Ephesians 4: 26

Even if you are angry, do not sin: never let the sun set on your anger or else you will give the devil a foothold.

Matthew 15: 3-6

He answered, 'And why do you break away from the commandment of God for the sake of your tradition? For God said, "Honour your father and your mother" and "Anyone who curses his father or mother will be put to death." But you say, "If anyone says to his father or mother: Anything I might have used to help you is dedicated to God, he is rid of his duty to father or mother." In this way you have made God's word ineffective by means of your tradition.

1 Corinthians 13: 1-13

Though I command languages both human and angelic—if I speak without love, I am no more than a gong booming or a cymbal clashing. And though I have the power of prophecy, to penetrate all mysteries and knowledge, and though I have all the faith necessary to move mountains—if I am without love, I am nothing. Though I should give away to the poor all that I possess, and even give up my body to be burned—if I am without love, it will do me no good whatever.

Love is always patient and kind; love is never jealous; love is not boastful or conceited, it is never rude and never seeks its own advantage, it does not take offence or store up grievances. Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but finds its joy in the truth. It is always ready to make allowances, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.

Love never comes to an end. But if there are prophecies, they will be done away with; if tongues, they will fall silent; and if knowledge, it will be done away with. For we know only imperfectly, and we prophesy imperfectly; but once perfection comes, all imperfect things will be done away with. When I was a child, I used to talk like a child, and see things as a child does, and think like a child; but now that I have become an adult, I have finished with all childish ways. Now we see only reflections in a mirror, mere riddles, but then we shall be seeing face to face. Now I can know only imperfectly; but then I shall know just as fully as I am myself known.

As it is, these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.

John 15: 12-17

This is my commandment:
love one another,
as I have loved you.
No one can have greater love
than to lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends,
if you do what I command you.
I shall no longer call you servants,
because a servant does not know
the master’s business;
I call you friends,
because I have made known to you
everything I have learnt from my Father.
You did not choose me,
no, I chose you;
and I commissioned you
to go out and to bear fruit,
fruit that will last;
so that the Father will give you
anything you ask him in my name.
My command to you
is to love one another.

Mark 12: 30

and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength.

                R. God wants all our hearts —

When we are full of anger at one
                    person it festers and
                    we become divided and
                    dark inside

We are to work through anger
and pray in love for the person
who is offending us or others

God looks at our hearts —

If we are like Jesus we
                    have hearts of love —

                Jesus:

                (1) Love God with your whole
                    heart —

                (2) Love your neighbor as yourself!!

                (3) Examine your conscience —
                    Check your motives —
                    the unloving, angry, selfish
                    ways that have a grip
                    on you

Cling to Me

May 13, 1993

Jesus: My dear child, if you stay close to Me, then I live in you and you live in Me. I am He Who created you and I love you with such an intensity that you will never know. My words are your truth. You must abide in My heart in all things. There is no room for doubt. My ways are steadfast, direct, and without error.

You must stay rooted in Me to ward off the power of the evil one. His grip is paralyzing and crippling. His power is stronger every day.

When you live in Me, I am in your heart and he has no power over Me. I am your God. I am your true lover. I want to protect you. I want to guard you from this force. Stay rooted firmly in Me and he will have no power.

I am He Who comforts you. My hand is upon you. Hold tight to Me, My child. My eyes are fixed right on you. You are My most precious child. I love you as no other can. My arms are about you. My tenderness surrounds you. My love is in your heart. You go not alone. I walk with you.

I share every aspect of your life with you. Cling to Me, feel My presence. It is warm and secure within your chest. There is no room for fear, for I cast out fear and bring you comfort and joy.

Song: Why Do We Hurt the Ones We Love

                R. How has God helped you in
                    your life (little miracles)
                    make a list
                    Study it!!
                    Thank God —

Do all things for the honor
                    and glory of God —

Be responsible for your actions —

                Tell the truth

Ephesians 5: 15

So be very careful about the sort of lives you lead, like intelligent and not like senseless people.

                R. We may be rejected by others,
                    but we can work through
                    the offense in our
                    hearts and pray for them

John 17: 18

As you sent me into the world,
I have sent them into the world,

                R. God has a Plan for us —

                Do it

                Don't rebel against God's
                    will for us —

                Do it in love —

                Die to the self-centered
                    ways — don't keep
                    repeating them —

God gave us a short life —
                    get busy obeying God
                    now or life could pass
                    you by —

A young girl recently had a
                    father who had a
                    heart attack at 43 —
                    and he died —

Life is a gift it is
                    time to thank God —

Take off the old - angry self —

                Tell God you're sorry for
                    blocking His work —

Those who do the will of
God in love are happy —

We are to know the commandments
of God and live by them —

                Start growing today —

                We control our thoughts —

                Love lasts forever

1 Corinthians 13: 13

As it is, these remain: faith, hope and love, the three of them; and the greatest of them is love.

                R. What do I have when
                    I rebel against God's
will for me to love —

Psalm 139: 1-10

Yahweh, you examine me and know me,
you know when I sit, when I rise,
you understand my thoughts from afar.
You watch when I walk or lie down,
you know every detail of my conduct.

A word is not yet on my tongue
before you, Yahweh, know all about it.
You fence me in, behind and in front,
you have laid your hand upon me.
Such amazing knowledge is beyond me,
a height to which I cannot attain.

Where shall I go to escape your spirit?
Where shall I flee from your presence?
If I scale the heavens you are there,
if I lie flat in Sheol, there you are.

If I speed away on the wings of the dawn,
if I dwell beyond the ocean,
even there your hand will be guiding me,
your right hand holding me fast.

                R. It is a privilege that God
                    has given to us to
                    know and love God and
                    spread the devotion
                    to Their two Hearts.

                Surrender —

                Give yourself to God

St. Luke tells us how the Christians
                        shared things —
                        that they lived harmoniously —
as the community grew so did
                            the problems

There was a cultural issue —
                        There was financial insecurity —
they depended on the community —
                            there wasn't Social Security —

They started a new order in the
                            Church the deaconate —

Fifth Sunday of Easter

April 20, 2008

INTRODUCTION – (Acts 6: 1-7, 1 Peter 2: 4-9, John 14: 1-12) Three weeks ago we heard St. Luke tell us in the Acts of the Apostles how the first Christians got along so beautifully. They devoted themselves to prayer and instruction from the Apostles and generously shared their material possessions so that no one was in need among them. As the community grew, so did the problems. The first Christians were probably conservative Jews from around Jerusalem who spoke Hebrew or Aramaic. They were culturally and traditionally different from converted Jews who lived in other parts of the Roman Empire and who spoke the common language of the day, Greek. They are referred to in today’s first reading as the Hellenists. Besides this cultural difference, there were economic issues. Widows in those days were entirely dependent on the community for their basic needs. The Hellenists, those who spoke Greek, complained that their widows were being discriminated against when food was being given out at Christian gatherings. The Apostles felt their role was not to give out food but to stay focused on prayer and preaching so they solved the problem by creating a new office in the Church, the diaconate.

                Today's Readings

Acts 6: 1-7

About this time, when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenists made a complaint against the Hebrews: in the daily distribution their own widows were being overlooked. So the Twelve called a full meeting of the disciples and addressed them, 'It would not be right for us to neglect the word of God so as to give out food; you, brothers, must select from among yourselves seven men of good reputation, filled with the Spirit and with wisdom, to whom we can hand over this duty. We ourselves will continue to devote ourselves to prayer and to the service of the word.' The whole assembly approved of this proposal and elected Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, together with Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus of Antioch, a convert to Judaism. They presented these to the apostles, and after prayer they laid their hands on them.

The word of the Lord continued to spread: the number of disciples in Jerusalem was greatly increased, and a large group of priests made their submission to the faith.

1 Peter 2: 4-9

He is the living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen by God and precious to him; set yourselves close to him so that you, too, may be living stones making a spiritual house as a holy priesthood to offer the spiritual sacrifices made acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. As scripture says: Now I am laying a stone in Zion, a chosen, precious cornerstone and no one who relies on this will be brought to disgrace. To you believers it brings honour. But for unbelievers, it is rather a stone which the builders rejected that became a cornerstone, a stumbling stone, a rock to trip people up. They stumble over it because they do not believe in the Word; it was the fate in store for them.

But you are a chosen race, a kingdom of priests, a holy nation, a people to be a personal possession to sing the praises of God who called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.

John 14: 1-12

Do not let your hearts be troubled.
You trust in God, trust also in me.
In my Father’s house
    there are many places to live in;
otherwise I would have told you.
I am going now to prepare a place for you,
and after I have gone
    and prepared you a place,
I shall return to take you to myself,
so that you may be with me
where I am.
You know the way
to the place where I am going.

Thomas said, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus said:

Jesus said: I am the Way; I am Truth and Life.
No one can come to the Father
    except through me.
If you know me,
you will know my Father too.
From this moment you know him
    and have seen him.

Philip said, 'Lord, show us the Father and then we shall be satisfied.' Jesus said to him, 'Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me?

'Anyone who has seen me
    has seen the Father,
so how can you say,
    "Show us the Father"?

Do you not believe
that I am in the Father
and the Father is in me?
What I say to you
I do not speak of my own accord:
it is the Father, living in me,
    who is doing his works.
You must believe me when I say
that I am in the Father
    and the Father is in me;
or at least believe it
on the evidence of these works.
In all truth I tell you,
whoever believes in me
will perform the same works
    as I do myself,
and will perform even greater works,
because I am going to the Father.

                R. God calls us to be one —
God calls us to work together —
God calls us to obey rules —
God calls us to obey the commandments —

Fifth Sunday of Easter

April 20, 2008

HOMILY – Our gospel reading puts us at the Last Supper with Jesus and the Apostles. Jesus knew that the Apostles’ world would soon be turned upside down. In spite of repeated warnings, the Apostles were not ready for what was going to take place once they left the Supper room. So he gave them one last word of wisdom: “don’t be troubled, don’t be afraid, just trust me.” What an order! In spite of Jesus’ words not to be troubled, they were devastated after he was arrested and put to death. If Jesus’ words at that time did not give much comfort to the Apostles, they have been giving comfort in times of suffering to all the rest of us for the past 2000 years. They are reflected in a very popular hymn: “Be not afraid.”

Jesus describes to them why they should not be troubled or afraid: because there would be a better life ahead for them and he was going away to prepare a place for them so they could be with him forever. He told them there were many “dwelling places” in his Father’s house. Sometimes the word “dwelling places” is translated “mansions.” We have to carefully understand just what Jesus is saying here. Too often we interpret his words in a materialistic way, thinking of multi-million dollar homes we will have in heaven as a reward for being good. Some people may even picture a Mercedes in the garage, a pool in the back yard, a well-stocked wine cellar in the basement and 70 virgins waiting to meet them. This kind of a vision reduced happiness to sheer materialism and that is not what happiness with God will be all about. The Greek word translated as “dwelling place” does not mean “mansion.” The word puts emphasis, not so much on a building or structure, as on the act of staying or dwelling. Reading further on in John’s gospel we learn that the “Father’s house” where Jesus is going and where there are many “dwelling places” is really to be understood as the experience of communion with God and with Jesus and being able to share in God’s glory. This will be a source of joy that is greater than anything we can know in this world. This may be a disheartening thought for those who are looking for material rewards or untold physical pleasures.

St. Paul tells us “What no one ever saw or heard, what no one ever thought could happen, is the very thing God prepared for those who love him.” (Translation: Good News Bible – 1 Cor 2,9) What’s ahead for us is beyond our understanding. True, Jesus did use images we could understand to give us a hint of what heaven would be like. Heaven is like a hidden treasure, a pearl of great worth, a wedding banquet a king has for his son, a place without sadness or suffering or death. His examples can be very comforting to think about and can motivate us to live a holy life. What is more important to think about, though, is not what we’ll find when we enter into the next life as the way that leads there. It’s of major importance because if we don’t go the right way, we won’t end up in the right place. Our culture today tells us it doesn’t matter what way we follow, we’ll all end up in the same place. That’s not what Jesus tells us. Jesus tells us today “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” He is not only the way, but also the truth. Contrary to founders of certain different religions who have told their followers they have found the truth, Jesus goes further and tells us he is the truth! It is in him, in Jesus, we will see the glory of God as he tells Philip today. When Philip asked to be able to see the Father, Philip was thinking as we often do, that somehow God is hiding somewhere and if he would only show himself to us we would be happy. We don’t realize how much he wants us to see him and know him, to share his life and to know his joy. God is not made of material things. He can’t come out of hiding because he is not hiding from us. He is all around us, but we can only know him through a faith that fills our minds and hearts, and Jesus has pointed that way of faith out to us.

While I was praying the other day, the image of Jesus as a compass came to mind. A compass always points north. I don’t understand exactly how magnetism works, but I know if I follow the way it points, it will not mislead me. I don’t understand God perfectly either, because God is infinite and the infinite is too great for my finite mind. But I trust in Jesus, and I know that if I follow the way he points, he will not mislead me. He is the way, the truth and the life.

1 Peter 2: 7-8

... But for unbelievers, it is rather a stone which the builders rejected that became a cornerstone, a stumbling stone, a rock to trip people up. They stumble over it because they do not believe in the Word; it was the fate in store for them.

                R. A priest was going to teach a retreat
in Florida — since it was Florida
he said he would send his mom
                a postcard —

So he saw a young man and asked for
                    the post office —

Then he told the man — if you come
to Church tonight I will tell
you how to get to heaven —

                The man said —
                    I don't think I will come tonight
                    because you don't even know
the way to the post office —

We don't know the hour when the
                    time will come —
                    We must keep alert —
                    Christians have been predicting
                        a long time —
We just have to pray and wait
                    Nobody knows when, but the
                        Father —

Keep your eye on the big picture
                    Stay alert —

                    Life goes on
                    Children grow up —

This moment is part of our whole
                        life —

                Fr. Joe said
When somebody got a bad deal —
they said you got the "green
                        wiener"

A "green wiener" was one that was
cooked over and over again —
                        then served —

Let's not give God a "green wiener"

Don't let your hearts be troubled —

                Our ultimate purpose is to
live and to do God's will and
                    to get to heaven —

Jesus died on the cross —

                We must discipline ourselves
                    and obey God's rule —

                Heaven is a reward promised
to those who love and serve
                    the Lord —

There was an elderly couple that went
to heaven and found it was heavenly —
The man said I could have been here
3 years ago if you wouldn't have fed
me all that health food —

The way to heaven is a Person, Jesus Himself —
Jesus is the way, the truth and the life —

Jesus told them He would go and prepare
                    a place for him —
An 89 year old evangelist has told us
the world would end yesterday —
Here it is May 22nd and we are here —

                The real prophet —
Jesus told us you do not know the
                        time and the place —
We have to keep alert —
Keep before us the big picture in
                            all this —

A child practicing the piano —
                        A child practicing baseball —
                        The big picture —

                        We go through raising children
                            because we know the child
will grow up and have a family or
                            do whatever —

Fr. Joe saw the big picture in the
seminary — he would be a priest —

Jesus kept before Him the big picture —
Jesus knew He would suffer and
                    would rise —

Jesus was telling His Apostles what is
                    the big picture —
                    What is the ultimate goal
that we get to heaven —

                What is the ultimate purpose?

Jesus: The devil wants to throw you off —
to serve him and not serve God —

He uses agents (people who give into the
devil) to try to lead you off.

Your whole life is to be lived seeking God's
will and serving God in love —

                God is love —

                The devil wants confusion, games,
leading a person from serving God
by pressure — he comes and does his pressure
                    through others —
                    surprise —
                    disharmony —
rebelling against the Father's Plan —
                    trying to block prayer —
                    trying to block love —

The devil wants people to demand their
                    way and disobey authority —

                God is good —

                R. Jesus shows us that we are to obey
                    those over us —

He obeyed His Father's will to His death on
                    the cross —

He came down here to show us how to be
                    sons of God —
how He obeyed His Father's will, in love,
to His death on the cross —

Our answer is in this —
Only God can satisfy the stalking soul —
And He gives us a free will —

Satan says — do it your way
                Don't obey authority —
                Rise up

Jeremiah 31: 31-34

‘Look, the days are coming, Yahweh declares, when I shall make a new covenant with the House of Israel (and the House of Judah), but not like the covenant I made with their ancestors the day I took them by the hand to bring them out of Egypt, a covenant which they broke, even though I was their Master, Yahweh declares. No, this is the covenant I shall make with the House of Israel when those days have come, Yahweh declares. Within them I shall plant my Law, writing it on their hearts. Then I shall be their God and they will be my people. There will be no further need for everyone to teach neighbour or brother, saying, "Learn to know Yahweh!" No, they will all know me, from the least to the greatest, Yahweh declares, since I shall forgive their guilt and never more call their sin to mind.’

                R. It is the law of love Christ writes on
                    our hearts —

To love God with our whole heart, not
                    part of it —

God tells us about the new covenant
                    in the scriptures —

A covenant is a strong agreement of
                    love to serve —

It won't be broken because it is
                        a covenant —

God made covenants with His people —
                    God is faithful —

For example the covenant God made
                    with Noah —

Genesis 9: 8-17

God spoke as follows to Noah and his sons, ‘I am now establishing my covenant with you and with your descendants to come, and with every living creature that was with you: birds, cattle and every wild animal with you; everything that came out of the ark, every living thing on earth. And I shall maintain my covenant with you: that never again shall all living things be destroyed by the waters of a flood, nor shall there ever again be a flood to devastate the earth.’

‘And this’, God said, ‘is the sign of the covenant which I now make between myself and you and every living creature with you for all ages to come: I now set my bow in the clouds and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I gather the clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds, I shall recall the covenant between myself and you and every living creature, in a word all living things, and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all living things. When the bow is in the clouds I shall see it and call to mind the eternal covenant between God and every living creature on earth, that is, all living things.’

‘That’, God told Noah, ‘is the sign of the covenant I have established between myself and all living things on earth.’

                R. A religious is to take a vow —
to stay in their vocation —
they are married to Jesus, but they
                        must obey their superiors,
                        they are to be celibate

                A married person receives a sacrament —
                    they are under God —
they vow to be faithful ...
until death do us part —
they make a promise to each other —
until death do us part they say
                    in the ceremony —
as long as we both shall live —

Being married to Jesus as a religious
                    is usually a vow —
a promise — until death do us part —
religious are to make a commitment
                        to God and
                        under poverty, chastity and obedience
                        they show the world —
                        about heaven
(Some religious don't take the vow
                            of poverty today) —

The calling of one's vocation is how God
calls us to live our lives to serve Him —
                    Stability, faithfulness to the marriage
                        to Jesus

Some wear rings because they are
                    married to Jesus —

But religious cannot do what they want —
                    they are under authority —

                Jesus shows us structure —
                                        order —

Obedience to His Father's will —
God is faithful to His Covenants —

                The devil attacks commitments —
The devil said "I will not serve God"
The devil tells people "Do what you
want, you don't have to serve —
                    they aren't making you happy"

The devil wants people angry, going as
                    a rival against God's will —

When the person disobeys God's will — raises
up over those over them —
then he tells them they are not wrong —

The devil tries to show 'right as
wrong' and 'wrong as right' —

The devil is a liar —
The devil rebels against God's way —

The devil wants agents to follow him and
                    not follow Jesus —

The devil challenges just authority and tries
to tempt people to rise over just authority —

When the person disobeys what they are
                    supposed to do —
the devil wants a challenge —
                    disruption to loving harmony —

                Fr. Mike says —
                    "Not being a team player"

Jesus told me to call him and
                    Fr. Mike said —
                    "Not being a team player"

God deals with the human race —
Some obey the rules of God —
Some rebel against the rules of God —

When one responds to God's love with
                    rebellion against His rules —
                    one distances themselves further
                    from God —

Union with God makes us happy —

Trying to prove 'wrong is right' and
                    'right is wrong' to one
                    trying to establish a
                    community, a family of obedience
and love is working then to try to
force others to do the wrong thing
                    they are doing —

                This causes conflict —

The battle of evil and good —

If one is doing evil and tries through
force to force the wrong structure —
                    disharmony on others —
the person in charge has to do God's will —

What determines what we do is —
                    God's will

Satan comes through an agent —
trying to change a rule —
then if he can get away with it
                        he goes further and further
into his evil way to rob
                        the place of peace —
                                        love —
                                        unity —
                                        harmony —

                There is disobedience —

Satan works to tear apart —

When Hitler formed the regiments of
evil they were formed quickly —

They killed people unjustly — they
                    moved ahead —

Satan works like this — he wants to
                    rebel against just authority —
he wants people to follow him —

                Satan doesn't want families - strong —
and committed — until death do we
part — loving and being united — working
as a unit — faithful in commitments
                    as a family —
mom and dad and children —
                    obeying the 4th commandment —
going to Church on Sunday as a family —

                Satan works on religious —
priests must obey their bishops —
                    religious their superiors —
living as a community doing the rule
                        of that community —
Satan wants people throwing off the
                        community, the prayer —
                    Satan wants one who says
"I will not serve, I do it my way, I
                        don't obey superiors or rules"
"I will do this and that, but I will
                        be in charge"

When a person is put in charge of others
they have a moral responsibility to
see the rule is kept — the rule of
                    the organization and community —
                    the prayer life —

                The big picture —

What is God's Plan for that place —

What is the purpose of this Religious
                    Order —

How have we obeyed the founder —
                    co-founder —

How are we living according to the
Plan for why we exist —

A person can be attacked by satan
to write their own rules —
                    turn certain centers into private
                    homes and bring in
rules they set against the main rule —

When this happens the Plan of the Father
for an order can collapse or
                    have a set back —

Depending on how the person rebels
against the rule and structure —

                Commitment to one's vocation, married,
religious, single is the way God
calls us to live out our lives —

God has a Plan for us — we need to be
                    faithful to God's Plan —

We need to be committed to our vocation —

God told Abraham what to do —
                Abraham was faithful —
                Abraham obeyed God —

Moses was faithful to God's Plan —
                    When Moses disobeyed God
                    he was punished —

Noah obeyed God — even though he
                    was laughed at —

                God calls us to serve

                        CALL    <——>    RESPONSE

But we have a free will to rebel
                    against God's Plan —

We are not happy telling God we
                    won't serve Him —
                    we won't be committed —
we won't obey anybody over us —

God has put all this order in the world —
                                            order in the universe
                                            order in our bodies —

A man in Church today had
                    failing kidneys —

                What happens when an organ
                    fails in the body —
                    our heart —
                    our kidneys
                    etc. —

                Why can't we see God's plan —
we are members in the Church
in the body of Christ —

when one rebels against Christ the
                        head —
                    they are miserable —

When one finds an organ fails —
                    a person can die —

God has called us to work
                    hand-in-hand —
                    to work as a unit
being "team players" in God's ball
                        game —

A man or woman playing their own
                    notes in the symphony ruins
the piece — they are dissonant
                    and it hurts everybody else

"It is important that we (as people of God) return to the source of life, our faith, which is usefully exposed in this volume, and take it out to our contemporaries, evangelizing them and their cultures and inculturating the Gospel." Guiding Light homily series - Steadfast to the Son - Cycle A — The sunflower is a great example of how we should be steadfastly guided by light. What a powerful thought that this exceptional plant is not stuck in one pose day in and day out, yet adaptable and magnetized to the sun. We feel the same about our Son. Our heads turns to face Christ as each day presents its challenges to find light. We join together like plants in a field and soak up the Son through the pulpit. We are a warm circle of strength using the wind of our breath to carry our priests' words, Christ's words, to new rich soil. $15
Guiding Light - Focusing on the Word - Cycle B — At times we may feel that our path to Christ is a bit "out of focus". Like the disciples in the Book of Mark, this ordinary life clouds our vision of Christ's Divinity. We may doubt the practicality or possibility of applying His teachings and example to our modern life. Cycle B's homilies are a "guiding light" to help us realize Jesus' Messianic greatness and His promise of better things to come. $15
Guiding Light - Feed My Soul - Cycle C — In a world rapidly advancing and encouraging personal gain, we are faced with modern problems. There is a challenge to find time in our busy schedules for Sunday Mass or a family meal. We are able to research, shop, bank and even work without hearing one human voice. It is no wonder that we may often feel disconnected and famished at our week's end. In Fr. Joe's third book of homilies from Cycle C, we are reminded of the charity that Christ intended us to show each other. We have a calling to turn the other cheek and be the Good Samaritan to others. We are rewarded with the Father's kingdom and love when we are not worthy. We are not left alone or hungry. $15

Guiding Light - The Word Alive in Our Hearts. - Cycle A (partial) Homilies by the Reverend Joe Robinson given at St. Boniface Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is a tremendous honor Fr. Joe has allowed us to share these great gifts with you – for greater holiness and knowing more and more about God. $10

Shepherds of Christ Prayer Manual. The Shepherds of Christ has prayer chapters all over the world praying for the priests, the Church and the world. These prayers that Father Carter compiled in the summer of 1994 began this worldwide network of prayer. Currently the prayers are in eight languages with the Church’s Imprimatur. We have prayed daily for the priests, the Church, and the world since 1994. Associates are called to join prayer Chapters and help us circulate the newsletter centered on spreading devotion to the Sacred Heart and Immaculate Heart and helping to renew the Church through greater holiness. Please form a Prayer Chapter & order a Prayer Manual.

Holy Spirit Novena Booklet. In four languages with the Imprimatur with 18 scripture readings for two complete novenas – this very powerful Holy Spirit Novena has prayers for prayers for Protection by the Blood of Jesus, Healing, Strength and Light, To Be One with God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, One with Jesus, To Dwell in the Hearts of Jesus and Mary, Prayer for the Holy Spirit and His Gifts, and the Word Alive in Our Hearts. All these prayers take about 10 minutes daily recited out loud. $1

Spirituality Handbook. Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. did 3 synopsis of the spiritual life. The Spirituality Handbook, the Priestly Newsletter 2000 Issue 3 and the Tell My People book. The way of spiritual life proposed to the members of Shepherds of Christ Associates is centered in consecration to the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. All aspects of the spiritual life discussed below should be viewed as means to help members develop their lives in consecration to Christ, the Sacred Heart, and to Mary, the Immaculate Heart. $3
Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #1 - CD. - Christ is Our Strength - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. It is so beautiful. "This brief passage contains one of the greatest lessons of the spiritual life. As we progress along our spiritual journey, we become increasingly aware of how weak we are in our-selves, but how strong we are in Christ. To experience our weakness involves suffering. The degree and kind of suffering can vary. The suffering can include the experience of the classical dark night of the spirit as described by St. John of the Cross. One of the main purposes of the dark night is to make a person keenly aware of his or her helplessness without God." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
Priestly Newsletter - 2000 #2 - CD. - Suffering: A Source of Life - Fr. Edward Carter, S.J. read it the year he died. Fr. Carter knew suffering that year. His voice is so powerful as he read each Newsletter from his heart and soul. "Every man has his own share in the redemption. Each one is also called to share in that suffering through which the redemption was accomplished. He is called to share in that suffering through which all human suffering has also been redeemed. In bringing about the redemption through suffering, Christ has also raised human suffering to the level of the redemption. Thus each man in his suffering can also become a sharer in the redemptive suffering of Christ..." quote by Fr. Carter from the newsletter $10
