was shocking to them. That he was Son of God had not yet been revealed. The onlookers knew him as a very special man by his teachings and healings. Jesus himself identifies himself as “Son of Man.” And his miracle demonstrated to all who were there that this man had a power that was divine, a power not only to heal but to forgive sins. This was a power that he would later share with his apostles and with their successors. This was indeed something new.

I wonder what some of us would have said to Jesus if we were that paralyzed man lying before him. Would we have been grateful to have heard “Your sins are forgiven?” Would we have been happy to hear him say that? How many of us would have thought “is that all you have to offer?” When we had a healing service here with Fr. Rookey, almost two years ago, on a hot summer night, our church was packed and it lasted for three hours. And the same was true in two other churches we went to. I thought it was great, of course, and I’m glad so many came with faith asking for healing. But when we have a reconciliation service, we have maybe 35 or 40 people. Have people stopped committing sins? If that’s true I’m glad. I can’t claim to be that good. Or maybe we’re all much more worried about our physical health than we are about our spiritual health? There are many ways a person can be paralyzed other than being physically paralyzed: the lonely, the depressed, those bored with life, the addicted, the perennially angry and vengeful, and the ordinary person like you and I who still have areas of our lives that we struggle to open to God’s grace. What Jesus says to the man on the mat he says to us, rise, pick up your mat and walk! One of the most common laments I hear from people who feel paralyzed is that they can’t change. No one need be trapped not even by physical limitations. I hope I won’t bore you if I give you a few examples to show that limitations do not need to paralyze us. Helen Keller who was both deaf and blind came out of her shell and became a great inspiration to many. Woody Allen flunked motion picture production at New York University, Lucille Ball was told by the head of the John Murray Anderson Drama School, “Try any other profession, any other.” In 1962 four young nervous musicians played for the executives of Decca Recording Co. While turning down this rock group who called themselves the Beatles, one executive said, “We don’t like their sound. Groups of guitars are on the way out.” When Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone in 1876, and he made a demonstration call to the President Rutherford Hayes, the president said: “That’s an amazing invention, but who would ever want to use one of them?” One of Thomas Edison’s teachers in Port Huron complained about him that he was ‘too slow.’ John Milton became blind at age 44. Sixteen years later he wrote the classic Paradise Lost. The German composer Beethoven had become completely deaf by age 46. Yet he wrote his greatest music, including five symphonies, during his later years, including one we love to sing, the Ode to Joy. Franklin D. Roosevelt was paralyzed by polio at the age of 39. He was elected president of the U.S. four times. John Newton, the Methodist minister who wrote Amazing Grace, was at one time a captain of a ship that dealt in the slave trading business. General Douglas McArthur had to apply to West Point three times. The first two times he was turned down. Abraham Lincoln entered the Blackhawk War as a captain. By the end of the war he had been demoted to the rank of private. The greatest example of all is Jesus Christ who overcame the power of death because he was faithful to the Father in heaven. And he gives us the confidence we too can overcome even death by sharing in his risen life, a life that comes to us through our union with him. God is making us into a new creation in himself. “See,” God says, “I am doing something new…do you not perceive it?” Our union with him depends on sanctifying grace, a precious gift given to us at baptism, strengthened at confirmation and nourished through prayer, the Eucharist and the sacrament of reconciliation when we need it. Today he tells us as he told the paralytic “rise, pick your mat, and walk,” walk in faith, hope and love and in the newness of life grace gives us. Amen.

Guiding Light - Reflect on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Reflect on the Word - Cycle B     The Word leaves an impression on our souls. In my thoughts and reflections are born a more tangible understanding of these eternal concepts presented in the Gospels and the readings. Anyone can read a sentence, but not anyone can absorb it's true meaning. Truth, in this day and age, is almost a matter of opinion or individual entitlement. We believe that Christ's truth is our Roman Catholic Church. We, as priests, champion it's teachings; we are ambassadors for the Pope and Christ to those faces looking at us. We are the light by which our congregation reads to reflect upon real truth and we do it hand in hand. $15

Guiding Light - Steadfast to the Son
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle A of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A    The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 10.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle C of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C    In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word
Inspiring Homilies Covering Cycle B of the Liturgical Year
$ 15.00 plus postage

Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B    At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts

Audio CD - Read by Father Edward J. Carter
$ 10.00  plus postage

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10

Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ..." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
